Never before found the pub open due to me not coming on right day and/or time, usually mondays or late afternoon closed. BUT this time (Sept 24) I arrived Saturday. Service good, atmosphere great, beers excellant. Didn't eat but did find out that they sometimes have outside food preperation which looked good. Drop in street type food.

This was our third visit to this restaurant the last being about 18 months ago. Really enjoyed our previous 2 visits with excellent food but unfortunately this visit was very disappointing. We were sat upstairs just inside the door and not in the main room this meant we had a constant stream of people walking past us to get to their tables not a relaxing place to sit and enjoy our meal. I ordered the pork and a side order of tender stem broccoli. It was so hard I was unable to eat it. I complained and was bought a second dish this was equally as hard and again I could not eat it. Although it was removed off the bill it still spoilt my meal. My son ordered Lemon posset for dessert this was like runny liquid and had small chunks of lemon in it which was bitter to eat. We were asked if we wanted some water for the table and was expecting a jug of iced water instead it came in a glass bottle with cork type top which was fine but we were charged £2.00 for the water. Overall it was a disappointing visit although the staff were efficient a smile would have been nice. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Dropped in last week during a walk. Nice sausage sarnie and a coffee. Decided a revisit today Sunday 12th march during a bike ride. Not open. I suppose it could be for many reasons such as illness, but it was still a pain as this was a planned refuel stop.

Superb people, extremely friendly and helpful. When our food was late we were given complimentary drinks, and when it rained we were asked to come inside, with our two dogs!

Came in on Thursday for a nice spot of lunch, had some lovely service from zane and he made our visit a delight and served some lovely food from chef suzie, wasn't too keen on coming up to the bar and being ignored from the tall blonde/ginger man who was too interested on his conversation after acknowledging us however this didn't detar my experience. I do recommend others to visit for zanes service and food from the chefs was spot on good job

I really wish I could review better than 3*, the coffee is very good and the baristas are better than those at rival coffee houses........BUT, the queue is constantly long with very little effort to get the customers served any quicker. The tables are usually littered with dirty cups, again, little enthusiasm from the staff to clear and clean them. I also think the toilet could be cleaned more regularly, it's a lottery using it, sometimes it's very clean, but more often than not, it's dirty.

We had our wedding here on 06.09.2024 and the venue and staff were absolutely amazing. Service was perfect, the service during the dinner was spot on, it all ran so smoothly. Very organised and Anoop was brilliant at helping us bring our dream wedding to life. The meal was absolutely amazing, everyone was commenting how lovely it was. So grateful that Royal Arms were able to deliver such a special day for us. We were not the easiest crowd to manage (lots of drinking lol) but the staff were happy and polite, never once got a bad vibe from them. And the next morning they set breakfast up for us beautifully 🩷 couldn't wish for better service. We all loved the hotel rooms which were comfortable and the bridal suite is amazing. Thank you to Anoop and the Royal Arms team Lauren and Dane x

Whilst on 7 day narrow boat holiday on the Oxford Canal we stopped at Sutton Cheney on our way back to Napton Marina. We had planned to stop on our way from the marina but had t been able to find mooring point free. Location is lovely, (nice walk to the Battlefield Heritage Centre). We originally stopped for a coffee, and noted the reasonable prices shown on a converted narrow boat outside that also sold ice creams. There was no one on the boat serving but it indicated to go to the cafe and someone would attend. We did that, but the staff member said we needed a table number to order , so we found a table outside in the shade and then ordered two lattes and were told that they would be brought to us. What I hadn’t initially realised was that I had been charged a significantly higher price for the two lattes than the sign on the narrowboat indicated. Rather than make a fuss we decided to just drink the coffee and not stay and order any food/ice cream. It might be that there is a different price charged for ordering coffee from the boat or ordering from the cafe, however as I had specifically mentioned seeing the coffee advertised on the boat then as a minimum would have expected to have been warned that there would be a difference. I would add that from what I could see at other tables, the food looked nice.
