Came for an evening meal and very disappointed to the attitude of staff, they were not very welcoming at all. Had a combo meal and the gammon tasted off (quite sour tasting) , so told waitress who went and told chef and between them through the bar and lounge, half kitchen door could hear them basically slating me for complaining the waitress then came and took the gammon from my plate while I was eating the rest of meal!! And then asked what they could replace it with. I asked for another steak, which came out 10 minutes later, but by then I was full. Drinks took ages to arrive, due to the lack of staff, overall very disappointing, and hoping I do not get food poisoning from this! Will not be going back.

Oh wow! Seriously. We came for lunch on a spur of the moment. The food was exceptional. The "smokie" was exactly as described all the flavours were present. The Desperate Dan Pie was something to behold, though not as big as imagined. It was jam packed with steak, without being overwhelmed by the Stilton. As fortge gravy, I needed a bucket to bring some home in 😊The service great. We absolutely will be coming back. Compliments to the chef and everyone else

Visited Saturday lunchtime and we are frequent visitors. Sadly this visit disappointed; firstly we were sat near the terrace door in the new restaurant area which has been refurbished lovely; however we unfortunately got an awful smell of second hand cigarette smoke from the smokers on the terrace. We asked to be moved and this was accommodated swiftly with no fuss.We both ordered fish & chips and the oil was overwhelming. The fish batter underneath was not properly cooked (as per photo). We were not asked how our meal was and the staff were quite busy. When the waitress came to collect the plates I pointed out how disappointed we were with the food on this occasion & she stated she would let the kitchen know. She never returned with any updates. We went to settle the bill and again asked if she had told the kitchen & the elder waitress responded yes! No apology, discount or nothing. We used to visit probably 2-3 occasions a month but after this visit will not be returning. Customer service was non-existent, which is a shame considering our previous good visits.

Myself & 2 friends booked a meal at this lovely old hotel on 2nd September 2021 . We were struck by the tidy appearance of the hotel & the grounds.... ie neat hedges & outside seating area. We were met immediately as we went by the lady owner & offered a drink & took us to our table. Masks were worn at this stage upto the table. The menu was issued to each of us immediately to take our orders. A young lad brought our drinks over & adjusted the settings for our meal order. 2 of us had the 12 oz gammon with pineapple & egg with mushrooms , peas, chips & veg. 1 of us has a large pie , which he said was excellent. For sweet courses 2 of us had treacle sponge with custard, which was excellent. The other friend said his sweet was excellent too... but I can't remember what he had. All in all we were very pleased both with the service, food & hospitality. Several times the lovely lady owner came over to ask if we had enjoyed everything. We said we did & will be coming back.

Last night was our 2nd visit since the refurbishment. The photo's on here do not do it any justice,, the place looks amazing. Please check this place out, you will not be disappointed. The food is what has brought us back here over the years, always good and wholesome. A firm favourite amongst our family. We have our favourites, such as the Steak and Ale Pie (be warned the large isn't for amateurs !), one of the best if not the best in the area, Crispy chicken, and the Alfred Enderby Smokey, to name just a few. Last night we also ordered 3 of the desserts, which were all delicious. My late father didn't enjoy eating out but he always enjoyed coming here, he mostly had the pie, last night we came as a family to mark the anniversary of my Dad's passing and we were all treat with warmth and respect. We’ve visited the Yarborough Arms on previous occasions, and always enjoyed our food. Today was our first visit since the lockdown restrictions were eased. The whole place has had an amazing makeover; with new fresh decor, floor coverings, tables and chairs. It looks so classy, and has been tastefully thought out and upgraded. It was inviting before but this takes it to a much higher standard of finish. Well done. Now to the food........ we were presented with a full menu of options with some old favourites surviving the test of time. Lots of wholesome choices with something to suit everyone, of that we’re certain. Our server was Nicole, and how pleasant and welcoming she and her colleagues all were throughout our visit. She was ever so pleasant and chatty, making us feel very welcome throughout. The three courses served to us were each beautifully presented and tasted delicious. I have to admit, the ‘Desperate Dan’ steak and Stilton pie was huge, but in my case manageable We were pleased to be back, and it most certainly won’t be long until we return. Came here returning from Cleethorpes cos of the Shop Small American Express deal. Having been once will definitely come again. Its probably a 2 mile diversion off the A180. 1st expressions very good. Nice exterior and interior. Covid safe tick. Pleasant server. 2nd expression not so good. No cask real ale available tonight albeit the Caffreys was fine as was the house Chardonnay. Asked server about the pies. She thought the regular was not enough so recommended the large. Could understand her thought process so agreed. Steak and ale plus chips and veg arrived. Veg wouldn't fit on the plate. Not sure I've ever experienced since a large pie with so much quality steak meat. Taste incredible. My only suggestion is, having seen the regular pie after ordering the large pie, the regular is sufficient for those with average appetite but the large pie needs reducing in size maybe for a slightly reduced price. Will definitely come again when visiting Cleethorpes beach

Both were delicious as were the other offerings. The was lots of variety and I was particularly pleased there was a mixture of plain and fruit scones as I do not like fruit scones but find everywhere else only serves them. I've never had an afternoon tea before and having seen the pictures was looking forward to this. Now, I've eaten here a few times and always the food has been excellent , fresh and home made, so I had great expectations. But I have to say I wholly agree with the other person who reviewed this, it was poor at best. A small section of a supermarket scotch egg, half a small supermarket pork pie, a small sausage roll, a sliver of quiche and 3 small 1 bite sandwiches interleaved with a few crisps, really? Come on!. The scone was Ok and I have to agree the cream was weird. The rest of the puds were as reported soggy and bought in. We were never offered a drink refill which would have been nice. In order to bulk this out we had a portion of chips which made it acceptable. The reply to the other review that it was half price and they couldn't do it for full price is shocking. The money is reclaimed from the government so to say that is absolute crap. Other establishments do far superior teas for around the same price, so I suggest people seek them out and avoid this farmfood fest at all costs. Had I paid full price I would have been having a word, as it was I paid what it was only just worth. Its a shame writing this because if you want some really nice proper pub food I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. So the 1 star is for the afternoon tea only.

Went for afternoon tea on Tuesday 25th August. After seeing the pictures we were really looking forward to it. When we arrived we were shown to a small room with the seats at tables touching back to back, so definitely not socially distanced and felt a little like we had to whisper as to not disterb others sat around us. As it was quite warm the front and back doors were open, unfortunately this meant that one of the inner doors kept slamming extremely loudly, and right, behind us which was was very unpleasant. We were asked if we would like tea or coffee. The coffee arrived at the table with empty cups for the tea... The teapot came about 5 minutes later. When the food arrived unlike the advertised afternoon tea it came on 'platters' so more like a buffet meal. As it was served this way there was no room on the table. The food was 'ok' as others said it was not home made. I will eat most things so did eat most of my 'mains' but others in my party did not. The scone was nice but the rest of the puddings were soggy and seemed defrosted. My friend had a nut allergy so had a browny instead but this was very dry and the cream for the puddings tasted very odd. We were not offered a refill on tea/coffee so asked if we could have another. When we got the bill we were charged for these... This is the only time I have ever been charged for a refill on afternoon tea. Only saving grace was that the lady who we paid at the end had noticed that we didn't seem particularly happy and did ask why. After explaining she did apologise and say she would mention it, but unfortunately as this was our first time visiting the Yarborough Arms we will probably not visit again.

I have had lots of afternoon tea and can honestly say this was the worst one. With regards to the food none of it was fresh or homemade the quiche was soggy from being defrosted. Cream for the scones wasn't proper cream more was like shaving foam. Macarons were soggy. Hard sausage roll. The cake sat on the top of the platter was defrosting and dripping down the side. My friend is a vegetarian and wasn't given any options. At no point did the staff ask how our meal was and seemed stunned that we were really disappointed. We were advised that Mary the manager would phone us later on as she wasn't on shift. Mary called back advising that it is good quality food and wouldn't acknowledge our complaints even arguing that the cream is fresh clotted cream. She said the afternoon tea comes as the picure shown on their Facebook page and there are no options for vegetarian or vegans. We were offered sandwiches and cake discounted if we should choose to return but given the quality of the afternoon tea I don't think we will bother.

On Monday we visited the area for the first time to meet with our son and daughter in law for the first and probably only time this year. Meeting at the Yarborough Arms after our drive from Scotland and theirs from London turned out to be a lovely experience. You were helpful and accommodating on the phone, your staff were delightful and the food was excellent. In these difficult times for the trade, you did a great job and made the central part of our day relaxing and reassuring. Many, many thanks for your excellent service.

Had a meal with friends over the weekend and were all very disappointed in the meals. We waited five months for our first meal out and we were looking forward some tasty home style meals. What we received was bland veg, hard mash, soggy salad and just very bland and uninteresting courses not cooked at all well. Didn’t even stay for a desert and thought we had paid enough already so went to a supermarket for puds.

Called into the Yarborough on the way to a party, great selection of real ales. The staff are friendly and helpful, this pub is olde world and quirky in a really nice way.

I stayed in room 2 - the double bed was so soft and I drifted off to sleep effortlessly. The shower was hot and had a powerful spray.Very filling breakfast of muesli, fresh fruit cocktail and too many croissants, choc au lait and muffins.Delicious, well brewed tea.The shower was hot and powerful. · I hadn't realised latest check in time was 8pm but they kindly managed my 9pm arrival and my 11am departure.

My wife and I visited for lunch today for the first time I can definitely say that it not be our last visit. The Pub is spotlessly clean and welcoming and the staff are very welcoming and attentive. The food is excellent perfectly cooked and very well presented, and there are plenty of dishes on the menu some of which I have not seen in other pubs in the area. We cannot wait to return to try other dishes.

Visited for sunday lunch, I chose scampi and hubby had haddock. Beautiful fresh fish and the chips were lovely and freshly made. Will definitely be going again, well worth the visit. Friendly staff, great service and choice. Was too full for a pudding but the choice was really good. All home cooked.

This unpretentious hostelry - a bar downstairs, with a restaurant offering traditional food (beef pies are a speciality, and well worth trying) - has three rooms that are clean and comfortable, with immaculate bathroom facilities and continental breakfast delivered to the room at the customer's selected time. Ulceby is a small village, and this hotel is on the outskirts. Very well located for North Lincolnshire, including Scunthorpe, Immingham, Barton-on-Humber and Grimsby (a car is essential; the village is located off the M180/A180). There is adequate parking to the rear of the hotel. The staff were gave very friendly service. The negative was the traffic on the straight road outside the window, particularly on our first night (of three): Room 3, to the rear, would have been quieter. A welcome escape from urban hotels, if that is convenient (as it was for us). We will certainly stay there again.

An unlikely location, sandwiched between two dual carriageways and a railway line and with a view of the local oil refinery from the front door. But don't let that put you off, as fine things lurk within!

Went with family for an 80th Birthday lunch, welcomed by friendly polite staff, food was excellent and the portions a good size. All the food is homemade and the pie was excellent, make sure you have a good appetite especially if ordering the Desperate Dan pie, made fresh it's a steak and stilton pie in a thin short crust pastry, if bought packaged would read "feeds up to 4 adults" ordered with chunky chips and veg all I can say is wow, managed it but boy was I full. Good choice of other dishes and specials, something for everyone reasonably priced too, we had a great meal enjoyed by all.

Ordered a pesto and brie wrap and it was literally caked in pesto, so greasy it feel apart and was inedible. Salad was caked in oil so I asked to change it for the chutney and brie with no oil on the salad, which was no trouble at all.....until it came back still with pesto all over the Brie and salad and plate swimming in water. On the plus side, Sarah the waitress was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her and they serve Birra Moretti so it wasn’t all bad would return but would definitely make a different choice next time!
