Absolutely fantastic food,brilliant service by brilliant young friendly staff,great value, definitely worth a visit.

I recently had the pleasure of dining here and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm and friendly customer service, which set the tone for the rest of the meal. The meal itself was simply lovely - every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. Back again today. Even better. Customer service and food are top notch.

A great place to stop for lunch in the Ring of Gullion. Lunch serviced beside a opened fire. Friendly service at a reasonable price.

Really good place for food. Fire lit and fairy lights inside add something extra. I had the chicken curry which was full with chicken and vegetables. Wouldn’t say it’s spicy. My partner had the pulled pork fritters and lamb two ways which he enjoyed. We had the Baked Alaska and sticky toffee pudding deserts were amazing. Big desert portions!

Went to the yellow heifer at 3.30 in the afternoon for lunch . This was a family Christmas reunion. If I was to go in to details of the things that was wrong I would be writing for an hour . Basically the food was not good at all everyone chips were reheated steaks were all dry and some was overcooked . To pay almost £600 for the group and to be handed food of that standard is not good . But when this happens to me I just say vote with your feet and never ever go back ! ! But obviously they can afford to list this happen

Absolutely brilliant, booked last minute after a day shopping and the staff were fantastic. Service was great and the food was even better . Was the best scampi I’ve ever had , my wife and mother were also delighted with what they had ordered. Will definitely be back. Thank you 5 stars .

Staff were pleasant but obviously untrained. Seems more like a local customer based, we were strangers & felt like it. Unwelcoming & even though there were many free tables we were put beside a door, maybe a door to the toilets, I think, which people kept using. Food was mediocre & that’s being kind. Very overpriced. Won’t be back.

Visited on a busy Sunday evening. We had excellent food and the service was fantastic. We had the goats cheese flatbread a heifer burger and the roast beef. All of the food was beautifully presented and tasty. We have visited many times.

I have heard other people talking about this place with great reviews. I have to admit I was so well pleased. The food was great. I had fillet mignon and cubed garlic potatoes. My husband had soup cod and prawns. We shared a baked Alastair. All was beautiful. Service was lovely and warm old fashioned. It was my first visit but definitely I will be back. 1st class. Highly recommended.

Always good food and if you allow staff time as their are buzy you will find this place is a gem Old style surroundings with steak a speciality .We weren't rushed through the meal .I enjoyed it thoroughly

Went there for Sunday lunch. In summary, below average and completely overpriced. My sister had the butchers cut which was bland and tough. The sides of veg were so overcooked they were just mush. I asked for more and was presented with another bowl of mushed watery veg. Save your money for fish and chips or local takeaway. Better value!

Hidden Gem!! By far the nicest place I have been for dinner, such friendly staff and a brilliant atmosphere just such a beautiful restaurant. The food is to die for!! And the steak Is just next level😍😍 and might I add so are the cocktails, highly recommend… you’ll not regret!!

Best food in a long time, we both ordered sea food chowder in main size portions. They were huge! On the side was the nicest Guinness wheaten bread I’ve ever tasted. We also ordered a side of skinny fries and mushrooms! Honestly I’d eat it all again now. The staff couldn’t have been any friendlier. Even catering for two drunk girls and having a bit of craic. Will defo be back

We booked a table at the Yellow Heifer during Christmas and New Year. The service was great and food was good too. Family members had the chicken and beef burgers and I went for the sirloin steak, my steak was a little over cooked but this didn't spoil the dinner. Would certainly go back and I do recommend this restaurant (but remember to book!).

We rang very last minute on a busy Sunday eve, they fitted us in not a problem and didn’t rush us to give the table back which in itself is 5 stars. We had cocktails before been seated they were gorgeous! The menu was full of taste and we struggled to pick from so much! For starters I had beef pancakes and my partner had spring rolls the presentation the style and food was amazing! Main course I had the sirloin (medium) it was possibly one of the best steaks I’ve had and was cooked to perfection! My partner had the stir fry and it was amazing too! Plenty in the portion also! The service was fantastic they were attentive and service with a smile. Will be back sooner rather than later!

Unbelievable - one of the best restaurants I have ever ate in in Ireland. Me and my partner both could have ordered everything on the menu it’s so extensive. The service, setting, ambience and food are top class. Well worth stopping off along the M1. Will be returning again 5 stars

One of the best meals I've had in ages! I first went to The Yellow Heifer 8+ years ago and it was great. I recently decided to go again and it is still amazing. The decor is really cute and quirky inside and the food is unreal. I had the prawns to start, turkey and ham dinner for main and salted caramel creme brulee - all was amazing. Service was brilliant too, I'll be back again!

Just in the area looking something to eat , seen the reviews and rang. They fitted us in even though they were busy on a Thursday night. Lovely unusual decor inside. Warm & cosy. What a lovely place the new outdoor area is amazing class swing seats tables look like 4 poster beds with white flowers around them while the pizza oven flames away in front of you then inside is laid out with all your nice neatly laid tables menu is great food is beautiful staff are friendly and helpful and ya can't beat the pints overall 5 stars.

I found this little restaurant on a cold and rainy night on my way home from shopping in Newry. What a find! The dining room is cozy and the service was prompt. I ordered the seafood chowder and the goat-cheese-and-beet appetizer. Being from Boston, I'm a connoisseur of chowder -- and, honestly, this one took first prize. Loaded with seafood, it came with the most amazing dark wheaten bread made with treacle and Guinness. The goat-cheese and beet dish was delicious. Located in a tiny village well off the beaten path, this restaurant is well worth the detour!

Just home from our very first meal at YH. We’re told at arrival that our COVID vaccines would be checked once seated. THEY WERE NOT!! Ordered main courses but told that kitchen was busy so Inga suggested that we may wish to consider a shared starter. Appreciated her honesty and we were really easy on time so we were happy with her suggestion. Had (lovely) starter but 1 hour later still no main course. Then Inga (so attentive) offered us drinks on the house for our inconvenience. Main course… 2 fillet steaks + 2 kids meals. Before Inga left our table she asked us to check our steaks to see that they were cooked to our specifications. In all my years of ordering steaks, I have NEVER been asked that. Great question cause mine needed 2 mins more cooking. Food was fabulous. Worth the wait. To the owners of this establishment… please, please appreciate Inga. She is your best asset. We had such a great meal, albeit late, but no worries. We have booked again for next Sunday. Hope Inga is looking after us xx

Food is fabulous and ambiance is a treat. There's so much thoughtfulness in the decor that it's no surprise that the food overachieves. Chef Ann Crawley deserves the credit and applauds she and her hardworking mostly female brigade get, I was very impressed. Excellent small collection of craft beer, middling range of wines. Excellent service. In relaxed atmosphere. Food exceptional. And good value. We had a variety of starters and mains. The steaks and fish dishes were all very good. Chicken wings excellent and a lovely touch was the little bowl of hot water at the table. There was a welcoming fire and the friendly staff ensured it was well lit. The environment was good.Great photos and olde world artifacts However we were slightly disappointed in the food. I took the fish stew. It had plenty of fish etc. but i thoughy the sauice was weak. The others took the fish and cjhips and said the schips were not fully cooked.

Went for birthday dinner on Sunday evening - our 3rd time trying to get a table here. The service was fantastic, only denied a 5* by not getting our final drinks order. Staff were so professional. excellent surroundings, and the food was the best Ive ever tasted, and great portions. Home made nachos, home made baked alaska were the best. The prawns in the Beef & Reef were delicious. 10 choices for dessert and I wanted 7 of them....so we resolved to return and very soon - if we can get a table. Don't miss this gem of a place.

We recently visited the yellow heifer for food one friday evening, no reservation made and they were able to seat us straight away. I ordered the cocktail special which was gorgeous. We shared the crab starter which was so nice and then both ordered a special. This consisted of Fillet steal, cod piece, chorizo and prawn salad, marie rose sauce on the side and a sauce for the steak, also came with a side. The food was excellent and the staff are brilliant too. Cant wait for the next visit.

This restaurant is really trying to accommodate coeliac patrons. They have an extensive gluten free menu and I've tried a number of the dishes and was very pleased with them.

Not a fan of the yellow heifer, I think it is very over rated. You have to pay for everything separately which is annoying, pay for main, then pay for sides then pay for sauce. I hate places like that, pure rip off. The food isn't that great for those prices, I've been about 3 times with family and every time at least a couple of us had food that wasn't nice. Wont be back.

We had a really lovely lunch here on Easter Monday. The food was really delicious and the service was fantastic. The waitress who looked after us had such a friendly, chatty manner that's missing in so many other places. The healthy warm chicken was fantastic and the greedy coffee undid all that healthiness- perfect!

The Yellow Heifer is located in the centre of the lively village of Camlough just outside Newry.

This is one of my favourite restaurants. The food never disappoints. We started by sharing the goats cheese which was so good and then we had the lamb and the beef. All dishes cooked to perfection. For desert I had the baked Alaska and I can honestly say it was one of the best deserts I have ever had. Open fire beside us, this was a very enjoyable meal. I would recommend the Yellow Heifer. Worth the trip wherever you are coming from.

Been here a few times and it's the best place I can think of where I've been, there's always a wow factor with each dish I've tried and the staff are great very helpful with a (spirited child) the place looks great, spotless and lots of little touches here and there add to the ambiance, if you like your food and are sick of house chicken specials and ceaser salads then try this place, looking forward to returning, keep up the good work, and a word to the chefs thanks

We had a delightful meal on St Patricks Day with friends. The service was excellent and food was delightful. A varied menu with some specials. The staff ere all wearing green which added to the evening.

Visited early on Saturday night and were seated right away, service was very good and the food was delicious. We ordered forkhill black pudding & cider and the fivemile town goats cheese, my husband was delighted with his dish and complimented on how the chief got the egg just perfect, my started was delicious and portion sizes were just right, for mains we had steak and the fish and chips, both meals were really lovely. Great wine selection and not overly priced, we didn't think the meal was overly expensive and will definitely go back.

Dubious to start with about visiting as a 5 year prior visit was very poor.need not have worried.the standard was exceptional,from the greeting to the seating to the eating......simply amazing..The staff were excellent.knowledgeable and very competent.service was swift and effortless.my food was superb.goats cheese tartlet,followed by the chicken skewers and baby ribs platter.well worth a visit for that little bit of class..
