Booked a table for Saturday lunch and from entering to leaving everything was 100% Service was very good Food was excellent just could not find fault with anything Will definitely be back Covid safe

Just wow...first visit definitely not the last even though we are only 2.5 miles away...beautiful pub...fantastic service and fantastic food..we opted for the the tapas night.the choice is excellent.I even opted for a dessert which is unlike me but this was also excellent

The food was excellent - good portion, service and quality. The gravy was excellent and plentiful. The restaurant had a good atmosphere which was very pleasant in these difficult times. The area we were seated was a little dark and could be brighter to see the menu and food. The menu had plenty of choices although was different to that displayed on their website.

We went to the tapas night and loved it, we could go off the main menu but stuck to the tapas. Plenty of choice and It was great, nice variety and plenty to eat. We added skinny fries and onion rings and was perfect. Nothing is too much trouble for Diane and her staff, and Covid adherence was very high and no problems.We will be back pretty soon!

I’m absolutely disappointed in the service we received at Red Lion for my birthday! We waited a good 15 minutes before we were even given menus to read. Then we waited an hour from finishing our starters until we received our Sunday lunch, and then waited nearly another hour before having to get someone to order puddings and to clear away the plates. We also was rudely disrespected by Di who, after complaining I had received the wrong drink, that I was the one who was wrong. I ordered a J20 Apple and mango and received another mango drink that I didn’t like. She proceeded to tell me that it was a J20 when I knew it wasn’t, as I have them all the time. She didn’t do anything to sort out this situation, so instead I had to order a different drink. We then had to go and find someone to get the bill for us and then still had to go up to sort it, as the bill we had been given didn’t add up. We had to retell Di what we had had, as we all wanted to pay separately, as they had no record what we had ordered, which then took ages! The food however was delicious and we could not fault it! We just wouldn’t come back again due to the atrocious service and rude staff! Such a shame she let them down!

Really nice food served by friendly staff. Felt very safe and covid precautions in place were fine. Slightly restricted menu choices but sure these will increase as people get out and about more and visit this lovely venue.

Just lovely! Inside is cosy & super! The beautiful Terraced area is perfect if you prefer to be Outside. Been twice this week! We literally did nothing for months.. You will feel safe/Covid. Smashing staff, relaxed throughout, & the food...Tapas are Properly good! Today/Sunday, the Roasts are legendary, but the alternatives are amazing too:-)X

We visited for Saturday lunch as an anniversary treat. What we experienced was faultless. The whole place is sharply focused on all Covid-19 guidelines. Non-touch sanitiser points at all doors, one-way system, limited numbers in toilet areas etc. No negatives here. The quality of the food and drink was excellent. The starters from the Lincolnshire tapas menu were very tasty indeed. Both seafood mains (moules mariniere and seafood linguini) were faultless. Compliments to the chef and his staff!While this is not the cheapest place to eat in the area (and doesn’t try to be) it is arguably one of the best we have visited. Keep doing what you’re doing. It is so refreshing to experience this quality in our local area.

Excellent meal, excellent service, out for my partners birthday, both had steak, fillet/sirloin, cooked to perfection.... And both chose dark chocolate panacotta dessert, it was to die for....never had a bad meal here, lovely friendly relaxed atmosphere..... Highly recommend.

Having been before we knew the food would be excellent as always but the service in these strange times was exceptional. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we walked in to when we left. I can't wait to visit again!

Thanks to all the staff at the red lion:) visited twice since opening again in July. Chose to sit outside as weather was good and feel safest in fresh air! Service was great Food was excellent, fantastic prawn cocktail with beautiful bread and garlic butter. Perfectly cooked steaks too. Well done on the hard work you are all putting in. Was a bit wary of visiting a restaurant in the current situation. However, I felt safe as there was plenty of space around and the staff were following safe practices. The food was excellent, all home cooked and delicious. Worth a visit.

Visited pub for dinner with friends. Excellent menu, really friendly staff, good value for money. Plenty of choices for vegetarians.

Never been before but heard good things. Service was great. We sat in the garden with the dog and enjoyed some nice Adnams ales in the sunshine. Can't wait to return soon and sample the food.

Visited the restaurant Wednesday for my wedding anniversary.Was wondering how it would be with the COVID-19 issues but the restaurant have managed this fantastically. 1 way arrows through with clear instructions. Tables and chairs cleaned promptly and staff taking extra care. Food was really great, we had the tapas, and was not disappointed. Cannot fault the food at this place, just perfect. Will definitely be returning soon. Also was greeted with an anniversary card from the staff which was a lovely touch x Tom.

A lovely welcome at the bar of this beautiful pub and spoiled for choice with the drinks on offer. Once we had been served our drinks we were asked if we would like to be seated at our table. The restaurant is very relaxing and we felt very comfortable throughout our evening.The menu is amazing and the food was served quickly and was beautifully presented. We all enjoyed all of the dishes we ordered and they were cooked to perfection. All of the staff were happy, helpful and very efficient all evening.We had such a wonderful time and have already booked a table for a large family gathering. So lucky to have such a wonderful pub and restaurant virtually on our doorstep.

A very warm welcome awaits you. The staff are the happiest I’ve ever known, they make you feel very welcome and want to serve you, rather than just want your custom. An extensive menu for all tastes, including a few specials, that are special and not just to pad out the menu..Food is great in a relaxing atmosphere. Perfect from the minute you arrive to the moment you leave.

I checked my previous review, and I haven’t been since June 2013, so decided it was high time I went again.Came here for Sunday lunch.Great choice of starters, carvery and puddings.Beef is served a little on the rare side, so be aware of that. It does help it to retain its flavour.My daughter and her friend went for a tapas evening and thoroughly loved it in November last year. After reading about this pub I'm the Lincolnshire Pride magazine we thought we would go and have lunch here.We arrived to a lovely friendly welcome from a gentleman with his dog. We were shown to a table and ordered our lunch. The place is lovely warm and clean. My lasagna was beautiful and very hot and my husband had venison tagliatelle and that was also delicious. We would definitely come back. A warm welcome from the owner ,a warm pub , good food and friendly staff. That's exactly how pubs should be run and some could learn lessons from this lovely establishment. 10/10.

Lovely English pub, nice and cosy. No rush for table back and staff very polite and know what they’re doing! Food is excellent and puddings are my favourite. Will definitely be returning.

Enjoyed a superb evening at this traditional English pub. The menu however, was anything but traditional and had some really interesting dishes. The choices we made were delicious and the service was to be commended. Look forward to repeating this experience in the near future to taste different dishes.

From booking the table for our family Christmas Day meal The Red Lion has been so helpful,nothing was a problem. We had a lovely table set up in an alcove and all set for our two youngest in the family.Great atmosphere and prompt service alongside a fabulous Christmas dinner we will definitely be doing Christmas dinner out again..no washing up and no shopping for all the food..highly recommend!!! Another visit to the Red Lion after a not so good experience last time.

Eight of us enjoyed exceptional food and friendly and helpful service. A lovely evening with some unusual but great twists on traditional food. We all went home agreeing we needed to go back again. And we will.

This was our first visit and we couldn't be more pleased. The food was delicious. The staff very friendly, attentive and helpful. The restaurant had great atmosphere and the price was very competitive... Will be revisiting very soon

Managed to book a table last minute (on the day) even though it’s so close to Christmas. Food was excellent and staff were so helpful, friendly and accommodating. I can honestly say I’ve not had a bad meal here.

We find the Red Lion an excellent venue to meet up with family, especially with children as there’s food to suit them all. One family member said that it was well worth the hour’s drive. The carvery was all locally sourced and excellent. We will definitely be meeting there again.

Lunch yesterday with friends celebrating husbands birthday. The menu had something for all our tastes, it was presented well and was full of flavour. The decor was very cosy and welcoming to a high standard. The staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Will definitely be back to try something else from the menu.

We only booked yesterday we were so very lucky to be fitted in as they are always so very busy . Anyway everything was perfect the staff, the food, oh my goodness superb and Diane the manageress was the perfect host. Place was packed , fantastic atmosphere. Ten out of ten no improvements needed xx

Good and wonderful small place, but the owner and the staff do not have any courtasy. Poor in customer care.

2 of us visited here on a Thursday evening, we had tapas between us. I enJoyed every part of it, apart from the scotch egg, but I think that’s just personal taste as my husband soon finished it off! We both had a dessert afterwards which I couldn’t quite finish although it was delicious. We will be back again to try more choices of tapas all staff were very friendly & helpful too, thank you.

This was a family meal as we were in the area visiting our son and daughter in law. We both have dogs, so booked to eat in the dog friendly bar area. It's a lovely place with nice decor and looks to have been recently refurbished. We were warmly welcomed and promptly seated , drinks were ordered and so was the food. My wife and I had the crispy hens egg as a starter, which were delicious. Me and my son ordered steaks as our mains , I had a rib eye and my son had a fillet steak. Both were cooked to perfection , which is tricky to achieve with two totally different cuts of meat. We'll done ! The girls respectively had stone bass and chicken and they both enjoyed their meals too. We all finished off with puddings. A very enjoyable evening in a lovely surroundings .

We had a family gathering (8 of us in total) and dined here on a Saturday evening.

Recently visited for lunch with my daughter, we were seen to promptly and seated by our wonderful waitress Dianna. I ordered the pie and my daughter ordered the chicken; both arrived quickly and were very substantial portion sizes. My pie was very filling and the chips were divine (I was informed they are sourced from a local farm). We managed to save room for deserts, we ordered the cheesecake and delice to share; both were to die for! We are looking forward to visiting again with family as this is a very lovely establishment. Incredible service, delightful food and a lovely atmosphere.

Contrary to recent reviews which sound too good to be true, our visit was far from perfect.We chose what we wanted off the menu and were then informed they were not available.This is a poor excuse as the previous two days they had been closed for lunch so plenty of time to get in supplies.The chips were indeed salty and had to be replaced.We will not be returning.

We had our French relatives visiting for a long weekend so we took them to The Red Lion at Bicker. This is an absolutely beautiful gastro-style in an idyllic setting. Everything on the menu looked amazing so everyone in our party of 8 ordered something different. The food was of the highest quality; all locally sourced and freshly prepared. The food was absolutely delicious. Our 6 French guests were very impressed and have already booked for January when they are visiting again. The staff were very professional, friendly and attentive. I have to say, I had the 'chips' and they were the best chips I had ever had; homemade, chunky, crispy and fluffy on the inside (we didn't find them salty- I never add salt to my food). Considering there were 8 of us, having 3 courses with wine, the bill was very reasonable. We are certainly planning to take advantage of a visit during the week to sample the delicious looking Lincolnshire Tapas menu and free bottle of wine deal!

We had the best meal we have ever had! All food is fresh, rustic and to the highest quality with excellent service! Such a friendly and homely atmosphere and the menu has a diverse choice with a unique Lincolnshire tapas which makes it stand out from other restaurants- perfect for family meals with something for everyone!

We held a surprise baby shower at The Red Lion on Saturday afternoon...and we're so happy that we chose to have it there!

My wife and I had visited the Red lion on numerous times in the passed.

Three of us sat down and ordered one lunchtime and waited for our meal and the waitress came back and told us we could not have it, 2 different meals between us, because the butcher had not delivered the meat. Where is the communication between the chef and the waiting staff? That is not the way to run a business.

I’ve been lucky enough to have been 3 times since they reopened. The food & service is excellent. It is the best Sunday roast I have had in a restaurant. If I was going to be super critical I would say the roast potatoes could be a bit better but that will not stop me returning because everything else was perfect. I have no idea what they put in the red cabbage but it was amazing & will go for extra portions of that next time. Whenever I have friends stay Red Lion will be my first choice for eating out.

Visited the Old Red Lion yesterday for the first time this year because of the fire. Had a very warm, friendly welcome and an excellent meal. All staff worked well together. Will be back soon.

We had a Friday lunch visit for 5 of us. We were all very pleased with our choices and the portion sizes. I had the seafood linguine, which was really good, plenty of seafood and very tasty. Other dishes chosen were the liver, chicken in white wine sauce, which were excellent. I like the side dish of vegetables included, nice touch.

We called in for a few Friday evening drinks. The service and friendliness was outstanding and a breath of fresh air compared with the hit or miss welcome we experienced before the recent shutdown due to an electrical fire. Keep it up please, Red Lion. The team changes have worked wonders! If you're looking for a traditional and historic English pub experience with the option of great food, look no further.

Just visited the pub after the work being done and reopening. Lovely food, I had chicken with white wine sauce. Really enjoyed it, will be going back again.

Now re-opened after a refurbishment due to a devastating fire, you honestly wouldn’t know except the paintwork looks fresh and new.

This was a long awaited return visit to Ye Olde Red Lion after its long closure due to a electrical fire.

Eaten here several times, couldn’t fault it. Superb food nicely presented. A lovely friendly and cosy atmosphere. Came with relatives for a birthday lunchtime meal, also for a family Christmas meal and as a couple several times. Staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly.

The place is magical, it takes you back in time . The food is amazing our small party of friends really enjoyed the experience. There is a spirit of a place great atmosphere. The owners are doing a fantastic job . Highly recommend it .

I'm running out of superlatives for this divine place. Never had a bad meal, but it just gets better and better. Had the pork loin and I couldn't fault any of it, vegetables perfectly cooked and the flavour of the jus sublime. Struggled to resist the temptation to lick the plate. Well done red lion!!!! Can't wait to return.

Booked as is the prevailing wisdom , turned up at appointed time and had a very good lunch in surroundings with genuine history . Drinks came in good time . A nice place that tries . Take your best teeth and relax .

Sunday social with friends, with great service and quality food. The carvery is extensive with piping hot vegetables and trimmings. Perfect place for a get together. Fixed prices too, so you know what you’re in for, which is a very reasonably priced lunch.

Sunday carvery is excellent. 3 meats to choose from, served with Yorkshire pudding, and a vast array of vegetables to choose from. All piping hot. Very nice...

Despite the winter gloom (Tuesday evening in mid January) the car park was nearly full- reservations are usually essential. We sat in a pleasant corner, and service was prompt and friendly. Our starters were from the Tapas menu, all delicious and extensively from local produce.

So... I looked up the menu before we visited. Excited about the thought of the food, however upon arrival i felt it the welcome was a bit dull, waitress had a face like someone spent all her tip money.

First time visit for me and my partner. We both had the Sunday Carvery option, of which there was ample food. We had planned on having pudding afterwards, but neither me nor her could eat one by the time we finished our main course. Every thing was so good: Food, cleanliness and friendly staff. Despite being very busy, we were seated and waited on bang on time.

Visit to Boston hospital, stopped off on the way purely based on TA reviews and I have to say despite living in North Derbyshire and being able to enjoy some of the best restaurants and Gastro pubs - this place serves the BEST most consistent food EVER! Guaranteed

Found this small pub by accident one lunch time. What a pleasant surprise. The menus was varied and the staff were polite, pleasant and efficient. We enjoyed our meal in comfort...

We recently held a family celebration at Ye Olde Red Lion, Bicker for 41 people. Steph, James and the team were amazing and made our day very special.. the food was delicious, good choice, hot and served to all guests in a timely manner and the service was second to none. We cannot speak highly enough of oyr experience, thank you all so much.

Everything about this place oozes history.Four of use ate here today ,& all of us enjoyed our meals.3 of us had garlic mushrooms to start which were gorgeous,the other had whitebat & no complaints from him.All of us had a delicious carvery with the meat being thickly cut,& a good selection of hot veg.Definatly recommend ,but you need to book.

Went here for the first time and couldn't fault it. Service was great from start to finish. Carvery well organised....sending certain tables up at a time so no confusion or queuing. Fabulous establishment which uses the best of Lincolnshire produce. Special mention to the chefs... Carvery items cooked perfect... Even the beef pink... But not rare and melted in the mouth. Puddings were also fabulous, the pear, apple and blackberry crumble was lovely.

A lovely pub set in some of the finest fertile land in Lincolnshire.A regular visitor for Sunday carvery,fantastic.On a visit recently I ordered the pie of the day which was delicious,it arrived on a large plate with about 12 chips in a mug and a small pot of gravy.Two of my friends friends were handed a very small boat of veg each and placed these on their plates looking amazed at the very small quantity,peas,siix sticks of carrots,two pieces of parsnip and a spoon of red cabbage.The very nice waitress asked do you have everything,looking at my pie it was veg less and my friend also,asking for our veg it was explained that the two veg boats were to share.Could not believe the pub sits amongst cauliflower,calabrese,cabbage and sprout fields all in season and the owner is a plant producer and farmer and they had skimped on veg.Its a no brainier that veg is a cheap plate filler and a full plate makes a happier customer ,does not also promote our local tastes of Lincolnshire.Sorry to complain as really like the pub ,but it is Bicker not London.My pie and my friends Blade Of Beef were craving some fresh veg but one more dish arrived and was charged two pounds ninety five for about thirty pence worth of veg,our money was returned but we won't be ripped off again for an evening meal,come on Phil promote your brassicas.

This really is a lovely pub. We stopped here one Saturday lunch time on our way back from Lincoln. It doesn't look it from the outside but it is very oldie worldly inside. The menu is not huge but there is something for everyone. Everything from dishes with veg or traditional pub food. My Husband had fish and chips and I had a burger. Both meals were piping hot and the portions are a good size. The pub was very clean and the staff very friendly and efficient. We will definitely call in again.

First time visit to the Sunday Carvery and we were not disappointed. Choice of 3 meats with all of the trimmings. Wide selection of vegetables, all served piping hot. One of the few places in the area that serves Sunday lunch from 12-5pm. Somewhat limited choice of starters and desserts, emphasis seems to be very much on getting you in and out so the atmosphere is very different to the rest of the week. Good value for money but only a limited choice of wine by the glass. White Pinot Grigio or Red Pinotage. Diners are invited up to the carvery rather than a free for all, so less queueing and just a bit more civilised. Servers are good, polite and presentable. With a little more thought on the starters and especially the desserts, could be five stars .

If you want a large spacious pub with microwaved food and a Wetherspoons carpet, go somewhere like a Marstons as that’s what you’ll get. If you want a proper old pub with a fireplace & all the other trimmings then you’ll get it here. I didn’t get any free WiFi here but the signal wasn’t too bad at the front of the pub. If you’re coming here be early as the parking was rammed front and back when we came for a 19:30 booking. There’s a small beer garden attached that I could see, but the weathers changing now so I didn’t get to try it.

Went here Sunday lunch time ...the room we were seated in looked nothing like the dining area on the web site , it was small with small tables dotted about , some would say cosy ....the carvery is just standard but the beef was tough , one small slice and one small slice of pork , a sunken Yorkshire pudding ..roast potatoes and a variety of veg . It was ok but only ok . The salmon alternative was nice and the sauce to go with it was good , a few Baby new potatoes and help yourself to veg from the carvery. When phoning up to book the table we were told what time we had to leave by , not very welcoming and we left well before time up . Some people love this place but not for me ...just average

We were treated to lunch and we all had a really lovely meal. Ye Olde Red Lion is just such a nice place to relax, chat and enjoy good food and service. The quality of the ingredients of each meal is excellent and the dishes are very well presented. Thanks to all the team.

I have been here several times with work colleagues and has always been excellent. My husband and I came for lunch on a Saturday and everything was faultless. We arrived as they opened and everything ready to go. Staff promptly took us to a table, took our drinks order and advised us of soup and pie of the day.

Amazing meal food was well cooked and well presented. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our first time there but definitely not our last.

My Mum and I went to the Red Lion today for lunch. I can honestly say that their fish finger sandwich is the best I have ever eaten! Their homemade tartar sauce is so gorgeous and made with chunks of capers. You get a really big portion and try as I might I had to leave a little bit, but the value for money is so good. My Mum had the ham & eggs which was brilliant too.

We had been here before back in October, so we booked well in advance. It was really busy, considering it isn’t on a main road this can only be a good thing. Once again we had an excellent roast dinner, pudding etc, we’d been to a few others in the area for roast dinners, but this was by far the best and at a reasonable price. As we were finishing off the waiting staff advised us that they had a wedding reception afterwards but did so in a polite and non-hurrying way. We didn’t feel pressurised at all. At the time, we had a 1 month old baby and he was taking his bottle, they let us stay at our table whilst they prepped the other tables. We will certainly be back again.

We took a friend out for lunch and she was so impressed she booked for us all to go again soon, says it all really. If you haven’t been yet you are missing a treat.

A very busy pub and restaurant, with a pleasant ambience. There is a separate dining room and more tables adjacent to the bar area.

What a lovely place good service and fantastic food,only down side is the old locals congregating round the bar makes it difficult to pay for your meal.All in all a great night.

If you like this modernistic approach to drink and food then this is the place for you. Cordon Bleu type portions which leave you feeling hungry although the food is cooked nicely. This pub has changed dramatically over the years due to a shifting client base and doesn’t seem as welcoming as it used to be. A relatively small range of draught beers but well kept. Competitively priced extensive menu although we were disappointed with the portions.

Visited as a birthday meal for my wonderful hubby. Although busy they fitted us in. The food was heavenly. The service was top class and we can't wait to go back. Thoroughly recommend it.

We were in the area to view an Open garden, so asked the householder where would he recommend for lunch. Without hesitation, he named the above establishment, so we turned up with our fingers crossed that they could fit us in.
