The Snooty Fox

Wigston Fields, Oadby and Wigston
02/01/2019: Family of four ate at the pub on New Year’s Eve. All four of us massively enjoyed our meals and said it’s the best meal we had had in a long time. It was a special menu for new year which was slightly on the expensive side but we all said you pay for what you get and all enjoyed it so much so it didn’t matter. We were staying at Keswick Reach lodge retreat and it’s a ten minute car journey. Worth the travel, it’s the best in the area. We managed to thank the chef as we left.
24/10/2018: La última vez que visité Northern Lakes fue hace unos 12 años y los pubs servían comida básica, pasteles, papas fritas, etc.

Navigation Inn

Wigston All Saints, Oadby and Wigston
21/10/2018: Called in off canal. My other half had Turkey, I had beef. Turkey was succulent, beef was rather well done for me but you can't cook for everyone. Loads of hot perfectly cooked vegetables. With regard to service, everyone did their best. Chef came out to enquire about the quality of the meal & the young girls on duty were certainly attentive.
07/10/2018: Just been for a drink and meal here today can honestly say this was the best Sunday dinner I have ever had out. The roast beef was tender and the veg - broccoli cauliflower carrots parsnips and potatoes were all fresh nothing frozen the Yorkshire pud covered the plate and was to die for hubby had scampi chips and peas he said his was lovely too the lady chef even came out to speak to us I asked her how she made the giant yorkshires and she said that is her little secret ha ha it was delicious so just want to say a big thank you to the chef and all the staff for a lovely meal nothing was too much trouble for them would definitely recommend you to everyone. This is a picture of the Yorkshire the roast beef and roast spuds were underneath and veg and new potatoes separate (delicious )

Saab's Grill

Wigston St Wolstan's, Oadby and Wigston, <20£
25/11/2018: Amazing choice. They certainly aim to please. Big portions. It's our favourite local Indian. Lovely decor.
24/11/2018: Booked a table for Friday night for 4 persons. The restaurant has no atmosphere and is more of a cafe than a restaurant. We were sat next to the door so as you imagine we're frozen every time it opened. A Porch would be a good idea. The young man that served us was very good and helpful. The toilets are situated next to the kitchen- one toilet shared by men and ladies - not ideal. The drinks were poor, g&t; served in a half pint glass! No draught beer! The food was okay but not spicy even though we asked for one dish to be served masala hot.

09/12/2018: Really disappointed. So expensive and the food was just about edible. Spices not cooked out properly, watery sauces, horrible thick naan breads.... Never again!!
25/11/2018: Great menu and amazing service. We go here from time to time. You can relax in the bar area befor and after a meal. This makes for a great dining experience. Unhurried great decor. Great for large groups

The Wheel Inn

Oadby St Peter's, Oadby and Wigston
05/12/2018: As regular visitors for lunch, we are delighted that the previous high standards have been retained by the new management and that best chips anywhere are still available! We have noticed a few minor changes within the pub, generally for the better.
28/11/2018: Sunday lunch on our first visit after a recommendation we found home cooking with open fire and pleasent staff definitely worthy of a visit.

Leeja Palace

Oadby St Peter's, Oadby and Wigston
25/11/2018: Long (and probably boring) story - my husband’s family lived near here and used to go a lot, but we’ve moved away and blah blah... anyway, we found ourselves needing a curry on Saturday night and, my goodness, this place did not disappoint!
17/09/2018: We went as a group of friends. The service was good and the atmosphere was friendly. Good came out together was nice and hot and well seasoned. Good value for money. Will come again

Grange Farm

Oadby Woodlands, Oadby and Wigston
16/12/2018: We booked a table for a double family birthday celebration. We arrived on a really cold Saturday evening to walk into a busy pub which was only a few degrees warmer than the temperature outside. We had automatically all removed our outdoor clothing, but during the l-o-n-g wait for our starters to arrive, everyone found that their winter jumpers were no match for the coolness of the interior of this pub.
15/12/2018: We had a booking for a group, when we arrived we waited 20 minutes and then had to ask for food menus. Our server didn’t know how to use the system to order anything and forgot things constantly. It was -1 outside and about 1 degree inside the place. We ended up walking out before our drinks arrived over 30 minutes after arriving. Truly terrible.

The Lord Keeper of the Great Seal

Oadby St Peter's, Oadby and Wigston
28/11/2018: Like many Wetherspoons food in variable in quality and temperature. Reasonable prices casual pleasent surrounding. Beer great prices. Last visit food good.
17/11/2018: Upon arriving I ordered from the bar and was literally ignored by the available person on the bar. He went through all the people who were currently being served and those who had been served, drink in hand. He then preceded to serve me but after handing me the drink ignored me and didn’t say anything. I took my seat and after finishing my drink made 2 further orders via the app. The first drink via the app took 10 minutes to arrive despite the bar being quiet or ‘dead’. When ordering my 2nd drink via the app it arrived within 30 seconds with the bar being busy at this point. I was happy with the person who brought me my drink the 2 times I ordered via the app but was very disappointed with the member of staff that took my order at the bar.

Fayre and Square Horse and Hounds

Oadby St Peter's, Oadby and Wigston
07/10/2018: I stayed at the adjoining premier inn for a conference and had an evening meal and breakfast at this place which now calls itself the Fox Pond. In the evening I cod and chips: edible but the cod was small and the batter chewy. They have clearly taken to heart the comments on poor service so that we were interrupted about every 3 minutes to ask if the meal was OK. The next morning I chose the continental breakfast buffet: what was on offer was only part of what was advertised in the menus: as they add a disclaimer that some things may be unavailable or substituted there is presumably no redress. Although I arrived at 8, the opening time, many advertised items were missing: porridge (I had to ask for this and was initially told that it was only available with the "hot" breakfast despite being clearly shown on the buffet menu) mixed dried fruit mix, red berry mix, cinnamon & raisin bagels (only plain), blueberry mini muffins, pain aux raisins, bananas. The coffee was tepid and unpleasant, the croissants plasticcy. Definitely not worth the £7.95 charged.
16/09/2018: Closed! It was 8.58 pm on a Sunday and I was told we are closed! Says 10pm on web site, so taxi to a restaurant, mega! Just what you want after 13hr day a flat trye so you carnt go home! But hyho what do you care. Not happy!

McDonald's

Wigston St Wolstan's, Oadby and Wigston
27/10/2018: No customer service just excuses don't bother with this one just shy of 20minutes for a coffee and a porridge excuse was couldn't find the jam this is not a fast food outlet
28/08/2018: Visited with my two little boys, first thing I needed was the baby change and this was clean and well maintained. Placed order on screen to be brought to our table - the speed of service was quicker than I've experienced at other local McD's. Food was good and fresh, my boys loved their Happy Meals. The general cleanliness and tidiness was very good. We arrived at 11.40 and it was quite quiet - 20 minutes later there was a big rush.

Cheikhos

Oadby St Peter's, Oadby and Wigston
28/11/2018: It's a small venue disabled may find difficulty. Customer service needs improving to match the food. The price without discount is high. Drinks are pricey for the venue.
16/11/2018: Food very nice but everywhere could do with a good clean. Toilets terrible. Menus need cleaning felt grubby to touch. Shame as food is lovely.

The William Wygston

Wigston St Wolstan's, Oadby and Wigston
18/12/2018: Now as I’ve stated before about this place it really can be hit or miss on the service, cleanliness and quality of food. My last but one review was a miss, and my last review was a hit. This time was definitely a miss. My wife and myself went in for breakfast, and a lot of people had the same idea as the place was very busy. I got served at the bar very quickly, so kudos to the bar staff who were working efficiently and professionally to keep the queues to a minimum. Considering the number of customers waiting for meals, ours was brought to the table fairly quickly – within about twenty minutes. All good so far, but here’s where we hit a bump – the only items on the plate that were fairly warm were the sausages and the hash browns – everything else was either lukewarm (bacon/eggs) or cold (beans/toast). We called the waiter over, who apologised and took the meals away. Now give the chef his due, we had two piping hot meals back on our table within ten minutes, so well done for that, but this is how it should have been on the first attempt! Now I’m guessing that ‘p424, Manager at The William Wygston’ will have something to say to refute this review, as he normally does, but this is exactly our experience on this occasion. I have noticed a change for the better since the new management took over, but this lack of consistency really lets the establishment down, and stops us going in more often.
11/12/2018: A good place to go for a reasonably priced meal with a drink included. Not posh nosh but great value and a good range of dishes.

Tesco Extra - Leicester

Oadby Grange, Oadby and Wigston
29/11/2018: يعتبر الفرع لا باس فيه .. يوفر الأساسيات .. يفيد بالأغلب الي ساكنين حولينه فقط .. لا باس فيه اذا كنت تحتاجه
06/11/2018: Tesco in Hamilton, Leicester is a large store selling food, homewares, gardening goods, school uniform clothing, mens, ladies and children's clothing. Though the gardening goods and school uniform wear are seasonal and not available all year round. There is also a photo service centre, for approved passport photo taking and photo related items to buy. The customer service desk is excellent, and returns and exchanges are dealt with quickly. Also a cafe and toilets available here too, and large car park and bus stop a couple of minutes walk away. Usually has what I need, although never a staff member around to unlock changing rooms when you need to try on clothing! Also petrol station very close by. Great store overall.
