Xing Ying in Calderdale

I've been using Xin Ying (it's not Xing Ying) for years now and I can honestly say that I have never had a bad takeaway from them. The staff are polite, the food is always hot and the portions are ample - and delicious. I don't usually order food to be delivered from here (I always collect) so I can't comment on delivery times but on one occasion, I did once place an order and it came on time. Oh, and they cook THEE best salt and pepper king prawns that you will find in any Chinese takeaway. The prawns are massive and cooked in a light batter to perfection, served with sautéed onions, green peppers and fresh chillies. Superb.

I have ordered from this restaurant several times. Mostly we pick up the food and the food is usually hit and tasty with generous portions. We ordered tonight through just eat eat for delivery. Just eat predicted delivery of 6.15 and the restaurant changed it to 6.25 but the food didn't arrive until 6.50. The chow mein which is usually full of meat was mainly noodles with very little meat. The sweet and sour chicken in batter came in very small pieces in a plastic tub with the sauce already added. It was one soggy chewy mess. Not the usual crispy batter. Either the restaurant discriminates against just eat delivery customers or it has gone seriously downhill.

Tried here for the first time in Saturday night and did not regret it was beautiful portion sizes very good and all tasted amazing the ribs had so much meat on and the curry was so thick really good will be returning

We tried this takeaway a couple of weeks ago, fast delivery service, good value and the best Chinese food we have eaten. Everything tasted delicious. This is going to be our go-to takeaway from now on. Excellent!!

We thought we would try this Chinese due to ok reviews on just eat a we usually go to Jade Garden. All I would say is to all of the people rating this place 3/4/5 you need to go to Jade Garden and your opinion would be drastically changed. The food arrived cold, missing one of the main dishes. When calling the takeaway, they didn’t have a clue what was going on; Eventually when the missing main arrived the meal was bland/cold/dry/missing main ingredients i.e. the beef in black bean had 80% noodles and 20% beef.... who puts noodles in black beans? The duck was nice but that’s about it. I would highly recommend the people disappointed or even thinking this is a good Chinese to try Jade Garden at Haley Hill, Halifax as Xing Ying was disappointing in comparison. Do not believe the good reviews.

If you want a freshly cooked Chinese meal then this is the place to go been coming here for years and it’s so consistent. Not a long wait for delivery. Excellent food and full containers so you get your monies worth.

I ordered via JustEat last Friday, over £22 plus a £1.50 delivery fee. Starters were lovely but the mains were average. I placed another order via JustEat at lunchtime today for delivery when they opened but at 5.05pm I received a text and email to say the order had been cancelled. I’ve just rung to ask why and apparently they don’t deliver if you use JustEat. I explained they did last week to which I was told it was too far. It’s 2.8 miles and takes 9 minutes! Very disappointed. Nothing in for tea now! Perhaps now they’re more established under new ownership they don’t need JustEat any more. Unfortunately TripAdvisor won’t let me rate the service below for some reason but it would be one star.

COLD, DRY, TASTELESS REFUSED to send any more warm food and take this away!!!! Wouldn't feed it to the dogs!!! AVOID

First time I've ordered from here and it was perfect! I went slightly off menu and got the veg curry with tofu and extra chillies. It was well cooked with fresh crunchy veg and just the right amount of everything in!

Thought I'd give this place ago after stopping ordering from here over a year ago because of food quality & blandness, wish I hadn't have bothered. Please don't waste your money especially if u have any special requests for the chef because they don't read them IE: no prawns & bean sprouts in Vermacilli! Was refused refund for the manky chips but was given one because of the chefs fault of not reading the request. £2.10 for the chips too.

Defiantly the best Chinese in town, I've tried them all but this one defiantly beats all the others! Decent price, decent food!

We used to use another local Chinese take away but it went downhill so we changed to this one & its been absolutely fine. Nice friendly staff, meals ready when they say they will be & good, reasonably priced food. A+ for these guys !

This is a takeaway not a restaurant, we have been using it for a while now and find it generally good, they do make some mistakes with rice and chips so worth checking your order when you leave as we have had to go back to pick up what has been missing in the past. Today was a similar day but on this occasion they got the order wrong and my dish was like eating pasta on it's own with no sauce. I was having special chow mein and I think they had omitted to out the sauce in when cooking, I telephoned them to tell them it was not up to much and after some time they said I could come down and have it replaced, which I did, the second one was better but not up to the usual standard though why I should have to pay to collect twice when I order here I don't know. Only one poor meal in quite a few visits but with the smattering of mistakes and on this occasion my wife ordered chicken and black bean sauce with peppers and mushrooms, the peppers had been omitted. I am not sure I will be risking ordering from them any more as if you have to return every time at your own expense and time it becomes very expensive. If they had offered to bring my replacement or maybe given me a partial refund I would have been much happier to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Just tried to order takeaway from a house I am babysitting at.Because I didn't know the postcode the mam taking the order was sarcastic and rude! If he had bothered to listen he would have realised it is hard to find where I was and I wanted to meet them on the main road.What terrible customer service.They can stick it!

Got a take away twice now once last weekend that was fine food lovely but second time round this Friday night the food was poor both me and my partner had bad stomach ache all night and ended up ill all night and into the next day so will avoid this take away next time will try else where.

I'm not sure whether this place has changed hands or whether they've got a new chef, but quite honestly the food was appalling. Absolutely shocking. £43 for a takeaway on my daughters birthday - the majority of which went straight down the waste disposal.

Under new ownership. Previous orders were fulfilled well but the current management is shocking. They sent one dish which was disgusting and one dish which was completely different to what I ordered. When I rang to speak to them they refused to send the correct dish or even entertain a refund. Shockingly bad customer service. I will NEVER use this takeaway again. Where's Gordon Ramseys kitchen nightmares when you need them.

We have had food delivered three times now from here The first time it was faultless, the second time was quite poor but we thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt & try once more but alas last nights was worse than the second time. The rice was cold & dry, the chicken curry was tasteless & the chicken with cashew nuts tasted as though someone had tipped a bowl of sugar into it. Sorry we will not be using this restaurant again.

We rarely eat take always because of the general poor quality. This broke the mould. It was really good. Delivered bank on time. No complaints.

We ate here quite regular and all was OK until the night we found hairs yes HAIRS not just the 1. Obviously we do not order from here anymore. I did not call them so maybe a little unfair as I didn't give them the chance to rectify but then again would I want to eat anything further from them???? Of course not and realistically I cannot see I would have received a refund.

2 hours after ordering a delivery, still no food. Ended up cancelling. Seems to be a common issue loooking at other websites

I arrived in Halifax tired and hungry after a 5 hour traffic jam filled drive from South Wales. As it was my first time in Halifax, I consulted my trusty TripAdvisor and saw this Chinese TakeAway recommended albeit by only 3 people.Well! What a fantastic meal!! The young man behind the counter was extremely helpful, as was the delivery driver who helped me find a 24 hr petrol station so that I could buy some lager to accompany my meal. The young man also showed me where to go on a map.The food was great. I had salt and pepper spare ribs (best I've ever tasted) and the most beautiful crispy shredded beef with a special fried rice. The portions were very generous and perfectly cooked and served very quickly. I was also give a free portion of prawn crackers.I wish I didn't live so far away from Halifax because I would use this restaurant again and again.Thanks for a lovely meal guys!

We had an overnight stay in Halifax at the Travelodge on our way home to London and found this takeaway purely by chance. I only wish we had this Chinese takeaway near us, we would use it regularly, the menu is really comprehensive with English food as well as Chinese. The taste and quality of the food and portion sizes are excellent. My husband had duck and I had a Chow Mein so our choices were varied and we both really enjoyed the food . Unlike many Chinese takeaways the food was not greasy. The gentleman who served us was really friendly and helpful and provided us with plastic cutlery and something to eat from as we said where we were staying. If we had been staying longer we would have ordered something else from the menu as we had enjoyed the meal so much.

Myself, husband and our son who's 10 called in after the cinema for some tea, although the restaurant was empty bar us (probably due to time we dined) the food was fab, the child's menu offered steak which my son had and it was lovely presented really well with salad and tiger tail breadstick, our food was fresh cooked and we really enjoyed it too!! The service was great not much of an atmosphere but there was only us there ..... Will defo visit again as it was far better than we expected...

The food came really fast, the gentleman who dropped it off was polite and kind, we were given free prawn crackers.The quality of the food was excellent compared to other Chinese takeaways i have ordered from in Halifax. Hadn't heard of it before but decided to give it a try. Will be using this as my regular now! Top notch!
