Wow we went for lunch the deal is great the food is really nice the staff are very friendly, the pub itself is very nice it’s clean and has a good atmosphere highly recommended

Popped into watch the footie on a Saturday afternoon… hadn’t been in the pub for years but was pleasantly surprised.. nice atmosphere, great decor, great food and great beer.. ordered a fish finger sandwich which was excellent… will definitely return to try other food on the menu … recommended

I didn’t even want to give a one star the way the manger spoken to me over mess on floor that my kids had done but I already asked for a pan and brush to clean up with once the kids had finished but instead the got spoken like something he had stepped in not child friendly atal

Today me my friends and our children visited this pub for a spot of lunch. Each of us had our children with us all babies varying for the ages of 6 months to 4 years. The manager came out and complained to us about the mess our children had made. We already had acquired the dustpan and brush to clean up after our meal as anyone knows kids are very messy especially babies. We told him we was going to clean up when we had finished as we where still eating and he continued to say it isn't funny (none of us where laughing). He then went inside got another member of staff to come and see and she looked rolled her eyes and shook her head. I'm sorry but this is not acceptable. We had every intention of cleaning up after our children which we even did after being spoken to this way! This pub is not child friendly and out children which 2 of these have autism where penalised and made out to be animals. I'm sorry that's not on! We got up and left straight away not even finishing our food and drinks. I would not advise people to go there with their children as the mat also be treated this way. Shame really because the bar staff and young waitress was lovely.

Four of us went for the Sunday carvery. Wow! Such a lot of meat/gammon/turkey!! Well impressed with the meal. Lovely desserts too. Friendly, helpful staff.

Food Good and plentiful, Staff excellent. However the place is freezing. It was like eating your meal in a fridge. When I mentioned it to a member of staff they agreed and reported they were really cold. So come on management light the boiler.

Went for Sunday lunch carvery , meat was lovely and lean and generous portions… veg nice , but roast spuds over cooked as no potato inside hard shells … Yorkshire lovely, gravy lovey …. But to spoil all of this it was cold ! Shame what a waste … Desserts hot and tasty… please get the dinner food hot !!!

What a Christmas cracker yesterday…. Wonderful welcome, excellent service from all, quality food and such generous portions. We thoroughly enjoyed our family Christmas lunch and really felt spoilt by the Leather Bottel team Highly recommend

This is a local pub for us and we love it. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and the food is always top notch. They have so much entertainment here at weekends, we really enjoy quiz night which is on generally every other weekend.

5 of us had carvery there was enough to feed a small army very tasty and plentiful! staff were attentive. The atmosphere was electric I sang there from 4 til 7 the crowd was warm and welcoming had a good boogie. Then the karaoke arrived and wow the place was buzzing! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening with some great singers and fantastic sound. Highly recommended 100%. The staff worked hard and were constantly busy it was very refreshing to be in an extremely well run pub! 👏👏👏

This was my local for many years, unfortunately having moved away from the area and covid I haven't been able to visit however I returned recently to be welcomed with open arms and a smile this place is what a pub should be, welcoming, friendly with a great atmosphere and the food is amazing.

We chose Ye Olde Leather Bottel for our return to eating out after many months away, we weren't disappointed. Heated covered part of the old car park took care of the Covid bit. Extensive menu, including a good choice of 2 for £14 took care of the value. I enjoyed the large steak and kidney pudding while my wife faced the huge ham, egg and chips with an enormous amount of thick cut ham which could pass for gammon. Attentive service by excited to be back waitresses was top quality. Boy I enjoyed the two pints of draught John Smiths! The service was a little slow, probably betraying the difficulty of social distancing in a busy kitchen. There was also some water at the bottom of my pan of vegetables which stopped me pouring the vegetables on to my plate. But those small things don't warrant downgrading the star rating below 5. Excellent quality and even better value, check it out!

Have used this place many times for drinks but today we decided to try the Sunday Carvery takeaway, Well what can I say ! The food was amazing , both beef and lamb were so tender and succulent, so many types of vegetables and amazing crispy roast potatoes , loads of gravy as extra given in a takeout container . Apple crumble , Cherry Bakewell pudding with lashings of custard, all piping hot and well packaged. Thanks for a wonderful Sunday experience , keep it up

My wife and I decided to get a takeout roast dinner yesterday. 8-11-2020. I had the beef and my wife had the turkey, really big portions and very good quality food, cost less than £20 for two. Highly recommend this pub. Many thanks we will be back.

I called in here this week for an evening meal. The place was packed but I managed to get a table. Food was bang average, a bland burger but the chips were pretty good. Service was good but if you are looking for a quiet meal avoid as is very noisy.

Been before nice pub good food.Staff friendly and welcoming.Had the offer of 2 meals for £14.Wow the plates were big and lots of food on them.Everything we had was tasty only thing was the chips let them down,they were overly cooked and were quite hard.Also the music was a tad loud as had to talk loudly to each other.Apart from that we would definitely go again.

I was going to leave 3 stars given the fact they have suspended their 2 meals for 14 pounds on Mon-wed, however after seeing the response they left someone who complained about the same thing I'm giving 1 star.There is absolutely no reason to stop deals during the eat out to help out scheme as they aren't losing money. It is a synical way of fleecing the twx payer in my view.

Just had a Sunday carvery here, delicious. I had the turkey but there was a choice of lamb and beef as well. Good selection of vegetables and the usual trimmings. Opted for chocolate fudge cake for dessert, one of the best I’ve had. Really impressed by the COVID safety measures that are in place, felt a lot more comfortable here than I have in some venues I have ventured into since coming out of lockdown. Will definitely revisit.

Arrived at B&B and recommended this pub by B&B owner. We found both service and quality of food to be excellent. We had the Rosemary & garlic crusted Brie wedges for starter and the Ham, eggs and chips (two for £14). The quality of the food was excellent and the portion size was amazing. We are from the Midlands and are I can say that the food was far better than the standard we are used to.

I’ve recently visited this establishment again as I was told previous owners/ management had left and I must say it has improved dramatically since my last visit ,although after speaking to a few regulars they have told me that both the kitchen(in the pub which served customers )and also upstairs(living quarters) had to be fumigated due to lack of hygiene and animal faeces everywhere ,let’s hope it continues to be a pleasant place to visit under the new management

Just got back from this place. Service is terrible!!!! Waited 15 mins to get served a drink while ppl coming in after were getting served(Locals). Food order wrong after being asked twice 10 mins apart also cold and tasteless. Lucky im not allergic to eggs as bbq sauce is now mayo. Told by b an b we are staying at will get 10% discount. That didn't happen although they have given it to other ppl. Avoid like the plague. I for one will never set foot across the threshold again!!!

I was staying in a nearby guest house and popped in here for a pint. Proper locals pub but all friendly. Plenty of screens showing the football. Decent pint at reasonable prices.

I was staying in the hotel across the road and went for a quick pint. Place is a locals pub, but friendly and full of characters. Not sure if food is sold so can't comment on that.

Friendly staff and the food is quite something 10/10 huge portions! if you have a good appetite then this place is for you!

No Lunch at our Hotel but this Pub saved the Day. We a received and warm smile and excellent food and service. The pubs regulars recommended their Sunday Carvery,pity we do not live nearer.

First time visit to this pub, came with partner and thought it really was excellent. The food was excellent as was the service. We had the classic burger, and hunters chicken for main, along with the new blackcurrant cheesecake and Brownie cheesecake. Will certainly return here again ASAP.

Popped in recently for a drink and stayed for dinner. Very friendly locals, lively pub, excellent bar staff. Apparently pub has had a recent refurb, the toilets were very tidy and clean. Great choice of food, extremely tasty and reasonably priced. Not a very big carpark unfortunately, had to park on the main rd. If your passing definitely worth a visit.

We were here for lunch to celebrate our parents 65th anniversary. We took advantage of the 2 meals for £14 deal. The service was very quick and friendly and the food was great. One had steak pie, one had hunters chicken and two had scampi. The food was cooked to perfection and the portions were large. Unfortunately this meant no room for pudding! We are planning to go back again this week.

Stopped off here after shopping one Sunday. The roast carvery looked so good we decided to try. Very nice and far better than any other carvery in the area. Give it a go as I'm sure you wont be disappointed.

Best community pub around , you have to give it a try yourself . Burgers are so delicious they come with plenty of chips and the portions are huge, is the best value for money around compare with all the franchises so call pubs . Clean , spacious and friendly staff , good variety of drinks and cheap price .

I reviewed this hell hole back in August and got a reply from the so called management asking if I’d reviewed the correct pub and I’m happy to tell you that yes I did and when I revisited the establishment to see if my review was a bit harsh and they was just having a bad day I wasn’t at all surprised to find that nothing at all had changed apart from the fact that the floor was even stickier than before ,the toilets are still getting used for lets just say “social gatherings “ and the staff are extremely rude ,I will not be returning ever again

Great food and seriously good value for money - we all struggled to eat everything on the plate, it was delicious, well cooked and very well presented. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff made it a very pleasant lunch time meeting.

Excellent food, lovely bar staff and a great family pub. Me and my family came to Ye olde leather bottle for a family meal. The fish and chips are to die for and so is the chicken pepper stack. The steak is cooked to perfection, the chicken is so tender and the pies are delicious. The pub is so clean. The floors are polished to perfection and there is no dust or dirt on the floor. The toilets are very clean and the managers are friendly. Overall this is the best pub grub I have had and I’m definslty coming for the outstanding tasting Christmas dinner.

Avoid this place like the plague the staff are all ways drunk the floor is sticky from spilt drinks and the toilets are mainly full with men and women powdering there noses ,the owners/managers have no control over the staff of customers

Delicious, filling, loads on the plate. Friendly staff behind the bar. Nice decor inside. Not completely gentrified but got nice locals as well as decent prices. Not run down. Good to being family to as well as a little date. There’s little quiet spaces too.

Decided to return for another delicious meal today . Too warm to cook so decided to treat ourselves . The bar and seating areas were lovely and cool . We are slowly working our way through different meals on the menu , each time we visit . Choice for today was Fish & Chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce . My choice was the home made Chicken and Ham pie with chips , baby carrots and peas and gravy . All helped down with a lovely couple of Ciders . We left there happily stuffed and home to sit it out in the warm , sunny garden . Perfect Friday treat . If you want some where new to try for a drink out or even a meal , whether it’s for two or a group , then you should try here . We have not been disappointed yet ! .

good varied menu, value for money. Well worth a visit. Was a little noisy as there was a football match on several screens but apart from that it was good.

We were given a gift voucher from my sister for Christmas and decided to use it yesterday , Saturday 27th January . Firstly , my sister was very impressed with the quick response she had on receiving the voucher via post and contacted them to say thankyou . So yesterday we decided to go for a meal . The menu choice was very good . Something to suit all tastes . The restaurant and bar were very clean too . Friendly and helpful staff . Quick delivery of our food and pleasantly hot . Would certainly recommend Ye Olde Leather Bottel for a meal . Good value for money too . We will be returning again very soon .

Met two friends for lunch, they had the fish pie and I had chicken stuffed with a prawn mouse, sun dried tomatoes and olives plus glazed baby carrots and green beans. All three meals were excellent, served hot and arranged to look appetizing, confirmed by no empty plates. The only downside was that we were the only people in the pub, although four other customers did come in during the two hours we were there. This is a spacious clean and airy pub, with a good car park, it is a shame it was not a little busier. Would recommend and will be visiting again

I stopped in here for an evening meal having attended a course in Gravesend and staying in a nearby B&B.; A fantastic welcome from the engaging bar staff with a great pint of Doombar real ale. All topped of with a highly recommended and huge house burger. My only negative is that I only found it on night 3 of 3. Will definitely be back to both drink and eat.

We visited this pub for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The pub had a lovely decorated xmas tree and was very clean. The presentation of food was really good and tasted yummy although a bit too large for us. The staff were friendly and food served quickly. Just one downside - there were two regular men sitting at bar who were rather loud and we didn't like the continous swearing.

Great selection of quality beer and cider. Fantastic menu to suit even the fussiest diner. Overall lovely atmosphere and good honest staff who are very welcoming.

The reason for the ridiculous title is that I don't like to give bad reviews and hurt businesses I eat at. Yesterday I had a beautifully cooked and presented steak which was delicious! The staff was really welcoming and professional! It would have been a five star review if I didn't return today. The Lamb shank I ordered was a decent chunk of meat on the bone, but everything else on the plate felt like a trip to Tesco's frozen isle. "Fresh from frozen" baby carrots, something that tasted like bisto gravy and instant mash. I would like to give them the benefit of a doubt when it comes to the latter but it's so easy to make great mashed potatoes and flavourful gravy in a professional kitchen! I have much hope for this place and will be back on Sunday for the carvery! Hopefully I will not be disappointed:)

Visited today early evening for a family dinner. Food is amazing plenty on the plate for a very reasonable cost. Different meals ordered and each one was as delicious as the other. Staff very friendly, welcoming and professional. Whole pub atmosphere was great and welcoming for families and children. Will definitely be visiting again.

Popped in here for some grub on a Monday evening on a business trip - place is clean and staff are very pleasant food was nice and reasonable price . Not menu people about so was served straight away - would pop back again if in the area again

The pub is good and actually has a lot of character. It's been taken over by new management, but the previous management told me about the "alleged" spooky goings on over the years :-). I don't go a lot but when I do - and it's raining - the smokers tend to congregate in the "porch" of the entrance - which the new management MUST know about and so think this is OK - and it means you have to go through a) disgusting smoke and b) (depending on the level of customer) annoying "oi oi's" etc etc comments. As with other reviewers, the food used to be amazing, not sure what happened but think the management should listen to these reviews! The pub does have (for me) very funny Karaoke nights as well as others that are well worth a visit. This pub COULD go back to being great, if only the management would listen.

After visiting this pub for a family Sunday lunch on several occasions I can honestly say this visit (26/62016) was a total disappointment!Where has all the lovely fresh cooked vegetables gone???like the lovely crispy potatoes, those massive crisp Yorkshire pudding, the purée carrot and swede and the tasty Mediterranean vegetables! Instead, we found a quick trip to Iceland frozen products, which were undercooked and hard!!!The food was inferior, yet the price remained the same. Not sure if under new management or just has a new cook but the quality of the food has definitely gone down hill !

...I have to write another review of this pub!After being so impressed earlier this year I'm afraid my impression has changed a great deal!!It seems that the staff that normally run this local have taken a fairly long holiday and the people now in charge are a very pour substitute. The menu has changed, the quality of the food and way that it is cooked has deteriorated drastically.From waiting 15 to 20 mins on average, the waiting time is now often over an hour! Having spoken to several friends who also regularly eat here, we all feel the same and no longer feel we can recommend lunchtimes at Ye Olde Leather Bottle.I can only hope that on the return of the usual staff/management their regular customers will return.

Got off to a good start by the menu being totally different to the website one, VERY basic. When the meals were brought out the timing was all over the place, some had nearly finished when the others were served. Here's our experience. Starters : Spicy prawns were tasteless, tomato soup luke warm with skins floating around. Mains: Burger was cold & undercooked, onion rings just stodgy undercooked batter (where's the onion ?), lasagne was more like a minced beef pie, just one layer of pasta. We did complain, & had one meal & one drink knocked off the bill, but that's not the point. Our daughter spent a lot of money here for nothing, it was Father's Day & she felt bad. And finally a word to the new Rumanian owners that have cleared off for 3 months on wedding nuptials - try staying in the UK & running a business !!!

Brought back some happy memories.Their homemade minestrone soup tastes and looks exactly like the batchelors packet soup I used to have as a kid, uncanny !!Lager £1/pint more expensive than the wetherspoons a mile away.

Very good evening meal and good beer. Four of us ate very reasonably and well.The dog on a bar stool (at the bar) is hilarious.

No nonsense food, well cooked and appealing. If you are not one for fancy food at fancy prices then this is the place to go. You won't be disappointed. I doubt you would want to eat here for a special occasion but for everyday eating out it is as good as you will find anywhere in the region and better than most.

Popped in for a drink and a meal from the Granby Hotel across the road. Just expecting standard fare but was really impressed with the high quality of the meal - I had the gourmet stuffed chicken with the sun ripened tomatoes - really tasty and well presented - and substantial.

This is a local pub for me and my family, the service is always friendly and the atmosphere is always very welcoming for families. There is a large range of meals to choose from ranging from breakfast to dinner, very affordable also. The portions are very large, I had the lamb shank and had to leave quite a bit as I was so full, but I see this as a good thing. Would recommend!

Myself and my young daughter visited the pub today for lunch after being recommended by a friend. Staff were very welcoming and polite. I had a chicken burger that was cooked perfectly and the children's meal was also well done. Will definitely be back

We were staying at the hotel opposite and it was suggested we ate at the Leather Bottle because the hotel was not serving dinner that evening. We had had a long day and just wanted something tasty before retiring for an early night.The main door entering the pub had lots of filthy black finger marks which was very off putting, the young lady behind the bar was very pleasant and took our drinks order immediately.The menu was quite extensive and we decided to have prawn cocktail to start then for our main coarse my husband chose a burger and I chose Caesar salad. The prawns were small, I think shrimps but that wasn't a problem, the sauce was ok but the lettuce was too strongly flavoured which took away the flavour of the shrimps but that is not a complaint because everyone has different tastes. The prawn cocktail was served with thick white bread with quite a heavy coating of margarine which tasted strongly of onions, perhaps the chef used the onion knife to spread it.....we didn't eat it.The main courses arrived, my husband said the burger was terrible and didn't eat it and the Caesar salad was a disgrace. The lettuce was actually almost sloppy, the leaves could not be separated and the parmesan cheese had melted making it even worse, the dressing was thin and came in a little jug on the side. The chicken was edible but that was all.The young lady behind the bar asked how the meal was and when I hesitated she asked me to tell the truth....so there you have it. In hindsight I should not have paid for the food but we just wanted to leave, it was so awful.I read the earlier reviews and replies from the management, they stated that it pub does not serve A La Carte meals......we were not looking for that, all we wanted was good honest decent food.I hope the food soon improves but we will not be returning.

...after finding that there was no food served on a Sunday evening. We would have stayed for a drink, if only to get out of the pouring rain, but having had to endure a drunken interrogation from the three skanks smoking in the doorway, whilst we soaked whilst waiting to pass, rather soured us against the place.Low class dive, avoid.

Came here with some friends for a couple of drinks but after seeing the quality of food coming out of the kitchen, we decided to stay for dinner. Top quality food that was absolutely gorgeous. everything that was ordered was delivered with immaculate presentation and every bite was as good if not better than the last. 100% pleased with this place from the lovely friendly atmosphere and helpful staff, to the outstanding meal. Myself and boyfriend are staying in the Granby across the road and thought we would try it out for dinner. On walking in to the pub we were met by a warm bubbly atmosphere with lots of smiling faces, the lady behind the bar was quick to welcome up and we ordered drinks quickly and set up and tab. We grabbed a table which was no issue at 6pm and started looking at the menu. What can I say? They had everything from omelettes to burger dinners. We decided (as we weren't to hungry) to go for omelettes. One steak and one with cheese, hash browns and onions. Both came with chips and side salad. OH MY GOODNESS!! I have never seen portions that huge at such a low price! Delicious high quality food cooked perfectly! Seriously can not fault anything. As well as the happy atmosphere there's is also a gorgeous little dog that is no trouble that wonders around the pub wagging her happy little tail. Would recommend this place to anyone, thank you for making the first day of our holiday so wonderful! 5 star all the way!

I was looking forward to coming here for food due to all recent good reviews But immediately as I walked in, everybody looked round as it was clear I wasn't from the area. No tables are set out for eating. There was a staff dog sitting by the tables surrounded by half eaten dog chews. Contradicting the 'no dogs allowed, (except guide dogs) sign on the door. Maybe I just came in on an off day, due to it being a weekend. It just felt like an unwelcoming atmosphere. I decided not to eat so cannot comment on this, only on the first impression ambiance.
