A Taste of Sahara

Regency, Brighton and Hove
17/06/2019: Organised a work event for 45 people and it was absolutely wonderful. Sabri took care of us all so well. Service was extremely efficient and the food was very tasty. It was an amazing night. Everyone had lots of fun! Thank you!
16/06/2019: Fantastic food and genuinely warm service at this excellent Arabic/Middle Eastern eatery. BYOB saves on cost so splash out and enjoy the wide choice of beautifully prepared and presented food. Everything we ate from the Arabian feast menu was top drawer and each item offered a different taste sensation. The quality of the perfect home made hoummus and bread was matched/exceeded by everything brought to the table. The generosity and warmth of our hosted only just out shone the food. Highly recommended.

Central Hove, Brighton and Hove, 30-45£
17/06/2019: Five star for authenticity, portion sizes, service and food quality.
16/06/2019: Can’t say enough about how nice the meal was here. The chicken wings are absolutely amazing and the chicken and lamb platter is stunning. All was reasonably priced incl wine. We enjoyed it so much we went back a few days later for lunch.

Persian Paradise

Portswood, Southampton
09/05/2019: I got brought here by a friend from work, not expecting a whole lot. I was really impressed - this is the perfect combination of flavourful kebabs with good quality sit-down dining. Had an unexpectedly fantastic evening. Thanks!
06/03/2019: Very tasty, tender food & very generous portions. The Ayran was lovely! The owners lovely! I didn’t want this to drop a rating, however the waiter at the end, who he said was new provided me with an earl grey tea. I mentioned, thanks but this is not Persian tea as per my order. He said are you refusing to pay for it, I said no not at all. I explained I live and work locally, and when I pop in again please can I have the proper tea. I said don’t worry, I’m happy to pay & leave a tip as everything else was amazing. He declined.

Melo Restaurant

Swaythling, Southampton
08/04/2019: Loved the food and the unpretentious, cozy atmosphere. Affordable meal, pleasant shisha and even live music on some evenings: easy choice for a relaxing night out.

Fatboys Joint

Northgate, Crawley
17/06/2019: Our 2nd visit - had the burger and have to say it was amazing . We drive 1 hour to dine here and it is well worth it. Family run restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. Kids meal was a very generous portion size.
16/06/2019: 100% best burger in town! Cooked to perfection and the flavour is great too. Really friendly and helpful staff!

Central Hove, Brighton and Hove, <20£
05/06/2019: I’ve ate here numerous times and I have not yet been disappointed, excellent quality food. The lamb chops must be one of the best I’ve tasted and the chicken is excellent soft and juice with a charcoal taste it’s a bit more expensive than the bog standard keebab place but a lot better.
18/05/2019: I've visited this many times for the past 5 years. It's mine and my family's go to place for food.

Royal Oak Newick

Newick, Lewes
09/06/2019: Lovely old pub and the food was quite nice. Service was extremely slow although it did seem that the regulars took priority.
20/05/2019: First time in this Pub, so we made a booking for a Saturday night. When we arrived at 7.0 pm, there were a few people at the bar (and a very large dog!) but nobody else eating, so we got to choose a good table. A very pleasant member of staff took our order and admired my face painting, saying she was the sort of person who would go out with a painting too. (I am a face painter and had been working, so always paint my own face: it's called advertising!). I had Crispy Duck off the specials menu and my husband had liver and bacon, one of his favourites. Meanwhile, four people (2 couples approx. our age) took the next table to ours. My husband went to the bar whilst we waited for the food and asked for a jug of water and two glasses. In due course, the lady behind the bar (who may have been the Licencee, I think) brought over the jug and two glasses and took them to the next door table, saying "Here you are, are you sure you only want two glasses?" They were somewhat surprised, but said they would take the water plus two more glasses. We realised that she had made a muddle, so as she passed us, my husband said: "Don't forget us" whereupon she said: "Oh, would you like water as well?". I laughed and said: "It was my husband who came and asked you!" Obviously, all elderly men look the same to this lady! Anyway, water and food arrived in due course. My duck was excellent, with lovely crispy onion and sliced, roasted potatoes, and my husbands liver and bacon serving was huge - and he said very delicious. I could not finish all the duck and potato and asked the serving lady whether I could have a "doggy bag". She was somewhat hesitant and said that "she" (presumably the chef) was not very happy about sending "her food" out of the pub, but she would do what she could. However, she came back with a small, silver foil parcel and a big smile. And I have since finished my meal at home, and thoroughly enjoyed my second helping! At the bar, the big dog had gone to be replaced by another, very friendly dog who visited everyone to make friends. We could not manage pudding, but wished we could, because the choice was so good. We will certainly go back to this rather fun pub, which likes dogs, is not stuffy and which serves excellent food.

Chilli Spice

St Michaels, Surrey Heath, <20£
20/05/2019: Went to chilli spice for a friends birthday and found the food rather basic and not a great variety for a buffet. Slightly under cooked chicken tikka and the sauce was completely different when it ran out and new batch was sampled. Communication with tricky with a few members of staff. Dirty toilets rather disappointing. Very average food in general. But the moral of the story is that you pay for what you get.
15/05/2019: Had the most amazing family meal last night. Everything from the starters (chicken wings), the mains (chicken biryani, chicken vindaloo & mixed grill). To the sides (Tarka Dahl, bhindi & the saag dishes), were best I’ve tasted in years. So tasty & NOT floating in oil! They do a great deal on a Tuesday & Thursday, & the staff are really friendly. Can’t wait to go back.

kabul palace

Upton, Slough
14/06/2019: Kabul was recommended to me by a friend so I recently tried it with my family. We all thought it was very good. We ordered veggie samosas, chicken tikka masala and chicken sabzi with rice and nan bread. Really tasty and nicely spiced. Good portion of rice and naan was large enough to share.I was particularly impressed with the masala as it had a nice heat to it. Best we’ve had in a long time. Will definitely dine in and order from Kabul again soon.
02/04/2019: Date of the visit: 31st March 2019

Town, Epsom and Ewell, >100£
23/05/2019: I ordered a takeaway meal for two people and the food was awful and inedible, the falafel was hard as biscuits and the mixed grill meat was very tough and preheated from the day before...the rice was also microwaved. Totally disappointed
20/05/2019: Have walked past this place numerous times. Never very busy but heard a couple of favourable reviews so we thought would give it a try. Various types of Middle Eastern food covered by the menu. Oddly the menu shows pictures of the food in a “tourist hot spot” style. Orders taken by a disinterested server. Starters of calamari and falafel were very disappointing. Pretty obviously both mass produced, frozen and chucked in the fryer. Not even tasty. Mains ( kebabs) were better but not much so. Lacked any real spice or taste and not served with any sauces. Going back to the menu, didn’t look much like the photos either. Healthy sized portions but can’t find much else positive to say. It’s not expensive but not cheap either.

The Horseshoe Inn Marcross

Llantwit Major, The Vale of Glamorgan
02/06/2019: The pub is a nice old pub nice deco and clean, but the food was awful, RICH had a steak which was tender but peas were horrible been hanging round all day and the chips were horrible and greasy, they must have been re dipped to reheat them.
25/05/2019: The food is reasonable pub grub, was served quickly, there's a good choice of drink and staff friendly. No faults from me :)

Kebab House

Regency, Brighton and Hove
08/05/2019: Do not order from here, it is foul. Half ended up in the bin. We accidentally ordered a takeaway from here not realising it was a 1 star hygiene rated after-the-club kind of place.

Royal Kebab House

Oakridge and Castlefield, Wycombe, <20£
03/12/2018: Ordered a kebab to be delivered.... delivery was as they said and the food was lovely. One of the best kebabs I've had for a long time. Massively superior to the rubbish they serve at holmer green kebabs. Really tasty and not over cooked! Would thoroughly recommend.
31/10/2017: delivered very late. food was cold, very unapologetic. disappointed

Chicken Cottage

Abbey, Wycombe, <20£
10/10/2018: If you like food that that arrives over an hour and a half after you order, chicken cottage is perfect. Food is decent but service is terrible. Rude staff, no manners and customer service! Avoid!
19/08/2018: so just ordered a family meal and NOTHING on there says that it has any sauce or marination what so ever!!! the chicken is so spicy we cant eat it and its just gone to waste! called them up and the argument was you should have said on the comment not to make it spicy!!! I'M SORRY then you should mention it on the description that it has a marinate and to specify how SPICY WE WANT IT
