AMAZING! The food is unreal good , I’m traveling back to USA I was looking for rice and good beef I’m glad I came here , I love it ! Amazing service !

We're here on holiday from Yorkshire, googled Chinese take away, Yan's came up, we collected a take away and it was amazing best Chinese iv ever had, wish we lived closer, I would most definitely recommend

Good food chow mein but dry me though

Went early and it was very quiet which is good as it's so small. They to take out as well. Food was lovely. A little expensive but very nice.

I found it hard to rally engage with this restaurant. But I can't really fault it either. The place was clean and crisp, but not luxurious. The staff were polite and reasonably efficient, but not particularly friendly. The food was fairly nice, but not outstanding. It felt odd that the way in is down a corridor, but I see that this separates out food collections from diners. I recommend going here and trying it for yourself. I don't think you have a bad experience

Lovely staff who spoke to me about the vegan options - All the vegetarian options are vegan! alongside a bunch of the sides. I think the beancurd is standard tofu? They also had a gluten free menu which I haven't seen online. Food was lovely and if I'm ever back I'll be going again! We had take away and the food stayed lovely and hot, tasted good. The Mrs Spotty dish is chilli and garlic (i think), and the malaysian style a peanut sauce (couldve mixed these two up).

Great food, really tasty and well cooked. Crispy duck was delicious. Best battered sweet and sour chicken. Service was excellent, despite it being a busy Friday evening we were well looked after. Food and staff as good as when we first went.

Just eaten in this restaurant and it’s some of the best food we’ve eaten in a long while. Everything was very tasty, hot, and quick to come out. We’re really impressed with this restaurant, the staff were amazing too.

Our first night in Alnwick and we were tired and hungry after our 4.5 HR drive. We wandered looking for food and found Yan's. Lovely place. The staff were very friendly and within 5 mins we'd got prawn crackers and a drink. We weren't sure how food much to order but opted for just 2 dishes - Satay Chicken Malaysian style and chicken crispy noodles. Thank goodness we didn't order more. The portions are large and the food excellent. We really loved this place and highly recommend it.

Disappointing. It was here or Wok and I think I would have preferred your competition. Price isn't too bad for what you get, the quality in ingredients just shows. Slivers of chicken in a 'Chicken chow mein', no veg but three large chunks of onion.. oh well fool me once as they say...

Met by Emma a polite informative and friendly waitress. I had the Beef Chow mien and my wife the King Prawn Chow mien. Both were of a high quality and a good portion.

The best Chinese food we've had in ages. Came here by default when we couldn't get a reservation in our favourite Italian restaurant and we're so glad we did. All the staff and the owner himself made us so welcome. The music quietly playing in the back ground added to the atmosphere. The food was served quickly with helpful information provided by the waitress when we weren't sure what to order. Highly recommended.

Possibly the worst takeaway I have ever had bland won't be going back

Excellent Chinese food served by very polite and helpful staff,

Pay by cash/card. Very quick- just took 15-20 mins to get our order ready. Food was tasty at reasonable price. The business should now focus on doing delivery as it only offer pick up atm.

A lacklustre dining experience saved only by the helpfully engaging youthful staff. Viz: On entering the place we were allocated our seats by a lovely helpful young girl ( who had obvious difficulty walking from her receptionist's seat - recent injury ?) despite an elderly member of staff who seemingly presided over all affairs...Thought this rather ignorantand rude, the language barrier notwithstanding. Served by keen and enthusiastice staff an overly priced meal for two which was both lacking in taste and flair. How do you bugger up swet and sour chicken and beef and blackm bean sauce? Well, you price each dish at around £ 11.95 a pop; ensure it is both tasteless owing to an over preponderance of corn flour base, then serve it with knives and forks on dinner plates!! Really?? We regularlry eat out similarly oriented cuisine in Morpeth , Gosforth and Newacastle and none of thes insults the palate (nor the wallet ) as much as this place did. Begrudged the final bill, but were more than happy to have tipped the wonderful staff who sadly couldn't have hoped to compensate for the abject most un-chinses like fare we were given. Never going back .

Ate here on Wednesday 21st June . 3 of us shared a portion of chicken satay and quarter roast duck and both were very tasty . Mains were sweet and sour chicken cantonese style , kung po chicken and lemon chicken, all with rice . Everyone was really tasty , fresh and piping hot . Batter on kung po was really crispy and a nice chilli heat . Everyone was happy with their meals and would highly recommend. The two young staff were excellent as well and the chef even made an appearance and asked us how our meal was .

Having arrived, and had a pint or two, and the for food. Yan's was near the hotel - and looked nice from outside. Wandered in and as it a Monday was seated immediately. Traditional menu. Got our favorites, but no Pakchoi on the menu. Asked and it came . . . we do like our green veg. Food was amazing, and we left well fed. Great meal and great service.

Visited as a family of four, 2 adults, 2 children whilst visiting Northumberland from Warrington, Cheshire. Excellent food, great portion size and fantastic service. Yans was recommended to us by the site we are staying on in Felton and it didn’t disappoint. Can’t fault this place.

Highly disappointed. Part of the order was missing and food was mediocre. When I rang about the missing food I felt dismissed. Never go there again!!!

Had a lovely meal out here with my girlfriend who doesn't usually like Chinese food but we were really impressed with the quality of food and service we received. Our second time staying up in Northumberland but this is definetley our favourite meal. The young Asian waiter was very polite and got us a basket of free prawn crackers. Prices were affordable and they were very appreciative of the tip I left. Overall I would highly reccomend Yan's for a taste of China in the North of England.

Staying in the area over the weekend, we ordered takeaway food from Yan’s restaurant.I really wished I hadn’t bothered: we ordered chicken black bean sauce and chicken chow mein. Firstly, the boiled rice was undercooked, the grains were dry and hard. Secondly, the chicken was not freshly cooked, it had been pre-cooked then thrown in the dish, so it ended up just dry, tasteless and rubbery. The black bean sauce although very hot was also devoid of any taste. My Dad was from Hong Kong and worked as a chef in restaurants and takeaways, so I know about quality Chinese food. I am sorry to say the takeaway from Yan’s was not edible, and worst I have ever tasted. The other dish was of similar quality, thin dry noodles, no vegetables, and pre-cooked chicken. I really hate to criticise hard working people, because it seemed to be a very busy establishment, but I just wasted £18 pounds. My advice to future customers go somewhere else and avoid being disappointed and still hungry. The young staff were friendly and helpful and gave us free prawn crackers which was appreciated, but the food coming out of the kitchen was tasteless and not even remotely authentic. A very disappointed customer.

Had a take away. We ate in car immediately on receipt but it was cold. Both the fried rice and the Cantonese chicken. It was tasteless. Very small portions too. Staff were not interested.. . The ones in the kitchen. They were leaning on the equipment and laughing instead of getting on with orders. The cook was rude to the lady taking the order for no reason. I would not recommend this place at all. The worst chinese we have ever had.

Bought a takeaway and was not prepared for just how depressing salt & pepper chips could be. Floppy, soggy, flavourless and served in a bowl of all things, not a polystyrene clamshell as you might expect. The chicken was pallid and tough and seemingly boiled. The only saving grace were the prawn crackers and sauce the beef was served with.

We have been meaning to try this restaurant for a long time. Online reviews are generally very good and people we have spoken to have all spoken highly of the food. So recently we had a family meal out. Sadly, we were all somewhat underwhelmed. The ambiance is not the best. Somewhat upmarket cafe rather than restaurant. Plastic tablecloths and no decoration. Minimal paper napkins. The range of meals on the menu was good. Unfortunately, they forgot one of the starters so this arrived just as the rest of us were finishing. There was a long wait for the main meals. Sadly, all the meals were rather tepid than hot and we all agreed all our choices lacked any real flavour. I would have raised this at the time but no one enquired if everything was alright with the meal. Waiting staff were all youngsters and whilst pleasant were not the most attentive. T shirt uniform did nothing to enhance the ambience. Overall, after the anticipation we were all rather disappointed. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. But as I say a bit of an underwhelming experience.

Looked forward to this due to the reviews but found the chips dried up obviously been reheated.found all the meal dry the only good and seamed freshly made item was the curry sauce. Shame felt let down but the food it was early evening so later I assumed it was, all leftovers from the previous night warmed up. Geoff

Had a lovely takeaway from here with lots of options some familiar, some not. All the food was hot, nicely cooked and spiced and generous portions too. Service was quick and friendly. Now takes credit cards as well as cash so even more convenient. Recommended.

We had a sit down meal here around 2 years years ago which was lovely staff also very nice, however we had a takeaway on Sunday 8th August and really wasn't pleasant. Staying in Alnwick for a week and just had a lovely takeaway from here on Sat 12th June. Very impressed and beautifully cooked. I had the mixed started, none of your wing yip deep fried stuff here all seemed freshly prepared and was delicious. Had the salty and spicy squid again no frozen squid rings here but delicious and fresh deep fried squid pieces... Also had the chicken in ginger spring onion and garlic, a very healthy and fresh dish and the beef satay, no gloppy msg ridden sauces all fresh and very well cooked. Am going to have to have another Chinese before I go! Can't wait!
