Food served on small cold plates. Meal started with a salad which was very plain served with dried pitta bread. Very small quantity served for main dishes. 2 tiny portions of cheese cake. Was not worth the money.

Visited Yiannis for the first time in a couple of years, Still great food, service has improved and always a pleasure to see Yiannis himself come and ask how our meal was after he finished his shift in the kitchen. Only downfall was a particularly vile customer sat on the table next to us, An older man who was getting above himself, swearing at staff and generally being a nuisance,It came to a climax as he left, focusing his attention on the young waitress to the point of making her cry, What a big man.The waitress in question had done an excellent job while we were there. We'll be back, love the place,I hear the breakfast is good.

Having spent my Birthday at Yianni's two years ago I decided to go again this year.It started reasonably well, albeit with slow service. Noticed the waiting staff had changed. Starters arrived, although an additional starter we had ordered to accompany our Yianni's sharing platters did not arrive and we had to ask for it.We were a party of eight and eventually the main courses started to arrive, two were cold, five arrived almost at the same time and another two quite a while after, leaving only my daughter's faince's meal to arrive. We waited....and waited, then asked twice, still no meal. It appears the waitress did not write down his order - would have thought it would be simple enough to count that you had written down eight main course orders....apparently not. By the time his meal arrived, we had all finished ours. Yianni himself came to speak to us, offering us a bottle of wine, but we already had enough wine on the table. I explained it was my Birthday and this had really upset me, he didn't seem to care at all. We then had to wait an age for the bill, as the waiting staff were ignoring us. They had deducted only the missing meal, no gesture of offering free desserts or removing the price of a bottle of wine. We paid (in cash as their card machine 'isn't working) and left. The quality of the food has greatly deteriorated. The 'smoking area' is right next to the 'shed' seating area at the back, where we were eating - we had to close the window due to inconsiderate diners using this whilst we were eating. What appeared 'rustic' at our first visit now seems plain shabby - ironic as they have just re-opened after 'refurbishment'. Doesn't look any different to me! The toilet area could do with updating.Shall not be returning.

I first visited Yiannis nearly ten years ago and experienced one of the finest Greek meals I'd had outside of Hellas, but many years later I returned and found it to have nose dived to an average depth. However, with friends visiting for the weekend, we decided to stay local and give it another go and I'm extremely pleased that we did as we enjoyed a top drawer dining experience, where Yiannis was truly back to its finest. The staff sat us immediately and were perfect in their attention towards our table. Never overbearing, yet they always ghosted in and were on hand should you have needed them. Our party of 3 opted for the meat mezze, which consisted of 4 delicious courses and delivered in a timely, yet comfortable, fashion; meaning you weren't overburdened with food, but were never left too long waiting for the next plate to arrive. For the four course mezze and accompanying drink, you'd be looking at spending in the region of £30, which I was more than happy to pay and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.Throughout the restaurant, the taverna theme is done fantastically and I believe this has improved in the relatively recent refurbishment of the restaurant. One piece of advice that I would give, especially over a weekend, you will need to book, so plan ahead! This was our third bid to get in recently, as they were fully booked on our previous two attempts.

Greeted by polite friendly staff we were really looking forward to our take away. However when we got it home we found half of our order to be missing, the kebab we had ordered was all over the bottom of the carrier bag and they'd just given us lots of cold chips that we hadn't ordered (and weren't even on the menu!!) Still charged the full price for everything and yet 3 of the dishes we had ordered weren't there! The food we did get was stone cold and mediocre. I phoned up to tell them and all they said was sorry! Not good enough. Will not be returning and might I recommend you don't bother either!

Went for Xmas lunch with work and first of all the place was freezing cold and there were only us in! Secondly the menu they were offering for £14.90 for 2 courses was the same as the menu offered in line for £10.90! So, they were charging £4 extra for the priviledge of calling it an Xmas lunch. We even had to get our own crackers from another table. When the food came, the starter (i had meatballs) were not very warm and the main course, although tasty, was served on a very cold plate so, bearing in mind the restaurant was cold anyway, the food went cold very quickly, especially the sauce. there is no excuse for the temperature of the restaurant or the serving on cold plates. Also, I really resent paying an extra £4 for no reason - the meal was certainly NOT value for money. I will not be going to this restaurant again.

We ordered our food after around 25mins of being seated and 30mins later we were told three of the mains were unavailable and had to be changed. Why they didn't tell us initially I'm not sure. The food itself was very nice when it came, and the ambience was good as was the company. The prices were slightly over priced for some of the mains. Overall a nice little Greek restaurant. Better than the beeston one for me but smaller inside.

Called to book a table and was advised we would get gourmet society discount. When paying for the meal we were told they no longer did this despite us checking before we booked the table. I have since rang to see if they do gourmet society discount and have been told they do. Why lie? Food on previous visits has been good but not on this occasion. We were regular customers, we would have gone back. Since this experience and the owners refusal to take responsibility and blaming of staff we will never go back. On that visit they may have made more money but in the long run have lost out in our business. Not impressed. I've advised family and friends of our experience. Needless to say, they won't be dining at Yianni'sThis was January '13 but I rang re: discount more recently.

Have been here many times before including our 40th wedding anniversary with all our family and all I can say is severely disappointed. A greek place with no Ouzo the staff said they would go next door but we knew this was not going to happen, but they did not come to tell us. Mussels in Ouso sauce as starters were fantastic, as always. Kleftiko, usually the best was dry, the lamb was overcooked and no moisture in it. I spoke to Yannis the day after and he asked me why I did not complain at the time. I was with my family and if I had complained it would have meant I was not eating with everyone else. The back area was so cramped that when you wanted the loo you had to sidle sideways to get between the tables. VERY VERY disappointed, noisy no atmosphere and the food has definitely gone down in quality. Expensive as well four of us, O K we had dips and wine as well as starters and main course, £157.00,

Have visited here 3 times now and whilst I must say that the food itself is very very good indeed, the prices are really quite high ( drinks ditto), the venue is cramped and once 3 or 4 tables are occupied it is noisy. £130 for 4 people with only one drink is, to me, a lot.On the recent visit, the waiter would not leave us alone, continually "checking" things were OK when it had been made clear that they were. On leaving he directly asked us to place a Tripadvisor review - I really do not like that at all, and as a result we will not visit again on principle.

The food's arrival on the table was always well timed, and the Mezze was never ending with each mouthwatering dish leaving you wanting just a little bite more. But above all, super service, so friendly and welcoming. Veggie option, important and well provided! Plus...birthday surprise, cake and ouzo......yum. omg we are sooooo full up, plenty of food, decent portions.,ps the waiters were very professional and fun, which adds to a great night out.

Yianni's is a complete gem of a restaurant and offers authentic Greek food: grilled meat, vegetables, feta, ouzo. It's indulgent without being too rich. You feel as if you could be in a taverna abroad, you're only missing the sea. The kebabs are popular but I often choose a special and it's always fantastic. Favourite dishes: the lemonata chicken, the sardines, the courgette fritters and in colder weather, the stifado. If you've got room for dessert, the baklava is lovely. It's one of those neighbourhood restaurants people take to their hearts because of its generous portions, great value and unfailingly friendly service. It often caters for groups of 4-6 but it never feels rowdy, just lively. Go, it's great.

We went in on a Friday night and had a lovely meal ordered solely from the extensive starters menu, it was more than enough! I went for the delicious baklava dessert with ice cream afterwards, and again a super generous portion, lovely! I dined here with my friend for a double Birthday celebration on Wednesday. We had one of the best meals ever. It is outstanding as a Greek restaurant but also as a restaurant in Nottingham - one of the best. You always get a great meal. Lots of choice, delicious food and the service is second to none. I love it here. Very atmospheric. Thank you for the surprise Birthday cake and the Birthday drinks. We had a really great night and special thanks to the waiters who were brilliant - Z and P. I'm so sorry I can't remember your names in full but you know who you are. Excellent. And thank you Yianni for letting us share your wonderful food in your wonderful restaurant. A taste of Greece!

What a surprise, Lovely atmosphere, busy inside and on the outside covered terrace. Excellent service, very clean traditional Greek food, we had the Yiannis Mezze for four people, some of our group did not eat mussels so they swapped that dish for amazing chicken skewers. Every dish was excellent including the dessert selection. I would eat here again, it does feel like your on holiday!

I've been living in Beeston for 2 years and a half, going on occasions to restaurants in Nottingham city center and Beeston, and Yiannis is definitely the best I have tried here!We took the fisjh mezze and it was DE-LI-CIOUS: all the fishes and seafood were very finely cooked, and the special creamy yoghurt they serve instead of ice-cream with baklava etc for dessert is amazing!Definitely recommend it. The only downs-side is that the service is a bit chaotic, at least on a busy Saturday night, but that's way compensated by the kindness of the staff and the quality of food.

We have regularly eaten at Yiannis and have never had a bad experience. The Restaurant From the outside you would perhaps pass this place by. Squeezed into a little terrace in a row of small shops on Haydn Road doesn't seem like the go-to place for a quality night out in Nottingham, however you really would be missing out if you drove past. The atmosphere is great, tables packed close together only adds to the atmosphere. It's really nice in the back conservatory, especially when the weather is good enough for them to take all the windows out - you could well be on a roof terrace in Lindos. (Book to avoid disappointment)The staff can never do enough for you and make a point on ensuring that the food/service is adequate for you. This is the same if its just the two of you, or you're in a party of 10...Food QualityI have eaten at other Greek restaurants in Nottingham and not one of them offers the quality of food you will get here. In fact I challenge you to find a nicer Greek restaurant outside of the Greek Islands. Portion sizesIf you like a lot of food. Order a lot of food! The portion sizes are more than adequate for a filling meal. I tend to eat more than I should, as a rule, but I have never come away hungry. If all else fails fill up on pitta bread! Stop complaining!ValueI agree it's not the cheapest place to eat, but it is fairly priced for the quality of the food. If you want cheap food, go to nandos!

I have just come home from eating at Yiannis on Haydn Road. A number of people recommended the restaurant to us and as it is only around the corner decided to give it a go. The service is fantastic, very quick and efficient. It seemed that they really wanted to make sure you were happy with your food and the experience as a whole. The atmosphere was nice - it seemed very traditional and makes a nice change from chain restaurants. We chose a nice wine - reasonably priced and from Greece. We has the grilled halloumi between us to start - this was very tasty and a good size even for sharing. For the main course I had a chicken dish and my husband a kebab dish. The quantity of food was amazing. You certainly will not be going home hungry! The food is presented separately which I really liked - it meant that I could choose how much and where to put my side dishes. We ate so much I could not fit in a desert but the choice was good. I would certainly recommend this place and will most definitely be visiting there again soon. Price wise - a little more pricey than a typical chain place but well well worth it.

My daughter and son-in-law held their wedding reception here. It was a tight squeeze with about 40 people, but the staff coped admirably. There was no sense of production-line food preparation. Although what we chose was from a limited fish or vegetarian menu, the same dishes appeared individually prepared with varying cuts and shapes of fish. It was cooked perfectly and quite delicious. Even the Greek red and white wines were very pallatable. Overall everyone was very pleased to eat there. It was an original and unusual choice for a wedding reception, but it worked very well. I think the fact that it is a family run restaurant made a difference - it was a bespoke offering, not a mass-market wedding package offering.

While the food was fair the service was poor by being too obtrusive. One waiter in particular who we have come across at another local restaurant 'Amores' was removing plates from the table from members of the party who had finished while others were still eating. This marred our dining experience and made us feel as though they were in a hurry to get rid of us.

This is our local restaurant and therefore I would hate to be critical but this is the 2nd time sincw christnas we have eaten there and received food that was poor and very late. It has also become very expensive (over £4 for a bowl of olives). We waited over 30 minutes for our wine to arrive and a starter of half a pitta and some aubergine dip (priced at around £5) and then a further hour for a main course. My auberine imambaldi which I have eaten before and enjoyed was accompanied by a tiny piece of halloumi and tiotally falvourless. My partners moussaka had raw veg on the top and was tepid. The restuarnat was also intermittently full of kitchen smoke which made it quite difficult to breathe on occassions. The head waitress was helpful and very apologetic but in the end we left without eating our mains after 1.5 hours. I am not sure what is going on here but I will not be going back (we had eaten here often for the last 7 years but there is a sense of chaos coupled with being ripped- off: not a good feeling).

It's a good job this wasn't a special occasion visit. A table for two was booked at Yiannis in Beeston, to which we were seated immediately. Unfortunately they required the table back by a certain time, but this was fine by us...however, when the starter arrived faster than the speed of light it became clear they wanted us gone quickly. The table itself was rather intrusively neighbouring another for four; we were thankful it was empty for our stay or we might have received the impression it was a speed dating establishment rather than a restaurant. Upon the arrival of the mains, we noted that the lamb kleftiko had to be dug for by peeling back layers of foil...was the chef lazy or just concerned for the sustainability of heat on it's journey from oven to table? Either way, the presentation was less than favoured. Both portion sizes were on the small side and did not reflect their value well. There were hints towards digression from Greek authenticity in both meals: the moussaka sat upon a stream of tomato (salsa?) sauce whilst peas were integrated into the kleftiko - I wasn't aware Spanish and English cuisines were also to be expected. Dessert, however, was tasty. The service we received might have saved the day were it amiable, but was in fact the icing on an already sour cake. Our main waiter delivered no communication, grunted at us, wore a face like a bee-stung pitbull and couldn't even face us directly when it came to payment. But friendly conversation with adjacent customers was no object, we noticed. He was also quick to present a Specials board to other tables; we had no idea this existed. Strangely, every other member of staff was lovely. Perhaps it was the fact that the two of us fell into a rather young age group (18-25)? Were we not expected to be familiar with proper restaurant decorum? Whatever the reason, we felt singled out, hungry upon departure and even somewhat judged. So here is our judgement of Yiannis.

We visited the Beeston Yannis early on a Wednesday evening. The best thing about the whole experience was the food. Authentic and tasty cuisine. However, the service was average and we were seated in the window and felt as though wwe were on show for all to see. A table of ten were booked in next to us and by the time we left we couldn't hear ourselves talk. I love Greek food, but I certainly won't be going back there. The overall experience is important to me and I left diappointed and frankly could have spent my hard-earned money somewhere else as the food and wine were certainly not cheap.

As returning customers, we booked Yiannis in Sherwood with friends, for a special occasion meal and decided on the Fish Mezze for 2. This cost £47. For this we each got: a small portion of dips, 1 small vine leaf, no aubergine salad, ½ a small salad, 2 mussels, 3 calamari rings, 2 prawns, ½ a salmon slice, ½ a small cold sardine fillet (absolutely unbelievable- we had to cut a sardine in half )!! , ½ a small fish fillet (again we had to cut it in half), no rice, lentils or vegetables, small of squares dessert,No question that the food was fresh and tasted nice, but this is an absolute rip-off at £23.50 each. Our friends has the meat mezze and were similarly outraged when presented with dry meat kebabs with no sauces and a basket of McDonalds-type fries. We left hungry and disappointed and will not return.

We went on Weds night o the Beeston Yannis, the place was quite busy, which is a good sign, though we surround by people from all sides , although there were empty tables. The restaurant itself is pleasant and service was fine, but the food quality!!!! I ordered Lamb in vine leaves with potatoes. The portion was very small, no vegs at all, just 8 pieces of potato wedges for the price of 14.50 . My friends ordered the same, we all had the same exclamation : is this all? Another friend ordered kebab with fries and salad, but was at least satisfying . The quality was also average, most probably not freshly cooked and hitted in the microwave. Didn't get the feeling of Greece, but wanted so much :( such a shame. Desserts were fine, but also not cheap. I don't think we come here again.

We went to Yannis Beeston last night, for a special occasion. We loved the food, the lamb augolemono was really suberb, it could not have been cooked better. Everyone who had the steak also loved it, the accompanying vegetables and the potatoes were melting in your mouth. If you want a restaurant that offers fresh, home made food with a Greek twist then this is the place to visit. We have been to the Sherwood restaurant many times as well, the only difference is that the second place resembles a traditional Greek tavern more, whereas the Beeston restaurant is meant to acommodate a broader range of tastes in decoration. I regularly visit Nottingham on business and look for somewhere to eat. A colleague highly recommended Yiannis. I went and arrived at 6.00 pm on a cold icy night in mid January and was welcomed by one of the chefs who due to the weather was initially on his own. Rapidly other diners arrived and as my colleague had said not only were the staff friendly and efficient, but the diners were all pleasant and happy to chat. The specials on the night included the best scallop dish I have had anywhere. Perfectly cooked and excellent presentation. The lamb shanks were good and rustic. The house wines were fine and the price seemed appropriate. The ambiance is a little dated but at least the music was not intrusive. I will certainly go again.

I tried this restaurant out with a group of friends and from the start it went down hill. We were crammed in the back room with another large party and i think they were over ambitious with how many people they could accommodate for. The waiters / waitresses could barely get through to serve you and rather annoyingly banged your chair constantly. The food was of average standard, halloumi for starter was rubbery and could barely cut it, my main meal of mixed kebab was cold and not very appetizing, creme brulee for pudding was the consistency of a bowl of custard. I did send my pudding back and was told that it was the "Greek way". I was offered an alternative and was told that my choice had sold out so basically had to go without. I think i will give this restaurant a miss in the future.
