Zizzi - St Andrews in Fife

Wasn’t sure about booking with a chain restaurant but took a chance and we came out very happy. Manager was like a wee buzz bomb, serving, making sure everyone was being attended to; generally making sure everything was running smoothly. Food excellent. My wife had lasagne which looked a bit small but she was filled up by the time she had eaten it. I had a rustic pizza which was also very good. Desserts, delicious. Choc melt: the waiter apologised because the melt had kind of collapsed under the weight of ice cream. I’m more into taste than appearance and this just hit the spot. Overall a very good restaurant, good food, efficient management.

First, they got the simplest order wrong. Second, the manager said the pizza was "fresh out the oven." No, it wasn't. More like three hours out the oven. Stale, bland, cold pizza. Scandalously overpriced. I could have got the same thing at Domino's for less. I'll give it another go, the decor and seating looked nice, and maybe they're better as an eat-in place, but surprisingly bad.

Service so slow despite there being very few people in the restaurant. Waitresses very pleasant and apologised for the delay. Food was poor the place is in need of a freshen up , upholstery on seating stained and torn and overall lacking in atmosphere. Previous experience of this franchise was positive but certainly won’t visit St Andrews again .

The vegan options are always amazing and I would honestly buy a whole bag of those dried pasta snacks that they serve you at the very start. Abdul was lovely please give him a pay raise :)

Zizzis was excellent there deal on a Saturday of 3 courses for £24 was great value and really good food.I highly recommend and will definitely eat there again

A group of 18 of us went to Dinner and the service was great. The Menu is limited but fine and my risotto was lovely. Very noisy in there but makes for a great ambience.

Amongst the Italian chains, one of the better experiences. Food was enjoyed by all, good portions, drink options good. Relatively expensive dishes by comparison of some venues, so for a chain - it can add up quickly. Staff were friendly and attentive. I tend to tip well - however do not appreciate in any venue, auto adding a service charge which is the case here, then missed this when paying the bill for others to tip more at the table. Any restaurant auto adding this is marks down for me and would tend to avoid.

Had to send food back. Couldn't cut the chicken and calamari was rubbery. Signs of frozen food zapped in a microwave. Pity.

Food very good, we enjoyed massive garlic bread starters and creamy chicken pasta mains. It was busy but service was good and very friendly. Major down side with this place is the acoustics, it’s very noisy and you can hear conversations from right across the room while not being able to hear people at your own table!

We come here all the time because my lovely wife is lactose intolerant, but she very much enjoys a Zizzi vegan pizza. I like pasta dishes, so it's all good 👍

Several times we have been here. The staff today were nice. The vegan pizza delicious and my husband enjoyed his margarita. I’m glad I had the pizza as I saw the lasagna and was disappointed as it was such a small portion. Not cheap so don’t insult us by small portions. Or do they think they’re being smart and you have to order sides. 🙄 It was so cold I was shivering. The food went cool very quickly because of this. Will not be back.

It's ok. The service is ok. The food is ok. Everything was ok. Not much to report really, it was all average.

Vikki's exceptional service and recommendations led us to try the Rustica pizzas, which had a thin crispy base and were truly outstanding. I definitely recommend Zizzi St Andrews for its great food and exceptional service!

I booked a table 5 days before I was meant to go and informed them that I have severe allergy, heard nothing back from them, I always phone 2 hours before to reiterate. I Was told by restaurant and head office customer service because I had an allergy (out with the 14 common ones) that I "make an informed choice" what was in the food! as their “ingredients are ever changing with suppliers due to complex supply chains” OR I could ask in advance what was in the meals, but was never informed of this EVEN though I told them days before. I have eaten here many times in the past and always been accommodating, not sure why this would change now.

Called in on the spur of the moment, and glad we did. The gentleman who tool our order and looked after us was so lovely. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The food was lovely and as always our eyes were too big for our bellys. Highly recommend this place x

First time here, seated quickly, orders were taken quickly too. Good selection for kids and activities to keep them busy. Food was delicious. Only minor point was that there wasn't much room between tables and we had to squeeze into our chairs.

Had a booking on a Sunday night, which they apparently didn’t have it on their books even though we had the email confirmation. We got a table and tried ordering on our phones to make it easier to split the bill however the previous persons bill was still showing because the servers had not closed it. One of the servers then said they closed it but it was still not working so we got another server over who said she had to “open” the table, so then we could order online (why did the first waitress not do that?). Food was good, hot and tasty. The service was very poor, they weren’t attentive and you can tell they didn’t want to be there.

We had a sit down meal midweek and arrived around half 3. When we arrived we were told we could be seated but it would be nearer 4 before we could order food. We then had another waitress came to our table and took our order and we had our food within 10 minutes of ordering. Staff pleasant, very quiet place. Food was lovely.

Exquisite food. Delightful staff. Very poor acoustics inside so insisted to eat outdoors - luckily weather permitted - where it wasn't noisy.

We had a fantastic meal, service was brilliant, food came quickly and piping hot. But more importantly was seriously impressed with their attentiveness to allergies. I am coeliac and was given am ipad to click on what I couldnt eat then the specific menu came up. No searching for the tiny gf sign or having to ask what can I have. Was so easy and a pleasure. I feel so confident eating there which I'd important for a coeliac sufferer. Thank you for this.

Really lovely meal. I am a Big ravioli fan and this ravioli stuffed with goats cheese and spinach was best ever! Lemon cheesecake and cherry cheesecake also delicious ! All waitresses serving us were very friendly, efficient, super service. Will def come back- for that ravioli!😁👍

When we arrived, we stood about awkwardly while staff walked past us. We had a booking and we weren’t sure where to go to check in. Eventually someone came and got us and then we wandered about the restaurant behind her because they had no idea where to put us. The waiting staff was clueless, bringing the wrong drinks and asking my friend what kind of base she wanted her pepperoni pizza on…she ordered a gluten free vegetarian pizza. Pointing out the mistakes got us some snide looks and eye rolls from the waiting staff, as though we were the ones in the wrong. Getting things wrong is one thing, being rude to customers about it is something else entirely. When we finally got seated, the seats are awful. Just hard wood with no cushion or padding. The restaurant is noisy and chaotic and felt like a school cafeteria. They got one of the pasta dishes wrong multiple times, which was worrying because it was an allergy dish. Issues again when it came to the bill, they had no clue how to sort out the clubcard vouchers and no amount of US explaining to THEM got us anywhere until we had to speak to the manager. Honestly there are so many lovely places to eat in St Andrews, and atmosphere and service is just as important as the food, I wouldn’t waste your time. So, so stressful. Totally ruined our day out. Two stars instead of one for the others at the table who enjoyed their food once it came.

We were a table of 7, that arrived for dinner. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant which was overshadowed by staff being unbothered or stressed. Food arrived undercooked + freezing. When asking for condiments (enough for the table) we were given one tiny tub. We then asked again to be given the same. Then again… This made us feel very awkward and bothersome considering we were only asking for a condiment each. The staff member rolled their eyes at us and never brought any back. By this point we were irritated, due to having children asking for the sauce that we went and got it ourselves by the kitchen. There had been a spillage by our table upon our arrival and asked if this can be mopped due to a family member having a terminal illness which causes muscle weakness - would be very easy for her to trip and seriously injury herself. Again, the same member of staff said “I’ll deal with that in a bit” but never came back. I’m actually perplexed at how awful the service was. Working in retail + having worked in hospitality, I know how customers can be and also ensure to give to benefit of the doubt as I’ve been there. But there was no excuse for this. Only positive of the night was one of the lovely managers, (I didn’t catch her name!) was so helpful when it came to ordering for a few gluten free family members and ensured they were carefully shown their options. Other than that, I don’t believe any of us will be back at the St Andrews branch.

Average overpriced food. Garlic bread was burnt and didn't have either garlic or cheese. Salad portions are small relative to their size but it wasn't rubbish. Food was late by 10 mins when I ordered takeout with an initial wait time of 10 mins.

Visited on a Thursday around 1.30. We were 30 mins early for the booking but that was no problem. Lovely staff and a nice big airy restaurant. We order kid's margherita, pepperoni pizza, prawn linguine and the pollo/spanicio calzone. It was noted the linguine was the best yet and I loved the calzone, very filling. All other dishes were good and drinks were fairly priced. Service was prompt and very friendly. The only downside was the toilets which have rather grubby corridors and walls and some broken lighting.

Despite having booked in person earlier in the day, there was no reservation when we (party of 4) arrived. When the orders were brought to the table one of the main courses had been missed off the order. While we were dining, a dozen tables were being re-arranged, with some being dragged along the floor. The food was good enough but the service average.

There are many interesting places for good food in St. Andrews but few can beat the casual-ness and friendliness of Zizzi. One does not come here purely for food, whatever one gets in terms of quality is just icing on the cake. Not to say...

Surprisingly good food for a chain restaurant! My pasta dish, with king prawns, was excellent, and then the lemon cheesecake was lovely. Service could have been better, perhaps, but the waiting staff were friendly. We did think that the prices were a little high for this type of restaurant, but we were pleased with the food.

Lovely food, service not so much, served my assistant manager who swore at us while serving us?!? Very unprofessional in my opinion. Waiters/managers never checked to see if our food was okay and getting attention of any any server seemed like a mission. £16.99 tip added without our permission seemed rather cheeky also and assistant manager didn't seem too happy when we asked to remove this charge and made us calculate the bill without this?! Overall good food, poor service, whether that be poor training or over entitled severs, unfortunately don't think we'll be back.

Very disappointed with Zizzis today. We are regular visitors to this restaurant and came in at 5pm today for a quick bite to eat with my daughter. The restaurant was very quiet and yet apparently the man in charge of front of house claimed there...

Four of us enjoyed our lunch in Zizzi's but the restaurant was cold as we were near the front door with it opening and closing regularly on a cold day, and the waiting staff were very pleasant but the service was slow and we only had one course and coffees in nearly three hours.

Typical Zizzi food, terrible service, though, young waiter assigned to our table could not care less, or have worse attitude, unlikely to be a training issue, some people are just not geared for this type of job. Sitting outside in a lovely sun greatly improved overall experience.

Great food although the service was slow. Our table had a very intrusive hanging light fitment over the table which was not ideal. Excellent wine . The restaurant itself is looking a bit tired: the noise levels were high in this popular restaurant although it was fairly busy when we dined.

Terrible service. - took 30 minutes to serve kids’ desserts. Missing a lot of basic menu items (including chips); no flexibility in replacement choices (e.g. would not provide spaghetti for chicken Milanese unless purchased as a separate dish). Very disappointing.

arrived after work for some dinner at about 5pm and went into a seemingly quiet restaurant and was met by the waitstaff to be told that they were fully booked and could offer us a table at 7pm. so we left but decided to check the website to see if we could get a table for sooner and what would you know they had a table for 5:30 avalible still. we arrived back at 5:30 and entered to be met by the same waitstaff with a dismayed look on their faces and rude glances. we were seated after 5 minutes however it took a further 15 minutes for someone to ask if we were ready to order drinks and then by this point we were also ready to order food. as we got our drinks more people began to arrive and a women and a child sat next to us. They ordered their food after 10 minutes of being seated (ordered with the same waitress) and after 10 minutes received their pizza and a child pizza. now our orders were not hard to fulfill, a simple margarita pizza and the carbonara. however people who arrived after us have seemingly been getting their food before us. they have also received free pasta chips on most table if not all of the table who arrived after us but not us. as the waitstaff who previously denied us a table walks past he scowls and gives off rude looks. a large party entered (9-10 people) and they have received all of their food before us, myself and one friend. we continue to be asked by the waitress if we are “still” waiting on our mains. after they came over to take our previous drinks cups away and didn’t offer us to get other drinks or a refill we were simply asked if we wanted water. in short one star doesn’t even begin to describe my experience. Still currently sat here after an hour and 20 minutes and still not a main meal in sight.

We had a fab family meal here on 30/3. The 2 waiters were attentive, efficient & really nice. The food & the service was 10 out of 10. Loved it! Would hugely recommend and will return. Thanks SO much team Zizzi - St Andrews 🌟

Lovely dining experience, busy Saturday night but still had a nice vibe, waiting staff lovely and attentive. Food was superb we had a good mix of foods, calamari is a must try very fresh and tasty batter. The melted cheese fondant is delicious very strong cheddar. The pizzas are fantastic thin and crispy with just the right amount of topping, the pasta too is fresh and tasty. The puddings were yummy and the coffee smooth and strong.

Bit bare, lacks atmosphere, grand food and service

From previous experiences of Zizzi I've found them very hit or miss, sadly this one is a miss. Asked if we could be served outside as we had dogs and was told no. If they don't want our custom when we have dogs then they won't get it when we visit without the dogs. Since we are local and visit St Andrews frequently I'll save my money for the smaller friendlier eating establishments

Not even worth 1 star. I went with a group of friends and one of us ended in a&e from how bad the food poisoning was. Unless you want to be sick for the next 5 days I would advise not to eat here.

Had a reservation for 1630. Arrived early at 4, explained we were early and the waiter said, let me check. In the restaurant there was a table with 2 diners, table with 3 diners, and a guy with 2 young children. He said we could be seated but couldn't take our order till 1630. So 1630 came and he took our order. Whilst we waited, a group of 3 diners came in. So, it's around 1645. They ask for a table and are told he couldn't serve till 1715????, by this time, its almost hysterical. Another couple come in and sit themselves at a table, the waiter comes over and says it will be 30 mins wait, the gentleman looked at him in disbelief as by now its my table of 3 and the guy with the 2 children in only. He asked if they are even open and leaves!, The food was average but had better elsewhere to be honest. Will not be back to this location.

Absolutely terrible service. Arrived at 1700 on Sunday afternoon . About 3 tables out of 40 occupied. No one greeted us ,so sat down at one of the tables only to have a very abrupt individual come to us and tell if we hadn't booked he could not offer us a table. All we wanted was a pizza but no chance . Terrible, perhaps saved as if the food was as bad as the service and attitude we were perhaps better to try elsewhere.

We were originally going to go to a competitor around the corner but, they were extremely rude and blunt, however we are delighted that we came to Zizzi's instead! Seen to almost immediately and sat in a quiet corner of the restaurant. The host who greeted us was welcoming and enquired if we had a Zillionaires Club Rewards account, we didn't but, we were told if we signed up we would be offered free garlic bread 🍞. Not long after I actually signed up we received a delicious portion! My partner had the spaghetti pomodoro (which looked and tasted delicious) and I had the Rustica Piccante Pizza. All in all we had such a fantastic time and I'm happy that it all worked out! The atmosphere was great and the booth we were sat in was comfy and clean. I'm told the toilets in the women's were clean and sanitary too. Only thing to note was the obscenely large table that commandeered the restaurant at the time so we were waiting around for a while for our bill.
