The Old Bank

Snettisham, King's Lynn and West Norfolk, >100£
21/07/2019: My daughter and I have been going to The Old Bank every year whilst on holiday for the last three years and the food is absolutely amazing. Words are just not enough to describe just how stunning and delicious the food is and the passion that obviously goes into cooking food to this level is outstanding. The staff are lovely, informative and very knowledgable about the food. It is by far the best restaurant in North Norfolk and we shall look forward to seeing them again next year.
16/07/2019: I was looking for somewhere a bit special for lunch after a trip to Sandringham for my Dads birthday but had to be dog friendly. I had my fingers crossed for the Old Bank and wow we weren't disapponted we all had a lovely lunch, the Roast beef was meltingly tender, superbly presented and the cheese board was excellent with real thought taken to the choices (so often a let down). The staff were so lovely to us and Bertie who was given a few treats too. Will most definately go back if in the area.

Maison Bleue Restaurant

Abbeygate, St Edmundsbury
19/07/2019: Yet again, another superb meal at Maison Bleue. Everything from the ambience, food and service our recent visit was thoroughly enjoyed by all four of us.
14/07/2019: We love this French restaurant . The food is amazing and service fabulous and unobtrusive. I would never hesitate to recommend this restaurant a true gem . It is some of the best food I have eaten . The cheese board is divine . Good price set menu Tuesday -Saturday lunchtime . Do book in advance as always full .

Bure River Cottage Restaurant

St Benet, North Norfolk, >100£
13/07/2019: Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere and great service! We went as a large party of 10 but nothing was too much trouble. All the food was cooked fresh and tasted incredible. I had the prawns to start (see picture) and then whole sea bass for main which was on another level! The white chocolate cheesecake for dessert was heavenly. Wether you are local to the area or on holiday, this restaurant is a must.
13/07/2019: A fish only enterprise and not cheap but wow, the quality! Local fresh fish, beautifully cooked. And not just the fish, the vegetables were cooked to perfection as well. Add to that excellent service, friendly and unobtrusive.

Restaurant 22

West Chesterton, Cambridge, 60-100£
12/06/2019: What a great meal, pure and simple, almost every single point was perfect.
10/06/2019: Like many people arriving at Restaurant 22, we had quite high expectations. There have been a lot of good things written about the place, and the 6 week wait for a table did nothing to lower the anticipation.

The Green Man

Whittlesford, South Cambridgeshire, 20-30£
19/07/2019: The Green Man describes itself as a ‘community owned free house’ and has a bar and restaurant I would one-hundred per cent return to. Our experience was very pleasant and we enjoyed some great food with delightfully friendly service to boot. There are a selection of ales, Sommersby cider and Holsten lager on draught and we also sampled a bottle of their house wine. The drinks were brought over to us with a smile from the bar.
14/07/2019: Popped in for an early lunch on Saturday, what a lovely place!

The Bell Inn - Bovingdon

Bovingdon, Flaunden and Chipperfield, Dacorum
15/07/2019: The best Sunday roast we have had, ever, in a pub! Cooked to perfection, amazing Yorkshire puddings, 3 different veg. Lovely friendly, helpful staff. I shall not bother going anywhere else for Sunday lunch from now on.
13/07/2019: Fantastic 80th celebration for my Mother, excellent service, we had the duck starter and steak and ale pie, fish and chips and two steaks, absolutely brilliant, it made her birthday! Will definitely be back as want to try a Sunday lunch!

The Buxhall Crown

Onehouse, Mid Suffolk, 20-30£
20/07/2019: We like to visit Suffolk once a year and since discovering the Buxhall Crown a couple of years ago, always make a point of having a meal there.
15/07/2019: Friendly staff, great drinks on tap

The Lowestoft Tandoori

Harbour, Waveney
21/07/2019: Faultless food never fails to disappoint. Highly recommend. Top sevice and will definitely be ordering again thank you Lowestoft tandoori
21/07/2019: I’ve used Lowestoft Tandoori for curry delivery since I discovered them last year (after family raved about their restaurant visit) and their food is always fabulous. However, there was a problem last night (later found out it was a power cut way beyond their control) but they dealt with it all magnificently as soon as they could. Most companies could learn a lot about brilliant customer service from them. All their food is gorgeous but the saag paneer is something special...treat yourselves, pronto!

St Helena

Elstow, Bedford, 45-60£
21/07/2019: Absolutely exceptional... a superb dining experience from start to finish... beautiful setting, relaxed drinks in wonderful garden to peruse the menu. Order, then approached by the highly attentive staff to our table when things are ready.
19/07/2019: Unusually this top restaurant hides its light under the proverbial bushel, not advertising its services or even its presence in the village ! However, once you find it, the journey becomes entirely worthwhile, starting with the walk through the very attractive garden and the friendly greeting on arrival. There is a fairly extensive prix fixe menu, which should cater for most tastes. The cooking was uniformly excellent, with great flavour combinations and sensible portion sizes. Presentation was unfussy and the service was both efficient and friendly. We visited on a quiet midweek evening, which seemed slightly lacking in atmosphere, though the surroundings were pleasant and relaxed. Overall we really appreciated the special quality that we recognised we had enjoyed, and will certainly make it our business to return again when the opportunity arises.

Vita Bella

Bicknacre and East and West Hanningfield, Chelmsford, 45-60£
22/07/2019: Have just been to Vita Bella for my hubby's birthday. We have tried on several occasions to get in over the past 3 years, but because it is so popular have failed miserably. Having had many wonderful nights here, including my daughters 21st birthday and the night my husband proposed to me, I really wanted to go there for his special evening. I booked 3 weeks in advance to make sure we could get in this time. Moral of this story. early to avoid disappointment.
22/07/2019: Booked a Sunday evening to celebrate our anniversary and it was perfect, as always. From start to finish you are made welcome so you can enjoy the food and drink. You are not hurried so it is a pleasurable dining experience. Booking is essential as it is very popular - and rightly so. The complimentary liquor and cupcake is a very nice touch. We will be back.

The Star Inn

Walberswick and Wenhaston, Suffolk Coastal, <20£
14/07/2019: We are a group of mature ladies who plan a weekend once a year to commemorate a dear friend who lost her fight with the big C! Anyway booked in a beautiful lodge just down the road from the local pub The Star we prebooked our first evening meal there. Sadly we were not impressed with the menu but more so with the unfriendly and to be honest very rude owners! According to locals they apparently do not warm to strangers? Well sorry then you are in the wrong business. Having been brought up in a pub the first rule is to treat everyone as a regular and be happy! Needless to say we did not return!
24/06/2019: Great food, relaxing ambience, superb real ale. Friendly staff make any visit a welcoming, homely experience. Highly recommended. The Star Inn never disappoints.

The Brisley Bell Bed & Breakfast

Taverner, Breckland, 20-30£
22/07/2019: Welcoming, staff excellent, right balance of professionalism and friendliness. Very relaxed setting, clean and plenty of space between tables. Good selection on the menu and excellent food, well presented and served. Slow cooked roast lamb - excellent! Lovely rural setting.
20/07/2019: Prior to our latest visit I had decided I wouldn't bother with a review. Only because it would seem other establishments are only interested in positive feedback and often have an answer for everything.

Galloway's Restaurant

Aspley and Woburn, Central Bedfordshire
03/07/2019: From the moment we walked in to Galloways it was a wonderful experience. The proprietors were so welcoming and the service was excellent. The food was the best we’ve had anywhere locally and the staff were so efficient but had such a sense of fun and as we love to have a bit of banter, I suppose you would call it, they responded in such a way as to make our evening one to remember in lots of ways other than the food and the wonderful ambience of the place itself. Our wish was their command. They couldn’t do enough to make our visit superb. We plan to make this restaurant our one to celebrate all our special occasions and this goes for the friends that came with us also.
03/06/2019: Excellent service. Lovely atmosphere. Great wine. Chicken pakora amazing. Fillet steak perfectly cooked. Can’t wait to visit again.

Morston Hall Restaurant

Glaven Valley, North Norfolk, 60-100£
21/07/2019: I’ve been coming here since it opened along with my family and it never disappoints. The food and wine needs no commentary as it is top notch and in my view good value for the quality. The hotel is in a beautiful setting and you have a range of rooms to choose from together with the beautiful gardens for aperitifs and coffees. The service is always excellent as well.
18/07/2019: Very nice setting a very nice building. Service is at times uncertain and clumsy. The food was a tad underwhelming, in view of the Michelin star. The wine list is well selected and with decent markup. Prices are OK.

Pea Porridge

Eastgate, St Edmundsbury
18/07/2019: Went there for lunch with my wife on way back from short holiday in Norfolk. I had snails, bacon and bone marrow for starter, wife had scallops in herb butter sauce. For mains I had rabbit and wife had skate. Pudding was tarte tatin (obvs). Everything was great and, in particular in these times of tiny plates of over-faffed around food, portion size was generous. Service was excellent. Price with a couple of drinks and two coffees was £85 which, given the superb quality of the food, was great value for minority
14/07/2019: We had been to Pea Porridge before - a couple of years back, and needed a quick lunch before going to a wedding. Had a nice glass of Gruner Veltliner, I had the Silver Mullet, my wife had the Ibaiama ham. Lovely food, will definitely be back!
