Called in for coffee and cake whilst on holiday, enjoyed it so much we booked for lunch a few days later. Food was excellent, fresh and tasty, great menu. Friendly staff and dog friendly. Will be back next time we are in, or near ,Rhuddlan and highly recommend to anyone thinking of a visit.

It’s OK. If you’re in the area, then go. However, I wouldn’t travel far to go there.

The Whistlestop Cafe used to be next to the old Rhuddlan railway station; hence the classic railway reference. It's moved a few hundred yards away since the station closed. Newly refurbished since closing for Christmas 2024, I was the first customer of 2025 today. The new Bright and Shiny sign welcomes the punters, some of whom are keen motorcyclists as local clubs (from bikers to volleyball) meet here. Without a doubt, the best cafe for miles around, serving all the classics from Bacon "butties" to Full Welsh Fried Breakfast. New Year's Resolution in force, I restricted my breakfast to just scrambled egg on toast but was persuaded by the friendly staff to throw-in some bacon! 😉 The eggs were creamy and fluffy on well-buttered toast and bacon fried to a juicy but caramelised stage. Disclosure: I used to be paid to write international food and travel reviews but this one is of my own volition and I paid for the meal as it's my regular weekly oasis of indulgence.

This is a village local, it was Friday night, and people were perhaps over-refreshed but in a welcoming and friendly way. It was quite quiet and the pub closed at midnight. The noisiest people to leave were predominantly staff, but I always feel that if they spend their hard earned cash in the same place that they earned it is a good sign. Personally I would have been happier if they had a cask ale available but other than that a good night was had tonight.

Came to the yew tree for the carvery after the reviews on here and Google. When we arrived we noticed it wasn't called the yew tree but something else (something munchies?). Anyway we couldn't see a carvery so just ordered Sunday lunch off the menu. They said we could order a mix of the meats, but they had no turkey so I ordered beef and pork. The meals came and everything was out of a frozen packet, nothing was fresh or home made apart from the cauliflower cheese. The meat was the sliced meat you buy in a packet to put on a sandwich! Gravy very watery too. I'm not fussy and was starving so ate it all, but was very disappointed.

It's took me way to long to try these burgers and OMG it was amazing. Absolute food-gasm. Thank you
