Yips in East Riding of Yorkshire

Quite honestly the best Chinese meal I think I’ve ever eaten.Visited with a group of friends and the experience was great from start to finish. Greeted by friendly staff who seated us straight away. Orders were taken promptly and we were brought drinks and prawn crackers whilst we waited for our starters. The restaurant was full so we had a short wait between starters and mains but I prefer this to feeling rushed anyway so suited us perfectly. All of us enjoyed every single dish we chose. I had a sizzling beef dish and the meat was so tender I barely had to chew it. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Just fantastic!

Absolutely fabulous food, both my wife and myself had the Fisherman's basket - squid, king prawn and scallops in a crispy nest, they were cooked to perfection. Service was exceptional, will definitely visit again.

Best place in Brid for a Chinese. Never been disappointed. Friendly staff and great location - right on the seafront opposite the Spa. Only concern was the social distancing as table are very tight together. Other than that, great.

We visited this exceptional restaurant as a family in July 2021, and I am really pleased to give this place five stars, as it is without doubt the best Chinese restaurant I have ever visited (and we have been to many). Do not doubt the quality of this place, just get in there. I do advise you book though as it appears to be very popular.From the outset we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly owner, and given a nice table with a revolving “lazy Susan” centre. And from that point onwards it just got better and better. There were four of us and we started off with two set mixed starters. My wife and I had the seafood mix, and the prawns and squid were absolutely top notch, cooked to perfection and hitting every conceivable button. We then all shared half a crispy duck. Again, it was of absolute top quality, with a lovely hoisin sauce and the duck really crispy and yet not dried out. The pancakes were thin too so you didn’t find yourself getting too stuffed!Then we had a mix of main courses, with egg fried rice and Singapore noodles. Speaking for me and my wife we had sweet and sour pork and scallops with mange tout, both of which were, again, superb.In short, every dish was absolutely spot on. It was for us a throwback to how Chinese places used to be, with the focus on quality rather than cheap tasteless buffets (which sadly seems to be more the norm these days). We ate every single thing, which says a lot as often there is a pile of food left over. Having said that there was plenty for everyone, with the portions spot on. It was as if it was all tailor made for us.Again, I have to say this was the best Chinese experience we have ever had, so if you are in town get yourself booked in. You will certainly not be disappointed and will walk out very happy indeed.

Lovely food. We called on the off chance and were lucky to get a table in this busy restaurant. Had starters and 2 mains to share. Special chow mein and char Sui pork, both delicious. Friendly staff and well priced. Would definitely go again when in Bridlington.

Came here with my family during our holiday and it was absolutely delicious! Service was second to none as well. Food was average priced, we had a variety of dishes, all were delish and service was very quick - no waiting around between courses! Would defo recommend and will defo return!

Came here for dinner after our visit into Brid. Really friendly service, and great food. Highly recommend the chow main noodles and chicken fu yung. Place is limited so would advice booking. Highly recommend.

Visited 27/08/21. First time visit and won't be our last. Service was friendly and professional. Our food was delicious. Highly recommend the crispy aromatic duck with pancakes and sauce. Restaurant is on the seafront and right opposite the bridlington spa.

They fit me and my dad in twice with no booking even though they were busy, we soon understood why it was so busy, everything have eaten has been beautiful, the service was also excellent, we enjoyed it so much the first time we went back the next day was excellent

A real effort was made to accommodate our requested dining time, yet we never felt hurried to finish our meal. Food was fantastic, Dim Sum fabulous and service with a smile, what more do you want

Small portions for the price. Still hungry on leaving. Very disappointed. I had Crispy beef and my partner had special curry and we had to pay for our chips separately as they weren't included. Got just a bit more than a handful.

Despite being in a prime/expensive site the bill was fantastic value (especially the wine, £20 for a great Fleurie)Duck pancakes really great Service quick but not too quickWe went twice in one week because it was so good. Been many times and apreciate that the pandemic has forced restaurants to diversify, however, I don't expect to pay £70 for an average chinese meal in a draughty doorway with a continues stream of takeaway service going past. We might as well have been sitting outside. Not impressed.

Although we did not have a booking a rather grumpy waitress showed us to a table and handed us the menus without uttering a word ☹️. The food however was plentiful and tasty.

Two stars lost - why? Spare ribs were not cooked... this is a big no in food hygiene terms Second star lost - as at the end of the day it’s overpriced and portions are small... in the age of the internet it’s also a bit stupid that there is no online menu.... + service with a bit more of a smile isn’t too hard... and goes a long way to rebuild trust lost during the pandemic.. Overall a nice meal cooked in a reasonable time frame but sadly can’t rate the overall experience as more than a little below average.

Staying at the South shore holiday village and fancied a Chinese.Went on TripAdvisor and this one came up as the best in Bridlington.Rang up and ordered, they delivered it within the time they said and it was lovely, really tasty, fresh and still hot.IWe both felt it was great and would definitely order from there agai.

Nicely cooked food , ordered sweet and sour chicken but received lemon chicken which was a disappointment but it tasted ok. All rest of meal was excellent though don't expect large portions .

Waited 40 minutes outside for it them they decided to not put my beef curry in so i had to go back and wait another 20 minutes.the food was cold and the food that wasnt cold were both descusting

Had 3 takeaways during covid which they delivered. Can't fault the food or the service. Hope they carry on with deliveries when all this is over.

When you really just want a Chinese meal this is the place to come After reading reviews on trip adviser we were not disappointed The COVID measures in place were fantastic and so was the food I had the hose special fried rice which was full of mixed meats and prawns and my husband had the chicken in black bean With fried rice which was lovely Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back

Wanted a take awy on our first night away and Yips was top of the searches and literally 2 mins away from where we were staying (opposite the Spa).There are signs up at the door asking you not to enter unless you are going eat in (and to wear a mask as you enter until seated) so we looked at the menu in the window and phoned the order through. Around 20 minutes later, we waited outside where the food was brought to us by a lady wearing mask/visor, paid contactless by card and went back to our apartment to eat. Very impressed with the adherence to the covid restrictions. The food was lovely, generous portions and piping hot. The quarter crispy duck was especially nice and plentiful, with duck left over after we'd eaten 2 pancakes each. The chicken fried rice was reportedly lovely with plenty of succulent chicken and my beef in pepper an black bean sauce was deliciously spicy and the rice soft and fluffy. It was on the expensive side, but worth it in my opinion. Would I go back - definitely and would also consider eating in too!

Had a delivery of food which arrived quickly,piping hot and of a great quality,a little over priced ,however really enjoyed it.

Good hot and sour soup and duck pancakes. Special chown was very average as was the chicken and hot bean. Especially disliked the payment options. ATM machine loaded with numerous large tip options making you feel obliged to choose more than you feel comfortable with.

Was staying in Sewerby and looking for somewhere to get Chinese takeaway from and found this place online.Found their Facebook page which had photos of their takeaway menu on so called to place an order.Went to collect it when I was told to and paid.Drive the ten mins back to where we were staying and the food was still all hot by the time we got back.The sweet and sour chicken was very good. Lovely small pieces of chicken in a lovely batter which had gone soggy in the sauce (in a good way!)The chicken chow mein was also good. Lovely thin noodles and plenty of pieces of chicken with lots of veg.The quarter duck was very nice, and seemed like a very big portion.The crispy shredded beef was really nice, as was the egg fried rice.The only real issues we had was the crispy seaweed (wasn't really crispy and didn't taste of anything) and the prawn crackers (some of them seemed burnt and were very brown and strangely spicy, and the rest tasted quite stale) and the vegetable mini spring rolls (which we only got 3 of)

The restaurant looked lovely, clean and well laid out but because of family circumstances we needed a takeaway.Food choices were good and the quantity excellent a real feast. Everyone in the family really enjoyed it.The folk running Yips were really nice and helpful too.

you need to book ahead with this restaurant as it was very busy. The table are a bit crowded together for my liking in the current circumstances. The service was a little slow- although the waitress took our order promptly the drinks and food tool a long time to arrive reflecting their busyness. We were sat upstairs which felt a little too harshly lit for dinner. There is a good wine selection averaging about £16.95-£19.95 a bottle. The food ranged from excellent to average dependent on dish - the really good dishes were the satay chicken skewers, crispy duck and beef and mushroom. Not as good in our opinion were the chow mein and sweet and sour chicken the chow mein was a little dry as was the meat in the sweet and sour. A nice meal overall but not consistent.

We booked a table for a family banquet and found the staff quite abrupt with poor communication and poor people skills. The food is ok but nothing special. The 'eat out to help out' post Covid-19 incentive scheme was not honoured even though we ate on a Wednesday. There are far better places to eat out in Bridlington.

Ordered takeaway twice from here, everyone enjoyed the food, plenty of it, tasty and a good temperature. Definitely a good option for a nice meal if you’re ever self catering in Brid and fancy a night off cooking.

We turned up last night without a booking, they were busy but were able to seat us upstairs and as soon as it became free down stairs moved us. They were very accommodating, the lady who served us was chatty and really sweet. The food was amazing, we ordered quiet a bit and because our eyes were bigger then our belly’s we took some home which was nice too! We will return and recommend to friends in Bridlington. My family and I ordered a takeaway the other day and it was delicious. Our daughter loves the crackers. Also vegetarian options on menu too. When collected, the staff were really friendly. Would recommend. Well done

Starters good, but put off by lack of social distance between our tables. Wife moved to my side to ensure there was distance. They didn't seem to be able to gauge bookings and where to put people within the eating time frame at safe distance. Main of crispy duck, slices with skin on weren't anywhere crispy. Beef in black bean very mediocre, no bite to it at all. Shame this is the only Chinese restaurant in Bridlington we could find.

We got a takeaway from here on Friday 28th. We were looking forward to it since our last visits.Again the food was good and tasty. However, part way through my House Special curry i thought I was chewing something long and stringy, but it was already halfway down my throat and I could not retrieve it. When I inspected the remainder of my dish I fished out a long black hair, about 10 to 12 inch long. (never thought of taking a photo at the time).My missus is blonde and I am bald, oh, and we did not make the food , so it certainly wasn't from us.This was the only issue really. Probably the kitchen staff need to take more care?

A group of 16 of us a visit for a banquet meal at Yips 1900 for 1930 start. Singles and Couples at a group rate of £15.00 each.(Paid for at the end of meal in cash or by Credit/ Debit Cards ) (excluding drinks that were paid for by individuals at point of sale) First came the bowls of Prawn Crackers, then Starters followed by Main meals served on hot plates. The mains included, beef, duck, prawn, Sweet & Sour pork and chicken and a large bowl of Boiled Rice. Most of us had beer (Alcoholic or non-alcoholic) some had wine and some soft drinks. Coffee/ Tea were served in place of dessert including an after dinner mint chocolate. Moist prepacked hand towels were provided to clean hands and face post eating.The staff were very polite and courteous. The service was excellent and the food served hot and delicious.This is the first time that my wife, Beatrice, and I have eaten at this establishment, but we shall re-visit again.

As far as we could tell, this was the only Chinese Restaurant in Bridlington (apart from take-aways) and often, when there is no real competition, your can get something sub-standard. Not so with Yips. The food was very good and the service was friendly and efficient. Some of my local London Chinese restaurants could learn a thing or two from Yips. If ever I am back in Bridlington, Yips will be on my menu!

I put order over phone took over 10 minitues has the manager didnt know what she was doing!!! She told me be ready withing 10 mins. So my hubby went after 10 mins to go a fetch it he got greeted by the snotty manager who said i told you 20 mins my hubby said no you said 10 mins she then started raising her voice and said no 20 mins you can wait outside and i call you when it done!!! My hubby stood in the cold and rain for over 15 mins. He came back with the food we live across the street and the food was cold in the chicken fried rice they was hardly any meat same has in the foo yung. The prawn crackers was last nights batch done they was soft and dry and tastless. It came to nearly £25 and for what we ordered it was very expensive we wont be going there again we will choose somewhere different such shame has we used to love the place.

Opposite Bridlington’s Spa is a family run Chinese restaurant. I have been to this lovely restaurant a number of times and it is consistently good. The menu is just what you would expect. We had Banquet A for £23 per person. Three courses, starters, crispy duck and then three main dishes and rice. We began, of course, with prawn crackers whilst choosing what we were going to eat. Wine begins at around £15 a bottle. So good value and the staff are lovely. Happy ‘Year of the Rat’ when it arrives.

Visited with a vegetarian colleague on a Monday night. We had the vegetarian banquet for two and very good it was too !!! All very tasty and well prepared including Hot & Sour soup, Pancake rolls, seaweed, sweet & sour veg, aubergine/ tofu in black bean sauce, stir fried veg & vegetable rice. Highly recommended.

Visited here after reading reviews. There was a group of 12 and they managed to cook our order in 20 minutes. Food was delicious and I would highly recommend the special curry and bbq ribs. Friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for you. Will definitely return on our next trip to Bridlington

We had a sit down meal one night and takeaway later in the week.Welcoming, friendly staff. Good atmosphere. The food here is great, I'd say the best chinese food we have eaten in a very, very long time. Everything was fresh, non greasy and presented very well. The special curry sauce has a good bite to it. Some good fish dishes on the menu which I will be trying next time.I can certainly recommend this place.

I ordered the satay chicken and my boyfriend ordered the chicken chow mein. We both absolutely LOVED our food, and the owners/staff are so attentive and friendly. Before they brought out our food they asked if we were sharing our meals and we said yes, so they brought out a little hotplate to keep our food warm while we shared. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you get. Will definitely be visiting again when we visit Brid again next year

Managed to get a table for a Friday evening and wasn’t disappointed,lovely meal,very tasty and prices not to high

Went in here last night after seeing Ben Elton, as it was straight across the road. We dropped on as the waitress we had was very smiley & attentive. The other waitress was a little surly but only came to our table once so all good. Our waitress gave us some tips on portion size & was helpful. The food came very quickly & was hot, great size portions, a bit too much for us if I’m honest, but tasty. Enjoyed the chicken satay & Singapore fried rice, also had a king prawn foo yung & there was loads of prawns in it.

My parents and I had a fabulous dinner at Yipps on Friday evening, excellent quality sea food and service at a reasonable price.

Visited on a Friday night. Busy restaurant which we like. Ordered the banquet for 2. Food was lovely. Too much really and I asked to take some of mine with me. Service was good. Asked if we wanted a break between courses. Would definitely return.

After reading mixed reviews nearly didn't go to Yips. Fortunately we did. Very pleasant restaurant. Attentive staff. Food was excellent and good value. Would recommend a visit.

Me and my husband really enjoyed the food but the service let us down. We were waiting quite a while for our courses. It was very busy and the young girl serving didn’t smile once. Would still try it again though.

I can rarely go to a Chinese and have a decent meal as a coeliac since properly prepared gluten free cooking is hard to find, whereas here I can have the best selection - I recommend the salt and pepper mushrooms for a starter, incredible! The staff - especially Helen (sorry if I have your name wrong!) - are so welcoming and we had a lovely chat both times we went in.

Wonderful for lunch - although we always ask for the A le cart menu as the selection is wide ranging, with some fantastic options. Evenings here get very busy, so book to make sure you dont miss out. Chils friendly, great for meetings, fantastic for family get togethers - we just love it.

Right in front of us, a car pulled out of a space in a packed street, and we drove straight in. Where shall we eat? Oh look - a Chinese Restaurant - I could go a curry! In we went and 10 minutes later were enjoying a superb takeaway on a quiet spot looking over south cliff beach. One for the memory book. Great service, especially the complementary soy sauce.

We went to Yips on a lunchtime. It was empty. After eating I am not surprised. Our meals came separately served up by a miserable waitress who obviously didn’t like the interruption to her conversation with four other members of staff at the bar who never stopped their loud talking all the time we were eating. Poor portions and barely warm. So disappointing as we had been told by friends it was a good place to dine. More disappointing as it was my husband’s birthday. One to forget.

We visited this restaurant twice while in Bridlington, and were not disappointed. There are delicious options on the menu, and the service is speedy and efficient. There are tablecloths, and everything is clean and sparkling. The second time we were with our grandchildren, I had fallen over on the way, so we were going to be late for our table booking. My grandson went to tell them in the restaurant, and they kindly kept our booked table ready for us. We can recommend Yips to anyone visiting Bridlington.

Food is very good although portions are not large unless you are going for bsanquet meals. 4 star because toilets are up a steep flight of stairs so nor siutable for disabled visiters

We were away in Bridlington for a few days, & returned to see if they were as good as on previous visits - we were not disappointed :) Although the set menu looked great, we chose to order our own dishes, which arrived fast & were a generous size. The service was fast & efficient, and we thought it was pretty good value too. Next time we're in Brid, we'll be back.

We been coming to bridlington now for years . And the service the staff and most of all the Food is Excellent it never changes BEST CHINESE ever Good wine good food and nice calming friendly atmosphere. Definitely coming back .

In many years of patronising Chinese restaurants in virtually every part of the UK, I cannot recall one worse than this.

We reserved a table for 6pm and when we arrived the only table available was in the window,which was great, but the first question the waitress asked was how long we were staying as they had customers arriving at 8:30! Not a great start. Drinks are expensive with a bottle of wine over £16 and although We ordered pints of cider We just got 330ml bottles. We ordered prawn meat wanton soup. The soup was delicious but I am not sure if was just prawn in the dumplings as they were quite chewy. We shared a table with friends and as is the custom, we waited for everyone to have their food served before starting to eat, but it took too long so we had to start. Our main courses were king prawn chow mien and Thai green chicken curry, which was on the specials board. We asked for fried rice but it came together in one bowl with our friends' rice, which was ok but it should have been separate as it was ordered separately. The Thai curry was disappointing as it was just like a Chinese curry with the addition of green chillies. No coconut milk or coriander and the only veg was a few onions. The king prawn show mein was very good, served hot with ample prawns. The waitress was cold, almost surly throughout, no smiles even though we spent £100 at our table. Ladies loo had a pool of water on the floor.

Probably one of the best Chinese meals I’ve had. Service was excellent, portion sizes were perfect and all food was freshly cooked.

I recently attended an Elvis contest in Bridlington Spa and as Yipes is across the road from the Spa I decided to book a table for two on Friday night. The place was already three quarters full upon our arrival. A young server showed us to our table and promptly took our drinks order. The menu was extensive so we selected a set menu that sounded great. The food came out quickly, it was hot and tasty and plenty of it. A very large party came in making it difficult to hear each other, but this didn't detract from good food and company.

This has to be the best Chinese restraunt I have ever visited it was exquisite .service first class. The starters,and mains We had cooked to perfection. will be visiting again soon.

Really nice place for a Chinese perfectly located just next to the Bridlington Spa. We came in here after a show and were really impressed. Service is friendly. Highly recommend.

After reading other reviews we bought a takeaway Chinese banquet from Yips while visiting Bridlington. It turned out to be a real treat with a wide variety of dishes all beautifully cooked and very tasty.

My friend and I got a takeaway from here in early June, the decision was based on the other reviews we saw here.

If you like Chinese food, this restaurant is the place to go. Clean comfortable, superb food, very nicely cooked and presented. We'll definitely return here. We had a set meal for four, giving a good selection of foods, tastes, textures. A very pleasant and enjoyable evening meal.

My mum, 6 year old son and I visited the restaurant this week before a trip to a show across the road at Brid Spa. My mum has been a regular customer for many years, and we were all looking forward to a lovely lunch together. What a mistake!

We ordered, from here for a takeout thinking it would be like any other takeout place, but boy were we wrong. The food was just amazing, cooked so well compliments go to the chef. So much flavour the staff were very friendly. Just completely blown away by this place, will definitely come back, when we are in town.

We have visited Yips a number of times when we are in the area. Service is always friendly, however we find the meals to be either brilliant or very greasy and unpleasant. Unfortunately our latest visit was not so great, but will return and try again.

Though to be fair there isn't much competition. Very nice food and friendly staff. gets very busy,tables sometimes hard to get and we've had bad service on 1 occasion but they are the best in town.

Tried this restaurant whilst having a weekend away to Bridlington. It was a stormy night but walked along to find it, navigating using Google maps. We went inside and asked for a table for 2 and they ushered upstairs. Lovely polite staff took our order. Lots of choice. We had a set menu. We didn't have to wait long for the delicious food. Hot and tasty. Just what we needed after travelling and battling the storm. Good prices. Clean. Really enjoyed it. Would go again.

Booked last minute but not a problem, very welcoming, excellent service and wonderful food. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
