Luckily although it was very busy we got a table straight away, great choice on the menu and our order was taken quite quickly. However, only one drink came out and we had to ask for the other after waiting another 10 mins for a bottle of coke. Sipping away we waited for our starters.....after 40 mins waiting for steamed buns and dumplings we asked how long it would be, and we then had them on the table within 5 mins. A similar delay for the main course definitely tainted the experience. The food was most definitely fabulous and perhaps they just hadn't anticipated how busy it would be, but the annoyance of the delay could have been mitigated by someone actually explaining there was a delay and it not taking us to ask someone to prompt this!

Vibrant restaurant warmly greeted and sat quickly even though busy. This was my first visit and the menu was a bit daunting as the choice is huge. I opted for a red curry.... hands down the best I have tried, full of chicken and could taste every individual item on the plate. If you want to add a little difference to your dish you can order the Zaap sauce as an accompaniment which I highly recommend.

The food here is outstanding. Big portions, excellent value. The staff were lovely, the service was perfect. We didn’t have to wait long for our meal. The only feedback I can give on a less positive note, is the toilets. The ladies toilets weren’t clean, quite smelly. The large sink was very grubby, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a long time.I would definitely return as the food is amazing, but shame about the toilets.

The starters were amazing and the pancake with custard for dessert! The decor is fun and creates an enjoyable dining experience. The mains weren’t much to talk about as lacked in flavour. The mains didn’t come at the same time therefore, to eat together we had to get the other warmed up. We knew it was street food but with creating a sit down restaurant environment you imagine eating together at the same time.

My partner and I visit Leeds a few times a year to watch bands, and usually just go McDonald's or wetherspoons. We decided to venture out and eat closer to the venue of Santiagos and picked Zaap as it was really busy and we like Asian food. He was not impressed with his quite bland tofu, cabbage and flat noodle dish 46. I tried it and finished it, found it acceptable but not amazing, not enough flavour. I on the other hand was impressed with 50, a spicy mixed meat ramen broth with a boiled egg in it. We liked the singha beer and didn't have room for pudding.

Food tastes good and uses real Thai ingredients (unlike many ‘thai’ places claim in UK) and place does a good job of recreating typical street establishment you can find in Thailand. A touch expensive, but gotten too used to paying 40 baht (£1) for pad krapow with my wife at our home in Saraburi, so everything in England seems pricey.

A repeat visit to Newcastle, we have also been to the Leeds branch. We dropped in for my birthday. No wait, straight to a table. We ordered some appetizers first before we ordered our mains. Fish cakes, crackers and spring rolls, all very nice. Main courses were all very tasty. Service is very swift. My only issue is the tightness of all the tables, not much space behind your chair with diners behind you. Less than a 300mm gap to the table next door.

Amazing Thai food & atmosphere in the restaurant, cheap prices, staff are friendly and helped friends understand what some of the dishes are! Only reason I didn't give it a five star (I really wanted to) is because the service was slower than previous times I went but they were busy (they usually handle busy spells better so I'm guessing they have a few new staff who are learning).

Food was ok but nothing special. The Belly pork ordered was mild at best despite being advertised as spicy. I ordered prawn crackers 3 times and 3 times it got added to the bill.....however I never recieved any of them. Firstly, in their defence, I think we got a very inexperienced waitress, as we were told that we could not change ingredients on the menu (even though they had the ingred, so for example, a prawn salad could not become a chicken one and so on). Although when it came to the salad order we asked for the shrimp salad to be changed to fresh prawn and were told ok and the order was repeated back. The order was then sent out to our table wrong, with steamed vegetables turning up, that we didn't order and my soup came with the dried shrimp (all three of them interlaced in a limp salad served only in a tiny cereal bowl - so hardly any shrimps and was a poor presentation effort anyway). We of course asked for the salad to be returned but were met with block after block from all of the staff that were whispering and colluding in play sight - it was embarrassing. We had to endure speaking with 4 different people inc managers + waitresses and even her auntie's friend, it seemed, in the end, such was the level of forensic investigation. "Just take the salad for goodness sake" ...apologise and move on and retain a customer. Do not question if your customers even asked for prawn. It was all very awkward and the passing of blame should never be labelled with the customer. They seemed intent on diminished responsibility for a tiny misdemeanour. So all in all our order was wrong and we were questioned and questionbed repeatedly, it made us feel unwelcome and as such we will never come back again. Big shame as we were fairly regular. Although 2 years ago when we first came to Zaap it was so much better...salads were better presented and tasted better, starters did not appear like quick frozen solutions and soups were not so sour and creamier. Bad experience and need to work on what is important to them, one salad missed payment or a long term customer. In my opinion not a patch on Chaoprayha, Sukhothai or Jino's in Headingely - appreciate this is a cafe but still...not good and gone downhill. Decor sitll pretty cool though and menu reads well. Staff and food is a big X

We've tried most of the Thai in Leeds over the years, and this is one of the best by far. We went on a weeknight and it was busy, but we got a table right away. Me and my friend visited around 9pm last night, it was fairly busy but were seated straight away. It took a while to have our order taken, where we ordered drinks, starters and mains all at the same time. The starters came before the drinks. After our starters it had then quietened down, however me and my friend found ourselves waiting 30-45 minutes for the mains to come out, we then had to tell the staff because they had clearly forgotten about us as people who had just come in were getting food way sooner. Then had to wait another 10 minutes or so. They were very apologetic and offered a free drink but shouldn’t be happening when the place had quietened down by then. The food itself was just average, just a lot of rice, a lot of veg and a few prawns, I think the dishes are very overpriced. I’ve had much cheaper and better Thai food in Leeds. When calling in somewhere for street food, you shouldn’t expect to wait as long as what we did last night. The air con was also blowing stupidly cold and was probably warmer outside than it was in there.

My partner and I visited the Leeds restaurant this past weekend when we were on a weekend away for my birthday. We found this place in a guide book, and being massive fans of Thailand and Thai food we couldn’t give this place a miss. We weren’t disappointed! In fact, we were so impressed that we went back the following day! The service was brilliant even in a busy Saturday afternoon, and the food truly was authentic Thai street food, without a doubt, the best we have had outside of Thailand. We will definitely be back and we’re so pleased to find out that they’ve also got a restaurant in Nottingham which is even closer to us. Do not miss this place, you won’t be disappointed. Giving three stars because I’ve been twice before and really enjoyed the food but on this visit the food was really poor. We came in late after the theatre after 10pm so perhaps that’s why. I had spring rolls which were hard and chewy, not crispy and flakey like you would expect. Then I had tofu pad Thai. The tofu was very dry. Like chewing a sponge so I had to leave it and the noodles were a bit under cooked. They also didn’t really taste of anything. I was really disappointed. But, like I said I’ve been before and loved it so hopefully this was just an off day. The restaurant is really great, very authentic Thai and the staff were great. I’m sure I’ll be back.

Amazing food with a friendly environment. During rush hour, it can be a bit busy sometimes and is notable that the waiters and waitresses are doing their best. Food can be spicy but hey..you are in a Thai restaurant right? You wouldn't walk into an Ice-Cream store and expect a hot Burger, would you? Also, as a frequent customer, I use my cognitive ability granted to me as a human being to alway enquire about how spicy the food can be before confirming my order. Similarly, if you are thinking of visiting Zaap Thai, use that organ embedded in your skull, dust those cob-webs away and ask yourself: how spicy this food can be? If you don't have the answer, just ask. That's simple. Food taste? Amazing. I was born and bred in South East Asia and the food at Zaap Thai always brings me back home. The place can be a bit cram but is alright. It creates a street food atmosphere and I love it. Highly recommended to those who wants great Thai food and atmosphere.

Zaap Thai is clearly popular. The queue at 7pm ok a Friday was long despite the huge number of tables crammed into the faux-Thai market style interior. And it’s all quite charming. You can squeeze into a pretend tuktuk to drink your pre-dinner drinks. And the noise and excitement in the room is fairly infectious. Beer is decent - Chang lager or something more western if you fancy. Food, when you reach your table is served fast and is decent enough. The mixed starter Bankok Plates - served in veggie and meat variants were tasty if not sophisticated. The Pad Thai and Pad Mei acceptable if not stellar, and rather heavy on the msg, salt and sugar. But they washed down well with a Chang, and at less than £60 for starters and mains for three people, including a bottle of beer each, whose complaining. Event/experience dining on the cheap, served fast and without fuss. As chains go, it’s not a bad one.

Visited here before attending snow patrol concert, the place was packed at 5.30 but got seated quickly, the poor waitress was rushed off her feet taking orders, so the drinks took a while to come, but the food arrived quickly. The starters and mains were first class, we will definitely eat there again.

Zaap Thai is yet another restaurant that makes me long for another grade between 4 and 5. I could just use 4 for this and bump all my 4s down to 3s and so on, but then I think I'd be deviating from the distribution that's normal on this site and just unduly dragging down the score of anywhere I visited and didn't love. Oh well - read the reviews not just the scores, I guess.

A group of nine of us visited Zaap on a cold Thursday in January at about 7pm. We were amazed to see how busy it was, but soon found out why. The smiling waiting staff gave us great service, and unexpectedly quickly given the number of people eating. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was buzzing. Definitely will be back.

I visited with two children on Sunday, there was no queue and we were offered a Tut tut straight away. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, they could see the kitchen from the tut tuts and were facinated. The service was quick and friendly, I ordered a few starters and mains for us all to share and loved each meal.

This place is great! You'll have to queue to get in most of the time but it's well worth the wait. The food is amazing and there is so much choice! There are also some great veggie and vegan options on the menu too!

As close to authentic Thai as you're gonna get in the UK! A really good selection of dishes with plentiful drinks on offer. Tasty, fragrant and decent portion sizes. I can highly recommend.

Sono una cliente abituale di Zaap. L'ultima volta sono stata lo scorso Novembre e deve dire che la qualità è sempre eccellente e l'ambiente è fantastico.Sembra di essere in Thailandia. Da provare assolutamente.

I can tell you without a doubt that this is the best Thai restaurant in Leeds. I have been to My Thai, Thai Edge, Mays Thai Cafe, Thai Aroy Dee and Sukothai, and although all the others were good, Zaap has been better every time. The setting, how quick the service is, and the quality of the food just win it for me every time. I’ve read a few reviews that the food here isn’t authentic Thai? I think that’s non sense, I’ve travelled Thailand twice and can confirm that Zaap food tastes exactly like what I had in Thailand.
