Yi Ban in Hillingdon

Great steak in black bean sauce and char siu pork. Ordered the spicy scallops this time to try. Scallops were nice but sauce was a bit sweet. We always order from Yi Ban and never disappointed.

We ordered out NYE takeaway early this year as didn’t want to risk any delays (one year we waited 5 hours for a delivery not from Yi Ban), so we ordered at 5.30 and food arrived half an hour later for us to heat up when hungry. As always, Yi Ban food is very good, not one of these Chinese takeaways where everything is beige and the same colour! We always enjoy our takeaways when they are from Yi Ban.

I have mix review on food. Non veg was prepared well. However pat thai was bad, bitter after taste and it seems cooked in stale oil. Had to throw both packs. Not a good dinner experience this time.

Yi Ban is located on the north end of Field End Road just over a quarter of a mile on foot from Eastcote station near the library. We have eaten here several times in recent months and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I usually opt for the ‘Adventurer’ menu which is the ‘eat as much as you can’ choice. We generally have a range of starters and soups, followed by crispy duck. If we are not totally full with these, then we might have some main course dishes. My favourite starter is the deep fried spicy French beans which are delicious. The prawns and duck are invariably good too. There is a decent wine choice. Last time, I had a most pleasant bottle of Gewurtztraminer. The hot sake is great as well. The Adventurer menu is £28.80 per person on Friday and Saturday. It is a little cheaper the rest of the week including Sunday. You can usually get a table without booking on a Sunday ; on Friday and Saturday, booking is essential. Service is generally good although it can be slow at busy times.

Unfortunately, they got only 80 per cent of the order correct. Given that we waited 40 minutes, we couldn't be bothered to call back

Everything was pretty decent but was disappointed by the chips

I am really disappointed with the delivery. We had to wait over an hour for our food and when I called the restaurant the first time to check when the food was being delivered they told me the driver just left and would be with us in 5 mins. After 10 mins had passed we still didn't get the food and when I called the restaurant again they said the food was delivered to us. But it wasn't l, they called the driver and realised he delivered to the wrong address. We then had to wait another 20mins for them to bring our food.

Food has not arrived. No answer from the restaurant after calling multiple times

Food received on Sunday (chicken and rice) was of lower quality than usual- disappointing and hopefully will improve again.

Good quality Chinese compared to many others locally. Good choice of food and very tasty. King prawns with ginger and spring onion particularly good.

The food was very bland and undercooked. We usually order from here all the time but very underwhelmed.

For restaurant: veg tempura very greasy and felt ‘refried’, crab on not the best and noodle satisfactory. Timing /delivery fine.

Food was 3 mins earlier than expected which was great as we were very hungry! Food was excellent, good portion sizes, the duck was amazing, the mapo tofu my friend had was nice but sweeter than mapo I've had in the past. "Spicy" wasn't really very spicy however but what one could expect for England level spicy. Aside from that a very nice meal, thought it would be too much but it was so good we ate it all. Would certainly order again!

Order was delivered 10mins earlier than start of the 20min slot. Food was hot and very tasty. Lovely food, have eaten in the restaurant but never ordered takeaway fire. Food was up to the same great standard. Definitely recommend👍🏼

We were looking forward to trying the food from Yi Ban - we ordered three dishes for takeaway on Just Eat (braised bean curd with mixed veg, sweet and sour chicken, and duck with plum sauce). Unfortunately the estimated delivery time came and went, so we called up the restaurant to chase up and was told the food was delivered nearly an hour ago. We checked outside and with neighbours but nothing was delivered. The person I spoke with on the phone was very nice and prioritised making the food again. When we finally got the food at 20.40 one of the items was wrong. Instead of sweet and sour chicken, we got chicken balls with sweet and sour dip. The bean curd and mixed veg had more bamboo shoots and tinned mushrooms than anything else. The food wasn't very good.

No food delivered and on this experience never again!

Very good and tasty food. Duck in orange sauce not over powering and chicken was not over cooked, yellow bean sauce was subtle . Will order again.

Although the food arrived in good time, our mains Thai Penang Chicken and Beef Pad Kra Proa tasted rubbery and had an unpleasant texture. The dumplings were dry and overcooked. Not a very enjoyable meal.

The food was hot but for 12.90 I expected the starters for 2 be at least tasty and good portions .The whole meal was extremely greasy and and sickening.Sorry but I won’t be ordering again.

This was a first visit this restaurant for all four of us. The welcome was friendly, the interior of the premises smart and clean, with tablecloths. Food was delicious, served hot and fresh, and the service efficient but not pressured. They have a varied and interesting menu. Will definitely come again.

Tried to cancel a wrong order 1min from placing the order and was charged the full amount and order got cancelled

Stingy with the duck sides (Cucumber/onions) and duck sauce given we ordered two portions only got quantities enough for one portion. A very long wait for our order. Food wasn't hot. Experience may have been better otherwise if above was better and was not so late. Apparently read the address wrong!!

The quantity of food has significantly reduced over the years and the taste as well. The shredded chicken (our fav) was disappointing and literally was less than half of what we used to get quantity wise. Overall disappointed, the order was late… wasn’t warm enough.

The Thai green curry didn't have much flavour, was a little slimy. The pad Thai was so dry that it literally was stuck together like a brick and the chips were freezing cold. Very disappointing

I ordered a takeaway from the restaurant and received not very good Chinese food. The crispy duck wasn’t crispy, the free prawn crackers were rubbery and not crunchy in anyway and a few of the sauces were watery and lacking in taste. I would be hesitant about ordering from here again.

Lovely meal. Great service, great atmosphere and everything cooked fresh. Starters, soup, duck and mains all spot on.

The food was bland. Disappointed. The Singapore fried rice lacked salt and spice. We had to re spice it. The duck wasn’t that good. Quantity was ok but overall disappointing.

Can’t fault delivery and service but food was very bland and scallops were all gloopy sauce and veg. Was once my favourite place but will now have to try other places. Shame.

The noodles and spring rolls were lovely but the lemon chicken was quite dry, would have been nice to have a pot of lemon sauce to pour over the chicken or to have the chicken in lemon sauce when it arrived. We also had the satay which was very tasty but the chicken could have been cooked a little longer.

Great food. Disappointed with the price of the pancakes and hoisin sauce! Could reduce that! But food quality is great.

Food was a little early, but that wasn't a problem. What was a problem was that, in spite of your 'Contact-free delivery' notice and my request that the food be placed down then a knock and to step back, the delivery driver did none of it, handing the food to my partner directly, (and not wearing a mask). The food itself was the usual high standard, but the delivery this time around is an issue.

Good food. Great taste. Great service. Love this place. I wish you guys would introduce pancakes+cucumber+lettuce+hoisin sauce as a side on the menu. :)

It’s the only Chinese place we will order takeaway from. Have tried a few other local takeaways in the area but are not even close in comparison. Food is tasty and fresh.

Although the delivery was later than expected, it was well worth waiting for. It was a Saturday night so they were hopefully very busy.

We have been ordering from Yi Ban (and dining out) for a long time now. Yesterday, I believe they gave their best customer service. They replaced our order when we had issues with the food (as it was cold when delivered). Fantastic service especially during these tough times and poor weather. Appreciate this much.

Haven’t ordered from here in a while, the food was not great and has been better in the past. Not sure I will use them again maybe the chef has changed it was not up to it’s usual standard.

Food and packaging was amazing, one of the best Chinese deliveries we've had! There could have been more egg in the egg fried rice however.

Disappointing today. I was charged £1.80 for lettuce and spring onions which last time I got for free since I paid for the extra pancakes. Only got 7 wings when should have got 8. Drinks on menu would be helpful as well. Food quality was ok. We’ve always enjoyed YiBan but today was disappointing. Might give it a break.

Finding a table in decent restaurants on Saturday evening without a booking can be difficult, but we were pleased that they were able to get a table. Having not eaten here before is always a gamble anywhere, but the venue was busy which was a good sign. It complied well with Covid guidelines. Sanitizer available and tables very well spaced out. The dim sum starters at £13.60 for 9 for 2 people to share was expensive and did not live up to high expectations. The rest of the food, however, was very good and the service was spot on.

Simply the best food in the area - a family favourite for years - awesome service and gorgeous food. This place really does hit the spot for an authentic oriental meal. Great for families and couple, a huge variety of options and the service here is wonderful - happy to come back anytime

Amazing food and easily best Chinese in area

Great food - the special fried rice and noodles have so much meat and prawns.

We usually order from here and the food is good. However on this occasion, it was terrible! Duck was very dry and chewy. The mixed fish start was awful and we had to throw most of it away. Such a shame as usually the food is lovely.

Great food, as usual. Delivery on time but did take 40 minutes so I was starving when arrived! It didn’t disappoint.

My favourite is the Magic Wok in the old High Street, Northwood, but it's currently closed. Yi Ban wasn't at all bad. The Special Fried Noodles had not been crisp as I had expected which was disappointing. The Char Siu pork was passable. I would order it again but I suppose I should not have thought it might be like I get in China Town London, or in Hong Kong. Chicken with cashew nuts was quite good. My only gripe. Too much soy sauce being used.

Order was incomplete. Restaurant didn’t answer the call and also didn’t respond to the voice messages.

Ordered for the first time as our normal place is closed (COVID). Really fresh flavours and nice and spicy! We had the Thai sweet & sour chicken (just perfect) and the chicken pad Thai. A little salty for me, but I’ll get over it :)

My first time at Yi Ban — ordered and paid online. I was impressed that they phoned very quickly to say they were out of Choy Sum, so I opted for Pak Choi as a substitute. The delivery was supposed to be an hour later but was early by 30 minutes, so I hadn’t yet made my rice. However, the food kept warm in its containers in the oven while I cooked basmati rice. Everything pretty good, and the mini veg spring rolls were nice and crispy, not too greasy. Will definitely order again while in self-isolation.

Great taste as always. Ordered the three glass chicken for the first time. Had more garlic than chicken! But tasted good. Shredded chicken was fantastic.
