Great food, good value, excellent service. Appreciated the table of 16 in the private dining area, more space this time, very good.

There are tables set outside with seats but they will not serve outside this evening. Why the tables? No explanation. Rather poor service then their excellent standards.

We had a lovely early evening meal here. Good range and selection of choice on the menu.., plus a specials board. Nice cozy feel to the place. A good atmosphere, with bustling bar area. Good ingredients used. Good cooking with a nice light touch on the seasoning. Friendly attentive service. A great experience.

William & Vics is a Harrogate institution, and well deserved too. The atmosphere is warm, friendly & cosy, the staff are outstanding & the food is brilliant. The early-bird deal is great value. Highly recommend. 👍

We came on 18th February for Sunday Dinner and can only say that the service was first class and the food was awsome and we would recommend to anyone.

Lovely little warm and cosy restaurant, reminiscent of a classic no frills NY steakhouse with wooden booths and candles, etc. We were actually recommended it by a random guy in a local pub and were not disappointed. Great value and a lovely atmosphere - we could have stayed here all night. We both had steak, which was cooked to perfection along with some beautiful sides. Will definitely return next time we're in town!

A lovely throw back to the restaurants of old. A pre-war feel, excellent old world wine selection and stable menu with everything one would want in an eatery. Nothing outrageous or adventurous on the menu but a strong show nonetheless.

Visited last night and took advantage of the early bird menu. Outstanding value and quality. Portions are not reduced and very generous. We had crispy chilli beef, fish chowder soup and both had home made chicken, ham and mushroom pie. Quite busy for early on a Thursday which is always a good sign. Yes service is very prompt and efficient. If you want a little extra time between courses I’d suggest asking when ordering. Fine for us but some may seem rushed.

First class dinner as always at William and Victoria. This restaurant has really stood the test of time. It's been a premiere destination in Harrogate for years, and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Food, atmosphere and service are all excellent.

Went last night to celebrate my wife’s birthday but we are regulars. Fantastic food and service as usual. Best food in Harrogate and there are some very good restaurants.

Lovely atmosphere, was always my first choice locally for family dinners and special occasions. However, on the previous three visits, vegetarian options have been pitiful. With a couple of veggies in the family, this now means we need to find a new haunt. Shame.

The most delicious meal we have eaten in a long while. The food was so tasty, very special. The service was faultless. The young waiters knew the menu inside out and were so helpful and attentive. If you're in Harrogate, this treat is not to be missed.

Beautiful food - disappointing experience. Can't fault the food - the chicken livers were cooked beautifully - the devilled kidneys to die for and the Shepherds Pie the best we've had. However, the whole experience was rushed and stressful. From the minute we walked in , the owner and another member of staff were rushing around and creating a really tense atmosphere making us feel very unwelcome. I had said on booking that this was a wedding anniversary celebration. In fact it was our 30th. Having visited before we were looking forward to a lovely evening. Unfortunately we were rushed through both courses. Ignored when asking for condiments. Glasses wipped away before we'd finished. A lovely young lady brought our bill and was very sympathetic with our disappointment. She said she would remove the drinks from our bill. However when she spoke to the owner this was apparently overruled as it didn't happen. We were so looking forward to our evening at William and Victoria. But the whole experience was rushed and tense. Such a shame as the food is outstanding

A Harrogate institution but on my last visit the table service was a bit confused, over eager to please but failing to see obvious oversights. I also found it odd to be served a main course with the gravy boat on the dinner plate surrounded by gravy. Food pretty good but not exceptional and an obviously mass-produced bought-in Christmas pudding was very disappointing.

Came for my birthday on the 18th December from grimsby and stayed at the hilton majestic been to William and Victoria every time we come to Harrogate food amazing service is second to non and thoroughly loved it and I will be back to eat here again next year keep doing what your doing it's brilliant 👏 X

Not the best, unfortunately. Don't want to elbracate as management tried to put things right by offering to cover our table drinks . We had a nice time as our family were together at a special time if year.

Excellent food & wine sharing pre Christmas meal out (lunch) with friends

Just called in on speck for a drink on the way to next door restaurant, Bar area quite small but with a nice atmosphere. Gentleman behind the bar was very polite and welcoming and on our next visit to Harrogate will definitely return for a beer.

We had lunch for 20 yesterday, in one of the private dining rooms, to celebrate a family member's big birthday, and it was just perfect. Rosie attended to our every need, plus a few we didn't know we needed, and the food was outstanding as always. Thank you, Will & Vics!

Lovely meal with great choices . Starters we had the lamb kidneys , prawns and a crispy duck all excellent. Mains were venison Wellington, ribeye and the chicken breast all cooked perfectly and decent sized portions. Drinks were very reasonable too. Great service from the staff without being intrusive. We wouldn't hesitate to go back. Busy too for a Monday which demonstrates it's a popular destination.

Came with a couple of business colleagues for dinner, good menu with some specials as well, good mix of dishes. Food was excellent and came relatively quickly, nice wines as well.

Gorgeous place with amazing food. I had the Venison Wellington, which was really delicious.

Nice atmosphere, good food, staff very good, but was too noisy for me. I am partially deaf, also could not converse with my friends, but for all the other plusses, I would most definitely go there for a meal again. As for most bars, restaurants in Harrogate, prices are not cheap, but I don't mind paying that but extra for good food, etc.

Had an excellent meal with excellent wine. Have read a lot of good reviews and it lived up to expectations. The staff were very friendly and helpful

Dined here for a birthday Sunday lunch, service was none existant. All members of my party commented on how poor it was. Luckily the kitchen were doing a good job and we all ate well. Will be unlikely to return.

Super fast and attentive service, despite being a busy Friday evening! Very cosy and tasteful space, since we dined downstairs in the pub/bar area. We got the Early Bird Special, which was a great deal considering the quality of the food! Had some haddock arancini with truffle mayo as starter, Grilled Sea Bass as main and Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert.

Great food, early bird 2 course deal well presented. Great Decor, however Daniel Craig stares at you from the poster on the wall in the ladies, a bit unnerving.

Food OK, but what really made an impression was a staggeringly rude waiter. Food and wine literally thrown at us; monosyllabic interactions; with an arrogance and attitude that was (at best) unprofessional…..which he managed to keep going all evening!

We always make a point of visiting the William & Victoria whenever we are in Harrogate. This time it was for Sunday lunch and everything was as enjoyable as ever. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit.

First visit to V&W I had tried to eat here previously but had the opening times wrong, so I was pleased to finally get in for a meal. We didn't book and the restaurant was very busy at 7.45pm however we decided to stay and have a drink whilst we waited for a table to come free, we nearly left, I'm glad we didn't the food was excellent and worth the wait. Excellent bar service whilst we waited the atmosphere was excellent bustling but that didn't affect our table service. The food we ordered came quickly and was light bites as Mum was flying abroad in the early hours and didn't want a full meal. so, we ordered the Prawn & Avocado Cocktail, Fish Cake & Tempura Prawns to share (ish) everything was spot on fresh and tasty. I'm not a lover of peppers which were in the fish cake I would have preferred Spring Onion as an alternative ingredient, but it didn't detract from the overall taste. Mum loved the Prawn cocktail, and the Tempura Prawns were delicious, I'm already planning my next visit and would highly recommend as being local I've eaten in most other establishments in Harrogate, and this is my clear favorite so far...

Superb food, good wine with brilliant attentive staff and ambiance - we are recommending to all our friends. Perfect for a cosy night out or for a group celebration.

Great for a Sunday lunch and a few drinks highly recommend. The dessert wasn't the best but the main and starters definitely made up for it!

It was a very hot night and all the tables outside were occupied, as were most of the tables inside. We were very cordially greeted by Charlie Straker and shown to a table for two in the bar area. There is a comprehensive menu and also a good selection of daily specials. My husband had the devilled lambs kidneys as a starter - something he loves and rarely comes across on menus. He then had a king prawn linguine from the specials menu. I have a small appetite and was more than content with a starter portion of Moules Mariniere and a side order of homemade chips. The starter portions were generous and the moules were plump and delicious. My husband loved both his dishes. With a bottle of Versant Viognier the bill came to £76.35 and it was well worth it! Excellent service from professional staff too!

We dined at Will and Vic's on Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We advised David behind the bar of our wine preferences and budget and he delivered perfect wines! The food portions were very generous for the prices and tasted amazing! Highly recommend !

Entertaining with friends at the weekend and this was our go-to favourite restaurant. It did not disappoint from the welcome at the bar to the service and amazing food - the favourites were the devil kidneys, duck salad, roast beef and the tuna !! All meals were exceptional. The time spent talking and choosing the wine just made the evening all the more enjoyable. Thank you !!

I thought I had posted this at the time, but got a bit distracted. Having read such moany reviews recently , I felt I had to post my review as a long standing very, very happy client. We have been going William and Victoria for over 30 years. It's one of our absolute favourite places to dine. So much so that when we married on Valentines day this year(2023) , Will & Vic's was the only choice for our wedding lunch. Fabulous choice on the menu, there were 21 of us in total, the service was extemporary and the meal was the usual fabulous quality and standard that we always have enjoyed. Well done David and your team, continued quality and service with happy smiling faces. See you in a week!!

Sunday dinner was poor - beef was rubbery and fatty Garlic mushrooms were without garlic I don’t like giving bad reviews - we were looking forward to the experience and had read other reviews - think they need to source the beef from somewhere else as worse piece of beef I’ve had in a restaurant

Lovely staff, efficient service, great atmosphere. We had the early bird menu, food was nice and we will come back in due course to sample the a la carte menu.

Having read all the reviews we thought it would be a treat to eat here. The food was of a good standard & portion size, however we were let down in the fact it was more like eating in a small pub, unlike the photos shown on the website. The young gentleman waiters tried there best but a bit sloppy on table service. Shame it could have been a better experience

We went to try the food prior to booking a table for a birthday celebration. We opted for the special lunch menu. The service was fast and efficient. We had attentive staff at all times. The food was tasty and the whole experience was pleasant.

We arrived when the inside was all fully booked but were offered either an outdoor table or a bench at the bar. We opted for the outdoor table which worked really well - it’s next to the road but didn’t feel too busy (Friday evening). Waiters were all super attentive throughout, felt very well looked after, especially when we asked to move along by one table when it started to rain and the waiter without prompting re-organised the new table to put it right under the heat lamp and to set it up for 2 rather than 4 - perfect! Food was fantastic - pork belly was the best I’ve had - lots of meat with little fat and large piece of crackling on top, and the hake was also great. Nicely finished with a cheeseboard to share and a great bottle of wine!

I was recently asked to do a talk for a ladies business networking lunch on using video in business. I have to say that the venue was fantastic and the food was incredible and I will be back for a non-business related lunch the next time I am in Harrogate, wonderful and highly recommend it.
