Champagne afternoon tea booked in advance as part of a visit to Wimbledon. Disappointing that despite prior booking tables were allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. The food and drink were first class, but very expensive for the quantities served, and payment (including service charge) taken at time of booking.

I have to admit to being more than a little disappointed. £100 for the champagne tea. Four finger sandwiches and a scone each plus two small cakes each. Oh the £100 includes £24 for two small glasses f champagne. Don’t drink it all at once! Take two sips… I appreciate that this is Wimbledon tennis but way overpriced for what it is. Service was nonexistent!

We visited the Wingfield restaurant yesterday. 2023 Championship opening day, as a treat. £110 each so not cheap. Pulled ham terrine, was actually a ballontine. Poached cod main course was cold on a cold plate. Cheese board had the preserve missing. Nobody realised ! Took 25 mins to rectify! Chef could not find the preserve. The cheese board came with grapes that looked a week old and the celery stick was not pealed! Very poor experience, very disappointed. Chef would not last 5 mins in my old kitchen!

My friend and I often book in for the Wingfield’s afternoon tea when lucky enough to be drawn out of the public or LTA ballots and attend the Championships. We did this yesterday [day one, 2023 tournament]. We had pre booked so were able to skip a quickly gathering queue up the familiar steps. We checked in [about the third lot of people there] and were told where our table was and led to it. There was an issue with table positioning which, after an elongated discussion with three different people, was resolved to our acceptance. After a short wait, the orders were taken and a few minutes later, our afternoon tea arrived. It had all that was on the menu, though I didn’t like the fact that we both paid the price for the afternoon tea but the 4 cakes listed on the menu were “shared” between the two at the table. I believe if you pay full price each, you should have the full quota of cakes each. Additionally, the menu includes strawberries and cream, though when I queried where they were [as they weren’t brought with the rest of the stuff], the young waitress didn’t think they were part of the afternoon tea. I put her right and they were duly brought to the table. The cost of the AT has gone up by just short of 50% since 2018. Whilst recognising everything is going up and what we all have to endure in the shops in the modern day, I feel nowadays when leaving the restaurant that for the price, it’s not bringing as much feel good and satisfaction as it used to do. This was the most disappointing aspect of what was otherwise a great day at The Championships.

The tickets for this year were '' re balloted '' as many were unable to take up their 2020 allocation. We ere offered and accepted Men's Final, which we were lucky with in 2019 too. A very special treat again as we dined here in 2019 and thought the experience was extra special, so again for 2022. A warm welcome - the ambience is just superb, service was with '' Bronte '' who looked after us throughout always topping up my ' vino '' Starter - smoked salmon, Main - Sea Bass, Dessert - Lemon Tart, then Coffee. Beautifully presented, and delicious throughout. The Brass band played below too. Yes Yes is is expensive, sometimes in life we owe ourselves a treat or two !!!

Came here for lunch during the off-season while at the £25 Wimbledon grounds tour. As a vegetarian, I was hesitant initially looking at the beef pasties and sandwiches but was pleasantly surprised at a vegetable pasty and soup option. The pasty was hot and burnt the roof of my mouth (worth it) and the carrot-squash soup was excellent. A large holiday latte served with mini biscuits completed a sumptuous lunch after a long walking tour all around the 18 courts and Henman hill (or is it Murray mound now?). The seating is open and airy and the charging stations right outside the cafe are a useful option. A random addition, the Buddhapadhipa temple is a 10 min walk from the grounds and very worth a trip.

We booked the Wingfield for lunch on 14 July, Men's Finals day, and paid £183.90 in advance for two people. We arrived at 11.45 and were shown to a tiny table at the back, next to the kitchen and gossiping waiting staff. We were offered red, white or rose wine without any further description. All were served at room temperature. We both had rose and asked for ice cubes to cool it down. I had 'Symphony of Heritage Tomato with basil and mascarpone' to start. The symphony consisted of three slices of tomato with a very unpleasant slice of jellied tomato puree. The mascarpone was in fact two small mozzarella balls. My partner had Hoisin Mackerel. It was dry and came without the advertised black rice and buckwheat. For main course we both had the half lobster. It was tiny, overcooked and rubbery and came with tired old salad and grey potatoes which I would guess had been cooked several days before. The whole dish was covered in a sauce which was advertised as tomato, herb and sherry dressing but tasted of tomato ketchup and vinegar. Certainly the worst lobster dish I have ever been served in a restaurant. For dessert we were told that the advertised strawberry Eton mess was unavailable (no strawberries at Wimbledon?!) so I had chocolate mousse with tinned mandarins (advertised as charred mandarins). My partner had a white chocolate mousse and enjoyed it but would much rather have had the strawberry dessert. The whole experience was really disappointing, and we felt completely ripped off. Don’t waste your money here, there are many better (and cheaper) food outlets at Wimbledon.

I booked in advance of our visit to centre court for the men's finals. We had a very nice welcome, but it was downhill from then on I'm afraid - although I do not fault the table service at all. My mackerel and ham starter was OK althouh a little tired, the fish rather pasty. We both had our pre-ordered lobster salad, and this was just terrible! and at a £10 supplement each it was grossly overpriced. The half lobster, segemented in its shell, was small and not flavourful. The salad potatoes were grey, with some dark spots, so most unappetising. The whole dish was covered with waves of a salad dressing that tasted artificial and spoilt it. We complained about the potatoes, but all that happened was that a waitress delivered a message from the chef to the effect that the potatoes had to be like that. The included wines were not in the fine category at all - we could have bought decent wines at a price that appeared to give no allowance for the fact that wines were included in the deal - we declined this option. Overall, very poor value. The only good thing was that it was located conveniently for centre court.

Paying £26.00 per head for afternoon tea is a choice and a day out at Ladies’ final day is a bit special so it’s the sort of thing you do with the intention of enhancing the whole experience. In fact the cafe itself is nothing to write home about and the afternoon tea, though pretty good, lacked the ‘wow’ factor. Service was very attentive; the kids they get in for Wimbledon fortnight do a great job. So, anticipating a £52.00 bill, it came as a bit of a surprise to have an extra £5.20 added as ‘gratuities’. Didn’t quibble as didn’t want to embarrass our young waitress, and as she’s probably a student, hope she gets it all - but given the prices it’s a bit cheeky to say the least. On a positive final note - pleasantly surprised by the quite ‘normal’ prices at the other food outlets on-site.

We have enjoyed lunch in the Wingfield restaurant on previous visits to the tournament and so decided to have afternoon tea today. Big disappointment! The staff were great in seating us but the very poor mediocre soggy sandwiches and two tiny flat scones left a lot to be desired. The tea was served more fast food cafe rather than in a traditional style which one would expect given the location and price charged for the afternoon tea. Four petit cakes topped the sandwich/cake stand with no detail to arrangement. All in all, very disappointing.

Whenever we've had Wimbledon tickets over the past 12 years or so we've lunched here and always thoroughly enjoyed it. This year (our first since 20216) we still enjoyed the experience and being able to sit at an outside table and watch the world go by below, but were unimpressed by a few things that have changed. Service was still friendly and paced perfectly to get us to our first match on time, but the menu options were not as appealing and, given how much the basic price has risen over the past few years, the £10 surcharge for the lobster special seemed hugely excessive for a very small portion of lobster served with a few bits of lettuce and not much else.

Our first time at Wimbledon and we had booked The Wingfield to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Having read yesterday’s review we were nervous that we may be disappointed, but we were very pleasantly surprised. We too were booked for 11.30, arrived 15 mins early and were happy to wait that short time to be seated. All the staff were polite, smiling and welcoming. The tables were set beautifully with cream linen and purple napkins, fresh flowers, silver cutlery. We sat on the outside terrace and were served quickly by Jack who was friendly and attentive. Wine was very good and glasses topped up regularly. Food was delicious. We spent a leisurely 2 hours over lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Apparently there had been a few problems on the opening day as they had no opportunity for a dry run, so some new staff were in at the deep end and table allocation using iPads had a few gremlins. Management were determined to put things right and we certainly found little to criticise. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The waitress was very good, pleasant and professional. We felt we were the only people she was serving. The food was good and we were served quickly but not rushed. The only issue was our table was outside and near the blinds and when it rained it became a little wet. However, they soon moved our table in order to protect us from the rain. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. Champagne is included and was refilled quickly. It is quite a quick turnaround but that is so not to delay your tennis viewing. The afternoon tea was equally delicious.

One of our friends had her 80th birthday tea here as a private booking. Great cakes, strawberries (of course!) and scones. Good value too I gather @ <£10 pp. Open for the 'general public' too for lunch/tea outside Championship times.

The Wingfield is the only pre-bookable restaurant at the All England Club. Lunches are served from 11.30, to ensure that you can take your seats on one of the show courts in plenty of time for the first ball to be struck. There are several choices for each course on the fixed-price table d'hôte menu, and all of those chosen by my partner and I were absolutely first-rate. Wine is included (and one's glass is repeatedly and generously refilled by the ever-attentive staff). The service, too, is excellent: highly efficient and courteous. For the number of covers this restaurant serves at every meal, the overall quality is nothing short of miraculous. I highly recommend adding a meal at the Wingfield to your plans for a day at the Championships.

Quando visitar Wimbledon, é a opção para fazer refeições... é uma cafeteria, mas é praticamente um restaurante... os preços podem ser um pouco salgados, mas condizentes com a ambientação...

While it is a bit more expensive than other places we always eat here when in London. My family had the Sunday roast which was very good and not too expensive and I had the beautiful afternoon tea. It was lovely and a great experience.

🚇 Tooting 🍺 £5.95 Pravha The Goringe Park is located on the border between Tooting and Mitcham in Southwest London. The nearest station is Tooting mainline, the nearest Tube is Tooting Broadway. The Gorringe Park dates back to 1879, taking its name from the nearby Gorringe Park Estate which is long since been swallowed up by suburbia. This was originally a Young and Co pub, Charles Wells Pub Company purchased it from Youngs in 2012. This is a vibrant and spacious multiroom pub which is set out over three floors. The main bar is located on the ground floor and is set out in a “J” shape around a centrally located servery. The decor is bold, mixing bright colours, eclectic furniture and traditional fireplaces. In the basement is a Cinema room, upstairs is a function room called The Library which has a small bar and a contemporary decorative feel. At the back of the pub is a walled beer garden with a tiki hut. The beer line up was broad and featured familiar brands, two cask ales and beers from @brewpointuk which I’ve not seen in London before. I kept it simple and ordered a Pravha, my pint was great, price point was average. The food menu was predominantly burgers with a few traditional pub grub options, Fish & Chips costs £13.95. I arrived just after opening at 12pm and was the first punter through the doors. I was greeted by the Guv’nor who was welcoming, friendly and personable. He was kind enough to give me a tour of the pub, and he told me all about the history of the pub and what they have on. Unfortunately this pub shut its doors in the summer and it is not clear what the next step is or what the future holds. One thing is for certain, pubs are closing at a phenomenal rate across the country and need as much support as they can get. Utilities companies, landlords and the government need to do a lot more. Also, they need our support in our local communities. Use it or lose it, support your local pub where you can. 📅 13th April 2024 More London Pub info @londonpubmap 🍻
