Delicious Takeaway, cannot wait to visit the restaurant. I particularly loved the chicken wings starter, everything was labelled up and piping hot. They catered very well for my garlic and wheat intolerance. Thank you Spence and the team!

We just had our first takeway (still under COVID restrictions so no eat-in as yet). Ordering by email, followed by payment over the phone was super-efficient. Kerbside pickup was easy and the meal was ready right on time. I loved that every single dish was clearly labelled and I'm happy to report that every single dish was delicious. All four of us enjoyed the food. We can't wait to go back and eat in.

Very frequent customer to Zen thai. Food is visually stunning, fresh and tasty. I always get a seafood dish and it never ceases to impress. Strong 11/10 !

We tried Zen Thai from recommendations after moving back to the area from Bristol. Quite simply, it was incredible!!For COVID reasons, we obviously had a takeaway, but the measures they go to to ensure social distancing is outstanding. Spencer was so helpful on the phone when ordering.Had a couple of dishes, but the Pad Thai was on par with what I have experienced in Thailand (everything else was super as well!)Can’t wait to try other dishes and will hopefully be able to experience everything the restaurant has to offer in the near future.. until then, it will be our go to takeaway place!!

We ate here and absolutely loved it. My husband is vegan and still bangs on about his meal there. I had the ginger delight and was lush. The staff were hugely knowledgeable and friendly and welcomed us. They offered advice on dishes and asked us about our day. Would definitely eat here again if we were visiting Cheddar again.

We visited Zen Thai last night whilst visiting Cheddar and wanted to thank the sweetest and kindest lady for being our hostess throughout the meal. She was wonderful, attentive and gave us lots of information on the menu. The food was really really delicious but I'd go back just to see her! Thank you so much.

We visited while in the area and had prebooked..glad we did as it was quite busy.Food was very tasty and had a great mixed starter. Mains were just as delicious and service was second to none. Very friendly and amazing food. We will be ba K when in the area.

Visited tonight for the first time for my husbands birthday and we will definitely return as soon as therestaurant is open again. The food was delicious, as nice as we’ve had in Thailand and we were made to feel very welcome with a special treat for the birthday boy. If you want beautiful Thai food served in a lovely setting with attentive and friendly staff, this is the place for you. Spence, Pear and the team really know how to make your visit special. I have been several times now and had takeaways. We have never been disappointed! Slowly working our way through the menu and enjoying every one! It really is well worth a visit!

Came to Cheddar on holiday and happened across this restaurant. Took my fussy ten year old daughter. Turns out she loved Pad Thai. The Tom yum soup was so tasty and the green curry was spot on. We loved it so much we immediately booked for the following night. The food is authentic and so tasty. The service is friendly and attentive. The space is comfortable and Covid safe. Highly recommended

From the service to the food, everything was spot on. Quite possibly the best Thai food I've had. Yimmy, our host, provided excellent recommendations, and was lovely. Had a sharing platter for starters, where everything was cooked to perfection, followed by a Panang, which was perfectly spiced. I will be going back. The dress code was informal, but we were very well dressed, so didn't look out of place in the beautiful setting.P.s. try the banana pancakes, they were an excellent finisher. You won't regret it.

Without a doubt the nicest Thai food I've ever had and easily the best service I've recieved at a restaurant.All the staff were welcoming and seem like they love their jobs. In particular Yimmy who's service was stupendous.I highly recommend paying these lovely people a visit!

I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough. I eat meat but we have a vegetarian in the family who loves the pineapple rice and tofu massaman curry. The rest of us love the lemon chicken. Make sure you visit.

We booked this restaurant as a group of 6 we arrived early and they got us straight to our table. The staff where all very helpful and friendly. All of the group said the food was lovley and thoroughly enjoy it. Would highly recommend this restaurant!

We visited today for my wife's birthday, the food was outstanding and the service was even better. After our meal zimmy let my wife chose a dessert on the house for her birthday. Overall excellent was excellent and if we return to the area in the future we will definitely return.Highly recommend trying

A wonderful meal in a very busy Thai restaurant. The owner's wife is Thai, so they know how to cook the food perfectly. I was overjoyed to have the mango sticky rice for dessert, as I hadn't had it since visiting Thailand. I wasn't disappointed. The staff were friendly and curteous and adhered to COVID-19 rules and regulations, whilst still making it a pleasurable evening out.

Visited with family whilst taking a break locally at Longmead Food was very fresh and delicious service was excellent and the environment felt covid safe Will defiantly visit again when back in the area

My partner & I stayed in Cheddar recently & had a meal in this wonderful restaurant. We were made to feelSo welcome & my multiple dietary requirements weren’t a problem at all! Visited cheddar for a few days and saw the restaurant as we were passing. Rang to book a table for the following evening and although they could only initially give us a late table, they pleasingly rang us back to let us know we could come earlier as other customers had finished. The staff were very welcoming, attentive and friendly and the food was out of this world. Easily the best meal we had during our trip in a nice and friendly atmosphere.

Came here for a second time and was just as pleased as before. Amazing flavourful food, portions are always very generous and even with being fully booked food came out swiftly. Staff make such an effort with customer service and it is clear to see they really value your custom. Could not recommend enough!

Visited the restaurant following reviews on TripAdvisor. It did not disappoint, felt safe, staff were really friendly, and the good was great.

We were staying locally in Cheddar and, having read reviews of restaurants generally in the area, decided to book a table at Zen's (in advance before we arrived and I'm glad we did). The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated and felt very calm even though it was full. We were promptly shown to our table and given menus along with prawn crackers to nibble whilst choosing our meals and I can honestly say that we had the nicest Thai meal we'd ever had in a very long time. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Would highly recommend a visit if you're in the vicinity, but book first!

Went for a takeaway. The crab rangoon was amazing, and loved the duck tamarind. If we find ourselves in Cheddar again we will for sure make a return visit. Thank you!

We have dined here several times in the past few months and always had a good experience. The food is always of the highest standard and the service is friendly and efficient. It is also great value for money. We will be returning.

We were made welcome by friendly staff, starter was delicious, I had seafood mushroom soup, hubby had sausages, both were very good. However, my spicy basil noodles with prawns was lacking in basil! And was pretty bland till I added my hubby's chilli sauce. He enjoyed his, then he had banana pancake, only it wasn't a pancake it was filo pastry. The chocolate sauce which covered it made it. It wasn't too heavy so that was good, overall quite yummy. Restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere.

Absolutely wonderful Thai meal. We ate as a family and were made to feel very welcome. There was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant - it really felt like a lovely, relaxed vibe where you were well-looked after. The food and service were excellent and you could see the staff working so hard to make sure everyone was happy. Make sure you book well in advance as this restaurant is rightly very popular.

The quality of the food and the friendly attentive service make this an excellent choice for a perfect evening out. Myself and my wife visited recently taking advantage of the Eat Out To Help Out scheme making our meals exceptional value for money. Every dish was, in our opinion, perfectly cooked. The waitress who served us was so lovely, keeping us updated on timings and regularly making sure we were happy with our food.Still a 5* meal but we did come away just a little concerned that this restaurant could be at a higher risk than necessary of a Covid-19 issue. Hand sanitiser was available on entry and chairs/tables were being thoroughly wiped down as guests left. However, it a small space and tables are quite close together. Staff members were waiting at tables without face coverings and mingled as a group around the bar area with no obvious social distancing between them. Maybe a few tweaks needed to minimise the risk of virus spread. No tweaks needed to the food though!

2 very different couples, my wife with ulcerative colitis made to feel very welcome and had an astounding meals. Couldn't ask for more will definitely be back

What can I say? Never in a million years did I think I would find an authentic Thai restaurant in cheddar but my god. This place is amazing and a must. Please don’t pass this place by you will be sorry

Don’t let the outside of the restaurant fool you. Once inside you are quickly transported to a full Thai experience. The food was delicious all the usuals you would expect plus some speciality dishes. Service was exceptional.It gets busy so make sure you book. The first time we wanted to eat it was fully booked so we opted for a take away from there instead. Food quality is not different between eating out abs inn.Highly recommended.

Booking is a must as it’s obviously incredibly popular!! We got an early table and were greeted with a warm welcome. Very cosy environment and lovely atmosphere (although not sure how Covid secure as it is very quaint and tables are quite close together). A lovely lady took out order and the food came out quickly. It was absolutely delicious, and to have empty plates from two young fussy children says something. Would highly recommend and we would definitely go again, it’s the best Thai food I’ve had in a long time!

We ate here last Saturday evening after this restaurant being recommended by our hotel. The lady (Yin??) was absolutely fantastic giving us great advice as we like spicy food and she told us to add spices rather than go for the Jungle - great advice!!!! They were so friendly and helpful and the price was good too. Can't wait to go back.

What a fantastic Restaurant, we poppedIn here on the off chance they had a table. Covid rules are followed to the letter veryClean and hygienic. Tables all appropriately distanced. Our lovely waitress explained the menu and gave suggestions on what to eat. Customer service is second to none! It really matters that you are having a good experience. A truly lovely restaurant, I wouldn’t hesitate returning here when we come back to cheddar.

Amazing food and service at this lovely little Thai restaurant. Our server was very helpful and informative, from helping us to choose the best starters to discussing the differences between Chang and Singha beer. Between us we had the duck curry, veg noodle soup, cashew chicken, sea bass rad khing, and broccoli & oyster. We loved it all! We all had the coconut rice as a side, which was equally brilliant.A lot of the meals can also be made vegan.

I had my first take-away last night from Zen thanks to the virus. First class service, very easy to book online and to chose pick-up time, then they phone to confirm and take payment. They then text you to tell you how to pick it up. All very easy. I parked right outside and they brought it out to me immediately.

We got a take away for Father’s Day. The food was incredible - one of the best thai’s I have had in a long time. They were very accommodating with different dietary requirements and much of the packaging was more environmentally friendly (starters in a cardboard box, rices in foil boxes). Highly highly recommend this place! Great, friendly service and excellent food.

My wife and I chose to eat at this restaurant after it was recommended by our hosts at Gordon's Hotel.All I can say is how glad we were that we followed up on this recommendation.We arrived in Cheddar on the Saturday so weren't optimistic about our chances of getting a table at the restaurant that night but thought we'd give it ago anyway.As we weren't too bothered about what time we ate, we were pleased to be told a table would be available at 21.00 which we accepted. On arrival we were shown to our table and offered drinks then chose our food.Thai fishcakes and chicken satay for starters and chicken massaman and cashew chicken, both with rice for mains. My wife had a dessert of banana fritters.Our food and drinks were served by an excellent waiter who also gave us lots of useful information about the area.The food and service were exceptional! The restaurant was full for most of the time we were there but staff were still very attentive and could not do enough for us.I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Again, flawless food and great service almost one year on. The owners have settled into a wonderful rhythm - and their capability shows in their food. Every mouthful, as you press it into the palate, gives you authentic, tasty and simply beautiful sensations of well thought out and wonderfully prepared and cooked fayre. This has to be a place one has to visit if one is visiting Cheddar, and if they aren't careful, will eclipse even the famous Gorge for local notoriety and attraction. ten out of ten again, Zen. Ordered a takeaway from here which was by far the worst takeaway me and my partner had ever experienced.The food was over cooked, dry and flavourless! Also expensive for what it was, we were shocked by the portion size of the starters for £11.95!Disappointing as we have eaten in this restaurant before and really enjoyed the food.

Last time I came here to eat it was called Laos Thai. Since then, the decor, staff and menu have all had a revamp.Visited mid-week and the place was fully booked. Friendly, efficient service and a menu with plenty to choose from. In many instances, you can pick your sauce (and decide how hot you'd like it) and whether to have beef, chicken, fish or prawns with it.It's not the cheapest, but then the food is v good. We had some prawn crackers, two starters, three mains, a portion of rice and a couple of beers and the bill was just over £60. Money well spent.Looking forward to going back!

Well what can I say.... Beautiful setting with a lovely restaurant and what a great team of staff.... I had the chefs special lobster which was divine.... The service was first class and nothing was too much trouble....

Excellent meal the mixed starter was delicious and presented beautifully. For the main I had the duck tamarind it was amazing, mum had the green curry which she thoroughly enjoyed and dad had the Pad Prik which which was also delicious. The welcome was extremely friendly and everyone was very attentive. Couldn’t recommend more will be back soon.

Visited here whilst on holiday in the local area after reading all of the other good reviews on Tripadvisor and was not disappointed. Great Thai flavours and nice choice of options on the menu, with a friendly service. Restaurant also has good atmosphere and nicely decorated. Definitely recommended!

It was raining like Noah's flood as we entered the calming ambience of this restaurant. It was quiet being early sunday evening and the proprietors were so welcoming, kind and generous of spirit. The food was lovely with great Thai flavours bursting through. Good value, good food and an enjoyable place to ride out the storm. We wish the lovely people at Zen Thai for a great future for this lovely place. Also we hope they get to see the wonderful Bridgewater Carnival next year :-)

Have been here this evening with my husband and 4 year old son. Food and service were excellent. They were incredibly lovely to my son which he loved. If we’re ever in the area again, we will return. Thank you so much for a lovely dinner.

Visited the restaurant to receive a warm reception. Decor of restaurant authentic especially the tables! Wow. The food in my opinion is some of the best I have ever sampled. Crab Rangoon starter was like nothing I have ever tasted, owners own recipe, highly recommend. Service impeccable, felt at home with the owners and staff. Very well done 10/10.

We were planning a nice meal for my wife's birthday and boy did this place deliver. Its never easy to have a relaxing meal with 2 young kids so we opted for a takeaway. The staff were very chatty and friendly while i waited and the order was spot on. The food was well packed and remained hot until we got it on the plate. The sharing platter for 2 was very fresh and the dumplings with soy dressing were sublime. Once we polished that off we tackled the Lamb Massaman with chicken pad thai. Both were really tasty and my wife mentioned it was the best pad Thai she has had for a long time which was nice to hear as it was her birthday. Its a big thumbs up from the Christie family from Aberdeen!

Visited on a last minute weekend away. Small intimate little restaurant situated in the middle of Cheddar. Food was exceptional, service even better. Would thoroughly recommend the deep fried ice-cream

Arrived at the restaurant and were met by friendly staff and shown to our table. The restaurant decor was much improved since it came under new ownership. The tables themselves were intricately carved authentic pieces as were most of the pictures and other items in the restaurant. The staff were very welcoming and dressed in authentic Thai dress. It all added up to pleasant environment and a relaxed enjoyable atmosphere. The menu was excellent with a nice variety of dishes to choose from. The staff were helpful in explaining the menu and providing answers to questions. The food arrived without undue delay. We were a party of six and we all found the food different, really tasty and filling. We will definitely go back and can thoroughly recommend this establishment if you like Thai. Overall a really pleasant experience.

We've eaten here a couple of times in the last month. The service is very friendly and the Thai food is delicious. Good quality ingredients and flavours that make me want to go back again. Really recommend trying the the home made Thai desserts.Really enjoyable evening out.

Late on a Sunday night in September we decided to drive into Cheddar because we were quite hungry, and staying in the area.What a great place! Authentic Thai food, (much of which was homemade), and a warm welcome received from the delightful owners and their helpers.Lots of home-made specialities and deserts to die for-these relatively new owners deserve to do well. Congratulations.

Had been maybe a year since our last Thai take-away from here, which was the previous restaurant with different managemen, and not brilliantly.Soooooo glad the restaurant has changed hands with new management ar the helm. Service was very efficient, the food freshly prepared a d the taste, everything you would want.I'd you like Thai cuisine, give the place a go.... you will not be disappointed.

Happened across this place when visiting Cheddar. What a find!The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. Thai inspired decor with relaxing (but not at all tinkly / cheesy) music add to a beautiful ambience.The menu is delightfully understandable, not ridiculously expansive like some restaurants but catering to a wide range of tastes and palates. Pricing was really straight forward as well. Really simple, you can see what you want and what you'll payService was very prompt and the staff were happy to chat - if you wanted them to. The food was absolutely delicious, I'm a big Thai food fan, this is right up there with the best of them. Tasty, light and fresh. Clearly prepared by excellent chefs with the best ingredients.Chatting to the owner whilst paying the (very reasonable) bill, they're a local family, from the town and clearly very passionate about good food and excellent service. I can't recommend this place highly enough. If I'm ever anywhere near Cheddar again, this will be top of my restaurant list!

This was a late booking on Bank Holiday Monday with no problem. The restaurant will take about 30 covers and cook everything fresh to order and to your taste.We had the Red Thai Curry and the Massaman Curry which were both delicious and we shared the banana fritters for dessert. We’d never tried that before and it was amazing. Really friendly service from all front on house staff. And as built into the cliff, the restaurant was fresh, even on a warm evening.

So I booked a table for our wedding anniversary last night. (25/8/19) as I had heard good things about the restaurant and wanted to give it a try. Both myself and 'Mission Control' love Thai so I thought it worth a punt. How happy I was I did. From the warm welcome as we stepped through the door to the best wishes when we left the complete experience was brilliant. As we usually do, we take far too long to ponder the menu but this was not a problem and the friendly staff were happy to give us longer or any advise we wanted. The specials looked yum but we went for a mixed started to share which was lovely. The Thai Pork Sausages were worth having on their own!! The for main I went for a beef dish which was new to me. Glad I did it based lovely. Fresh ingredients tender beer.......now I want it again! The chap who served us, who was the husband of the boss was friendly and funny and very attentive. Pud as well, bottle of wine and a couple of drinks. fantastic night. The Lady who owns it was an absolute star. we were not pressured at all, given plenty of time and made very welcome. Lovely lady lovely place great meal. I would have no hesitation recommending this restaurant. Book to avoid disappointment as it is not the biggest but that I fell adds to the ambience of the place. Check out the table designs when you go there! AND MAKE SURE YOU DO GO THERE otherwise you really are missing out on a great night. Oh, and have the deep-fried Ice cream! I kid you not!!!

Food and service out of this world ! Definitely one to visit! By far, the best Thai food we have eaten...and we eat a lot of Thai food!

Popped into this place prior to a flight out from Bristol. Parking in the car park opposite the restaurant is free in the evening. Crab and cream cheese wontons were pleasant but not strong enough to cope with the sweey chilli sauce. Satay was fine. Duck salad was a little fatty for my wife, but the papaya salad was just delicious. Pad Thai and my rice were fine. Enjoyed the flavours and hope to return next Friday. Only minus point for my wife was that when we went there were only two tables occupied and we had been placed next to each other, so both tables could hear every others words.

We had a take away for four, the sticky rice turned up in a boil in the bag and was so overcooked in a microwave we couldn't cut it with a knife. Jasmine rice and coconut rice were edible. No variety of vegetables, all green beans. Everything was very runny, could hardly taste coconut milk in masaman. Jungle curry very runny and certainly not comparable with other meals we have had.

Fabulous meal tonight. This was our first visit after a recommendation and food did not disappoint. We had a mixed platter starter and a main and rice each. All of it arrived promptly and the flavours were fantastic. We were informed that they were slightly short staffed and they apologised if there was any delays but to be honest you wouldn't have noticed if they hadn't said. It was very nice that they did mention it though, many restaurants wouldn't bother.The food is very reasonably priced and they seem to do takeaway too which is great to know. The only tiny, tiny criticism is that my curry came on a serving plate, it would have been better in a bowl as it was difficult to spoon up the sauce.We will definitely be returning very soon., I can't wait to go back.

A small restaurant at the foot of Cheddar Gorge. Tastefully decorated with Thai wall hangings and carvings. Friendly welcome on arrival and staff attentive throughout without being overbearing.The food was fantastic- clean tasting, good use of spices but not overdone. Very reasonably priced!Recommend booking in advance as limited table numbers. You will also be transported to another place and have your tastebuds tickled. Just Do It!

loved the mixed starter and choice of dips and the main courses were lovely too. Especially loved the sauce for the red curry, very smooth. We will definitely be back, one of the best Thai meals we've had outside of Thailand. :)

Had a wonderful meal here. Great staff, who were very welcoming and friendly. Family friendly. The food was excellent. We had the wontons to start and could have eaten them all night. The Pad Thai is gorgeous too. If you are looking to eat out in Cheddar then you would be mad to miss this brilliant restaurant. We will return as soon as possible.

After seeing the reviews on here we decided to give Zen Thai a try, we weren't disappointed. They gave us a nice table at the front of the restaurant, it had a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We ordered a mixed platter to start with and really enjoyed it, we followed it with garlic and pepper chicken, spicy basil pork, pad thai and fried rice. This was the ideal amount for the two of us and it was excellent. Will definitely return.

Myself and a colleague popped in on the off chance as we were staying close by on business and had a great experience. Even though we did not book they happily accommodated us. The food was excellent very tasty and full of flavour. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The service is great. I would definitely recommend visiting.

Today I enjoyed a wonderful authentic Thai meal in the heart of Cheddar. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated with a warm welcoming feel. I was unsure of what to choose but was helped through the menu by the owners . The sharing platter starter was lovely in presentation and obviously made with skill and passion. The main course of spicy chicken noodles was equally good with an excellent blend of spice. I cannot fault the restaurant in any way, it is a credit to the owners and a great addition to the Cheddar community.

We arrived late, but Zen Thai said, it’s okay. As a family of four, we didn’t expect something really outstanding, but we were surprised: the food was really fantastic - the chicken was not dry, the broccoli was al dente as well, Jasmin rice was true Thai style and everything was really like - we remembered when we’ve been in Thailand long ago. What you can expect: true Thai food! What was the best: the athmosphere with ambient/trance music, very very friendly staff and a familiarity at its best! We will come back!

This is a really nice Thai restaurant which is decorated tastefully. I had satay chicken to start and pad thai with prawns as a main, both delicious and cooked well, my partner had the pork dumplings as a starter and spicy basil pork with noodles for a main he said it was delicious also. We shared banana fritters and ice cream for dessert and it was really good. I really recommend this restaurant the food was really good and the service excellent, the only thing for us the music was not to our taste it was a bit loud and samey but I expect it's traditional Thai music and other people would like it.

Omg amazing Thai food in a beautiful setting.The staff are wonderful, very welcoming and friendly and helped me pick the right dish with just the right amount of heat level for my taste buds. It all went down very quickly that I forgot to take any pictures. For pudding I had the best deep fried ice cream I’ve ever tasted.Looking forward to going again to try another few dishes..

Truly delicious Thai, authentic flavours, reasonable prices, friendly staff, attractive restaurant - and easy to order take away to collect to enrich the Cheddar camping experience. We’ll definitely be back!
