Gurkha Corner

St. Mary, Powys
17/06/2019: This place is small but well worth a visit. I love curry but have never tried Nepalese food before. It was a different twist on the usual curries and the food was tasty and full of flavour. Good sized portions. I particularly liked the chilli paneer.
13/06/2019: Really busy and VERY small inside so book. Closed on Mondays, we visited on Tuesday evening and it was packed by 7pm!!! Mains were tasty as we're vegetable sides. Staff friendly. Would recommend if you like Indian cuisine and fancy something a bit different.

16/06/2019: Came here recently with friends. I must admit the food was amazing. They have mastered the art of cooking a Indian curry.

Orchid Restaurant

Aberystwyth Gogledd/North, Ceredigion, 30-45£
19/11/2018: Puzzlingly empty place that seemed to have a confused identity as a combined cafe/bar/restaurant. The food was actually very good; one of the best starters I've had in ages (Japanese tempura veg), and served promptly. Being a bar, it had my favourite drink, Crabbies, which you hardly ever find in restaurants, so that was a bonus. However the bored waitress seemed to think having no customers meant turning the radio up to 11 (some kind of horrific Saturday night jungle/drum n bass banging and shouting noise), which wasn't my idea of dining background music. With a bit of staff training and a marketing revamp, I'm sure the good food could bring some repeat business.
28/08/2018: We tried here on our first night in Aberystwyth as we wanted something quick and easy with our young daughter. We were a bit surprised that the restaurant remained empty the whole time we were there, surely not a good sign we thought, but the restaurant was nicely decorated and we were pleasantly surprised by the food. My husband had the hanging beef which he really enjoyed and my moussaka was delicious. Portions were generous. The only downside were the toilets. I went before my meal and I'm afraid it did put me off my food a bit as they were very grim. They don't match the standard of decor in the restaurant or the quality of the food. Don't be put off by the restaurant being empty-the food is very tasty!

Moharni Indian Restaurant

Aberporth, Ceredigion
06/11/2017: Considering they were gearing up for bonfire night and that had been cancelled they were not exactly rushed of their feet . Would have been quicker to cool our own food frankly. Staff disinterested, food very average ... sad really we felt very disappointed and no one cared
28/10/2017: Lovely food, although a couple of dishes were very highly coloured e.g Chicken Korma was very yellow. When we ordered we were told there were no Bhajis as the Chef hadnt had time to make them, I have never been to an Indian without Bhajis. The samosas were frozen mini ones, not like proper ones. However the other dishes were delicious, chicken tikka, Lamb Biriani, Chicken Rogan Josh. So its abit hit and miss. We spent over £50 and when we were offered Popadoms on the phone order, we said yes please - we were charged for them. Other takeaways I have spent this amount of money with included Popadoms free!

The Lantern

Newtown East, Powys
07/01/2019: Had a lovely family meal from here over the Christmas break, collected a take away ready in no time. Everyone enjoyed it will definitely return
15/06/2018: Absolutely no taste with this dish. The rice was ok but the wine was nice. Rudeness from the staff saying we were boring choosing the same dish

Maharani at the Morlan Hotel

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Rhyd-y-Fuwch, Ceredigion
28/05/2017: Arrived and shown to our seats and drinks brought swiftly, no menu. After waiting a few minutes took a menu from a families table that had already ordered. Twenty minutes later after numerous attempts to attract the waiter and seeing only one meal taken to another table, hearing several other customers asking about the location of their meals, listening to the waitress say they were going to have to turn people away despite only being half full, we left and got a Chinese from just up the road!
05/08/2016: Food here is absolutely gorgeous and the service is fantastic! All staff are very friendly and want nothing but to please their customers. I highly recommend and ask for Ismail as he is the perfect waiter 5*****
