Buxton Central, High Peak, 30-45£
24/12/2018: A great selection on the festive menu, all cooked and presented to perfection, served by attentive and knowledgeable staff. Great value for money too.
23/12/2018: We have just returned to our hotel having enjoyed a fabulous festive meal at The Columbine Restaurant. My wife and I are both vegetarians and the meal was outstanding. Each course was imaginatively created and presented beautifully. The ambience was relaxing and the overall effect was one of peaceful, relaxing epicurean delight. Kim is very friendly and helpful and we will definitely be returning. Thank you!

Buxton Central, High Peak
28/12/2018: The way they handled the telephone conversation ( regarding reservation ) is very warm and welcoming. We had Greek beer to start with and ordered Greek wine with our main courses.
10/12/2018: I went here with a friend for an early dinner. It is a very pleasant restaurant and nicely furnished. The service was very good and the waiter extremely pleasant. My friend, a vegetarian was well served with various options. For a main course I had the Lamb Shank which was very good although slightly overdone in parts. Overall a very nice evening.

Ye Olde Nags Head

Hope Valley, High Peak
17/12/2018: Really nice pub interior with the real fires and a nice mix of old and a bit of new here and there, great selection of beers as well. We had never eaten here so the three of us had a meal on a Monday night which was very quiet indeed. Staff very friendly and helpful and soon corrected a missing extra on my burger, the thai curry was awesome and full of flavour and the burger very good too. Pity about the pizza as the base was burnt underneath some parts slightly some more so. So the chef must have had a bad day {even though it was not busy} I guess and the kind waitress felt embarrassed and could not apologise enough when collecting up. My wife had had enough of the pizza so this was no big issue.
16/12/2018: A real gem. Lots of nice pubs in the Castleton and Edale area but this one for me stands out. Open fire places with burning logs gives a lovely warm glow to the place. Exposed original wooden beams above with stone floor in places. As you walk in you realise its a truley beautiful picture perfect old pub! That being said it's clearly been well kept and maintained over the years.

W Potts and Son

New Mills West, High Peak
17/09/2018: This shop has been in business for years. And still has that old fashioned feel about it. Fresh bread daily, nice cakes, pies , sandwiches, all made on the premises .Well worth a visit .Please bring a shopping bag as they are enviromently friendly
27/08/2018: Worth getting up and getting here early; the sausage roll with caramalised onion is divine. The bread is gorgeous, they close after lunch

Furness Vale fish bar

Limestone Peak, High Peak
06/10/2018: I regularly walk over from New Mills (Passing other chippys on the way!) to enjoy the fantastic Fish and Chips! If you're after the best chippy in the area then this is it! No contest!
30/08/2018: Amazing, friendly, speedy staff. Delicious chips, fish, curry sauce, gravy and sausages. Lamppost for pooches! 🐶 £3.50 ‘mini-deal’ a true bargain!

The Old Hall Inn

Blackbrook, High Peak, >100£
18/12/2018: Visited with friends for our annual Christmas get together. Lovely olde worlde pub to start on a positive but no cucumber in the whole place for a Hendricks gin & tonic (so lime was used as a substitute- not good). The room where we sat was so dark and dismal we had to use our phones as torches to read the menus. The starters were very nice and I can recommend the chicken liver parfait. However the lamb shank was as tough as old boots and very sinewy. The other roast meals looked like veg and potatoes were missing off the plates as everything was on one side of the plate. The coffees were served without mints or little biscuits and a tia Maria coffee was served very strangely as a floater coffee and separate glass of tia Maria - obviously the waitress did not understand the meaning of liquor coffee!!
07/12/2018: Great lunch at the Old Hall, fantastic food, good ambience and a happy, smiley and efficient waitress ... what more could you want for a memorable family meal out. Thanks Old Hall, we’ll be back.

Woodlands Guest House and Tea Rooms

St John's, High Peak
12/12/2018: We went as a family for Boxing Day 2017 all I can say is we were not disappointed the food was devine the service excellent. Could,t believe the value for money so sad they are not open this Boxing Day
10/12/2018: We enjoyed the view, location and food was delicious. Not the most child friendly but they didn’t mind that we had 4 kids with us!

Glossop Cafeteria

Howard Town, High Peak
26/12/2018: Cracking place for a cheap nosh. I’m guessing the person who said it was terrible was one of those cyclists he asked to leave. Can you believe there were four of them taking a full table up while the place was rammed. They were sharing a bottle of water between them. Typical selfish cyclists - try riding single file going up narrow roads you fools
12/12/2018: Glossop cafeteria does a great breakfast with an equally good cup of tea. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. The only thing i think stops this breakfast from being excellent is the sausages. This is only my opinion as my sister likes them.

Casa di Pizza

Whaley Bridge, High Peak
16/11/2018: Love is a fine wine, excellent food, and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. This place is one of our perfect date nights.

Old Sun Inn

02/01/2019: Particularly liked the small portion option with the fish and chips. Just what we needed after a Christmas of overindulgence
23/12/2018: What a lovely evening we've just had at The Old Sun Inn, from the delicious starters, traditional turkey dinner and lovely puds, my gluten free needs with were catered for with no problems too Brilliant service and a warm welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely be back. Thankyou

Rose Cottage Cafe

Hope Valley, High Peak, <20£
03/12/2018: Been here lots of times always great quick friendly service , freshly prepared delicious food, beautifully presented. Immaculately clean and cosey surrounding ..even better at Christmas with the twinkling Christmas trees outside ..give a try you truley won't be disappointed 👍
02/12/2018: Called in with all the family had breakfast all round. Food was excellent hot & fresh, staff made us feel very welcome. Was very well priced also. Went back next day in the afternoon had tea and cake. The fruit cake was to die for was told it was made on the premises. Again was made to feel very welcome.

The Three Roofs Cafe

Hope Valley, High Peak, >100£
12/12/2018: A nice little watering hole in castleton simple but nice food friendly staff but can get very busy overall a nice place to grab a bite to eat.
11/12/2018: Popped in here on a cold miserable afternoon with my daughter. We had a lovely meal hot, tasty and plentiful. My daughter had a burger which she pronounced as beautiful and I had meat and potatoe pie. Improved our mood immediately. Will definitely go again next time I am in the area.

St. Moritz Restaurant

Buxton Central, High Peak
02/01/2019: This restaurant never disappoints. Great Italian food at sensible prices freshly cooked and served with a smile! Visited in the evening post theatre and we could not fault it -thank you
01/01/2019: Great restaurant with really good atmosphere and good cookin. Would benefit from better vegetarian options.

The Knights Table

Buxton Central, High Peak
24/11/2018: After staying at The Knights Table in October we went back in November for Sunday Lunch with our friends it was just fabulous so tasty and fresh in a beautiful dinning room we has booked because it gets so busy we will find another excuse to go again.
23/11/2018: It was a pea souper and that was just the journey to the pub but when we arrived we were made really welcome. The service and food was excellent especially the black pudding starter. The liver bacon and mushrooms went down a treat and a great afternoon was had by all. Last time we were were in there was when it was the Travellers rest and a good number of years ago. I will not leave it so long to return, really enjoyed it. Only one downside the Knights must have been a lot stronger than me with better backs..... The seats are very upright and as eavy as lead but hey plenty of space for the Knights to park great service and food

The Packhorse Inn

New Mills West, High Peak, 20-30£
11/12/2018: We called in on Saturday for a drink and booked a table for the same evening, right next to an open fire, the landlord is a true gent, i could sit at the bar and chat to him all evening, so friendly and nothing is too much. The food was excellent, huge pie full of filling, plenty on chips and mushy peas. Dessert was equally as good. Nothing fancy just proper food in a proper pub. We will be back!!
03/11/2018: We were welcomed from the moment we walked in and made to feel part of the family. Wonderful food and so much we struggled to manage dessert! And the rhubarb cider is to die for .......
