Mediocre "Trendy" food. Compulsory 10 percent service charge, poorly trained staff and hidden charges for condiments. Quite expensive for effectively takeaway food. But that's everywhere in cities nowadays.

Food was okay at best, extremely overpriced and terrible service.

First time visiting the Northern quarter Manchester from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 we fell in love with this quirky aesthetic chicken place. Ryhs made us feel very welcome and asked us if we had tried any of the house sauces we loved them will 100% be back ! And telling everyone in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 about it :)

Kinda average at best. Took 20 minutes for us to have our order taken as they took our menus away from us and assumed we had already ordered. Was almost late to our event as the service was slow. Food was okay but could have been better.

The food was just 'meh' despite the rave reviews. Ordered a menu item that had mac n cheese, cheese sauce, extra cheese on top, marinara and another sauce (tennessee I think) but I could only find a tablespoon of mac n cheese. The 2nd meal was advertised with buffalo sauce and blue cheese sauce seemed to just have franks hot sauce on it. The last menu item we ordered came with a honey sauce 3 of us on the table tried it and all of us hated it.

Simply the best fried chicken you will ever have.

I have never had anything so delicious in all my life. The salt and pepper wings were out of this world. The cherryade was the best I've ever had too. The onion rings were gorgeous and the cheese sauce was perfect. First time visiting but will definitely be visiting a LOT more soon! Beautiful food, staff are brilliant, and the atmosphere was phenomenal. Keep up the good work!

Ate early on valentines day, prior to going to a gig. Place was quiet, not empty, when started but filled up as we ate. Quite a few young couples and a few families Food was good, dirty fries and a kebab thing, both with butter chicken, quite different and very tasty. Worth a visit for a decent bite to eat

The food was delicious. The service was great. The waitress was friendly and keen to take our order and see if we needed anything.

I'm giving 1 star because it has a confusing toilet layout. I went for a piss at the urinal and a group of women walk in and start doing their makeup! The toilets were also gross and covered in piss.

The food is excellent and has a good variety of meals as well as a choice of various foreign draught beers with a good selection of bottle beers.

Great place for families. Kids loved it and it was great value for their meals. Proper chicken nuggets - none of the processed rubbish! Really nice selection of food and drinks. Good service. Looking forward to it next visit

Food was delicious, service however was below par, they ignored our phone call firstly, the waitress when we arrived was really unfriendly and walked off before we’d had a chance to ask for everything we would’ve liked. When our plates were eventually cleared we were sat for 40 minutes waiting for the bill. Great food shocking service.

Great visit with a delicious meal, always a safe pick for tasty chicken in a modern restaurant setting. Only complaints for my visit is we were sat in a corner, around the corner so was more difficult to get attention of staff than if we were more central. Also confusing why the tables push ordering via app but staff pushed ordering directly, no complaints though as we're fine with either.

First time visit on a Thursday lunchtime. Food was delicious, definitely their own unique twist on fried chicken. I had the I ate Mondays burrito which was a mixed up taste sensation,give it try! There's so many food choices in Manchester bit this place deserves your custom!!

The food was very nice but it was very loud on the evening that we visited the yard & coop. I know pub like settings will be loud but we were sandwiched in-between two Christmas parties with very loud music playing. We just picked the wrong time of year to go but the food was very nice, I'd recommend trying it for sure!

I went with my family and friends today and honestly didn’t like it. The prices of the food is outrageous for what it actually is. Plus the chicken wasn’t even crispy (how it’s meant to be after you fry it) and had a weird taste in it. The prices of the drink were alright ( 7/10). I’d not recommend it. I’d rather go whetherspoons honestly.

We have eaten in the restaurant in the past and eaten amazing food e With great service. Decided to get food through a delivery service today and the courier forgot to pick up part of my order. Natasha and her manager went above and beyond to rectify the situation and brought the missing food out to us directly. Amazing friendly service and better food I can't recommend them enough!

Love it!!! Imagine an American type buttermilk fried chicken, with a twist and you'll have an idea of what this place serves. Food is AMAZING!!! The names of the chicken dishes are so tongue in cheek....I had the "dirty bird" 😉, with a side of mac and cheese. Cocktails are good too. Vibe is very northern quarter, cool and relaxed. I'd thoroughly recommend a visit!!! Enjoy!🍗

Very long wait but very busy evening. That said, a table of 8+ that entered after us got served probably 20 minutes before us (we were only two). Also my wife added the surcharge for the chicken breast and received chicken thigh anyway. Had to have it removed from the bill. No point changing the order to wait another hour at that point as this made us late for a gig already

Bit of a let down, Bob on average food

For a chicken restaurant I would expect the fried chicken to be crunchy/crispy on the outside with soft juicy chicken within. It’s simply not the case here. I tried to keep it classic and ordered the classic tenders and slaw. The chicken was tough and chewy. The batter was falling off the chicken which makes me think it possibly wasn’t floured before it was fried. The slaw is peppery and not great. Lacks the light freshness of a slaw. I hate to say it but whoever is preparing this food has no care for the outcome of the dish. How can you ruin tenders at a chicken place..???

Went to the christmas market one. RIP OFF. ONLY GIVE 3/4 CHIPS AND 3 RABBIT SIZE POO PEICE CHIKEN. NOT WORTH THE MONEY AND FOOD. DONT GIVE THEM YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. THEY FOBBIN EVERYONE OFF

What a friendly place, and the food absolutely delivers! Juicy spicy chicken burgers, crunchy slaw and a great choice of drinks. Definitely a place to try!!

Visited for a lunchtime offer £10 for a sandwich and a drink. £2 for optional chips.

Only highlight was the really friendly and accommodating staff, they were great! Restaurant was so loud, felt more like a club with the volume. Food took an hour to arrive and there were hairs in the batter for the chicken tenders that we didn’t notice until the end. Cocktails didn’t taste very alcoholic and the Flip the Bird IPA is next level awful, no idea why Y&C continue to make that by choice. The card machine system went down when we tried to pay and we were told to either order more drinks and wait or take out cash, eventually we did a bank transfer which was a pain and a real sucky way to end such a mediocre experience. If you want a better Y&C experience, go to Piccadilly Train Station and make the commute to the Liverpool branch.

The problem is, value for money at xmas market pop up. Food was OK, I had buttermilk chicken, chips and buffalo sauce. £10 seems reasonable until you receive basically one small chicken mini fillet and some fries and no drink included. Chips cooked to perfection and chicken was nice but a little too herby for my liking, it didn’t need so much herby flavour as it took away from the flavour of the home made buffalo dip. Will probably go back in fairness to try one of their £11 meals as they looked more substantial and gave me considerable food envy as I saw many customers before me.

Wonderful food, chicken was fantastic, staff were friendly although service a little slow. However this seems to be because of how busy it was when we dined.

The foods okay when they serve you, but don’t bother going if you have an allergy. Despite offering gluten free options they won’t serve you if you are a coeliac. Dave Walsh personally kicked us out for asking for this option which they advertise online. He wouldn’t even let us drink the drinks we’d already bought. If I could give the service a 0 I would.

Really nice atmosphere and great service, I really enjoyed the seitan wings (vegan). My only reason for 4 stars is the quality in relation to the price, I don’t think it was worth the amount I paid. However, I definitely enjoyed the meal, I just wouldn’t make it a regular place to eat personally!

booked with a group of over ten ppl, and i was around 30mins late due to traffic. they kindly let us stay longer than our booked time so we didn't have to rush to eat. the staff were very nice, and the food was great. i tried the karen. i rate the food a 4/5 stars because the chips were a bit too salty but it wasn't terrible. i definitely would go again multiple times.

The shop have nice atmosphere, the staff is amazing and always helpful, we been there quite a few times and always is super nice licking good! I clearly suggest Yard and coop to everyone! If you get there ! You have to got the Dirty fries !! 🤯

Great place food is great atmosphere is good too

Just an incredibly dank tray of food! Every mouthful was amazing. The Messi Burger had fantastic flavours from the sauces but the chicken was coated with something special! It was so crispy too and plenty of it. I did have to send it back for the pulled beef to be added and I'm glad I didn't miss out because that was really tasty too. The BBQ Pulled Chicken loaded fries were almost as enjoyable as the burger. Again delicious sauces and plenty of meat. Some was a tad chewy but I suppose it just made the taste last longer! The place is cool and the staff are a delight. Couldn't recommend it enough and I'll certainly be back. I feel bad that I've never been before now! 2nd Visit: Another great burger! Having had the best chicken burger of my life on my previous visit it was needless to say I was excited to get another fix. I ordered a 'Karen' burger with an extra thigh. It didn't match the lofty high standard set but it was still a damn enjoyable burger! Their chicken is perfectly crisp and juicy. I also had tots which are always a winner over regular fries. Sadly you can't swap them with your meal (like most places...) so I had to have side salad and pay separately for the tots. Fortunately I had a free side voucher to use though! The place itself is always popular and the staff are great. Quite pricey but you'll struggle for a better chicken place in Manchester.

I recently dined at this restaurant, and the food was delicious. We ordered the salt and pepper nuggs, which were amazing, and the chicken tenders with chips. The chicken was juicy, and the portion sizes were generous. However, I wouldn't recommend the cherryade; it tasted like watery tonic water with no cherry flavor. My boyfriend had a sip and he also said it tasted disgusting, which is a shame as it's one of the more expensive soft drinks on the menu and I thought I'd treat myself.

The food was lovely. Was very cold inside, and when asked to take off the service charged, it said that the receipt would be fine to do. The lady who was serving us had a very bad attitude about it, snatching receipts and rude behaviour. Made us feel very uncomfortable.

Awesome food, great choice. Big portion sizes. Staff are lush and friendly. Only downside was that it was bloody freeeeezing where we sat.

I ate at this restaurant yesterday and I was so disappointed by the fried chicken. The chicken was tough, bland coating and very dry. It clearly was not freshly fried. We left all the chicken. The tatter tots were delicious and the highlight of the meal. Staff were polite and welcoming so no complaints about the service however we spent £60 and left starving and disappointed.

The chicken is yummy👍🏻 I’ve been here two times now. The first time was with a group for dinner and drinks and we had a great time. The chicken is perfectly cooked is delicious 🤤 You can sit outside as well if it’s sunny 🌞

Where do I even begin with this restaurant? Some friends and I heard about their deal of a small free dish and were curious to give this restaurant a try. The advertisement didn’t have a start or end time anywhere, no matter where we looked. I even tried calling and no one picked up. We arrived after walking miles only to be told they were out of the dish only a few hours after opening. Fine. Okay. It happens — a restaurant runs out of dishes, even if the dish is the most basic thing on the menu. We decided to give it a try anyways and pay full price, but weren’t even given an extra discount for the inconvenience because “It wasn’t fair to the others,” as if everyone else was a student who got turned away from a promotion after walking miles to get there and not even offered an extra small discount as an apology. Whatever, customer service has really gone down the drain but maybe the food would make up for it. It didn’t. The food was subpar at best and for the price, I would’ve taken food poisoning at Dixie’s any other day. We paid 14 quid for the exact same thing we would’ve gotten with the promotion (I guess they didn’t run out) and still left hungry because the food was so mediocre. Our plates were almost inseparable because there was grease all over the bottom, sticking them together. I lost my appetite after that. Dirty plates? Does that not violate health codes? We were not even offered an apology. We left feeling irritated. Tip is automatically added to the bill with a quote along the lines of “Tip of 10% automatically added for service that will WOW you.” Who in their right mind would argue over a tip with someone who handles their food, regardless of how terrible the service was? Waitress was unhelpful, plates were dirty, and we didn’t even receive the promotion we came there for in the first place. We gave the place a chance, never again.

2nd visit here. This time, we decided on ordering to take away. Not cos I'm antisocial but wanted to enjoy great food and relax in hotel.

The bbq wings and onion rings are not good, place is nice

atmosphere was only good because i was with people i actually like but the manager went through my friend’s bag with no consent which confused us because shouldn’t he be taking orders?? he swore at us unnecessarily before we left and was clearly taking his anger out on customers (specifically young girls) which cannot be justified. for clarification, the blonde waitress was really lovely but her kindness was overshadowed by the gimp in charge (manager wearing yellow shirt)

The Chicken meals we had were fabulous, dirty bird and honeywaffle chicken, great friendly service and fab atmosphere and music

Everything was spot on here apart from my burger it was a full chicken breast which was quite dry and the coating just fell off it not the best experience, the wings and chips were spot on though

Absolutely spot on food. Me, my father and my brother often go to Yard & Coop when we are in Manchester. The product is never frozen and traceable to the farm it came from. Serious effort is put into every meal and honestly this place easily ranks in my top 5 for Manchester food.

Great food, exceptional service and lovely atmosphere. The chicken kebab was delicious chicken was nicely season and cooked brilliantly kebab had a nice warmth to it with a great slaw and sauce.

Sweet Beheeberz!!! Honestly, my Mrs has not shut up since finishing her meal. (I don’t blame her to be fair!!!) This is EASILY one of the BEST chicken restaurants we’ve ever been to. The worst thing about this place is that it comes with a knife which is pointless really. You could happily eat the chicken thighs with a spoon! A secret star by the way, are the ‘Salt and Pepper’ wings. Staff here are an 11 out of 5 shouts to Ciara, Reece and Mikey The vibe is bubbly but chilled a little music in the back never did anyone any harm and you catch yourself singing along in between bites. This place is class!!! Oh not expensive as well! Sorry for the lack of pictures I was hungry and the Bueno pie was asking to be chomped!

Great food, good value. The service was a disgrace. Girl was completely rushed off her feet, plates left in front of us for 20 mins, and had to ask twice where daughters desert was. Someone else who wasn't serving us had to get us the ice cream and bill as she'd basically given up. Worse, they didn't tell us there was a 10 percent charge on, which had I notice I would have asked for remove. Avoid.

Four of us decided to go Yard and Coop after looking online for somewhere different that had been highly rated. Massively underwhelmed by the hype given by its reviews. Paid £14 for deep friend boneless thigh chicken and a tiny portion of chips. Stupidly made the assumption the chicken thighs would come out representing some what the size and shape of a generalised chicken thigh however I received 3 tender but mediocre chicken strips. The extra slaw that I bought with it was horrendous and not worth the £3.50 they charge. The price of alcohol felt like a slap in the face. Due to only having a selection of craft beer on draft I opted for the regular bottled larger.. the same price as draft.. Given the price that we paid compared to the small portions and average quality of food we received, all 4 of us left feeling completely ripped off.

Honestly the best chicken burger I’ve had ever! Customer service was 10/10 with friendly staff. Decoration was quirky and unique. A must in Manchester.

You ever just get a craving for fried chicken? I got it like crazy yesterday and made a bee line for Yard and Coop. Situated in the NQ, it’s the perfect place for all your chicken needs. We sat outside because, unusually, the sun was out! We went inside to order although you can also use the QR code on the tables. We were served by a friendly lady who explained the menu and helped pick our sauces. I went for the chicken thighs with buffalo sauce and chips and chicken gravy. My friend had the same but with their BBQ sauce. Inside the restaurant is pretty cute, it has a laid back vibe, lots of unvarnished wood and high stools. It’s defo a great place to have a few drinks as well as some food. The food came really quickly and was very tasty. OMG I could drink that chicken gravy, it was delicious. The chicken was good, tender and crispy. Buffalo sauce was a bit on the tame side, I like it hot, hot, hot 🥵 The homemade pickle which comes on the side was awesome, loved it. Really compliments the chicken. Unfortunately I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture. Apologies my friends! We didn’t try the cocktails but last time I visited I tried their lychee cocktail which was really tasty. Would defo recommend

Hit up Wings Wednesday - ate a heroic amount of incredible wings! Strongly recommend!

Been visiting for years since 2018 as we love it, we even have a "usual". Wanted to join the conversation around recent changes though as the restaurant is definitely a lot less busy than it used to be whereas it used to be completely booked out. Hoping the feedback can inform some business decisions to make this place really great again! There is no consistency, the food is different every time. For example the bees knees sauce used to be really dark in colour and runny, then it went sticky (with honey added), now it's orange and tastes like buffalo sauce. The chicken has also gone smaller in fillet size, at one point the portion size was drastically decreased but it's back to being relatively generous (but I miss the days of two massive butterfly fillets). The trays used to present the food are also kinda jarring compared to the plates that were previously used. Plus, the prices are very high now, the chicken + chips + sauce plate is significantly higher once the fries are 'pimped' (I previously paid no more than £12 for the meal that's now £17.50). People know this place as "posh KFC" but it is still a very informal venue where you wouldn't expect to pay a lot. We have visited a lot less since these price increases as the beauty was great food at good prices. I have introduced people to the restaurant in the past and they absolutely loved it, whereas in recent years feedback has been kinda meh. May I add the consistency also runs across branches. The Leeds one (don't know if it still exists) was really not good when we visited a year or so ago. Would happily pay the 2023 prices if the 2018 quality returned again, I miss that bees knees sauce and the big fillets!

We've been dreaming about this since we had it! We come to Manchester often but this was our first time trying Yard and Coop and we will 100% be back! The chicken is just mouthwatering.... Me and my partner used to come here all the time it used to be our favourite date place, unfortunately something changed after Covid. Portions are smaller, food isn’t as nice, menu has changed and staff aren’t as friendly. We gave it a few tries before finally deciding we’re gonna start going somewhere else. It’s a real shame to see so many people have had similar experience.

I used to love this place, but it jus seems so unhygienic and the menu has changed and is boring, they need to clean the place up ..

Very very disappointing service. The waitress was very slow. We asked her for two glasses of water which she never got. The birthday meal is also a scam. The offer was get a "free main meal" one week around your bday but they only discounted a side dish and not a main dish.

Chicken comes off-the-bone here which sadly takes away from the enjoyment. My obsession with fried chicken led me to Yard & Coop where I ordered the chicken and waffles. I think the dish relies on the delicious honey butter and syrup to give the chicken more oomph. While it was crispy, it felt somewhat lacking. And the waffles could have been softer in the middle. Not enough chicken pieces either for roughly £15. It's a fast-paced restaurant and we were lucky to get a table but I won't be a repeat customer.

Menu have changed? Salt and pepper wings were nothing like salt and pepper but a weird soy sauce flavour. Nashville wings also didn't taste of anything much. Food disappointed but the worst thing was the loud music like you were in a club. It was only half 4 on a Saturday. Everyone had to shout for any conversation. So of course the whole place was deafening. Horrible atmosphere. Only saver for not one star is the friendly waitress.

Delicious chicken dishes with a variety of sauces and sides.

The food was great, I definitely recommend the chicken gravy fries. Service was 11/10 Jay was amazing, if you have him as your server, you are very lucky.

Came here for a drink. Staff were really friendly. Atmosphere was really cool. Didn't try the food this time but might do next time. Really like the décor and the arcade machine.
