Buxton Central, High Peak, 30-45£
19/07/2019: My Mother and I were visiting Buxton as part of our 2019 tour of the UK coming from New Zealand. I had done my research on fine dining restaurants in Buxton on Trip Advisor and found The Columbine. As many have, I booked on the strength of the reviews I read.
17/07/2019: Not for the first time, we enjoyed a delicious meal at this gem of a restaurant in central Buxton.

Rose Cottage Cafe

Hope Valley, High Peak, <20£
22/06/2019: Enjoyed a lovely lunch in the garden at the rear of the cafe as it was a warm, sunny day. The staff were lovely and brought out a yummy chew and bowl of water for our little dachshund. There is also a covered area outside should the weather be "iffy!" I had cheese and pickle on lovely, soft bread with a small salad garnish, followed by a fresh and fluffy fruit scone with proper clotted cream and strawberry jam - absolutely delicious! Highly recommended!
21/06/2019: Very welcoming with a almost hidden tea garden at the rear. The coffee was excellent and the standard of the food served was of the highest standard . Fish and chips done right proper!!

Casa di Pizza

Whaley Bridge, High Peak
18/07/2019: After a lazy morning, and a wonderful afternoon at the Treak Cliff caven, we finished our last day in the area with an early supper at Casa Di Pizza, a small, fresh looking restaurant in the centre of Whaley Bridge.
09/06/2019: Absolute love this place. Food is always lovely and fresh. The mrs loves the seafood rissotto. Staff are always so welcoming, we try to go as often as possible.

The Pack Horse

Hayfield, High Peak, <20£
05/07/2019: Third visit and it just gets better each time. Three course set menu with wonderful flavours is definitely worth trying. I will try the the a la carte next time that looks great too..... Lovely welcome and great staff adds to the experience.
30/06/2019: We visited The Pack Horse today 30th June. We travelled over from North Mcr after reading reviews, and we wasn’t disappointed. The four of us agreed it’s the best Sunday roast we’d ever tasted, the vanilla bean creme brulee & the chocolate honeycomb with stout ice cream was also a winner. The host, a lady named Emma was really friendly and welcoming and we’ll definitely be back..Stop reading this and go and give it a visit.

The Royal Oak Inn

Buxton Central, High Peak
14/07/2019: We tried the Royal Oak when staying locally for a week, partly because it is open when other places in the immediate area are closed. We were completely outfaced by the size of the helpings. Yes, we could have left food on our plates but hate the waste. As soon as we could, we abandoned this pub for another.
09/07/2019: We stopped for lunch on Sunday whilst having a walk, all the food we had as a group was excellent - freshly prepared and quickly serviced. The garden was very dog friendly and service was good outside although it was busy inside and out.

The Old Hall Inn

Blackbrook, High Peak, >100£
18/07/2019: Called here for tea one evening. We sat in the beer garden, was very nice and chilled out. Service was good. Food was good over all very good!
11/07/2019: We arrived very late owing to delayed flight from Northern Ireland and transport difficulties. Premises in darkness, but Dan arrived with 5 minutes after phone call to show us to our room. Staff went out of their way to help us after we had a problem with car hire. They organised car hire (and also priced option of rail travel and routes) as well as offering to drive us to car hire company (or to train station)! Food was fabulous in restaurant, both lunch and evening meal. Will definitely stay here again.

Sett Valley Cafe

Sett, High Peak
15/07/2019: This is everything you would want from a cafe. Perfect food and drink, the friendliest staff, a wide range to choose from especially the cakes, and practical if you are walking, cycling, or just driving past.
17/05/2019: A really lovely place...great service and menu .. lovely food well reccomend!! 😊😊✌❤ dogs welcome ( I think) lovely staff and owners 😊😊enjoy !!

Buxton Central, High Peak
10/07/2019: We enjoyed dinner here on a Sunday evening. We were fortunate to get a table without a reservation as the place was full. Our food was very good but a bit more expensive than we had expected.
08/07/2019: There are lots of nice places to eat in Buxton and we’ve eaten in all of them. So not sure why we’ve left it this long. Well with the wait. I could eat the aubergine dip and calamari for ever. Just scrumptious . The stifado and the lamb chops just delicious. I love Greece on hols. This food does not disappoint. Service is excellent.

The Packhorse Inn

New Mills West, High Peak, 20-30£
17/07/2019: Lovely varied food. Generous portions and very tasty. Beautiful tranquil setting. Ben the Border Terrier got a warm welcome!
11/07/2019: We booked a table here for a hen party, after a trek in the Peak District, as the location is great.

53 Degrees North Buxton

Buxton Central, High Peak
06/07/2019: This restaurant seemed quite good from the reviews and you can ignore some of the bad ones as well. We both agreed that it would be nice to have dinner here. It’s a nice place and it was buzzing when we arrived. The staff greeted us and were very prompt at showing us to our table. Some people had commented on the menu but we found a nice variety and some more different ones like Tartiflette which is lovely but not often offered on a menu. We saw there was a good selections of gins as well. We both went for the chicken escalope with Serrano ham and mozzarella. These came up in good time and to be really honest they were really lovely. We both really enjoyed them. The spinach was substituted with green beans which were cooked perfectly. We were also asked if everything was ok. Nothing to complain about at all. I just have to say that once we had finished the meal we seemed to of been forgotten and nobody asked us if we wanted a desert or another drink. It looked like the staff got really busy as it was quite crowded. That is my only criticism. It’s a great place just to go for a drink and there is a good selection of beers as well. I also like to say that the taller blonde waitress worked very hard and was very helpful but probably could of done with some more help. We would certainly visit again when in Buxton.
03/07/2019: Along with our friends we are regulars, but that’s because it’s a top place!

W Potts and Son

Howard Town, High Peak
02/07/2019: Excellent Italian Restaurant good food good staff clean friendly and pleasant nothing too much trouble
29/06/2019: We visited recently and really enjoyed the food which was excellent. The service was good and we thought the bill was reasonable. Will definitely return.

Glossop Cafeteria

Howard Town, High Peak
11/07/2019: We are regular customers at this excellent cafe. However, today we were very disappointed to be hassled to leave the cafe to give our table to a new group. We had eaten a substantial breakfast, and then ordered another cup of tea. The lady serving us looked outside, where people were waiting, and asked if we wanted takeaway cups. We said “No, we want to drink them in here!” We left, with a very bad taste in our mouths. Profit over customer service. What a shame.
02/07/2019: Excellent value and Very friendly staff would highly recommend to anybody they also cater for everyone , families, couples, single people

The Three Roofs Cafe

Hope Valley, High Peak, >100£
19/07/2019: Ook super voor een grote kop erg goede cappucino in de morgen. Lekker met een jam&coconut; slice erbij. Top!
17/07/2019: Been here a few times and the food is excellent - not standard food something a bit different. Had chicken bacon and avocado salad with flatbread and chicken stack with salad. Both delicious good service with friendly staff and dog friendly

Hayfield, High Peak
16/07/2019: Sweet place, great food, friendly staff, great service, welcoming and helpful. The rooms are nice with great views at the back. Lovely area which is great for hiking, cycling and dog walking. Dogs are also allowed in the rooms and in the cafe. The prices are good and there is always fresh towels and a complimentary tasty chocolate. They are also a chocoletier and the breakfasts are substantial and tasty.
15/07/2019: My brother, his wife and I had visited Lyme Park and came home a long way round. My sister-in-law said she would treat us to coffee and cake, so we popped into Hafyield village. I hadn't been there for several years, so we were delighted to find Millie's tea room. We weren't disappointed when we went inside. The cakes, all homemade, were as delicious as they looked and the coffee wasn't bad either. The owner and her staff were efficient and very friendly. The owner brought out the young lady who had made our cakes to receive out praise.
