When we visited last year I said it was the BEST TEAROOM EVER but somehow this time they have managed to be even better! The coffee is quite simply the best I have ever tasted. I am a coffee lover but in many places in the UK the coffee is either weak or bitter, This is definitely not the case here! the coffee is rich and aromatic, full flavoured & without a trace of bitterness. I had Americano with pouring cream and my husband a de-caff capuchino: both were 10/10: it is worth an 80 mile round trip to go there just for the coffee. BUT what can I say in praise of the afternoon tea?! HEAVEN on a plate! The scones are large, warm & fresh from the oven and utterly delicious: I had a fruit scone and my husband a cherry scone, both with clotted cream and jam (they also serve butter but the cream portion is so generous that we didn't need to use the butter). The jam is really good quality too. We hadn't eaten lunch so we were naughty and also had a toasted tea-cake which was also very delicious and served with generous portions of butter and jam. The owners and their staff are really welcoming and to crown it all it is a traditional black and white building located in a traditional black & white village. It is definitely the best tea-room we have ever visited. THANK YOU to everyone who works there for making it such a treat to visit. (Heather & Oak)

Stopped for lunch, wonderful building, very quirky, food was really tasty and well presented. Very busy cafe, even on a weekday it was packed, i would suggest booking to avoid disappointment. It isnt cheap but worth the extra few pounds.

The Cider Barn

26/12/2018: This is quite a difficult place to find at night - you have to go some way further on from the point at which Sat-Nav says you have arrived - but once there the old barn has a very nice ambience and a welcoming log fire on a winter night. The staff are pleasant and attentive and the quality of food is very good. The only issue we had was the number of choices of both starters and main-course was quite limited – it would especially be so for a vegetarian. We only had main courses – one venison loin and one beef fillet with cheek – both were delicious and the accompanying vegetables were well selected and presented. With one dessert and a bottle of wine the bill was £68 which was fine for the quality although probably on the high side compared to other eateries in this part of the county.
15/04/2019: Lunch at The cider Barn was a delight. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who told us what to expect as first time diners. We chose from the cafe menu and although advertised as 'small' plates the portions were perfect for lunch and quite adequate. We could have mixed and matched with the Carte menu too. Intending to eat a small lunch, we were so happy with the food that we had three courses and wine and relaxed in the lovely old barn for a couple of hours. Other diners also seemed relaxed and happy. Service was good and paced well. We have already recommended this venue to friends.

The Moody Cow

12/12/2018: It’s a long time since we have visited the moody cow, it used to be excellent, so we were unsure. We needn’t have worried the food and service was excellent as good as it ever was. Definitely be back and would recommend it. Very busy so book to be safe lovely meal thank you
16/02/2019: After a day in Ross we decided to visit the moody cow. We arrived and were seated on two high bar stools. Maybe it's my personal choice and maybe that's all the space they had left but I really dislike being high over a table. Anyway ordered starters which were hazelnut coated brie which was very nice but extremely expensive. Then with our main meal we were served frozen chips another personal dislike. Although it now says they serve hand cut chips so maybe things have changed. The pudding was not good I had to ask what I was eating not a good thing to have to do. So overall I would say our meal was adequate.
