The best restaurants in South Lakeland North West

Had a great meal ... Good service considering they were really busy and best of all they have Loweswater Gold to stay !

Lovely pub, open fires which are carefully tended. Lovely staff but Sunday lunch main course was poor. Soup was nice but roast beef was stringy , tough and poor quality. Pity the food let down so nice a place. We should have really sent the beef back. No one can round to ask how the maim course was. We gave the meat to the dogs we had with us. That was all it was fir for.

Great beers & great food. Booked tables , welcomed by bar staff lovely old mill in centre of Ulverston easy walk from Premier Inn. We both had pies which were lovely & very filling. Would certainly recommend & return

This was a busy little pub and a great atmosphere too. We had the fish & chip wraps and the kids had the fish goujons. It was really good and we enjoyed it. You have to park on the main road . However, a member of staff said if there were no spaces the local school over the road let's the weekend customers park there. We didn't stay there so I can't say how the rooms were. But definitely worth a visit. Thank you. 😊

We just stayed here overnight as we’ve been here before when wanting to avoid the fireworks with our dog. The room was quite small but very clean and comfy and the food and drink was perfect. I highly recommend the amber ale! Staff were very attentive and very friendly and the regulars full of banter! Looking forwards to staying here again the next time we are up in the Lakes.

Went for a family 60th, party meal, food is better than usual pub shiggles

We both ordered soup with a cheese scone. This is after a walking week with soup and bread taken every day. Not only was this the most expensive we came across but the scone was very, “doughy,” and undercooked. It was far from acceptable. It’s very clear that the staff have not tried their own product. I urge them to test the product, change the recipe and improve the cooking process. I was really unhappy with our experience though the ambiance of the cafe is excellent if a little cold with the door wide open trying to attract customers. Could do much better. I strongly urge them to seek customer feedback so that they find out what people actually think.

Called in on a very wet Saturday afternoon for a spot of lunch and to dry out after a very wet walk with our Springer Nice friendly welcome and some nice beers on offer A small menu but the food we opted for was superb Two pasta dishes, pumpkin and clam were both devoured. Would definitely recommend.

Service was almost non existent, we waited at the bar for drinks while we were ignored by the bar staff in favour of topping up the straws etc... new lad on was clearly embarrassed by his supervisors complete lack of awareness.

I ordered from Ulverston Eats. They unexpectedly cancelled my order and closed the takeaway option. Poor.

Attended a wedding on 25th May staff were welcoming and pleasant nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful surroundings, the room was clean with complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, still and sparkling bottled water plus a good selection of teas. The wedding breakfast was excellent and plentiful, and the evening food of bacon and sausage barms/rolls with chips, breakfast the following morning was full of English choice of cereals, jams, fresh orange juice, tea and coffee which you helped yourself with, my only gripe was that I and my friend ordered our breakfast with the waitress we noticed that other guests from the wedding who arrived after us for breakfast were being served their breakfast before us, we had to ask twice regarding our order 40 minutes later we got it staff were very apologetic. Every meal we had you could taste how fresh the food was and they use their own or local produce. Apart from the breakfast hiccup, I couldn't fault the Villa Levens highly recommend it I would stay again.

The Thai food is absolutely amazing highly recommend it

Hotel very comfortable but no sockets in bathroom for charging your toothbrush. They kindly gave us an adapter to use while we were there. Nowhere to walk our dog nearby. Had to drive to Grange over Sands.
