I used to frequent this place at least 30 years ago with my dad. Absolutely outstanding, probably the closest to traditional Pakistani home cooking. Amaizing, fresh and really well priced. The kids love it too.

Ordered aloo gosht, supposed to be proper desi food, they threw in baby potatoes into the curry skin on, the curry itself was bland lacked flavour come on guys!

Service was not so good, everything was thrown on to the table. As for the food, what can I say, I ordered Aloo gosht, when it arrived it was tasteless, it was like it was just boiled with some colour in it. Won't be back. Sorry.

Been going here for years. Can be hit and miss, depending on who is making your order. The last few times I've been in, the service has been terrible. 3 guys behind the desk, neither of them can take an order. Ended up walking out after 10mins after they couldn't tell me if my telephone order had been cooked or not! Would avoid from now on since the old serving crew have left this place has started to go down hill. Boss is oblivious with his head in the clouds. Needs an attitude check. It's v good.. All food good. But Cury pkora need to be more khata. Its not like home Cury... Use some kahtiii lasiii or yougrt then it will be great full.

The guys run this place extremely well. Pizzas are a must-try. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Even when busy, you're never waiting more than 15 mins. Long may you continue as you have done for 20+ years.

Local canteen, exceptionally good value, lamb karahi a speciality. Am more than happy to be a regular here.

Ordered here for the first time. Phoned up and asked for a 16inch desi style chicken tikka, veg pizza to be ready for 8pm. When I got there pizza is not ready and they had to make it again! I asked for it be extra spicy. I am so disappointed with the pizza it was one of my worst pizza that I have EVER ordered. Pizza was tasteless, very bland and the toppings was very measly. So disappointed in the food and the service. Will definitely not be coming back

Food is always great and delicious i think one of the best restaurant in Glasgow. I would highly recommend the food.

The wait is too long sometimes and its annoying

Lamb karahi I wait 42 minutes but the lamb very hard I order mix kebab I said no salad on the mix kebab but when I went home I saw salad on my mix kebab and very dry horrible food and I’m pretty sure this is the worst fast food takeaway in the area and poor service

Great food served family style. We came here with a large group and tried a bit of everything. Food is generally very spicy

Sadly the place has gone way downhill. The problem as I see it is the pre cooked food seems to be lying far too long on the counter. Samosas and pakoras that are meant to be piping hot and fresh taste bland because they've been sitting for days and then just shoved into the microwave. The donner tastes bland too. The seekh kebabs have no flavour. This was the top place in the city for authentic pakistani food bit someone in the management have taken their eye off the ball. Very sad.

Absolutely honking food, was one of the go too places in the area for authentic Pakistani cuisine save your money and go elsewhere, bland, tasteless food, not worth it anymore

Took over 30 mins for just chips and donner. Got told come back in ten mins I understand it was busy but then the guy proceeded to have my order ready but then take other orders rather than handing my food so can I take it and enjoy hot but he spent ages taking all the phone orders and customers orders while my food was sat ready and went cold and soggy. Won't return after this incident

Had a sat down meal. Best Pakistani cuisine I have ever tasted. Food and service couldn’t be faulted. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.

I have been eating in yadgar for over 30 years. In my opinion, it's far the best curry shop in Glasgow for homestyle food I have tried many other places, but I always find Yadgar to be the best If you ever fancy some authentic homestyle rice and curry, give this place a try. Portions are plentiful

Fantastic food and very respectful and courteous staff. Suitable for families to eat in etc. Good tastes like traditional Pakistani cuisine, much better than any Pakistani restaurant in Glasgow. Chapli kebab are very good so was tikka in naan. Doodh patti also very good. Lassi was mediocre.

The Yadgar is the only kebab shop I go to. It's not near me any more but that doesn't matter. Shish kebab with white sauce on the meat with plenty of their fresh salad. I used to live round the corner and had a healthy take away diet as a youngster. Thanks Yadgar. Keep going forever 😍🌹

I got a takeaway here last March and it was the best Indian meal I ever had, delivered to my doorstep at the premier inn. I liked it so much we drove from Oban specially yesterday, so I could share the experience with my family. It’s impossible to order through the website using an iPad, so tried to phone and was told they didn’t have any drivers. We decided to go in and order a takeaway for 5. One of the best things used to be peshwari naan. We spent £70. We had various chicken, vegetarian curries and Kormas, plus vegetarian. The naan was truly awful, undercooked and looked like it had come from a factory (nothing like the picture on the website, which is how it used to be, it was also full of sugar and almost raw). Korma just tasted of sugar and the portions only contained a few pieces of meat. We received tiny plastic bags of rice, instead of the usual takeaway box. The chapatis smelt and tasted of raw flour. We had to chuck the whole meal and order a pizza. Shame on you!

Arguably best takeaway place on the city. That allows you to eat in as well.

Alhamdullilah. I have been visiting this Govanhill institution since I was 18 years old. I am now 32. Never been disappointed. In'shallah I revisit it soon.

Ordered my takeaway on Saturday and was told 15 minutes, when I arrived was made to wait 30 minutes and I could see me order being given to someone that just came in to get a takeaway, but the food was great.

Eat here on a regular basis and enjoy the courtesy of the staff, the huge variety of the food is freshly cooķed and served by the efficient and friendly staff.Nothing is too much trouble and takeaway boxes can be supplied if you feel that you can't finish your meal there and then.Great food , brilliant service at good prices. Look forward to next visit.

Nice tasty kebabs and good customer service

Exquisite food ranging from the biryani, vegetarian to the meat dishes. Reshmi starter is a go to. If your wondering why ive mentioned so much, its because i took a fair few tubs back home for the fridge.

Ordered a mixed kebab for collection, went to pick up my order after half hour, as was told it would ready by then. Got there to pick up my order, and they hadn't even put it on wtf . Yaadgar your food is decent and nice. But your time and service is absolute rubbish. Kebab not even put on for collection and it wasn't busy when I got there. All in all BS service .

When trying to order from the website it’s hard to use and not very organised then once we had the order I tried to pay but it was requiring me to sign in so I signed in but then it was asking me to confirm an email but it wouldn’t send an email for me to confirm. So I decided to phone the place for the order and the man bluntly said you have to order it online. So I eventually drove down to the place to order and after an hour wait the man practically threw the food at me and when I got home, part of my order was missing after all of that.

I visit Yadgar whenever I am in Glasgow city. I will make excuses to go for lunch or buy a carry out meal. My most recent visit was to celebrate Fathers day with my wife and sons and their respective partners and two grandsons. We ordered a large range of dishes which were all cooked fresh for us. As it was a special occasion I indulged myself and had fish pakora as a pre meal snack (LOL) then sikh kebab as my starter, both are well made, the pakora was crispy and well seasoned and the kebabs were well cooked but moist and flavoursome. I moved onto my mains and I had a Keema curry with a peshwari Naan bread. Again all fresh and delicious. I can easily award five stars to this restaurant the staff are helpful and the produce is well cooked and attractive. It is outwardly a Kebab shop with seating but "little gems are found in the smallest corners". The shop is never empty and if I have one complain it is that it can be too busy and the service slows to accommodate all of the cooking going on, but that is small price to pay for such good food. I am due back on Wednesday 30th of June and can't wait. Value wise we paid £98:00p for ten starters, eight mains and various breads plus copious amounts of soft drinks. working out at roughly £12:00p a head this was a good deal.

Absolutely amazing, authentic, fresh and very tasty. Lovely fresh creamy korma, with lots of juicy chicken and lovely fresh coconut, lamb Karahi spicy tender and fresh, lovely fresh chapati and beautiful light and fluffy naan. Veg biryani absolutely delicious. Really good value, nice friendly delivery driver. Ten out of ten.

The pictures and food were nothing like each other ... kids were excited but on receiving the food came home and gave it was very below average and bland food . Hated my mixed kebab didn’t ask for doner meat as pic shows nothing of the sort !! I throw in bin was awful . And the mince paratha had 2% mince and 85% oil with a little flour to keep it together. It was again binned . £49 for a meal half binned ! Do a favour and go elsewhere.

I was introduced to Yadgar by a friend of mine who’s family would originally be from Pakistan. I order food to take home around once every month and I live more than 20 miles away. It’s quite simple, if you want to try perfect authentic Pakistan food. Don’t go anywhere else. This place is an institution that I never knew about but had driven past for decades. I feel as though I’ve cheated myself!

Never had a bad meal in 10+ years always fresh, beautiful and such reasonable priced. Still secretly hate it dosent do deliveries but they have enough custom crom both Pakistani and scottish alike.

Although not the fanciest establishment the food speaks for itself, quick, easy, cheap and very good eating ! Great selection of meat and veggie options and the only draw back is not having a cold beer to wash it down.

I have been visiting this restaurant/take away for approx 32 years :) We went when I was a little girl with my parents. Then once I started to drive I could drive there on my own. Once I started uni I went with friends. When married I went with my husband. Now I visit with my husband and kids :) I love the lamb donner kebab with nan salad and sauce, side portion of chips. We have also tried the mince pizzas and they are fab. My husband loves the seekh kebab, my son loves donner kebab and also the curry n nan. Clean, fast service. I love the food being served in the paper rather than a plastic container like they do in other shops

Quality traditional Pakistani restaurant with plenty of choices. Quality and good priced meals. Loved by locals, don't look for any further if you need to feel up yourself!

We have visited here for the last 25 years or so and never been disappointed with the food - it has consistently been the best place to eat in Govanhill. Polite request is please ask customers if they want to add salt n vinegar on chips, as this is the norm rather than the exception. Also would be nice to have a fork without having to ask for one.

El personal de Yadgaar no puede proporcionar un servicio básico. Pido 2 pizzas grandes y solicité específicamente no colocar las coberturas como lo harían normalmente y poner un poco de cada una sobre la pizza, pero al parecer esto fue demasiado para el personal. El error que cometí fue que no los revisé cuando me los dieron. ¡No compraré pizza allí otra vez! !

Best authentic Pakistani food In Glasgow. Very well priced, all food cooked to the proper recipe unlike most indian/Pakistani restaurants which use the same base sauce for everything

La persona/propietario que tomó el pedido no parece muy acogedor y causado mi pedido para llevar incluso después pidiéndole que repitiera lo que había pedido. Cuando volví a mi hotel de 2 principales cosas faltaban de la orden. No se puede pedir a llamar o volver y decirles que el hotel estaba bastante lejos de este tipo de restaurante de comida para llevar.

No es un restaurante ni una cafetería pero un kebab shop con asientos y mesas. Sin embargo, excelente comida y una muy amplia variedad de menús. Tuvimos Misa del gallo Samosas, pollo pakora, verduras pakora y pescado pakora para empezar, y todos eran geniales. Compartimos los principales de tandoori, cordero y fuente mixta de espinacas y pollo tikka achari. Más que suficiente para nosotros tres con dos arroz frito y dos excelentes panes Nan. La única decepción fue que era bastante alas de pollo seco. Una gran fiesta y mucho más en el menú, que trataremos en nuestra próxima visita. La zona de mesas con servicio de mesa era lo suficientemente ocupados, pero el llevar fue constante y esto es siempre una buena señal. Recomiendo una visita.

No fuimos con la esposa para un almuerzo y nos quedamos muy decepcionados. La comida siempre ha sido excelente en las últimas décadas.

I like this cafe, I’ve been a number of times. You can order from a menu, but I’ve found that ordering dishes from the display which they just heat up has been better for me. Seems more traditional food which I love.

Most crap food i had in my life rude staff half cooked lamb chops with smell in them when i told them they not cooked and meets goan off they just ignored me dont go there trust me

Yendo a "yaddies" como se le conoce cariñosamente como ya camino de vuelta en los años 90. Este lugar siempre trae consigo una sonrisa, la comida es para morirse. Pollo karahi es impresionante bien vale la espera de 45 minutos. Gracias a Shakoor y su equipo. Chapeau chicos. No puedo recomendar lo suficiente.

Yo no estoy seguro de que este es el lugar en el que de hecho fuimos a pero como puedes publicar cualquier cosa que quieras en tripadvisor, pensé que le daría una calificación de 5 estrellas, este lugar.

Algunas de las personal universidad aquí para el almuerzo la comida es genial, hemos probado muchos platos y no han decepcionado.

He viajado tanto para el YADGAR utilizada para llevar y sentarse durante los últimos 20 años o así, no una vez me ha decepcionado.

Una de las mejores parrillas que he encontrado. La parrillada mixta y cada curry cambiantes son siempre fantásticas. El personal es agradable, único problema es casi siempre una cola!

If your ever in Gove hill Glasgow and in need of a tasty kebab, the Yadgar is definitely worth a try. We visited today (17/01/17) for a takeaway and was very pleasantly surprised and unlike other competitors in the area, they don’t charge for using your credit card. Well done Yadgar and thank you for reminding me of the capital of Pakistan.

Good food, friendly service, however, the portions are extremely embarrassing, they use the smallest containers. On the odd occasion they use a normal container it's only half full, the curries although tasty would not fill up a five year old child, yet they charge above average prices. I am a regular good customer, spent over £40 at the weekend only for us to order a pizza afterwards we were all really disappointed with the portions.Do they not realise that people use carry outs because they are hungry, at YADGAR you will not get value for you hard earned money.

This is a no fuss lovely clean place, tasty curries (oily if u into that oily curry style)- nice nan, three peeps and a bill of 26.00 pounds. Colourful rice- probly the best bit. Ehm. Need to go back..

Went to Yadgars after a friends recommendation.Got recommended 2 curries from the chef and it was pretty dissapointing. Didnt eat much cause there was too much oil. Got a meat dish and with no word a lie it was all bones.The samosas were amazing though.Was disappointed that the food were microwaved.Have to say my expectations were way too high.Dont think i would return.

Regularly visit here; am never disappointed. It has a large amount of Indian and Pakistani custom, which is always a good start. Both their biryanis and daals are to die for; can't recommend enough

If you don't want to pay a premium for expensive fixtures and fittings...then this is the place for you.Delicious curries and kebabs...and other usual Indian dishes...All reasonabley priced. They take cards, so don't worry about finding an ATM.

On first impression you might not quite get Yadgar. There's usually a big queue to get at the kebab counter and once you've squeezed past that you have to find a table yourself. It's not bad service, just relaxed. The food is excellent though.One note, although I've never had any issues with it the place could do with a bit of a clean!

I have been here a few times and each time it has been good! Got a mixed kebab which was great! Only thing thought Donna meat this time was a bit greasy! But rest of meat was nice Prob one of the best kebab places in Glasgow as I have been to many!

Brilliant seekh kebabs. As my self working for an Indian restaurant I know how the food taste likes. So cut the long story short close your eyes and without any thoughts in mind order seekh kebab and chicken kadhai. Can not beat it All the best guys see you soon in coming weeks

The Yadgar is an institution. Even for a Gorra.A proper eating house that serves up fantastic food and has a take-away attached to it.Not the most posh place I have ever been into but the welcome is heart-felt and the staff totally attentive. They make you feel special and the chefs ensure that you go away with a full belly and a desire to return.I'll keep this short and straight to the point.When a Pakistani eating house serving curry attracts the Pakistani community then you know it is doing something special.Phenomenal.

Informal cafe style eatery.I've eaten here many times, sometimes its great and sometimes its pretty poor. No reason why it should be so inconsistent, so for that reason just an average rating!

It was alright. No background music. Normal food. Wasn't as cheap as I thought. They have good naans. I went for lunch. Was empty-ish. Very small dining area.

I've been going to this place in its various guises for around 30 years. In all that time I've never had a bad meal and it just seems to get better. Outstanding dishes for me are Lamb Tawa and the Mixed Kebab. Nan breads are the best in earth. Amazing vegetarian food too. Prices are great. The only down side is its more of a cafe than a restaurant.

I don't go here often enough and always for takeaway. Low frills café style with some tables and chairs for dining in. Really good kebab,freshly made nan,just the right amount of salad and sauce. finger lickingly good. Good service from counter, gets busy.Got a good review in local press so can get busy at times. Will be back..probably a bit too often.

Wouldn't go back. Quite ignorant guys serving food was just not nice. Order was wrong plus greasy. Donner meet was that greasy when I got home it was swimming in the bag. Would I go back I would rather walk to Stirling and get a kebab.

Best Asian restaurant / takeaway in Glasgow. The lamb karahi is incredible but please note have to phone ahead (1hr min) to prepare the dish.For authentic traditional Pakistani / Asian / desi style cuisine Yadgar is up there with the best in the UK.Terrific team of workers only too happy to help / advise with dishes and also a very friendly atmosphere mixture of locals and southside regulars !
