Their dumplings are all homemade, there are many different types of fillings. The dumplings are authentic, but they are not the best. Price is decent, and the customer service is really good. Their cold dishs are very tasty. I would recommend dumplings and cold dishes.

The service is good but the food is horrible, the wonton does not look like the photo they posted at all, the dumplings all have very thick skin which do not like hand made dumplings. Never wanna go there again

I’m not sure why everyone said this place is amazing. But I guess it’s just personal taste. I personally prefer Oriental Cafe… I came here twice. Last time was years ago. We ordered mixed dumplings and noodles with black bean sauce. The dumplings were not very flavoursome and the noodles were quite fine noodles so I was a bit disappointed.

Highly recommended fried dumplings and five-spice tofu slices!

I don’t know if they’ve changed owners or something but this place has really gone downhill in the past year. This used to be my favourite place to eat. You could get a delicious hot meal for a good price. A main and a side for less than £12 and the service was always lovely. I would often go multiple times a week and take all my friends with me. I went in today hoping to get dumplings (£8.80) and tofu slices (£6.50) but couldn’t afford it so I just got veggie dumplings and paid £10.30. They ask for cash with a card minimum of £20, but what’s the point if the prices are so high? Now, Their prices are astronomical. Side dishes start from £6 (£6 for a cucumber slices is surely too much) and you can’t get a portion of dumplings for less than £8.50, it’s £1.50 extra to have it fried. I understand increasing the price of the food but charging £1.50 to fry it is unnecessary. When they first increased the price, I accepted it. Inflation is at an all time high and independent businesses need the most support. But then it increased again and again, and then the quality dropped. The food no longer has that soul warming flavour. My review has sadly gone from a strong 5 to a 2, and that’s just because I couldn’t bring myself to give them a 1. I really hope they go back to their old ways for the sake of their regulars.

I strongly recommend fried dumplings with egg, spinach& fungus and the hot sour vermicelli in soup! This was just amazing, I was looking for a proper Chinese meal in Cambridge and I think I got it! If you have space for a dessert you should try the red beans paste steamed bun.

2/3 of us had vicious food poisoning from this place. I’m not talking regular food poisoning. I’m talking firehose projectile vomiting. Food was pretty nice tasting (fried dumplings, pig ear, lemongrass beef, wuntun) but not worth the after effects. I’d avoid this place for risk of brutal food poisoning .

Noodles, dumplings and buns are 100% made from scratch. Very sincere business. Big menu but the food tastes very authentic.

Zhonghua has amazing football, whilst being very near to the Grafton centre. Frustratingly for the business as of the 12th Nov, they have wooden boards over the store front due to damaged windows. But are still open for business. Very friendly staff, quick to be seated and the food is simple but flavourful. I had the vegtable chili wuntun, which felt so warming and delicious as we reach the colder periods. A good choice of meal options, if you fancy Chinese food, you can't go wrong with this choice.

Honestly my favourite place to eat in Cambridge! So affordable, absolutely delicious, and really good vibes. The place is unassuming, so I wouldn't say it's the place for you if you want a candlelit dinner, but if you want INCREDIBLE Chinese food, dumplings, lovely side dishes and soup, this is the place for you. I'm completely obsessed with it and come all the time. Don't miss out!

For well over 10 years, Zhonghua maintained a strong and consistent standard of food and service. This is not fine dining, and it's mostly dumplings on their menu (with many different fillings and variations). But the dumplings are made fresh by the ladies at the back, and made very well. The seating room is small, but they have delivery on all online apps. This is a reliable quality food, for a very reasonable price.

Great place, we have been going to it for a very long time, but less frequently now. They have delicious dumplings and very nice noodles.

There are many kinds of dumplings, the taste is very good, the ingredients are fresh, and every time you go to have a meal, you can see the staff making dumplings by hand. It is a snack shop worth tasting!

The barbecue pork bun was delicious and had a generous amount of filling. The handmade fried and steamed dumplings we had were tasty but could do with some more flavour. The ambience is basic but they have an interesting chart of all of the Chinese New Year animals on the wall.

This Chinese restaurant is hands down one of my absolute favorites when it comes to grabbing a quick and delicious meal or snacks. Their menu boasts a delightful array of dumplings, noodles, wontons, baos, and even some mouthwatering hot and cold dishes. The flavours here are incredibly authentic, making every bite a delightful journey for your taste buds. And let's not forget about the fantastic value you get for your money. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the warm and friendly staff. They make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, adding a personal touch to your dining experience. (laidback atmosphere) In a nutshell, I can't recommend this place highly enough. It's the kind of spot where you'll want to become a regular, and I can't blame you – it's just that good!

I was a little disappointed, from reading all of these amazing reviews and having tried a lot of these dishes elsewhere - the food was tasteless and watered down, I got the prawn soup and chilli wontons, it didn’t have any flavour. I had to add a lot of vinegar, soy sauce and chilli oil which didn’t help. I was very unimpressed, perhaps it was an unlucky day but I wouldn’t come back here, there are other places that will make my mouth water for the same, if not a cheaper price.

We go here every time we go to Cambridge. Some of the best Dim Sum we've tried and at decent value. The decor is basic just like some of the best places we've eaten in and that is all part of the fun. Parking available nearby on local roads; don't aim for directly outside. A great addition would be to add some vibe and atmosphere with traditional music to match the traditional snacks! Also, as much as they prefer cash, they do accept card. Will always make a stop here when in the area.

The best dumplings in Cambridge

Zhonghua is one of Cambridge’s gems. The dumplings are heavenly, with plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. The tofu, pak choi, and mushroom in particular is an easy path to lifelong happiness. The fried dumplings are the way to go, and the many delicious appetisers will keep you busy while you wait for the masterpieces to come out. A must visit!

Came here for late lunch. The beef noodle and pig ears really hit it. I like the sourness, it makes a refreshing pig ears 'salad'. Also brought the steam dumplings for take away.

A very authentic place! I went there to have some warm soup and I have to say that it was delicious. The bowl was very big and we payed around £10 per person. I asked the waiter about some plates and he very enthusiast explaining them and recommending us. Perfect for a cheap and warm soup in the cold winter of Cambridge.

Dropped round for a small lunchtime snack (take out). Menu is predominantly varieties of steamed dumplings (fried available, extra charge), although for eat in, I note that wantan and noodle soups are also available. Note that cash payment is required for sums < GBP20. Service was friendly and helpful. Dumplings took a little while to cook, but that's the price for fresh food. Skin of dumplings was a nice texture (steamed), while filling wasn't too salty. Overall, good experience, and will update scores when other options on the menu have been explored.

Food was good. I had an unpleasant experience with paying which made the visit more hectic than I wished The place is “cash preferred”, and only at til we found out that the min spending for card is 20£. I noticed only a sign just next to the til, where I hadn’t looked before. I didn’t have the cash, so I either had to buy more, and wait for it cooked, or go out into the grocery store and withdraw the money I needed. While I understand the reason behind the cash policy, do ensure your customers still have a smooth experience

I’ve been coming here for the last year and everything I’ve tried has been fantastic. I recommend the beef noodles and the pork, prawns, and chives dumplings. They take card payments if you spend over 20 pounds.

Family run business and they do a great job. We some great dumplings here. Both the steamed and the fried. The seaweed salad was a bit spicy but the taste was absolutely there. Huge variety to choose I recommend the pork with kimchi that we tried.

What a brilliant little place! My family had never had Chinese food before and I’m so glad I brought them here because the food is DELICIOUS. They loved it and we loved that it was a small and cosy space! Forgot to take a picture of the food because it was so good and I literally forgot my phone existed. But I did take a picture of the aftermath: a stack of empty plates.

Very good food, big portions with great variety of choices. Fast service even when very crowded. Simple and casual environment. Only small problem is that they don't serve beer. Still the best dumplings in Cambridge.

Absolute favourite but decor could be better

The side dishes such as the shredded tofu, pig ears and dumplings were good. The noodles however were very disappointing. The soup base was bland, tasted like they were simply served in hot water. The “suan la fen” wasn’t sour at all.

Will not be back again. The buns taste the same as the ones you can buy in Asian supermarkets, but for the price of one bun here you can buy a whole box in the supermarket.

Very good food. I love the noodle soups you can get, very big and filling as well! I had a Char Sui Bao bun on the side which was also very tasty. Was reasonably priced too for the quality of food.

Good customer service from a family run restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and they were ready to run the options through. The dumplings were handmade and we had the hot & sour soup which warmed us on a cold night. Their vegetarian options were good and cosy seating arrangement. The only shame is the minimum card payment is £20 and they prefer cash mostly. But a worthy stop over

Food was as good as it could be from a small restaurant, but it sure was the first ever "restaurant " I ever been, without any toilet facilities for its own customers . According to section 20 of the 1976 Local Government MIscellaneous Provisions Act, is that toilets should be provided if food and drink is being sold for consumption on the premises. Especially for a business has more than 10 seats......and if my memories was right, I am sure they got more than 10 seats, as in my party we have 5 people, and I know there many other seats....sure its more than 5!

Cambridge institution for a reason. Fresh lovely handmade dumplings, good flavours, quick service, never had a bad experience here.

Lovely little eatery. Just don't take the images on the menu too seriously as they can be very deceiving. Our favourite dish is the lamb and cumin dumplings. A real treat is that they serve freshly made soya milk which is absolutely lovely paired with any of their spicier dishes.

Great place, long-time favourite — proper dumplings, handmade with fresh ingredients, including good range of vegetarian options, and great condiments (don’t neglect the garlic paste). Have been coming here for years, the quality and the prices have both stayed constant.

Really strong institution of Chinese food. They had so many awesome staple Chinese cold vegetable dishes such as dou fu si (豆腐丝）and seaweed (凉拌海带) among many others, which really gave me a deep sense of happiness and nostalgia; I have a lot of respect for them for just doing the simple classics well. The dumplings were also well made (with a great variety in selection) and the noodles were very respectable. The service was excellent and quick. The space is really small and the restaurant was packed when I visited a few months ago, but I thought the staff handled it super well. The only complaint is that they didn't have the pig ear or hot and sour noodles available when I went, but there are so many great dishes that I wasn't sad about it after. Additionally, I feel the prices are insanely good compared to the rest of Cambridge. Along with 1+1 rougamo, this is definitely a top S-tier institution of Chinese food in Cambridge!! This is a great place to share some small eats with a few friends.

BEST FOOD IN TOWN. These dumplings are homemade, fresh and super addictive! I’m on a clean eating plan at the moment so I haven’t been able to visit as frequently as I’d wish to, however prior to this I was eating here at-least once a week of not twice or more! I’d love to see some gluten free options, but otherwise it’s great! Huge variety for vegans - the tofu and kimchi are my fave, along with paprika and eggplant as a runner up! And the hot & sour vermicelli and newly added chilli veggie wontons are amazing too! Keep it up, see you soon!

Was really looking forward to trying here but was actually really disappointed. We ordered loads of different dumplings, they all tasted really strongly of sesame oil it was over powering, the beef and pork dumplings were all slimy. I guess they have cornflour in to seal them so think that might be what it was but there was loads of it all over the dumplings. It was really off putting.
