The best restaurants in Wales

From the moment you walk in there is always a nice friendly welcome. We were a bit early for our booking but that was not a problem. Great menu choice and all our meals were delicious we especially like the small pudding and coffee choice.

What wonderful food, I would come back a thousand times... very good service too.

We are utterly shocked to read negative here reviews about this charming, cozy, and sophisticated French restaurant. This is one of the best dining experiences my partner and I have had in New England — and we live in New England. We were seated at a corner table tucked away next to the front entrance, a perfect vantage point to look out onto Thames Street. The table had banquette seats with lots of pillows. It was very intimate and cozy. If you are on a date, you should ask for this table. We started with glasses of kir royale, which were delicious. We followed up with escargot, served with shaved artichoke hearts, shaved Parmesan, and garlic butter. It was absolutely scrumptious. We moved onto the tenderloin beef, served in a burgundy sauce with asparagus and mashed potatoes. (These were not just any mashed potatoes; they were exquisite.) This main dish was superb. We finished with Chanterelle’s famous grand marrnier soufflé, which was utter perfection. My partner has had grand marnier soufflé at the finest French restaurants in New York City and elsewhere around the country. Chanterelle’s soufflé was at the top; it was perfect. It was so good that we are considering as we write this going back — just for dessert — two days later. The service was impeccable. They attended to our every wish without having to ask. They truly served us beautifully. Our table captain was Dan; he can pour a carafe of wine from six feet high into a glass on a table without spilling any of it. We saw him do it.

Sorry, but currys we have ordered was too sweet. Two different curry we ordered taste absolutely identical, just a paste used for all of the currys only adding different meat and colours. That's not real curry. Other curry must have onion and tomatoes but there was no onion at all only same paste and red colours added. No spice at all . Only one thing was nice is a naan bread. I'm so surprised of mostly 5 stars reviews, probably family , friends are advertising. I really was surprised seeing asian people in there , really wanted to ask them are they seriously like it all, they must cooking better real currys at home, must be just wanted to dine out. I worked in Indian restaurant for three years , I know how currys tastes and looks like.

On a miserable wet day in Pembroke, just below the Castle, my wife and I visited Watermans for the first time. It lifted the day. Ant and Hannah made us most welcome, friendly chat, but with cracking beer and wonderful bar food. We were happily satisfied and will definitely return. Great views, too, if the weather had been more kind.

Went for Sunday lunch. Haven't been here for almost a year. The quality of food and service is always very good. They offer their lunch time menu, not a specific Sunday one, which means you can have something other than a traditional roast.

What a find after walking through Bute Park. We enjoyed a lovely coffee and the welshcakes were amazing . The staff were lovely and knowledgeable

Beautiful setting, very cosy and the cocktail was very nice indeed. it was rather expensive compared to the cocktails in other establishments, but you get what you pay for and this was good. Would most definitely visit again.

Had a lovely lunch here mid-week with a fabulous view over the bay. It’s more expensive than a lot of places, but also serves much better food. We both had beef and stout pie with chips and it was absolutely delicious, full of rich flavours and a good size portion. The tiny side salad was the only minor thing which could have been better. Desserts were amazing too. The staff are very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I would definitely recommend this place for a treat.

We had Sunday lunch. Can only say first class. Great quantity, piping hot, super tasty. Staff very attentive and helpful.

We came here for lunch today- was greeted by a lovely chap on the bar and was seated by a lovely waitress- me and my partner thought the food was superb , lasagne spot on and the sirloin steak my partner said was stunning and cooked how he likes it, we even had the garlic loaf which was absolutely delicious ! And I would recommend the triple cooked chips ! So nice and fluffy! Was so full didn’t have room to eat it all ! I would definitely come back to Bistro8 the young lad who served us was so polite and asked us if all was ok and was very helpful . Thanks for the lovely food !
