Dambusters Inn

Scampton, West Lindsey
18/06/2019: As you enter you aare struck by the memorabi;ia on the walls of the Dambusters, it is a living history lesson and the food is very good too. Best to order a sandwich if its your first visit as there is so much to see and read the food will go cold.
14/06/2019: Went for an early evening drink here. Have been a few times before and it is a nice pub. Decided to order some chips as a snack. Felt like this was an inconvenience to the staff, we were then charged £6.50 for each portion of chips. When we queried this we were told it was for a large portion, it was not. Felt very unwelcome and that our custom was not appreciated. Will think twice before going back.

The White Hart

Dunholme, West Lindsey
11/05/2019: This is a nice pub which I have visited several times for lunch. I cannot fault the food which is wholesome and enjoyable. Also reasonably priced
01/05/2019: It was recommended to us for a good steak meal. I wasn’t disappointed. Both of us enjoyed the starters and the main meal. The staff were lovely and very polite. Well worth a visit, thank you.

The Carpenters Arms

Fiskerton, West Lindsey, <20£
02/06/2019: Totally disagree with the previous review and we were warmly welcomed by the landlord and staff at the Carpenters. Sunday lunch was delicious and our two young children had a great selection of food. We will definitely be back!
31/05/2019: First of all, I would like to clarify that a couple of weeks ago I would have awarded more than two stars. However, a recent visit has very much left a sour taste in my mouth.

Albion Tea Room

Market Rasen, West Lindsey, >100£
07/06/2019: What a lovely little find. Incredibly friendly owner and the best salad I’ve ever eaten. I could sit here for hours!!
07/06/2019: Having walked into Albion Tea Shop, I was more than surprised about what a treasure I had walked into. Welcomed by a gorgeous smile, i was quite taken aback by the menu and had a hard choice as it all looked gorgeous. I picked the chicken and bacon salad.....hands down the best salad I’ve ever had! You can taste it’s been made from fresh and it was topped off by buttered bread and home made wedges. A wonderful find and very much recommended

The Cross Keys Country Inn & Restaurant

Stow, West Lindsey
16/06/2019: Visited on Thursday as a family of 4 for dinner. The meal was fabulous. The produce was fresh and beautifully cooked. The presentation was lovely. The staff are always so helpful and friendly. Visited a few times with friends and also enjoyed a Tapas night - great food and good fun. If you want to ensure you receive a quality meal the Cross Keys is the place to visit.
15/06/2019: The ribs just go for the ribs. Drove up from hull for my second visit to this great little pub ready to experience the ribs again. I must say I was a little nervous about it due to the first time I went the ribs where amazing so I was praying for the same quality. Needless to say I shouldn’t have been nervous as they where amazing and just as good as I remembered. A tiny bit crispy on the outside and melt in the mouth fall off the bone on the inside, with the most amazing mopped BBQ sauce. These are the best ribs I’ve ever had. Well done to chef. I will back for more and can’t wait.

MaCh Restaurant

Nettleham, West Lindsey, 20-30£
10/06/2019: We booked last minute having just arrived in Lincoln on a weekend away and didn’t know area. A little nervous when we arrived at what looked to be like a service station. However it was amazing ! Tables were all full with good atmosphere. Service excellent, food excellent and the Indian beer on tap was great! A great find, would definitely recommend and go back.
30/05/2019: Never ever had a bad meal here and must have been 20 times over the years. Service spot on and food top notch. Quality meat. Was packed this evening with a great atmosphere despite it being midweek so you do need to book. We like the decor too. Some people dress up some don’t - it’s pretty relaxed.

kings head

Market Rasen, West Lindsey
15/06/2019: We spent a night with friends Bev and Gary in Market Rasen and they took us to the Kings Head in Tealby for dinner. As you pull up in the car park you can’t fail to be enchanted by the quaint looks of the building. Everyone in the pub was warm and friendly. The beer was really well looked after and had a great head on it. The menu and the specials board are a pain! Everything on it sounds delicious and it’s a torment to choose a meal. Don’t worry though, whatever you do choose will be cooked and presented to you in a fantastic way. Each of our chosen meals and courses was delicious. We were never rushed and everything about the Kings Head was truly relaxing. Fantastic place, thanks to Bev & Gary for a great choice of restaurant.
15/06/2019: Kings Head in Tealby is a beautiful Thatched building with plenty of character.

Upton Fish Shop

Lea, West Lindsey, <20£
18/01/2019: Be prepared to be transported back to another era, a time when in typical British fashion, we queued without complaint and talked to those other hungry souls also queuing, about all manner of subjects like we'd known them all our lives. Well worth the wait!!
22/11/2018: Without question, the greatest fish and chips I have ever eaten - served out of an authentic, little shop. Fresh fish, crispy batter, flavoursome chips. And they rarely get it wrong! For me anyway. Not much more to be added. 5 out of 5. World class. And virtually on my door step, too. Aren’t I lucky?

The Wishing Well

Cherry Willingham, West Lindsey
14/06/2019: Had a pleasant evening meal, hot and served without any fuss. Clean and tidy, not overly expensive and plenty of it
05/06/2019: The pub is located in the heart of the village with a lovely, friendly feel about. It is highly recommended for the food it serves and also has music nights and other various entertainment during the week. There is an outside seating area too. The staff are very friendly and offer a brilliant service in the dining area. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area for either a drink or a bite to eat.

Johnson's Fish & Chip shop

Gainsborough South-West, West Lindsey
08/05/2019: Staff brilliant and shop spotless best chips ever .every time portions well its a loads peas brilliant Cod and haddock. Most bus drivers on break will nip over and if unlucky they get back to crew room and get ambushed by the rest of us .
07/05/2019: Excellent fish and chips here best I've had in a long time. Very generous portions, staff polite and friendly Absolutely fab

Clayton's Corner

Waddingham and Spital, West Lindsey
31/05/2019: Just amazing as always. Great food and service. Nice to see that existing staff are taking the management role.
27/05/2019: We saw this cafe on the way to North Kelsey and thought it looked welcoming and worth a visit. On our way back home, we called in. We got a warm welcome and checked out the menu that was quite extensive. We went for eggs benedict and the breakfast panini. The portions were large and delicious. Coffee was good too and they looked to have a lovely selection of home made cakes. There were quite a few cyclists there and it certainly catered for them with bike stands. I would return if in the local area.

Fox and Hounds

Lea, West Lindsey
02/06/2019: Stopped here overnight. It’s a lovely little find with nice rooms and great food with BIG portions. Will definitely be back. Lovely to wake up, open the doors and hear the birds singing. I sat watching the bunnies, pheasants, horses and geese. Totally relaxing. And a great quiz every Friday night at 9pm.
07/05/2019: very dissapointed in the food, very easy meals to cook but clearly they were warmed up, will not be returning.

Papa's Fish and Chip Restaurant

Gainsborough South-West, West Lindsey
16/06/2019: This place is amazing and I would strongly recommend dining here. Streets ahead of its competition in my opinion. The team looked after our family on Fathers Day very well. Extremely friendly and everyone loved the food. My father is disabled and they went out of their way to make him feel comfortable.
12/06/2019: Been here on a number of occasions. Sometimes there's a queue particularly at about 5.30/6 on a Friday night but worth the wait. Fish and chips cooked to perfection with good quality fish. My daughter's also tried the veggie burger which she says is also good. Lots of chip shops in Gainsborough but I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Yarborough Arms

Lea, West Lindsey
10/06/2019: Ordered a pesto and brie wrap and it was literally caked in pesto, so greasy it feel apart and was inedible. Salad was caked in oil so I asked to change it for the chutney and brie with no oil on the salad, which was no trouble at all.....until it came back still with pesto all over the Brie and salad and plate swimming in water. On the plus side, Sarah the waitress was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her and they serve Birra Moretti so it wasn’t all bad would return but would definitely make a different choice next time!
16/05/2019: Went with hubby for tea, he had the large steak and ale pie with chips and peas , word of warning make sure you are good and hungry the portions are extremely generous , I had the chicken strips with chips and salad . Both meals were good and we enjoyed them. Staff were friendly and welcoming .

The King William

Scampton, West Lindsey
25/02/2018: We visited today, fancying a pub dinner over the traditional chains available on the Brayford- and were somewhat disappointed. After ordering the steak and ale pie and fish and chips, and purchasing drinks, we were then told five minutes later the pie had ran out, which was the main reason we had decided on a pub lunch in the first place. However, as we had purchased drinks we decided to stay and changed the pie to vegetarian chilli. When the food arrived the 'fish and chips' was more a portion of fish, with ten or so chips provided - a very small portion for £10.95 compared to some more prestigious restaurants which serve similar food. We complained to the waiter who went to the kitchen to ask if there was a reason why there were so few chips, and we were told this was the expected portion size and there was nothing else they could do. The fish was nice - and the vegetarian chilli was okay too - but nothing extraordinary for the price. Upon paying for our tab, our waiter took off 10% which was a kind gesture - however we likely will not visit again as there are many places in Lincoln with better food for the price charged. The service cannot be faulted.
25/02/2018: Dropped in for weekday evening meal. My wife had Moroccan vegetarian tagine which was quite well prepared and spiced. I had a steak and ale pie with chips and greens. My meal arrived as a tower with soggy chips in gravy at the bottom, greens in the middle, a good looking, good sized pie on the top and a jug of gravy on the side. Unfortunately the pie was at least a third empty and the meat at the bottom was verging on the dry side, although it tasted okay. The gravy had no meaty flavour to it so couldn't help in improving the pie. My pint of Dartmoor Best was not good and a following pint of Southwold Lighthouse was not good at all. I'd suggest you walk the length of Brayford Wharf and visit the Horse and Groom instead.
