Wimpy, Loughton in Epping Forest

I was passing having dropped my daughter off at work, completed food shopping. I was enticed by large poster of the breakfast which I ordered, safe , clean , spaced albeit younger workmen did come in to restaurant for take away orders with uncovered faces in 2s and 3s. ( one person should place orders with face covered / mask , rest should wait outside). Food was nice, service polite.

I was told that the quorn burger wasn’t vegetarian although I’d on the menu.,was told it it is cooked with the meat kind of defeats the purpose right?

Went here to eat lunch and the food was visually pleasing. The food was the same as any other wimpy’s, which makes it average however the place was clean and the staff were polite. Would recommend for a quick stop.

Not sure why Wimpy does not appear to be doing as well as their competitor's. But you get a lot more choice and for good value to. All that and you are served by staff and not machines!We visited Wimpy for a quick lunch, staff are friendly, the restaurant is clean and tidy. Chicken wings came out cold so we notified the waiter and cancelled the order. They still provided us with more hot wings and they were much better this time and we had to pay for them. Other than that it was a pretty good choice.

Brought back memories walking into a wimpy. Last time this happened must have been well over 30 years ago. Food was great. The staff was friendly. Clean overall. Will definitely go back again. McDonald’s can learn a lesson or two. Wimpy burgers far better.

I like the Wimpy in Loughton, you don't see many around any more. This one has recently been refurbished, is kept spotless by the management and the food is always well cooked. Staff are friendly and attentive too. Recommended.

Very Nice Sausages And All Day Breakfasts The Milkshakes Are Amazing My Favourite Would Be The Strawberry Milkshake

Off the cuff journey back in time was rewarded by very pleasant, personable young staff, prompt and unobtrusive service and enjoyable food. My only regret is that I wasn't able to manage a dessert or try a milk shake. Definitely somewhere to return and explore further.

Really nice food and a bit cheaper than some other places on the high street. Does get busy though so you might be best getting there early if you want breakfast as once the School runs are done it gets very busy with some just sitting drinking coffee and not eating.

Benefiting from a recent refurbishment, this is very much the American diner and if you fancy a burger better than a maccy d's. An extensive menu that has healthy choice options and contains nutritional information, great pots of tea hut my all time favourite is a quarter pounder with cheese.

Took my girlfriend here recently. So many childhood memories. Will always be the best British fast food restaurant. The double cheeseburger was fab! Fries were and sometimes crunchy, the milkshake was beautiful. Only down side was, there were no lime milkshakes. It annoys me greatly when they only add it back to there menus on rare occasions.

Went for lunch here with a friend as probably not had a wimpy for over 25 years. It still tasted good as I remember and must say would not wait another 25 years again to taste it again. Hope they keep trading as the tradition should not die as one of the first chain burger restaurants to hit the Uk back in its day.

A great restaurant, I ha met been to Wimpy for years but my partner persuaded me and it was great. Good quick service and felt is had a full meal. The food isn’t greasy and chips tasted good. We also had ice cream which was nice.

I've been eating in wimpys for 35 years and this is the best by far. The staff and friendly and the cafe' is clean . And the food is cooked very well . What more could you want

Came for dessert here as we had bad experience at harvester but pleased with the decision to do so. Good value for money. Great service with friedly staff. May have to come back for the burgers.

Young and fast paced staff, classic Wimpy food in a clean and bright environment. Waitress was very attentive and the service was quick. Can't fault them.

A pesar de estar localmente, no había estado en el Wimpy durante muchos años - sin razón para esto, simplemente, no tenía! Llevé a mi hija joven allí para cenar temprano esta semana. Personal fabuloso, restaurante muy limpio, ambiente acogedor y sobre todo, sabroso a un precio razonable, recién comida casera! En China los platos con cubiertos, en lugar de comer fuera de una caja! Verdaderamente un buen hamburguesa!! No puedo esperar a volver y sin duda no dejar tanto tiempo esta vez!! Altamente recomendado!!

We went to wimpy 3 weeks ago on a Saturday lunchtime, I remember Loughton wimpy was fantastic so it was a trip down memory lane. I never thought my memory was that bad, the chips were over cooked very little taste in the burger mainly because there was so much sauce you could not taste anything else. Then I went to pay the bill, so expensive very disappointing won't be going back.

As a family we have been eating at our local Wimpy for 7 years. I have been eating here for 20 years. Service is great, food is fresh and it's turned into a modern dining experience.The manageress is a young lady called Jess. Jess is a true ambassador of the brand and she takes time to meet her guests. Love this place.

We visited Wimpy Loughton today and as well as Wimpys usual great food and comprehensive menu the customer service was fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble and the Polish waitress was very attentive. We were stayed ages chatting and weren't hurried out, which led to my daughter eating the moist enormous slice of deliciously moist chocolate fudge cake with ice cream! What more can I say? We love Wimpy and this one is extra special.

Lets not get caught up in wether the food is top notch or if its a great place to eat. Its a Wimpy! It sells burgers, nice burgers, with a special sauce that reminds me where i am. Would i come here for an anniversary dinner? No! Would i book a table in advance to take a client? No! But if i need a reminder of my sister taking me out as a boy for a burger, before Mc'Ds or BK infected the High st, Wimpy is where i go. So if you went years ago and want to reminisce, or have never been and want a change from the "norm", track down your local Wimpy, I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised.

What's not to like, the first burger place I remember they still do the famous Quarter Pounder with Cheese and Knickerbocker Glory but lots of other new options on the menu. Fast food with a knife & fork cooked while you wait. Probably not a healthy or fashionable choice but still good once in a while ;-)

Real crockery! Real cutlery! No eating off a piece of paper on a tray, no polystyrene cups, no staff barking out orders or requests like gattling guns! The Wimpy in Loughton is really nice. It is clean and bright, cheery and with lovely staff who are attentive, polite and well-turned out. The restaurant is situated in a nice local shopping high street. If I can I sit by the window and people-watch. You know what you are getting with a Wimpy, you don't have to wonder how they will fry your chips or grill your burger. There is something to be said for this standardisation when you want to sit down for half an hour with a cup of tea and a bite to eat and not have to worry about frills

Been here a few times for lunch as it reminds me of years gone by, burger and chips with a knife and fork and a cup of tea. Staff are always really nice, can get real busy at peak lunch time. Always enjoy the food, but as fast food fix goes a little pricey, but it's a bit different and like the old formula of table service etc. worth a visit and no doubt I will again. Nice clean place.

I thought the loughton branch had gone. 20 years or more I was last there. other branches in leyton and wood green I was using had 'gone'. then someone told me loughton is still there. it taste the same as it did before ( was VERY worried about that). I'm making up for lost time by going there every chance I get. to me; there is no other food like this. yes, life is good sometimes. my god, all those years I spent eating inferior produce. now if only I had a time machine.....

I took my boy for a trip down memory lane. Sadly, I found the burger tasteless and service was very slow. I won't be returning.

Was in loughton on a training course and my senior manager wanted to relive her childhood and visit Wimpy!Food was good large portions and service to your table which I liked! Healthy options are only 1 or 2 however the calorie content of all the food is listed on the menu Would visit again ;)

I went to Wimpy when the weather was nice and we were served quickly by a friendly waiter and we sat outside in the sun. It was very nice - my partner loved his food but I thought my burger itself was a little dry, the rest of my food was lovely though! Quite small in there so getting inside when there were a few people around the counter was a challenge but then the waiter accommodated us by giving us a seat out the front.

As a kid I loved a wimpy, especially the tomato shaped sauce pots. The food was still as I remember it but the service was fake. We were the only customers in there and we seemed to disturb their chatting in order to serve us. I would go back as the food was tasty.

This place I hardly ever go to.The service was friendly but a bit disjointed but no harm done.The food was just ok, not terrible and not worthy of a complaint but if a place that is there to sell burgers in a sit down environment it would be reasonable to expect a bit more wow factor. In the 1980s they could get away with this but as I hardly ever see a Wimpy now so this must be a nostalgia venue for some, that is until they have eaten here again and come to their senses.At the end I had to chase the bill and this is not good.This place I will leave for another long while.

Feel sorry for the place. They serve burgers. Not the best burgers but constent at least.Shame you cannot smoke in there anymore. Yet probably for the best.Thanks Wimply for years of being average but dependable.

I have never visited a Wimpy before and this Saturday having a few hours to kill with my 18 month old son I thought I'd see what I am missing. Nothing absolutely nothing at all. I really do not know how it's possible to serve food this bad and still be in business. I had the cheese and bacon quarter pounder with chips and I was really glad I ordered a coke as the burger was so dry it could have been made with sawdust, the coke was flat. My son had the fish bites and chips and ate one chip before refusing to eat anything else, very unusual as I refer to him as the human dustbin. This is not just bad food as in it's fast food, it's even really really bad for fast food, the worst meal I have eaten in a long long time and I won;t be eating in a Wimpy again. The staff were really friendly though which made handing over my money a little bit easier.

My wife and I had a coffee here whilst my son had a burger. He was reasonably happy with his meal, and the coffee was OK.It is not 'fine dining' but is good as far as burger joints are concerned. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Great place! So clean with really quick service! A tad pricey though but the food is great! Would recommend this as somewhere to head and they do take aways!!!

I love this place! Whether you want a burger or a decent dessert this the only place on the High Rd to hit.The shakes are good here too, the staff have been replaced and are obviously a bit fresh faced but otherwise who can complain? Everything comes on plates, in glasses or cups and there is real cutlery.

Occasionaly visited this resturant used to be a 4 star to me but Its fast losing Its appeal. I found it to be quite enclosed and the service has gone downhill quickly! Food is lovely no faults with that but the waitresses and waitors need to smile more. They need moretraining and use their manners...
