The Snooty Fox

Wigston Fields, Oadby and Wigston

Navigation Inn

Wigston All Saints, Oadby and Wigston
15/03/2019: Our first visit, we came on 10th March 2019 - Loved the food, great selection and lots of it, service was really good, atmosphere was friendly, the Chef came out several times and asked if everything was ok as did the waitress, we will be back thank you
03/03/2019: Lovely down to earth pub , Food and service was excellent , friendly staff would recommend to family and friends

Saab's Grill

Wigston St Wolstan's, Oadby and Wigston, <20£
02/03/2019: After reading reviews we chose Saabs to go to for my birthday meal, we were not disappointed. The welcome and atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed, the food was very good, especially the sizzler starter. Highly recommended and a return is on the cards
25/02/2019: i love this place you have parking good food and amazing staff working at this place. I would recommend this to everyone

The Wheel Inn

Oadby St Peter's, Oadby and Wigston
18/02/2019: Came here for a small family meal, this place has had very mixed reviews but we found it to be great. The staff couldn't do enough for our party of people, with drinks ordered very quickly, we were given time to make our choices for food and we didn't have to wait long for the food to arrive. There wasn't a huge choice being a Sunday but the Veggie choice was extremely tasty, really enjoyed it, a real effort there. Definitely worth nipping in to try this place.
08/02/2019: I have visited this place twice recently and on both occasions we had lovely home cooked food. As a vegetarian I often struggle with pub food but there is a good choice here and usually a vegetarian special on the board too!

Leeja Palace

Oadby St Peter's, Oadby and Wigston
03/03/2019: It’s the second time that we have been and again, the food and portions were fantastic. You can tell that the veg in the curries is fresh as it’s firm and has a little crunch. The rices is also fantastic, really fresh you can tell it’s not a microwave job.
25/02/2019: This place is so good, its a local to me and my family. The food never has let us down and the staff are great

Cuisine of India

Wigston Meadowcourt, Oadby and Wigston, 20-30£
24/02/2019: I visited today for the first time for the buffet and I was absolutely appalled. On first impressions, the atmosphere was dire! I would go as far as to compare it to how you would feel visiting an old people’s home, that’s how it felt and most people there are elderly. The decor is so outdated and they have random photos on the wall for sale?! The waiters were SO awkward too, they just stand there and stare and make you feel uncomfortable. I’m also vegetarian and for the buffet they only had ONE vegetarian curry which was so poor and bland. My partner even had to ask for serviettes because they just couldn’t be asked to even set the table. This is NOT a restaurant, it is just a room at the back of a pub. I ate my food quickly and left and will not be visiting again. My partner and I both agreed that it was likely to be the worst ‘restaurant’ we’ve ever been to.
17/02/2019: The restaurant let me have a charity evening to raise funds for my London Marathon 2019. We raised £1290. I am supporting Scottish Alzeimers. Good atmosphere great food the turnout was fantastic. It is great that a local business supports local people. Thank you

The Spice Of India

South Wigston, Oadby and Wigston
03/02/2019: Very good India. Restaurant with take away and delivery service. Always friendly. Offer a discount if you collect. Can highly recommend the Biryani. Never used the restaurant, so cannot comment.
27/01/2019: Me and my partner have recently been converted to ‘The spice of India’ after a disappointing visit to another local Indian. We can’t believe we ever went to a different one after trying there food! But they confirmed that they really were lovely after I had a few girls round for my birthday in January and ordered a curry from there. Firstly after one to many I ordered our Indian takeaway on the just eat app and added into the note ‘knock loudly’ due to playing loud music throughout the night. This was my saving grace as stupidly I’d clicked on ‘collection’ rather than ‘delivery’. They promptly rang me after leaving the order to double check which service I required. Thank you for that attention to detail! Our Indian arrived promptly afterwards, piping hot and DELICIOUS. We had everything from butter chicken, chicken tikka, a chilli curry, seafood curry, an variety of nans and rice and every single dish was DELICIOUS! They also sent complementary popadoms and pickles. The girls all commented on how lovely they were and one who has actually been to India said it was the best curry she had ever tasted! I’ve never visited to the restaurant but the take away service is fantastic. And the best little touch is that the takeaway arrived with a complimentary bottle of fizz. (I am unsure whether they knew it was a birthday party or was just a kind gesture for the large order but thank you it was a lovely touch.)

The Lord Keeper of the Great Seal

Oadby St Peter's, Oadby and Wigston
15/03/2019: This is a busy pub but very warm and welcoming. Plenty of seating and a good family area. The drinks are very reasonably priced and you can buy a coffee or tea for £1.25. You take the mug you are given to the machine and choose your beverage. You can then go back for as many refills as you wish - great if you are driving. There is a good menu and many of the prices include a drink. The food is good quality and served very quickly.
13/03/2019: On the tables were promotional sheets advertising burgers however, when going to order we were informed they had ran out of them. If this was the case why hadn’t the sheets advertising them been taken off tables, a simple 30 second task? The disappointment continued when attempting to order other items, this included the chicken tikka and one of the steaks (cannot remember which one). I ended up having to order the most expensive item on the menu due to this which I felt was rather convenient. I understand things run out but it felt as though half the menu was out of stock.

Grange Farm

Oadby Woodlands, Oadby and Wigston
09/03/2019: Visited again for lunch. Food was good and service was also good.
03/03/2019: Very friendly service. Wide menu but limited choice for vegetarians. Liked the idea of £5.50 for a hot drink and mini pud.

Fayre and Square Horse and Hounds

Oadby St Peter's, Oadby and Wigston
07/10/2018: I stayed at the adjoining premier inn for a conference and had an evening meal and breakfast at this place which now calls itself the Fox Pond. In the evening I cod and chips: edible but the cod was small and the batter chewy. They have clearly taken to heart the comments on poor service so that we were interrupted about every 3 minutes to ask if the meal was OK. The next morning I chose the continental breakfast buffet: what was on offer was only part of what was advertised in the menus: as they add a disclaimer that some things may be unavailable or substituted there is presumably no redress. Although I arrived at 8, the opening time, many advertised items were missing: porridge (I had to ask for this and was initially told that it was only available with the "hot" breakfast despite being clearly shown on the buffet menu) mixed dried fruit mix, red berry mix, cinnamon & raisin bagels (only plain), blueberry mini muffins, pain aux raisins, bananas. The coffee was tepid and unpleasant, the croissants plasticcy. Definitely not worth the £7.95 charged.
16/09/2018: Closed! It was 8.58 pm on a Sunday and I was told we are closed! Says 10pm on web site, so taxi to a restaurant, mega! Just what you want after 13hr day a flat trye so you carnt go home! But hyho what do you care. Not happy!

Oadby St Peter's, Oadby and Wigston
17/03/2019: The in-laws bought us a groupon voucher for Christmas to use at Cheikhos. We decided to go on a Saturday and I rang on Wednesday to book. When I mentioned that I had a groupon voucher, I was rudely told that they dont take groupon customers on saturdays as thats their most busiest night however on this occasion he would as I rang early in the week. I thought, fair enough.
15/03/2019: Upon arriving at the Restaurant the waiter asked "how did you find out about this place?" So I mentioned Groupon. As soon as he heard this his tone completely changed. He became rude and abrupt, began pushing extras where the prices were unlisted in the menu and extortionate! He charged extra for the food paid using the voucher so it works out the same price as paying in full. He told us using the voucher means they were practically giving away the food for free. The quality of the food was so bad I wouldnt feed the homeless with it. If they do not like people using the vouchers there's a simple solution... stop advertising on it!

The William Wygston

Wigston St Wolstan's, Oadby and Wigston
22/02/2019: Ordered the brunch. Bacon burnt sausage cold. Returned it to be given plate too hot to touch bacon been flash fried. Shame really as it lets down the staff who were working hard front of house
19/02/2019: I went with a friend for lunch. We had two streaks and a bottle of wine for not much more than £20.00. The meals were lovely and the steak cooked to perfection, wine delicious too.

Wigston St Wolstan's, Oadby and Wigston
13/01/2019: Sat in drivethru for twenty minutes to get served. When finally got home found the main burger of my meal (three meals ordered) was missing. Rang to complain and was told if I come back they will give me a replacement meal. After informing them I was starting a night shift in twenty minutes. I was told they would replace the meal next time I visited just tell them I had spoke to Will. Went again two weeks later with my son and was refused the free meal saying Will has not worked here for three months. Will never step foot in McDonald’s again. When I rang customer service to complain they said it was a dispute at local level. Filed a complaint received an email saying it would be investigated. Had no further reply back.
22/12/2018: Absolutely fed up with queuing for 20 minutes at the drive through! Finally get to the point where I can order but still left sitting there while 4 other cars get served at the order point next to me! Order a large milkshake a McFlurry a hot chocolate and nugget happy meal but they’ve not got hot chocolate no McFlurry and no milkshake what an absolute joke! When I get to pay for it I get told to park in one of the 2 waiting bays but there is already 3 cars squeezed in there!

Tesco Extra - Leicester

Oadby Grange, Oadby and Wigston
19/03/2019: Used to use this cafe regular but it's safe to say I will not be returning again. Firstly waited 15 minutes in the queue (only 4 people in front of me) then met with BAD customer service. I believe the staff members name of "nicky" completely rude. Not even so much as an apology for the wait or even a polite "how can I help". The staff seem to think it is completely acceptable to shout at each other across the cafe regarding there duties not in the slightest bit professional. I ordered food to be sat waiting near on 20 minutes for this to arrive as well as other peoples food coming out first (who ordered after me) when I ask where my food is I am met with "yes iv got it here!" Asif it was completely fine that I had been waiting longer than those who ordered after me. No hair nets lots of face touching. sort it out Tesco!!
03/03/2019: Visited the local Tesco shopping centre excellent staff great offers aswell got some really good bargains
