Wonderful Chinese Takeaway in Wakefield

Absolutely disgusting good. Gave me and my family bad guts. Terrible in taste all what we could taste was burned food. Horrible !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reading the reviews, I wasn't expecting this to be a good takeaway, but thankfully, I was very wrong. 10/10 would recommend, everything we ordered was full of flavour and piping hot.

the assorted appetizers - burnt onion rings, dry ribs, dry wings. salt& pepper chips very greasy. bbq chicken wings - dry and came in a completely different sauce than bbq. chow mein special totally bland. All in all a very dissapointing experience. wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Was possibly the worse food I have had, the crispy duck was like mush, it was slimy and fatty not crispy at all, the vermicelli had no taste it was so bland no flavour. The curry was terrible, it tasted like it was from a packet I could make it better myself! This place has down hill the food is so poor.

Absolute joke… chicken curry was like piss, seaweed was like it had been left out a full week, spring rolls were hollow, chips were soggy, when asked for refund and driver came back for money he asked if we had eaten anything cos the bag didn’t feel ‘as full’ 😂😂 all I can say is don’t order from wonderful

Just a disgrace the chips were not fresh could tell they had been reheated, vermicelli well... not even noodles just tiny bits of broken spaghetti like noodles and with it being a “Chinese takeaway” they should know how to cook rice noodles perfectly .... and as for pork with mushrooms they just threw in garlic GRANULES not fresh garlic... only tried this takeaway as Taste of China was shut ... will NEVER order from Wonderful again it’s far from “wonderful” not a patch on Taste of China at least they use quality fresh products. Waste of £20...

Ordered in the shop this evening , despite repeatedly asking that msg and garlic be left out, they were in fact included. I can only assume that this was done to cover the awful taste of the beef, which was bitter and sour. Have used this takeaway for many years but can no longer tolerate mistakes and poor quality food. Beef chop suey was mainly onions and two pieces of pepper, very few beansprouts or bamboo shoots. Not a cheap meal any longer and will not use again. Just hoping they used the right soy sauce , otherwise this could be just the start of my complaint.

Good food but very expensive. Very quick if ordering to pick up and usually ready within 10 minutes. Big portions.

The food from here is quite nice, but I do think it's a little overpriced. However, I recommend it to friends and family.

Went in and ordered and staff was friendly and was very quick with the food (portion of chicken fried rice). Food tasted OK, but some of the chicken was quite hard and chewy (makes me think been out uncovered for a while). Gave me stomach ache not long after.

Spare ribs and pancake rolls a little greasy but nested ok, sweet sour chicken very nice all hot, first time been here will be back

Chips scabby and looked like warmed up ,special balls overcooked and burned 1 of worst chinese meals ever had.

£25 spent for the worse Chinese food I’ve ever had the king prawn satay was like soup with 5 prawns the noodles was so dry the salt and pepper chips and salt and pepper chicken had a paprika salt all over them do not order food from this place I would give it a -10 star rating absolutely garbage food

Just wasted £35 not one thing was edible it was absolutely awful and I am currently trying to get a refund as we haven’t been able to eat it .

Ordered from here a few times and never had a problem. Ordered duck pancakes this evening and there was mould growing on the salad, which was also starting to break down and was very watery and slimy. Also the duck was clearly not fresh.

Nearly 2 hours after ordering I'm still waiting for my delivery despite 2 chase up phone calls. Appalling service. I can't review the food as I haven't any!

Orders a chines through just eat from Wonderful in Normanton, I have very fond memories of nibbling on some chicken balls many moons ago so o wanted to relive my youth and taste those juicy balls again! Unfortunately the ‘food’ that was delivered failed, by some margin, to tickle my tastebuds and conjure up memories of those wonderful ball chomping days. I went basic, chicken curry - really thin and weedy, chicken balls - didn’t look like balls, more like a weird effigy made of batter. The chips were ok - everyone loves Chinese chips! There’ll be a couple of pints of water by the bed tonight due to the excessive use of MSGs, but overall I was left sad and disappointed.

Nearly £20 for special in black pepper sauce which didn't even taste like black pepper sauce more like spicy tomatoe sauce. Fried rice which was bland and dry. Prawn toast which i can't really describe the taste of but doesn't taste like any prawn toast I've eaten before. Our lass got salt and pepper chips cold refried and a sprinkling of seasoning on them no onion or anything in them.Only ordered because it was monday and CHUN CHUN was shut, never again

Sorry to say that everything was bad from Wonderful. We ordered at 18:30 and did not receive the food until 21:00. Calling twice and both times being told its on its way when it wasn't. We ordered 2 types of curry's and we received the exact same curry twice. Not sure if it was a mistake or laziness. I hate wasting food but it was just too bland for me. And i am easily pleased with food. But it was that bad that i could not finish my food. Also, the food was luke warm. I saw the good reviews before i ordered... so i am very very surprised. Will never order from them again. Despite them having a bad day, all i got on the phone was excuses that it was a Saturday and they are busy all the sudden. Sorry but will never be returning to Wonderful. It was far from wonderful. (I have proof of the curry's looking exactly the same but they look disgusting to add them on here. Also have proof of the time of order and the time we received the food)

Meals missing. This used to happen a year ago so we stopped using them. Decided to give them another go and the first one went well, the second one missing a meal again. We phoned they said they would deliver it and over an hour later it still wasn't here so we called and told them to cancel it as all the other food was now cold. Good food if you are lucky enough to get it.

The worst Chinese I have had from them. Usually really good but disappointed is an under statement. Ordered salt and pepper chips, they had no flavour and the chips were just crispy no potato in them. The chicken wing came and was really hard and not editable, the onion ring was also very crispy. Whole meal was below average.

Disgusting service. This is the second time I’ve ordered from them, the first time was a 2 hour wait but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Yet again, another 2 hour wait. They mark it as dispatched on just eat so it looks like they have a good dispatch time and it makes it more difficult to get a refund with just eat. Cancelled the order (which was difficult to do) DO NOT ORDER! Shambles.

Terrible not wonderful, chicken chop was suey was a congealed mess and really salty. Not very nice at all.

Although the food is fine, whether you get what you ordered of not is a complete lottery. When it is wrong you wait an age, let everything else go cold and then get just the missing ingredient. Great, when thats tha pancakes for the duck starter. They literally have no clue on customer service.

Alwaxed loved this place but got a meal for 2 and got chicken curry and it tasted moremail like a chicken comma the curry tasted like coconut and also they put the chicken balls in with the spring rolls so the chicken balls tasted of spring rolls so disn't really enjoy my meal

Ordered chicken foo yung with sweet n sour sauce,the sauce was like jelly and the foo yung had no taste whatsoever it was vile,phoned to complain was told if I didn't like it dont order again.absolutly disgusting food and customer service.

Delicious, getting chubby from all this treat😂 friendly staff and luv the beef in black bean. MASSIVE proportion. Felt like I got lucky. Fast delivery. Any hate comment should be ashamed by their self. would totally recommend this!!!!!!!

VERY nice food. Open kitchen makes me feel safe about what I eat. Big proportions and friendly staff. If you want big proportion and well cook food this place is for you.

Awesome food,polite staff and clean kitchen. Been a costumer here for 3yrs and they have never once let me down. Reasonable price and MASSIVE portions. I even save the staff pressing the food down when it was over the top. Would total recommend it to others. And please feel ashamed of yourself if you gave it a 1 star cause it deserves much MORE than that.

Food was awful. All of it. I had chicken in lemon sauce, the chicken was chewy and clearly wasn’t fresh I ate two pieces and gave up, the sauce was tasteless. The chips were ok. My mum had half a roast chicken. Now it came in a little bag, no gravy as ordered, the chicken had obviously been cooked before and saved them chucked in the fryer and sent to us. My mum couldn’t eat it she said it was the worst food she has eaten. My husband who eats anything couldn’t eat it. He had noodles which he said were tasteless and crispy shredded chicken in peaking sauce and he said it wasn’t nice at all. It’s the worst Chinese I’ve had for some time! I do not recommend

Tried this place out a few times for family takeaway meals. Decent quality with reasonable prices. Got it wrong a few times but sorted it out without question.

Had a takeaway from wonderful in Castleford. The food was lovely and portions massive . Def will be ordering again

First meal I ordered from here was beautiful then next time I ordered they got my order completely wrong and they blamed me for that.just ordered again , they forgot prawn crackets so whilst waiting for them to arrive I bit into what was supposed to be chicken ball was prawn covered in batter so tried another to find little chunks of burnt fat .absolutely discusting will never eat from there again.

Nice food here cooked fresh to order you can see the chefs cooking in the open kitchen which is good and the staff are helpful &polite; and the prices are reasonable too I reccomend this shop to new customers.

I've given this Chinese 3*. Sometimes it is fantastic and worthy of 5* but sometimes it's poor and only worth 1*. It has gone down hill since it first opened and it did loose it's 5* health and hygiene rating a couple of years ago. Not sure what it is now though. The kitchen is open so you can watch them cooking. The chips are really nice and crunchy and some of the meals are nice most of the time. Just too inconsistent now.

Majority of food was reasonable however the Duck dish was terrible - the meat tasted as if it was "off". As a result we felt it was unsafe to eat and did not feel safe to eat any of the other dishes. Therefore the whole lot went in the bin!

Ordered our food for delievery they rang back 50 minutes later and said that they won't be delivering food we had to pick it up which we was us able to pick up as we dont drive was disgusting service!

The chicken fried rice was lovely, it was a shame about the curry sauce. The oil had separated and it was all over the top. The salt and pepper chicken could do with more salt and pepper, it was just like plain fried chicken.

Food was late, curry was pretty bad and the sweet and sour chicken balls are mostly batter hardly any chicken, sweet and sour sauce was cold. Won't order from here again :(

Waited an hour longer than told. When food arrived it was rubbish and cold. But the guy on the phone was nice.
