The Old Bank

Snettisham, King's Lynn and West Norfolk, >100£
02/04/2020: Would highly recommend this restaurant, very nice food at a reasonable price. Very good wines and excellent coffee.
09/03/2020: A Lovely Sunday lunch. Atmosphere was nice, staff were very friendly. Butternut squash veloutè to start which was delicious and for main I had the lamb shoulder which was perfectly cooked and partner had the beef which was very tender. Only tiny gripe was no extra gravy. This place is definatly worth a try but make sure you book in advance but it is worth it.

The Courtyard

Central and Northgate, Great Yarmouth, <20£
20/06/2020: Ordered takeaway, everything was so nice and well cooked, when we arrived salty was number one, hand sanitiser, contactless payment, staff wearing PPE. Food was delicious and hot.
04/03/2020: The meal I ordered featured tough and fatty pork belly, which was mostly inedible, accompanied by vegetables and gravy with little flavour. I am baffled by the other reviews for this restaurant as I find it difficult to believe that the ‘chef’ who produced this meal, which lacked even an appropriate level of seasoning, is capable of maintaining the levels of excellence other patrons have commented on. My companion’s food was adequately cooked but also lacked flavour. An expensive and disappointing experience.

Queen Victoria

Wickham Bishops and Woodham, Maldon
26/05/2020: Thank you to the Queen Victoria pub on Spital Road, Maldon, for providing top quality take away meals during lockdown! Some meals come with extra treats. For Easter, there were a couple of Easter eggs and for V E day, there was a lovely cream tea for two! It’s the small thing like that, that counts! top quality, great value!!
07/05/2020: I would like to thank the queen vic for the beautiful cream tea supplied to Lawrence place Maldon much appreciated in this lock down from all the uresidents

Restaurant 22

West Chesterton, Cambridge, 60-100£
18/04/2020: Staff were attentive, polite, knowledgeable. Food was out of this world. A great birthday treat. Would highly recommend
08/03/2020: We visited here last night with friends and had the most amazing meal. We chose the 7 course taster menu. My dietary requirements are a little challenging but the chef accommodated me with a delicious individual menu. Two of our party chose the wine flight which provided unusual but extremely complimentary accompaniments to the food. The staff are very attentive but not intrusive. It was a real treat!! Thank you to all the staff especially the chef at restaurant 22.

St Helena

Elstow, Bedford, 45-60£
15/03/2020: Two special birthdays, not been to this restaurant before but heard a lot about it.Plenty of parking., lovely garden and made to feel welcome as soon as we walked inside. Very good choice of menu, good service and food delicious. Could not fault it. Delightful slate with Happy Birthday on it in icing for the two of us having special birthdays. It was raining when we came to leave and the owner escorted us to the the car with a brolly so we did not get wet and presented us with a bottle of wine to enjoy when we got home. A really delightful experience, excellent food and very caring owner. We shall return.
12/03/2020: My wife and I went to celebrate our 16th engagement anniversary a few weeks ago. My wife was really looking forward to it because she remembered going as a child and how beautiful everything was. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. The location is beautiful but the statues as you enter are a reflection of the slave trade of years passed, which I think is in very poor taste. I am not sure if they are aware of that though. It was a Friday night and was very busy with very little room to move between tables. Fortunately, we were put down the side part at the rear of the restaurant which meant it was very quiet and intimate. We felt the menu selection was dated compared to other restaurants at this price range but they did have the right amount of meal options. The wine menu was limited and it would have helped to give a brief description of the flavour of the wine so you could choose which would be best suited for your meal. The service however was excellent. The timing of each course perfect and I can't fault the presentation of each dish.Unfortunately, there was no 'wow factor' when it came to the taste of each dish and my wife had to leave the table urgently before finishing her coffee because she became poorly very quickly.Maybe our expectations were too high but the quality of the food didn't meet or expectations. Which was a real shame.

Maison Bleue Restaurant

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
18/03/2020: would definitely recommend to everyone. one of the best restaurants for food and service I have ever had. Just can't believe how blown away I was by everything and amazing value for money. so so so good. thank you to everyone there.
14/03/2020: The best restaurant in Suffolk without a doubt. Small but perfectly formed restaurant. Beautiful food wonderful staff. Will return soon.

North Street Bistro

Burnham, King's Lynn and West Norfolk
07/01/2020: I have reviewed North Street Bistro before, but returned twice and it's a 200 mile round trip. We have taken long weekends in Norfolk, just so that we can visit this our favourite bistro of all our gastronomic experiences. Everything - the hospitality, the food, the atmosphere, the drinks is done perfectly. Thank you Holly and Dan for our times at North Street Bistro over the last three years, so very sad that you are leaving. Looking forward to your next venture/location.
28/12/2019: We had a truly great dining experience, but in bringing up TA we are shocked to read that the couple running it will shortly move on; so not sure that the review will help anyone! But, then I thought that maybe at least I can show appreciation for the night. So, that in mind, let me start by saying that we’ve eaten in top restaurants in many places, both in UK and abroad, and in both quality and value terms, North Street Bistro was worthy of being included in that company. To specifics: we had the salmon and terrine starters; both were very tasty, with nice touches like the pickled walnut ketchup with the terrine. We both had the Bouillabaisse main; a dish I was introduced to at a restaurant on a beach in Normandy around 40 years ago and have loved ever since; this version was both a little different than standard and yet also up there with the best I’ve had since. Finally, I had the Pear Tart Tatin, which had a rich, caramel sweetness that was absolutely top notch. Thanks for a great meal and good luck in all your future endeavours!

The Lowestoft Tandoori

Harbour, Waveney
23/06/2020: Tastes amazing full of flavour would order again, Would definitely recommend this place, Five stars well deserved
23/06/2020: We always have takeaways from Lowestoft Tandoori. Always arrives hot very tasty we enjoy trying different dishes.

Cafe Brazil

Maldon North, Maldon
04/07/2020: When we heard that restaurants were allowed to open we booked a table for the first night. The tables were distastanced and all precautions were taken. The food was excellent as usual and we had a lovely meal in what felt like perfectly safe surroundings. Thanks Everton for a lovely evening and look forward to seeing you again soon
10/03/2020: First time visit and we weren't disappointed although not a huge menu really so wouldn't be somewhere I'd go on a regular basis. The men had burgers (there aren't any steaks) and my friend and I were really happy with our "mystery" dishes - we didn't have a clue what we ordering but we loved what we did lol! Hope the new addition to the family arrived safely :0)

The Buxhall Crown

Onehouse, Mid Suffolk, 20-30£
16/03/2020: We have been here before on several occasions and I think will be come more regular visitors. The owner is passionate about the place and has good knowledge of wine and catering in general. He runs the place I would like to run a gastropub but don't have the energy. The staff are always pleasant and attentive. He is normally booked well in advance but I think the Corona Virus has hit here like many others but I would still call in advance to be sure. Food is well cooked, tasty, well presented and a lot is sourced locally.Visit you won't be disappointed.
07/03/2020: First time here after being recommended by several people. We had a lovely meal celebrating my birthday and the staff were very attentive. We were asked how we wanted our venison and duck cooked, we opted for medium for my son but we were unsure about the duck so we went with the chef's recommendation, the duck came medium rare and was delicious! The whole meal was fantastic and I would definitely come again.

The Green Man

Whittlesford, South Cambridgeshire, 20-30£
17/04/2020: We were staying nearby and saw this place on trip advisor. Read the reviews and so booked a table. We both had lovely starters. For the main course we chose three choices from the tapas plates and one from the main menu. Just gorgeous. Too full for a dessert. If ever we we visit the area again I’d definitely come back here to eat.
20/03/2020: We were introduced to The Green Man by some friends and wow, we were impressed. Their tapas style menu is fabulous. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, good value - what more could anyone ask for.

Roger Hickman's restaurant

Mancroft, Norwich, 60-100£
15/03/2020: We all chose the tasting menu with the matched wines. Every single dish was a triumph, all beautifully presented and with unobtrusive but well informed service. Our waiter introduced each dish and the matching wine. The venue is understated, a delicated blend of muted grey and mushroom shades that belies the exquisite flavours on offer within. For a special treat this is the finest in Norwich, no doubt.
14/03/2020: Very nice tasting menu and great service. Attentive but unobtrusive. The restaurant is comfortable and a pleasant place to spent a few hours. Subdued music and the furniture absorbs the sound of other customers, also tables are well spaced apart so it doesn’t feel crowded. Delight of delights, proper white tablecloths and napkins. So many restaurants skimp on these essentials presumably for their own convenience but these touches really make a huge addition to the overall experience. Looking forward to our next visit

Vitta Bella East Hanningfield

Bicknacre and East and West Hanningfield, Chelmsford
16/05/2019: This was our first time at Vita Bella and not going to lie, coming here was a very good idea. Massive wine list, set menu and A' La Carte with plenty of choice. The service was excellent. The staff is really friendly, polite and their knowledge about food and drink is just.. wow! Little Italian restaurant that brings a 10/10 Fine Dining experience.
16/05/2019: We have dined at Vita Bella on three separate occasions and each one was been nothing short of spectacular.

Burnham, King's Lynn and West Norfolk
21/06/2020: They have recently started offering takeaways on Saturdays and Sundays on a pre-order, and socially distanced collection system. We tried it recently and it worked extremely well. The food is as good as ever, it comes with reheating instructions and the containers are numbered so you know which accompaniment goes with which dish. Although it’s obviously not the same experience as a night out in the restaurant, it was very enjoyable given the circumstances.
21/06/2020: We held a social distancing gathering for six of us at home and utilised the take home experience Socius was offering including six beautiful cocktails. After a forty mile trip the instructions to bring the meal back to the restaurant’s high standard were detailed and easy to fulfill. Once again Socius hits the spot ,best take home meal you could ever imagine .Once again food worth travelling for

Morston Hall Restaurant

Glaven Valley, North Norfolk, 60-100£
22/03/2020: Superb cooking of every course of tasting menu. What a treat. Amuse Bouche x 2, fabulous carrot veloute, wondrous quail breast wrapped in pancetta, glorious spelt risotto with ewe's milk, monk fish with raz Al hangout, fantastic pork including a sous vide ( cooked so So slowly) pork belly with a piece of filet and lovely vegetables, the. Pre dessert and dessert. WOW,. AND the wine was delicious and not over priced ( just). Service meticulously but not starchy formal- just very professional and friendly. Six stars.
18/03/2020: A really wonderful restaurant. They were incredibly accommodating as I had some dietary requirements due to being pregnant, and the staff were so kind and helpful. The food was fantastic and the service phenomenal. My husband said the wine flight let it down slightly as he didn’t really feel they were worth £13 a glass, but in contrast to the excellence elsewhere, that’s really a minor thing. Would thoroughly recommend!
