Staff were welcoming and our order was taken promptly; food arrived quite quickly too. We decided to order the set lunch; we ended up having all three courses, as the portions were really rather small. I had the soup (very hot and spicy, but that was no bad thing on a cold day) followed by the courgette linguine; my companions both had the mackerel followed by the skate, which they said was very good. For dessert two of us had the burnt basque cheesecake; I had never eaten a burnt basque (!), so thought I should give it a try. Very creamy but â yes, rather burnt at the side. The third person had the cheese plate, which was almost too big. I have some slight mobility issues, but could not see a disabled toilet, so I had to descend the steep stairs which I found rather precarious. The floor at the bottom is very uneven, so beware. A good choice for a light lunch, and not too crowded.

This company have owed their egg supplier from the Cotswolds over ÂŁ500 for nearly 12 months now. We feel this is the only way to get their attention now unfortunately. We donât take doing this lightly but feel that perhaps doing this we will finally get a response from 42nd East Bakehouse. We have sent many emails, attempted phone calls, statements through accountants. We have even tried communicating via Instagram (we were told theyâd be in touch and then they blocked us). Needless to say no one got in touch and we are stilled owed over ÂŁ500. We feel it is only fair that customers and potential customers know how this company treats its suppliers. We wouldnât want visit and spend money with a cafe and bakery that does not pay fairly for its supplies. So now those of you reading this page with a view to visiting know how this company operates in the background. Farming is difficult at the best of times and then to add a business treating us this way on top of it is really quite disheartening. Please 42nd East Bakehouse we just want to be paid fairly for what we supplied you.

We went for dinner. Although the service was great, tables nicely spaced, nice selection of wines by the glass the experience 'in my opinion' was let down by the food. My beetroot and gin cured salmon with tonic gel was served in a chipped plate and although the portion was generous the tonic gel was bitter and quite unappealing and the salmon itself was average. For main I had duck for me the duck was slightly overcooked however the dish was sadly let down by the red wine jus. What accompanied the dish was more of a gravy then a red wine jus and sadly the gravy tasted just like bisto. Desserts were standard pub classics chocolate fondant for my partner and rhubarb bakewell tart for me both very nice. In summary atmosphere great, service great but an ambitious menu lacking in the finer touches

Fantastic place if you want a friendly face and wonderful attentiveness. We ate breakfast on 2 consecutive days, we were going to try somewhere different on day 2 but the food was so good and we were looked after so well we changed our minds! The full English was cooked to perfection, plenty of food to keep us going for the day. The next morning my husband had the mini full English, again well cooked & presented. I had the waffle with berry compote and yoghurt, beautiful mix of sweet and sharp fruit flavours. What a shame it was no longer going to be on the menu đą Would certainly recommend The Croft for excellent service and great food.
