What an amazing place, full of charm. Love the tiny, unassuming venue! The food is epic. Visited with work friends for a Christmas outing. Portions and flavours are great. Staff are friendly and attentive. BYOB and cash only. - perfect

We had an excellent meal. The chilli squid was great, chilli crab was ok, the sushi was outstanding, particularly the volcano rolls, the duck noodles were good. Desserts were lovely, especially the fondant. This is a BYOB place but we happily had soft drinks. Cash only and hard to get seats on busy nights so best to book ahead at this popular local restaurant.

The most disgusting sushi in all of London! for this we paid 22 pounds. just look at this. this was my first and last time! never again

Zaibatsu is fabulous hidden gem!!! Fresh, tasty and incredibly friendly. It has a huge variety for everyone (my partner hates sushi but was really impressed) it’s also BYO if you want to drink and extremely good value for money. what this place lacks in aesthetics it definitely makes up for with the fresh traditional flavours. We will definitely be visiting regularly.

Been regularly going to Zaibatsu since 2019, since then it has been favourite restaurant. The food is amazing and great value for money! The service is great and we are always happy to leave a decent tip as they do not add on service charge to your bill. They have a huge variety of dishes to choose from on the menu, the sushi in particular is the highlight for me.

We live nearby and have been going to zaibatsu regularly for years. We absolutely love the food (especially the chicken Katsu curry which is my favourite). The service is always lovely and the owners are friendly. Some cleaning would definitely help (mainly the windowsill area by the door as it’s quite dusty). However, still one of my favourite restaurants overall!

This has been the best discovery of my life! The food and service is absolutely stunning. We’ve been regulars for years; never a disappointment. Highly to recommend from whichever part of London you’re visiting or living!

We hadn’t visited Zaibatsu for years. It hasn’t changed a bit. It has a cafe style and the food is fantastic, from the wonderful sushi to the tasty noodles and lightly coated soft shell crab. The service was quick and super friendly. It still has the charm and the prices are cheap for the quality of food. Thoroughly recommended.

We went overboard on the ordering and apart from the seaweed salad ( a bit too authentic ) enjoyed all the dishes. Ribs in BBQ sauce, mixed tempura, cod in tempura, sushi, noodles ... all amazing, fresh and such good value for money. Few things to note - cash only, BYO for booze, not heated so pretty cold at the moment but well worth it. Service efficient and friendly but not effusive. Will go back

This is a must visit restaurant hidden away in Greenwich. Few things; doesn't look like much from the front, but never judge a book by its cover No cards accepted so bring cash , and they don't hold a liquor license but you can bring your own booze. My family and I went and I was hoping that they would at least try a few new dishes, and low and behold, my very fussy eater of a son has fallen in love with Japanese food. Portion sizes are good, we split or main dishes and we definitely had enough food, the chicken fried rice is quite large. Truly a delicious little gem of a restaurant. Would also advise to book your table

So good. Was craving sashimi and all my favourite authentic Japanese restaurants seem to have closed down. Visited on the strength of recommendations here. Had mixed sashimi, rice, miso soup. The fish was tasty and fresh and very good value. My son was pleased with the Chinese and fusion food on offer and had his favourite which is spring rolls. It’s very ordinary inside, everything could do with a lick of paint and new menus as the ones we had were a bit mucky. But I came for the food and wasn’t disappointed. Will come back for sure. It’s free corkage so would be a v reasonable night out if I was drinking. Staff were perfect.

I may not be a Londoner but do I ever love visiting for this tasty food. I feel like home every time I return. The last visit I had a pasta with some kind of squid or seafood that blew my socks off. Wonderful people.

This unassuming family run restaurant cranks out a wide variety of Japanese, fusion and sushi dishes. Despite the cramped interior, large menu, and unglamorous location, the food quality is really good, comparable to places costing double elsewhere in town. Portions are enormous! Bring cash as it's cash only, and book in advance, by phone, as it's busy, and there's no web booking.

Absolutely incredible!! We all love Japanese food but this was one of the best restaurants we’ve been to for it. The value for money is amazing, the food is so fresh and the service is great too. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Super cheap food for the quality. The options are ENDLESS. Really quick service and always a positive to BYOB. Only downside is that you are quite on top of each other and the actual setting of the restaurant is very small, so you sometimes feel a bit rushed to clear the table for the next group. Esta es una verdadera joya de vecindario con excelente comida que me recuerda al Sudeste Asiático: sabores frescos que cantan en su paladar y están bellamente presentados. Great small little place in Greenwich, my partner and I just go there again and again, we mostly do take away as we don't live far away. Their Malaysian laksa or Sizzlings are most recommended.

This place had delicious food, my partner and I shared the ‘classic sushi set’ which consisted of California rolls with a range of nigiri (£15.95). The sushi was fresh and so beautifully presented. Definitely recommend the sushi - high quality at a affordable price. We also ordered the ‘Tori katsu curry’ (£6) and the ‘Yaki Japanese Udon’ (£6.80) both which were absolutely delicious. Aside from the food, the staff at Zaibatsu were so friendly and welcoming. Even though the place was getting quite busy the two wait staff were so calm and accommodating, it was lovely to see them being so kind to one another and also to the chefs. The interior of the restaurant is more like a casual cafe with little seating which doesn’t reflect the quality of the food, however, do not let this dissuade you from eating here! We will definitely eat returning to Zaibatsu often!

The sushi itself was good, but I think I’ll order to take out next time. The whole experience put me on edge. The place was packed when we arrived and we were seated in the corner right next to the entrance to the kitchen, which is where the staff stand. We were reminded on multiple occasions that we should hurry up as we were only allowed to stay in the restaurant for an hour (despite not saying the same to a rather loud and obnoxious couple who were seated beside us and were there before we arrived!). The staff were so keen to get us out that they were literally staring at us, waiting for us to finish our plates. As soon as we put the last bite of food in our mouths our plates were swooped off the table and replaced with the bill. Just a bit crap really! And FYI we were seated at 6:30 and left at 7:20 - so it’s not as if we were out staying our welcome.

Mon restaurant japonais préféré!! Les produits sont frais, service rapide, prix bas. Le Lamb est divin. J’y vais 2-3 fois par mois et je vous invite à tester!! La façade ne paie pas de mine ... comme quoi!

This is a hidden gem in Trafalgar Road Greenwich. The noodles and Sushi are fresh and taste amazing Service is fast so if you want a slow eating pace order food at your pleasure Don’t forget to take your own booze.

Los platos chinos son tan-tan, pero los platos japoneses son muy buenos. Pescado fresco y una buena selección de sashimi y sushi a precios muy razonables. Además, no se vende alcohol en el local, pero es gratis. ¡Volveré!

Bought a take away Friday evening, vegetables with rice noodles and tofu....The Plastic Tray was full to the brim with at least 85% rice noodles with dashes of soy sauce, hardly any vegetables,that were barely stir fried and certainly not al dente, much harder!....Plus No Tofu to be seen at all!!

Love the food here. Dragon and soft shell crab rolls are incredible. White tuna and spicy tuna are both superb and love the salmon teriyaki

Return visit, I’ve never found anywhere quite like this. Formica topped tables, bring your own booze with no corkage charge. Wide ranging menu of Asian/Japanese dishes. We have it a good test, ordering chicken gyoza, honey ribs, squid, California rolls, cold marinated beef, chicken Kyota curry and loads more. All delicious and served very promptly by lovely staff. It’s a quick fire experience, in, order, served, eat, out in less than 90 minutes but the staff are so efficient you don’t feel rushed. £17.50 each including well deserved tip, cash only. Just great, book and go.

From the outside you would think it’s a pokey take away, you go in to a very modest, small restaurant but it’s always spotlessly clean and service is extremely fast & staff are super welcoming and friendly! The food is to die for and very reasonably priced. If you go there make sure you book as they get very busy but be ready for a real treat the food is stunning and the presentation is gorgeous! Tasty traditional Japanese food can’t get better as far I’m concerned!!!! Don’t miss out get down there it’s only on maze hill. Thanks team Zaibatsu I’ve literally been in about 5 times since my friend introduced me to this amazing find! I even get my take away from there now as you cannot beat it! If you do go make sure you try the deep fried veggie dumplings wow wow wow !

They can’t make us feel less welcome if they try. We’ve booked a table at 5:30 and then was told that we have the table till 7, When we got there they said you can only be here for an hour. The food quality justly reduce since last year we came, and they were rushing out food and repeatedly coming over to ours have we finish on food yet. Dreadful customer service, Sushi was falling apart, and not the freshest.

after eating here for some 3 years i can honestly say i had one of the worst meals ever on Saturday night,up untill then we have always enjoyed this little hangout.The decor has never changed with the door being held on with elastic bands and the chairs that was stolen from from the local primary school but hey never mind the food always made up for it.Guys what ever you done on Saturday please don,t repeat it.I thought the chicken in the katsu curry was so hard i was surprised it did not ask me out for a fight.

Have been here a few times and have always booked ahead because of popularity. Unfortunately last time we went we felt rushed and pressured from the start to order quickly, eat quickly and leave quickly. Sadly this really spoilt the whole experience and left a bitter taste in our mouths so probably won't be going back despite the fact that the food is generally good as quite frankly not worth the stress!

Very disappointing after having to leave last night. Menu clearly marked with vegetarian items - was told by the waiter that the sauces and noodle soups all contain either chicken powder or fish sauce. The waiter was so switched off when we asked him to point out the vegan choices and did not check with kitchen to clarify. Why do you have vegetarian dishes that contain some animal products? We had a small baby with us and were made to feel not welcome. We also felt we were lied to about the animal products in the vegetarian/vegan dishes to make us leave. You succeeded, we left.

The appearance of this place inside and outside doesn’t look great, but don’t let this deceive you, the food is very good! The service is very good and it’s good value for money. I really enjoyed the sushi. Excellent choice for vegetarians.

I am a sushi lover and always looking for great places to eat Sushi, I visited many places before and recently heard about Zaibatsu and its great reviews. We went in on Saturday night having a table booked for 21:00, the place must have around 8 tables and it was busy. We ordered a few starters (special mention to the oat prawns ) sushi rolls and we shared a Katsu curry, all food was amazing and you can bring your own booze too. Can’t recommend this place enough and looking forward to going back.

Fabulous food , great menu really well presented and large portions always book as this place is so busy . Only down side is in the winter it cold and the tables are so close together but you forget all that as the food is so good .

We visited friends in London and suggested we had some lunch, we called ahead and managed to get a table, very luck as the place was packed. We had an array of starters and sushi all was outstanding if flavour and portion size, main courses we had a selection curry’s and prawns, noodles satay chicken and more well one of the best I have tasted. Service was fast and polite, the place was buzzing as full. Cost so reasonable especially in London. It nearby don’t walk past well worth a visit. We will definitely be going back soon

The sushi at this restaurant is the best that I have had in the UK after my trip to Japan. The starters were okay if a bit expensive for what they were. However the sushi was under priced for it quality.

The best sushi and chicken satay I've ever experienced. We travel from Kent to Greenwich just for this but we are have left dissappointed. The noodles are so juicy and all of the meat perfectly cooked. 5*

This is a small, basic Japanese restaurant that looks like nothing from the outside, but the food is excellent. We had a selection of sushi, catering both for a vegan and a meat eater . We were very impressed with the quality of the food and when we got the bill, we were very surprised that it cost so little. The place was very busy on a midweek night, which says a lot. An absolute gem.

Was very crowded when we visited on a Sunday afternoon. You probably do have to book a table beforehand, as we did for two people. We were sat at the back right next to the kitchen so probably felt even busier as we had the staff walking to and from it past us. I can't even remember the food so I wouldn't say it was amazing, but it was affordable (for sushi). If you want a nice atmosphere rather than a quick bite then I wouldn't go here.

Excellent Asian fusion food - Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese. Great salt and pepper squid, tempura and noodles. Very busy canteen style restaurant with well presented and very tasty food served by very efficient and friendly staff. Would highly recommend.
