Yummy Kitchen in Powys

We got Fish N Chips takeout at this place, and it was one of the best I've ever tasted. We ate our lunch on a bench outside of town, and it was lovely.

Half the menu was not available but the thing that was really upsetting was how the young lady behind the counter was being treated by her boss. Quotes such as “you will never progress in life” just shows what an ego maniac the guy is and I hope the lady sees her worth and gets out of that job -fast!

Fancied some fish & chips as we were stopping over in Crickhowell,fish was cooked fresh,medium cod was quite big & good chips,they were very enjoyable

I can’t get my head around why so many people have written bad reviews about Yummy Kitchen. Being our local chippy we think it’s really good. The menu is very extensive, the wait times aren’t too long, the food is really good. There is usually a longer waiting time for things such as pizza and the freshly cooked foods such as chicken goujons, scampi etc, as they have to cook it fresh but they’re lovely once you have them. Portions are always over generous, especially the chips which we always seem to have too much of and there is always spare. The paper they use doesn’t stick too badly like a lot of chip shops. Always wrapped really well. They sell their own chippy vinegar which is always a bonus as it is slightly nicer than normal vinegar. If your staying make sure to drop by, you won’t be disappointed, it’s a lot nicer than the reviews make it out to be. Not open on Sunday’s!! TIP: Ask for LOTS of vinegar, they never give enough!

If your visiting Crickhowell in South Wales, please don't go to yummies, this must be the worst service and food I have ever had, the donner meat was.. Well just horrible ,it was hard ,cold and just awful, there was only just enough for a child, and it qas so greasy, the chips where not cooked properly, they hardly had any colour on them, and again very greasy, the salad,( witch qas an optional extra) qas pathetic to say the least, it's chips with the kebab or salad, really!!!, I ordered on the phone, but when I got there at the time they said, I had another 10 min wait untill i got my food, they didn't ha e a clue what I ordered, and when it came I went outside, and checked for the dipping sauce, and there was only one and not two, when I got back to my hotle, there qas no curry sauce, I order 2 of them and they didn't put even one in, I had to go back and ask them for the curry, they said I hadn't charged me for it even though I was read the order back to me, they then wanted to charge me again for it, we had had to put the kebab in the oven to warm up as it was as cold as a dead person when I got back, how this chip shop(if you can call it that) has kept open for so long g is just amazing, do your self a favour, eat from a skip, it will be more enjoyable

We were staying a few nights in Crickhowell and fancied fish and chips to eat in our motorhome!! Visited this chip shop and ordered 2 large cod and chips.. the cod was the biggest ever!! Fantastic… Everything was freshly good and delicious, great chip shop. The owner was lovely and made us laugh. Chip shops can be hit and miss but this was was definitely a hit..

Stopped to have fish and chips early in the evening. The fish was clearly left over from lunch. How on earth do you make fish tough? The chips were incredibly greasy. Don't bother.

Kebab tasted awful not sure what they cooked it in, but inedible, disgusting food not planning on returning!

Delicious takeaway food with generous portions! If you're staying in the area (we're staying in the local caravan site) we would definitely recommend. Our experience has been really positive. Loads of choice and really tasty.

A wide range of standard take-away food with good home delivery service. Yummy Kitchen has been available all through lockdown and has been great asset to the community and passing traffic. Good pizza !

Placed an order in store for takeaway and when we got home, we realised half of the order was wrong. The food was cold, hard and really greasy. We called the kitchen to complain and was told we had to bring 60% of the food back which at this time was already put in the bin. Apparently this was their policy however this is not stated online or in the store. After mentioning to the manager that we had already put the food in the bin, he said “if you want a refund, you will have to bring it here because I need to see the food.” Throughout this conversation with the manager, he was extremely rude and abrupt and did not in any way sound as if he wanted to resolve the situation. I’m not sure if we chose to eat from here on the wrong day but for sure we definitely will be staying away from here in future!

Pretty good fish & chips. We had a HUGE cod, chips and mushy peas and was all good. They had sausages and pies too.

So glad to see this Crickhowell chippy still serving after our absence of many years. Even more glad to be served beautifully cooked fish from a good selection on the menu. Our relatives from Yorkshire were relieved to find that gravy was on offer but, in my humble East Midlands opinion, the highlight was the Irish curry sauce. Highly recommend!

Nice Little Village Chippy in the centre of town. Good choice of food but average quailty and price.

Friendly welcoming chip shop with sit in area. There is one step. Had sweet potato fries and corned beef pasty. Wow. Great prices.

What a place. Such a variety of food to choose from. We had a couple of ten inch pizzas from the menu and they were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. Also, we were given some little doughnuts. Great service and great food. Thank you

Me and my partner bought food on our way home, wasnt cheap, chips were fine, fish was dry and a beigh colour, sausage was almost white. I took i bite of each it was awful. I definatly would have returned for a refund if we wasnt half way home. Only ate a small bit and was ill all night. I do not recormend and wont be returning. thanks but no thanks.

Only eaten from here once. The shop itself is very clean. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. The fish and chips weren’t really to our taste. Soft greasy chips and flat soggy batter on the fish. But that aside. The Irish curry sauce is amazing. If you like soft chips and batter this will be perfect for you.

The is a traditional fish and chip shop which also offers some in shop dining. The shop is open 7 days a week and always provides good value for money. The portion sizes (for chips) are excellent. The staff are always cheerful and obliging.

We were looking for a smaller, take-away meal and Yummy Kitchen fit the bill. The staff was friendly and the food was good.

Great service, all food was freshly cooked up. Large portions of chips with a great cheese burger. Second day enjoyed a pizza - great quality. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Delicious fish and chips. Had 'Take Away' here twice whilst on holiday locally. Very varied menu. Would have tried the Pizza if staying longer. Can Eat In or Take Away.

"Well let's try the fish and chips save cooking " walked in and was very quickly served and did not take much notice of what was given to me , fish and chips twice please . When we got home the fish was very dry and had either been over cooked by an hour or was cooked an hour earlier and then kept warm , either way it was the worst fish and chips ever ps and not cheap it looked like a mini fish and chips but for the two it was about £11 so not cheap in fish and chip terms : Hope Rick Stien never pops in for a meal. Anyway went straight back and was reassured by the staff it was fresh fish so my health would not be at risk and it was probably cooked for a couple of hours hence the sad state of it , lady did give me my money back . Would not be returning .

Mi marido y yo estábamos en Gales visitar nuestros amigos. Habíamos ido a caminar a lo largo de parte de un canal y luego vinieron en Crickhowell. Todos estábamos hambrientos y decidimos sobre el pescado y patatas fritas. Vimos la cocina deliciosa y fuimos. Era bastante pequeña, pero limpia y ordenada. Pedir y todo recién cocinado. Estaban a punto de cerrar, pero nos sirvió de muy buen grado. El pescado estaba bien preparado tanto el bacalao y la merluza y las patatas fritas eran sabrosos.

Very nice fish and chips. Family tea whilst on hols. Only problem was my husband forgetting the mushy peas!!

Gave it one last chance and it failed miserably. Never again. Staff didnt really seem very interested which is extremely unusual for this beautiful little town.

Hemos tenido llevar pescado y patatas fritas en dos ocasiones en los últimos 9 meses ya que conduzca a través de Crickhowell, y en ambas ocasiones las patatas fritas y los peces han sido muy agradable y fresco y de buen tamaño de la porción. Tienes que esperar por el pescado, pero al menos sé que es fresca y sabrosa, será el chino salsa curry también es muy buena, la tienda chip es señalizado por la carretera principal y es una pequeña calle de ida en la carretera principal.

visited Saturday lunch time, wanting pizza as stated in the menu, walked upto the far end where the pizza is made, asked the owner Dave for pizza,, he told us to order at till (where his wife was) so went there, was completely ignored for a few minutes, then told "we only do pizza in the evening. which is not stated anywhere on the take away menu or the menu on the wall. Apart from not stating pizza only in evening you would think the owner (Dave) would know this fact but obviously not, so we decided on chips and sausage in batter and having eaten the food it was just as bad as the service/. btw avoid Wok experience its same owners and the food and service is just as bad

Called in to this chippy for a rushed bite to eat, ordered chips and cheese, it was awful. Chips were luke warm and stale tasting, cheese was horrid too. I felt quite ill. Staff disinterested too.

Was impressed by the wide variety of food on offer - not just fish and chips but also pizza, kebabs, grilled chicken and much more. We actually visited twice - first time my chips were a bit dry and I'd dared to try the saveloy in batter (instant artery blocker). It was a bit much! The second time I opted for fish and chips and it was really good, plus half a normal sausage which was good.It was really busy when we went in and the staff dealt with the queue well. All seemed friendly, helpful and polite.

Chip shop, serves reasonable food but no children's meals and very unfriendly. I saw a couple returning their food and were faced with a very grumpy owner who then preceded to ignore my request then bark at me for eating her food in her restaurant! I think it would be good to remember that these businesses rely on serving the customer....

Nothing to special we had a dine-in meal that was very average, the batter on my fish was too thick my wife's faggots was obviously from the freezer and she felt the veg. should have been fresh other frozen

Decent fish and chips. They were super hot even after the 5 minute walk back to our holiday cottage. The regular size portions were ample-goodness knows what a large portion of chips would look like!

Me and my parter have been here a few times first few times were OK. But we went on a Saturday evening and ordered a 1 small fish, 3 small chips, 1 fish cake and a small battered sausage, the lady behind the serving was lovely and very pleasant. But the lady cooking the food wasn't she could bearly crack a smile and wasn't very polite!! We had our food to take away and when I got home I wasn't impressed, everything was greasy and not nice at all! The fish was even worse I couldn't eat one bit, I placed my fork on top and the grease dripped out! Won't be visiting again!

I went in and i asked for two Haddock and one portion of chips as the portions are large, I had to wait a while as the fish was cooked to order when it arrived it was beautifully cooked the batter was crisp and the fish was tasty. The chips were crispy and well cooked. The staff were helpful and although the place was packed the service was great. But don't have the fish cakes.

Takeaway pizza in Crickhowell, although we sat in and ate ours. If you want a restaurant atmosphere this isn't for you, however we wanted to have something reasonably cheap having eaten out in one of the pubs earlier in the week. There r about three tables at the back of the takeaway. Staff were friendly and pizza is highly recommended, one of the taistest we've had in a long time.

What I really like about the fish and chips at Yummy Kitchen is that the food is never greasy. The staff are always friendly,the fish is always cooked to order and portions always huge.Excellent value for money.

My last review of this eatery was not the best so I thought I would give them another chance..................wrong!The food was average to good but the female behind the counter obviously does not enjoy her job, she was surly and her attitude was not the norm for Crickhowell as she did not have any manners whatsoever . I think the last time she smiled was probably before the internet was invented. Semms a strange job for someone with NO people skills.

A week before I took a group of 20 school children in for chips, I phoned ahead and warned the owners that we'd be arriving as a large group on Thursday 14th May, and was told this would be no problem. When we arrived we were "greeted" (for want of a better word) with surliness and a poor attitude from the lady serving us. We were then told to get out immediately after being served. Will not be going there again, the woman had such a grumpy demeanour it was like she was doing us a favour serving us food that we'd paid for. There was a definite air of it being a local shop for local people.

We had a house special pizza and it was amazing. Wasn't greasy or bland and finally we had some nice taste to a pizza. They finished it within 10 minutes. The lady who served us was a bit cold with us but the food was good.

The owner was very chatty and informative without being in your face. The girl who cooked our meal was also very friendly and helpful. The food itself was very nice and the fish was as big as a whale. So big in fact that we were given a container and brought it home for the cat who probably thought it was a whale but seemed more impressed that we brought it all the way from Crickhowell to Pontypridd for her....but that's another story. Classed as a restaraunt but only room for about 8 people.

my wife and I had the misfortune of using this place for a take out fish and chip meal. The chips were ok but the fish was horrible as was the batter , there was an aftertaste which can only be described as sour and it tasted as though whatever medium it was cooked in was rancid. Sorry to say this but it was terrible.

Very good pizza. Handmade, traditional Italian dough and quality toppings cooked in a stonebased clay oven. Waiting time about 15mins, very reasonable for quality pizza. Prepared fresh by the lovely young lad who used to cook fish and chips over the road.These are not your adverage fast food pizza of processed cheese and toppings on premade bases. Would equate to Pizzaronte in Abergavenny, excellent quality and think I prefer the pizzas from Yummy Kitchen.

This take away was of great quality we recommend the gourmet burger and pizzas. We were expecting greasy spoons quality but the food was ablsoultey great!

Dissapointed. Was fed up with chippy over the road so tried this place only to find they'd moved. Same greasy chips, grumpy staff and very boney fish. Won't be returning

Yummy kitchen .. Questionable choice in name ... The best choice for a gourmet burger At a very reasonable price.. I highly recommend this place .
