La Rock Restaurant

Sandiacre North, Erewash
15/12/2018: It has been way too long since we last visited La Rock. This is a first class restaurant with exceptional customer service. The attention to detail, charm and knowledge by all the front of house staff make the evening a total pleasure.
14/12/2018: Wedding anniversary dinner at La Rock was superb as always. From the ambiance, to the service to the presentation and quality of the food - faultless!

Durham Ox

Ilkeston Central, Erewash, <20£
26/12/2018: First time at Durham Ox for Xmas Day and have already booked for next year. Everything exceeded expectations. Food was delicious, just the right portion sizes, room was decorated lovely, log fire burning away but best of all was the staff. Charlie, Louis, Tracy and Connor (sorry if we’ve missed anyone out) really made it a special time. A big thanks for a lovely few hours.
23/12/2018: By far THE best place to eat in ilkeston .Went in tonight with my husband , lovely welcome .Food as always is just the best . The hospitality food and ambience here is outstanding. Also met the new owners tonight , thoroughly lovely lovely people .Wish them every success .Will be back in the New Year for sure

Nag's Head

Sawley, Erewash, <20£
29/09/2018: If you want home-cooked, traditional pub grub rather than chain-pub ding dong slop or over priced arty-farty gastro pub fayre then this is the place to go. Four of us ate for less than a tenner, the "early bird" lunch time deal takes some beating, decent stocked bar and wine list. I went for the soup and faggots off the early-bird and the cheese and biscuits, a bargain at £4.50
13/09/2018: Arrived tonight 19.20 and asked for table(last food orders 20.00) Was given table and when asked to order told to wait rudely t for waitress. 19.45 told to late should have booked although still taking orders from others. Feel very disapointed as regular visitor,

Mount Gurkha Village

Derby Road East, Erewash
03/12/2018: Had no idea what Nepalese food was like but upon searching on internet we found out this place to be number on 1 on tripadvisor. I joined my friends for our Christmas Party at this little beautifully decorated place. The level of cleanliness was outstanding. The service was friendly and quick and very interactive. But best part was the food. The taste was out of this world.
04/11/2018: Mmm really difficult review. Arrived 8:20pm shown to a table which needed to be set up (not a problem) after 10 minutes thought might be useful if they gave some menus. gave order at 8:40

The Cross Keys

Ockbrook And Borrowash, Erewash
07/10/2018: Invited by one of the regulars to sample the hospitality of this pub-one which i hadnt been in for years ! What a transformation, it was cosy and inviting and with a mix of friends and buffet selection on the bar of cheeses and pork pie the atmosphere was great, well done, we will be back
24/08/2018: I'm not sure which establishment a previous reviewer was talking about, as apart for a short closure for an excellent refurbishment, a couple of years ago, the Cross Keys, Ockbrook, is alive and kicking. As a small village pub it treads a fine balancing act between all sorts of clientele, but does so extremely well, and is welcoming to locals and strangers alike - as well as their dogs and children ( the latter within reasonable hours). The menu is limited, but excellent, with the made-to-order pizzas a particular standout. Cheese and biscuits on the bar, every Friday, and although a Sunday dinner is not provided, the roast meat and potatoes, on Sundays are of excellent quality. (But you have to get there by mid afternoon, as they go quickly!) A wood burning stove and low beams make the place a cozy place to be in winter, and the doors opening on to the beer garden, makes it bright and cheerful in summer. Yes, it does have large screens, showing sports channels, but they are not loud or obtrusive. Located on the edge of the picturesque Ockbrook Settlement, I would recommend this friendly little pub to anyone.

Ockbrook And Borrowash, Erewash
12/09/2018: We now live in Ockbrook, which is joined to Borrowash which is the village where most shops and services are located. It is a very busy but pretty, buzzing little area where Rajni is situated. The owner and staff are very friendly and professional, my wife ordered garlic mushrooms as a starter, but she found the garlic too strong and tried passing it over to me. The head of house saw this and asked why she didn't eat it? Within minutes a new dish was presented with less garlic and was perfect. Every dish we had was exceptional, beautifully cooked, quality engredients in short I have never had better anywhere. The prices are really competitive, Monday, and Tuesday night's are even better value, 'bring your own alcohol' makes a huge difference to your bill, you can get your bottles from the co op opposite which seemed a popular arrangement. A beautiful meal for two with coffees cost just £37 is really affordable, I can see this being our regular restaurant for a long while.
01/09/2018: Fantastic food, our first Indian takeaway for a couple of years. Excellent delivery time, food was excellent!

The Old Schoolhouse Deli-Cafe

West Hallam and Dale Abbey, Erewash
01/11/2018: With so many new very good cafes opening up in and around Derby and all of them raising their game it is good to see that the staff in the Old Schoolhouse constantly provide excellent service and the choice of cake is always a decision not to be made lightly.
30/10/2018: Expensive prices and very busy when we arrived. Not sure why many reviews give this 5 stars. Harpur and finch at Ilkeston is better

Georges Tradition fish and chips

Little Hallam, Erewash
12/12/2018: Tea for two, two fish goujons mushy peas and tartare sauce and bread and butter foe mea to have a chip butty. What more could you ask. Will go again
01/12/2018: Been a regular at Georges Ilkeston even though Woodlinkin branch is near for us because the meals are cooked just that much better and have always enjoyed them. Would have given 5 stars but for the privilege card problem that does not always work, this is annoying when you have to phone up to get it sorted. When leaving last time we noted the girl on the till was saying others customers were having the same problem.

Victoria Vintage Tea Rooms

Draycott, Erewash
09/12/2018: Lovely vintage feel and friendly staff but not impressed by the food! Bog standard sandwiches, cheap bread and uninspired fillings, huge chunks of over sweet cake (not sure if any other than the scones were actually baked in store) overall lacking any finesse. Have had many afternoon teas and really think this was the worst. Doggy bag of take home cakes uneaten. Price seems reasonable at £10.95 but in reality would probably have enjoyed a cuppa and scone more.
12/10/2018: This has to be the nicest place I have taken my disabled dad too. He is in a wheelchair and I popped in with a voucher he had won. They immediately moved tables and chairs and also put a ramp out but most wonderful of all they treated my dad like a human being. They were fabulous with him and really made his day. Have already bought a voucher for afternoon tea for my mum to go again

Emmas thai

Little Hallam, Erewash, 30-45£
25/10/2018: It may well be the best food in Ilkeston. If so, that's a damning indictment of ilkeston's food offering.
28/09/2018: This was our first visit and we will absolutely be back again. Staff are really friendly and very helpful. The food is fantastic and provides such value for money. Having visited other thai's in Derbyshire this is now our favorite thai restaurant. Others are good, but nowhere near the value alongside quality.

Roosters Bar & Restaurant at Morley Hayes

Little Eaton and Breadsall, Erewash
18/12/2018: Came here 2 weeks ago and had the cheese and biscuits. Plenty of cheese and biscuits, alot of types of cheese. Very filling, i would definately have this again! Was very busy, so try and book if you can.
12/12/2018: Busy restaurant so noisy because of this. The food was good but not exceptional and the food service efficient but not great

Hoggs Bistro

Breaston, Erewash
02/12/2018: Had lunch with friends on Thursday. Really friendly staff and quick service. Not a huge menu choice and it was on an iPad so a bit inconvenient when there’s 4 people wanting to have a look and decide what to have plus it was quite hard to read but once we had all decided the food was really nice I had prawn and crab salad with half a jacket potato.... not sure why there wasn’t a full one but it was cooked nice and it did then leave room for the absolutely devine raspberry cheesecake!!
31/10/2018: We were surprised that the menu, including the Specials, were given to us on a mini-i-pad to pass around! Quite a small menu, I had the "pie" - disappointed that it was only a "Pastry Lid". Service was"OK", prices were Fair - not sure if we would return... sorry.

Al Naseeb

Derby Road East, Erewash
15/12/2018: Was booked in for a meal and it really was beyond my expectations..see the pics for presentation The service was exceptional all staff very polite..Will definitely be going again.
27/11/2018: Had this places food for dinner as ordered takeaway. Best curry I’ve ever had and I’m not even a curry fan! Delicious and definitely will go dine in. Very filling couldn’t eat it all. Worth the money I spent. Very happy with the whole meal.

The Bottle Kiln

West Hallam and Dale Abbey, Erewash
16/12/2018: Treated my husband to coffee and mince pie so that I could have a browse around the gift shop afterwards. As usual, the coffee was delicious as was my cheese scone.
10/12/2018: Went for some pre-Christmas late night shopping and the advertised candle-lit supper with a couple of friends.

Coach and Horses

Draycott, Erewash
21/10/2018: Popped in for an early evening meal on Saturday. Very friendly and great pub food. Large portions. Also friendly to dogs with treats and a water bowl available
25/08/2018: Myself and my partner enjoyed a lovely meal at the coach and horses - the Cajun chicken salad and mixed grill were a couple of the best pub restaurant meals we have ever had.
