We arrived at 12.30, being a party of 11. We were seated upstairs which was a little difficult as one of us had a 5 month old in a pram. We managed however and the young lady who served us could not be more helpful. She was a diamond. The food arrived more or less all together and was generally very good. The risotto was a little stodgy but very nicely seasoned. The atmosphere was slightly lacking but given the time of our arrival was probably understandable. Generally this was a good visit and I would go again after this experience. The toilets were really clean by the way as was the entire place.

Lovely food and even better service at Zizi’s in York centre. Our server Bea was absolutely lovely so attentive and made our Mother’s Day lunch just that bit more special! Thank you Bea ☺️

The beetroot salad was really tasty and fresh. Pizza always good. The desserts were sizing! Hot chocolate fudge cake and toffee salt caramel cheese with a toffee sauce that made you want to lick to jug!!! A lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

Went on Thursday. husband ordered spag boll ..and we were shocked at the portion size..really small .children sizes not worth money .Also when it was payment time were told we couldn't use cash !!!! Which to me is a cheek ..*good job i had a card with me .I will not be going back here .Due to the small portions and large prices and not being able to use cash ..

After we were seated we were given a list of ingredients and dishes unavailable, ordered 3 pasta dishes which were all pretty inedible and mine had spinach in which was on the list of unavailable items, making me think it was a microwaved frozen meal. Staff were friendly but said if we signed up to their loyalty scheme we would get a free garlic bread, so we did that and told them we had, no free garlic bread arrived and the food was so awful we left quite a bit then went somewhere else! Huge mistake to go there. When I was younger it was good.

we had paid for our daughter and partner to stay in york. we met them today(sunday 11th feb). they had lunch in zizzi but we told the waitress we were coming back at teatime. we came at 5 pm tonight. the restaurant was empty... we were asked if we had booked and told her ... no we hadn't. she said no tables til7pm... the place was empty and we only wanted a quick pizza so we have now found another Italian restaurant and its first class

We came here for my best friends hen do! I emailed them ahead of time with our food order as we were a large group and they were amazing!! The food came out really promptly and everyone loved it! Thank you again to the staff, especially the lovely blonde lady and gentleman with the glasses who waited and looked after us! Unfortunately I didn’t get there names but I’m really really grateful! The only reason I didn't put 5 stars for atmosphere is because we were put on a table right next to the accessible toilet which everybody was using because the other toilets were not available. This meant every time the door was opened ( which was regularly) we got a strong whiff. The staff were really friendly and accommodating and the food was excellent.

Went for an evening meal and have no complaints. Service was brilliant, staff were very nice. Service was also incredibly fast with food hot and tasting fresh. The building is nice and atmosphere was pleasant. I don't tend to visit Italians much personally but had a lovely experience here.

Last minute booking using the trusty Clubcard vouchers... lovely food and great service. Clean and tidy, not too busy when we called in. Would definitely recommend

I’ve been to Zizzi’s many times, and this one in particular. Usually very good. I would typically order a nice pizza and have no complaints. On this occasion we were seated by the toilet, and rubbing was dragged past us while we were seated. They ran out of bread to accompany the starter but still served it. The pizza had too much toppings on and wasn’t balanced well, in the end I had to scrape some off. The brownie was nice at the end. The service was a bit chaotic, they really struggled to grasp that my girlfriend prefers not to eat gluten and prettt much interrogated her until she said she can eat gluten but just prefers not to. Not our best experience, on this occasion.

My husband and I visited York this weekend, we stopped in at Zizzi's for lunch on Sunday afternoon. The service was fast and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our waitress recommended we sign up for an offer that saved us some money and something that we will continue to use in the future. A lovely lunch and if in York again we will definitely return!

Great friendly staff and nice atmosphere. We visited as a family with 2 children who were welcomed with plenty of choice for them, especially as one is gluten free. The food and drink we ordered was fresh, plentiful and very tasty, well worth the money. Will definatley be going back.

Navštívili jsme restauraci po celodenní procházce v předvánočním čase. Nechtěli jsme dlouho sedět, jen se najíst. Neměli jsme objednaný stůl, byl problém najít od servírky stůl v téměř prázdné restauraci. Seděli jsme kousek u dveří na toaletu. Servírka byla zmatená, stále zakopavala o židle. Mladý číšník byl pozornějsi a milý. Jídlo průměrné, káva dobrá, dort za tu cenu hrozný. Nedoporučuji tento podnik.

Unfortunately it is usually good food here but we had an order delivered through deliveroo.. which came too cold to enjoy at all. I understand that this isn’t necessarily the restaurants fault but I have no other way to complain or report this. Which is a shame cause it was a waste of a meal.

The service here was very quick and the staff are lovely. I was unaware that Ask Italian and Zizzi’s are sister restaurants, although this is reflected in the menus, as I recently found out. The food here wasn’t as tasty but I feel was of better quality. The restaurant has a nice overall atmosphere

11 of us are here on Christmas Eve and all of us had beautiful food, The service was exceptional. We will definitely be going back

Lovely spot for lunch with friends, super service - despite being the week before Christmas we didn't feel rushed at all. Lots of good menu options and a good atmosphere.

Four of us sat down at 6pm and ordered. It was 7.30 before our pizzas made an appearance. They were stone cold and returned as inedible. By that time, we'd lost the will to live and also our appetite, so we left. The business is woefully understaffed. It's a shame that those trying to do the impossible have to take so much pain from customers. It must be terribly wearing spending most of your night apologising.

The staff were absolutely lovely and super friendly, especially the lady with the Catholic mother 😂 The food, on the other hand! The worst meatballs I've ever had, I make better myself, at least mine aren't cheap processed meat! My main of pork belly, potatoes and veg was absolutely drowning in honey! Honey wasn't mentioned on the menu. The pork was also very overcooked, making my main completely inedible. My Tiramisu was nice, just a shame they hadn't let it thaw long enough 🙃

Took over an hour for our meals to come. Two had pizza and two had pasta.My pasta was The wrong dish. Sent it back and actually got the proper dish within five minutes. Although it didn’t taste very nice and I didn’t eat it, but that could’ve been me. A few tables around us were moaning about the wait and one table, sent their food back twice. There were only two members of staff on the floor running around and only two people in the kitchen, as you could see this from our table. Very shortstaffed and probably due to the rushing and amount of tables they had,, it was full, they made mistakes. No apology by either waitress about the wait. I won’t be returning.

Booked Zizzi for lunch on our trip to York on Saturday 16th December. Party of 7, seated upstairs, nice airy room, not too busy, which was a surprise on a busy day in York near christmas. We all had a main meal, either pizza or pasta, none of us were blown away with the food, it was just pizza/pasta, nothing outstanding at all. When the bill came we were all "hit" with a steep service charge each which i was told was non negotiable? I thought a service charge was up to the customer to pay if the service/food was top notch, obviously not. Therefore a bowl of very mediocre pasta priced steeply already at £14.95 was around £16.95. I wouldnt normally bother with a review but felt due to their service charge policy, a meal here is quite pricey. Maybe the reason it was quite empty.

Food and service was great, toilets, not great, you seem to have to access the basement and it's freezing cold. I'd advise taking your coat to the toilet with you in the winter months!

Over all a very nice experience. Staff overly attentive at start, very pushy on alcohol orders. Good portions were as expected for tapas and were excellent except cauliflower dish, usually my favourite but below par this night. Struggled to get the staff attention at end to pay bill.

We had a pizza and lasagna last night. The pizza was good, but the lasagna wasn’t as expected.

Visited yesterday, husband fancied Pizza. Staff fine, the food was a disappointment. Calzone which was small and not a lot of filling, salmon pasta which was meh. Bolognese pasta for daughter (which she'd usually demolish) was only half eaten. Both Adults walked out hungry. Worst bit was going down to the toilets, grubby area, obviously not heated, filthy stalls. Glad to exit after seeing those. Wish we'd chosen somewhere else.

We're told initially that we would have to return in half an hour as they were waiting for a member of staff to arrive. They changed their mind and a very pleasant waitress showed us to our table and took our order. When our main course arrived my pasta dish was almost cold as was the plate it was served on. It was taken away to be warmed......a little. I was asked if it was OK, which it was, just! When we were given the bill we hadn't been charged for my meal which was fine. Apparently the kitchen was small and don't have plate warmers, something I thought would be a be a basic requirement for a restaurant? I felt for the staff, who were doing their best under difficult circumstances. However things need to change if the business want customers to return.

Friendly staff and food was nice, tho there were a few items from the menu unavailble (how can a restaurant run out of chips) ladies toilets need a refurb (or a deep clean).. not nice !

Although food is exceptional, i was very dissspointed with this branch. 1 main meal they had ran out of. Another main meal ran out of avocado!!!!! Before we ordered dessert she informed me ran out of lemon cheesecake. Wow who's running this place. Great service but won't be going back if that's how they run a business

The menu has lots of choice for vegans & children. The food is well presented, particularly the open kitchen with a big pizza oven. There's a 3 course menu & 3 course kids menus. The problem was how long things took, missing adultery, a waitress spilt my daughters drink, they made the wrong kids meal so we waited for another, they charged me for my dessert & the 3 course meal. They corrected all the issues quickly but it was too many. They only accepted card payment but the waitress pointed out we could tip in cash which was rather rude/pressurising. We didn't leave a tip. The vegan cheesecake was fabulous & my husbands vegan pizza was also very good & good looking with a. Vegan sticker (or we may have been in doubt as the mushrooms looked meaty).

The Sea Bass was great! Lovely service, reasonable prices and Gran Riserva!

Fab food and service. Got help with allergy requirements, which is a bonus. Not the first and not the last time here.

Zizzi's in York was very welcoming, taken to a table on entering and given menus. The decor and layout was pretty spot on. We chose to go for the 3 course deal for £23.95 each. I had a calamari starter and my wife had garlic bread, both very tasty and good portions. For the main I had carbonara with Parma ham and Chorizo, my wife had stick pig pizza, very filling and also delicious. To finish off I we had a lemon cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake. We were both stuffed and satisfied. It was not overly busy on our visit, so not sure how they do during peak hours, the toilets were quite far and a bit dingy but there were disabled toilets much closer if needed. Overall glad we visited, and will be happy to go again.

Just chaotic - terrible customer service from the manager from the outset. Wouldn’t return and this restaurant really needs to up its game. People waiting ages for their food, manager rushing around obviously not happy, felt awful for the rest of the waiting on staff.

Very disappointed with the meal ,food came out cold , staff where very off hand, banged the dishes on the table not acceptable. If we wanted cold food we would have ordered it. They not even offered us a drink as a sorry , never mind anything else . The food we ordered was good if it wasn't cold . They need more training and it could be a great place to eat .

We were really impressed with Alex, a member of Zizzi's staff who reported an incident to the police this evening. We are so grateful, it meant our friend got their bike back. Can't thank her enough.

This was a fantastic restaurant for dining, where me and my friend were seated immediately in the stylish area! We had pasta crisps for free, seating is comfortable and menus are given to visitors right away. I had delicious Spaghetti Bolognese with a refreshing pint of Coke, served in due time! The staff were very nice and I could use my £15 voucher with a 2 for 1 offer, accounting for our entire bill.

Can't comment as we were next door in NOLA, which is worth more than ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ordered hot salmon carbonara which was so dry it was actually hard work to eat,it was however quite tasty with plenty of salmon and prawns. The chicken calabrese on the other hand was cold,tough and greasy,totally inedible and nothing like the image on ZIZZI website menu. Heritage carrots were unavailable with the dish so we were offered either artichoke or extra spinach ,both of which we declined but we were actually served no spinach at all so we were literally served chicken and chips We were offered an alternative meal which we declined and the chicken dish was removed from our bill but it had spoilt our evening and one of us left very hungry! Our server was the saving Grace,calm and professional she was a star and a credit to ZIZZI. I have images of both our meals and have tried 3 times to contact ZIZZI through their online form but keeps declining to send so jd someone from ZIZZI would like to reply to this review that would be great!

Went there as a group of five for lunch, Two of our group are coeliacs and zizzi's advertises its gluten free range. When we declared as coeliacs the ever so pleasant chap went into great detail saying although they advertise as gluten free, they cant guarantee due to cross contamination the gluten free products might not be actually completely gluten free. The menu for us was supplied with a big A4 folder with pages and pages of ingredients. What you have to do is pick from the regular menu then trawl through the folder to find your selection to see if any of the ingredients in the food you have selected contain gluten. so we aired on the safe side on ordered things like salads. the first course was delivered with 5 salads, we had ordered 4, so one was taken away, we asked for water for the table, which was warm, and had to be replaced with cold. The salads were so cold the flavour didn't exist. main courses were just ok. when we got the bill we were charged for 5 salads even though one was taken back. a simple mistake, maybe, that was remedied. overall not a great experience

Really small for a Zizzi. Seated downstairs, don't know if there's upstairs room. Staff were good. Food was regular Zizzi food. Good vegan options. Probably would go elsewhere next time.

This was an excellent choice. Good food competitively priced. The staff were courteous and helpful, service was fine although the restaurant was very busy and we would have no hesitation in recommending this for a straightforward meal on a night out.

This restaurant is in a great location and the atmosphere inside was great. We went for my partners birthday and his main meal was free as we signed up to the app. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the service was much quicker than expected! The food was amazing and I had a cocktail which was delicious.

Came on our wedding anniversary expecting a lovely meal very disappointed. Met my waitress who informed us run out of chips with meals and they had substituted with potato croutons not being fussy we said this was OK. When meal arrived mine. was luke warm deap fried chicken substitute on bed of croutons with vegetables unrecognisable. Tesco chicken was more appetising than what they produced for 4 times the price. Husband pizza whilst very big lacked any recognisable meat on it. Again potato croutons covered in tomato sauce as no chips left. This was 7.30 Friday night. Very disappointing as been zizzi in other towns. I did complain and I have to say in their fair Ness they did not charge us for the food but it is the experience of going out on our wedding anniversary which was spoilt. I would not go back ever.

Very nice meal, we choose from the set menu which had plenty of options and also had some additional new items. Definitely recommend as the food is always good, staff are friendly and helpful and great atmosphere. Especially loved the addition of the honeycomb cheesecake

The restaurant was less than half full so we thought we would eaaat and be out in no time, how wrong we were. We ordered bread with dips for a starter which took 25 mins to come! We had 2 pizzas and a bowl of chips for the main which never came until nearly 45 mins after the starter. They had obviously forgotten to cook it until we asked where it was after 30 mins, as others who came in way after us had already got their pizzas. They offered us free drinks due to waiting so long, the just to add insult to injury they added these to our bill ! Altogether we only got bread, pizza and chips and were in there 90mins. Nice food but too long sat around waiting when you have children who are hungry.

Best sea bass I have had for a very very long time. Such a relaxed atmosphere for my son and I. Would definitely recommend to any one visiting York. I will be back!!
