Used to love this chippy till my last visit. Cold tasteless chips. Fish had hardly any cod in it. Bit into it and all i could taste is the grease in the fish.Unfortunately i won't be going back. My wife had the same experience. Shame. I don't normally write a bad review. Maybe we was unlucky!

wigmore fish and chip shop takeaway is absolutely sublime in quality and service, very friendly staff who obey strict covid restrictions even though they are working in the heat. the fish and chips is the most delicious in the town by a mile! will definitely keep ordering

Ordered 3 portions of cod and chips and jumbo sausage. Fish was ok but batter in places so hard it was inedible. Chips were definitely not freshly cooked,, they had obviously been sitting around a while. Got home to find my order was incomplete - jumbo sausage missing. Called 3 times to get a refund but no reply so gave up. Needless to say that i will not be returning. My visit was on 29/12/20 at 17:43. Order number 100.

This has become my once a week take away , ok you have to wait while it’s cooked but a small price for the Quality . Best plaice or Haddock around . Thank you keep up the good work

Great fish and Chips as always. I visited Wigmore Fish and Chip Bar on Friday 6th November as usual it was packed with people waiting for orders etc. Good Fish and Chips at a reasonable price. Alway clean and bright.

Fantastic food. Excellent service. Great system in place for social distancing . I had the vegetarian pie. The pastry was beautiful. The waiter and waitress were friendly and polite. Thank you

The service was rather slow. Main course took 20 minutes which wasn'nt too bad but after the dessert menu was brought, they then seemed to forget about us. After 15 or so minutes we called for the waitress and advised her that we had waited so long that we didn't want to wait any longer for dessert. Altho l like crispy chips, some others of our party did not. The chips may have been cooked twice, not sure.The music was very loud and rather monotanous. Usually at lunchtime people meet up to chat & eat. Difficult to do over loud music.I ate in this restaurant last week at night and preferred it to the lunchtime experience.The Covid secure measures in this restaurant are good.

What was once a great takeaway has now fallen from grace but still believes that its reputation demands a high price. Pictures cant lie and I’m afraid i agree with other recent concerns. It maybe that eat-in at the take away shop may look ok but ... you decide £8.50 for this hardly represents the picture supplied by the establishment. Don’t be fooled by the chips , at the bottom were the scag ends which meant they were the first scoop of food And deliberately chosen to bulk out the meal

Went here for food on the way to an airport hotel, nice clean and modern restaurant. Good menu and drink options and we really enjoyed the meal and would go again if we lived local. Good, sound covid procedures too.

Tried this place on a tip from a friend. Chips were nice but the plaice I ordered was so small that it was not a full meal for me, a moderate eater. Quality of the fish was very good but unless they start to serve reasonable fish portions, I will go elsewhere.

Had a lovely evening out- 6 of us... great value for money and food was very very good! Service was great, friendly attentive staff - great night!! Totally recommend.

Been waiting for a long time to visit my favourite Luton restaurant, an it didn't dissapoint,the whole family ordered fish an chips and it was cooked to perfection, batter nice n crispy, cod lovely an white an tasted beautful, chips were nice an chunky,then we all had a dessert each what else but the best cheese cake ever, Barbara sure knows how to bake. As always staff were very pleasant an polite, must mention all the safety procedures put in place, face mask, sanitisers, 1 metre distance between tables, floor marking, felt very safe an comfortable, can't wait till our next visit, see you soon guys

Went here for breakfast and first time out for a meal since lockdown.had called the day before to book a table. All staff wearing a masks,sanitiser for customers coming in,screens between tables, only the cutlery for the number of seats in pots and covered in new plastic bag before ready for customers. Ordering done via a scanned QR code, i was able to download a QR scanner quickly and ordering seamless, so need to visit the counter.The staff were all welcoming, friendly and efficient. The veggie breakfasts are the best, large portion, freshly cooked and so tasty.Not only a great first experinece out, feeling safe but a delicious, great value breakfast.Thank you.

Looking forward to this restaurant reopening enjoyable meal but disappointed with the Covid policy i.e.No mask or vision when serving you,knife and forks were still in the container to help yourself unsure who touched them before you and tables wasn’t wiped with a throw away towel the screens were not sufficient and there wasn’t 1 metre between each table.

This is not our cloesest chippy but is the only one in Luton we use. Consistantly high standards, a great range of fast food in addition to fish and chips and they have won loads of awards.

After ordering large cod and chips, was very disappointed to get what seemed like a battered sardine and chips. I have eaten a lots of fish n chip takeaways in my time, but this was the smallest "large" cod i have received in a long time. What was a shame is the fish was never this poor. On previous visits, the large fish was exactly that......a large fish! Worth paying the money. Sorry...not any more.

Been a regular here for about a year. The quality of the chips has always been excellent.However the size of the fish portion size has been over time radically reduced. In the last visit it was not worth the premium paid and the size of fish was about the size you would get in a supermarket ready meal. The lack of a decent size of fish impacted the quality of the frying of it.Unfortunately I will not be visiting this establishment again on the basis of this less than mediocre effort.

It was our first visit and we found the food fantastic. I had grilled fish with salad and chips. My fellow diner had steak & ale pie and mash. The service was quick and the food was truly enjoyable. Friendly staff too. We will certainly go there again

Visited for a friends birthday, I never knew this place was here (although I have seen the takeaway around the corner). We ordered all our meals separately, but they all came out together, despite the large group 10-12. The food portions were really good, and they tasted really nice.This place is an unexpected gem, will definitely return.

Just had a meal at this restaurant. My wife and I both had the scampi & chis with bread and butter for the over sixties Cannot fault anything from ease of parking, the service and the price. I highly recommend this place.

I been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. The staff are always helpful and friendly, the service is excellent and the food is fantastic. They cater for everyone. Fabulous.

I only discovered this place in November last year and it had been there for about a year before that. Since then I have been there for breakfast lunch and dinner on various occasions. I love the decor, the staff and nice and it’s always great food. I do wish they did some chicken dishes and that they did table service rather than going to the bar to order but other than that small gripe I thoroughly recommend the place and you must go for breakfast the pancakes are amazing!!!

If you are in Luton I highly recommend this restaurant which is close to Luton Airport, the management team have created a world class restaurant in an otherwise unremarkable area of Luton.

Went there at 2100 on the 25th .Plenty of food in the hot display. Ordered 2 fish cakes and a med chips.Got them back to work The chips were 80% dried up hard and discoloured totally inedible. Fish cakes were grey in colour inside and tasteless..The food ended up in the bin as it would have cost more in time , fuel and effort to take it back.What a waste of time and money going to this place . Never going there again.Give it a wide berth much better places

Had afternoon tea here this afternoon and it was lovely. The set up was amazing and the food was lovely. It was a really delicious, proper afternoon tea, with finger sandwiches and individual cakes. The staff were great and clearly took pride on the work that they do which came across throughout the afternoon. The whole afternoon was great!

I’ve visited here for lunch and dinner with my family and both time the service and quality of food was good. Whilst it’s a fish and chip restaurant they do other foods and the chicken kebab was delicious as was the strawberry ice cream milkshake!

Went here for the first time for a Christmas catch up with some friends. We are all from luton and been wanting to come for some time. 2 of us had scampi and one had calamari, we also tried the battered halloumi and the frickles. All really lovely, great portions, lovely and hot and fresh. They provided lovely little pots of sauces which was a nice change. Reasonably priced with a lovely atmosphere. I will defiantly be bk again

Went here for breakfast with with 3 others. we ordered 3 full English and 1 vegetarian breakfast. The 3 full English arrived promptly but the Vegetarian breakfast took a lot longer to arrive.

Visited mid-week. We live locally but had avoided going to this restaurant as we thought it would be like a bit basic as a lot of fish n chip diners seem to be. I must say we were very pleasantly surprised - the restaurant decor and overall ambience was of a high standard. The staff are very polite and explained the food ordering process very clearly. I ordered a small cod and chips and my husband ordered the cheeseburger and chips. All the food was very fresh, beautifully lightly battered and delicious. We asked for a jug of water which came with sliced cucumber in it - that was gorgeous and different from the usual plain or water or a bit of lemon chucked in. My only feedback would be that my plate was a bit small for the amount of food on it which made it a bit tricky to eat without tipping it off onto the table. Also, we had no cutlery on the table but these are small things. The Christmas decorations were very pretty and we would definitely return here again.

Went with the family Saturday nite, I ordered a cheese burger an chips, my wife had fusion fish an chips, an my daughters both had veal sovlakia, the atmosphere was buzzing,the Christmas decorations were a nice touch, although very busy the food arrived quick, an was nice an hot, the staff were as all ways very pleasant an service was with a smile, the lovely Barbara couldn't do enough for us, this lady knows how to be front of house, everything she does, she does with a very pleasant smile and a great attitude, as all the staff do, must mention the main man behind the grill Antoni this guy really knows how to cook, can't wait to visit again, give this place a try you won't be disappointed

Toke my wife an kids for a family meal, I choose the fish an chips as did my wife, my daughters had the veal sovlakia, the fish was as always well cooked with a nice an crispy batter, the girls veal was well cooked an very flavoursome. After our main course we all order the now famous barbaras cheese cake 1 word comes to mind wow, the service was fantastic with panny an Barbara making sure everything was OK, this restaurant just gets better an better, best in luton, keep up the good work guys

Another great visit today. Family party of 20, including kiddies, staff were amazing. Nothing too much trouble, food was gorgeous and all food served at same time. Couldn’t ask for better service. First time visit for most of our family, they all said they’d be booking to dine here again. Perfect family Sunday lunch

No plaice available despite being a fish restaurant!

First visit to this place and can certainly say we will be returning. The service was fantastic, Ruby and Ella were wonderful, very polite waitresses. The food was fantastic, came quickly and tasted lovely. Highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning.

We regularly buy takeaway fish and chips from the shop at Wigmore but recently the standard has slipped.

The food here was really good freshly cooked and nicely presented, would go again. Parking was easy so that was a plus. Not many good places to eat on Luton so this one is one to return to.

I recently went to restaurant with a group of friends. My wife and I arrived first and ordered drinks at counter. I was disappointed that I was unable to start a "tab" so that others could order drinks when they arrived. (On two previous group occasions a staff member had taken both our drinks and food orders and included on a tab) We also had to go to counter and order and pay for food at the time. Likewise when some of us required more drinks.

Visited on saturday evening with my family - had the Vegetarian souvlaki and it was delicious! Amazing portion sizes and the food was great! Lovely atmosphere and quick service. Can’t wait to go again!

I have visited this restaurant twice this week as it is close to where I work. The first time we visited earlier this week, we ordered something and after waiting 10 minutes, we were told they had run out and asked to order something else. We then requested a refund.

Best Fish & Chips in Wigmore. Clean food which is nice and crisp. Not Geasy and Oily like other shops. Fish tastes fresh. Good place to eat.

This has become a firm favourite for breakfast or lunch. Today i had the veggie breakfast. It was up to the usual high standard, all cooked fresh to order, eggs with a bright yellow/orange yolk and very flavoursome. Mushrooms juicy and tasty. Generous portions. Its a modern restaurant, with friendly and helpful staff. Great value too.

Went in on the off chance today, most tables were reserved but they found us a free one. Extensive menu including lots of healthy options. I had a grilled fillet of Sea Bass with a green salad, and the other meal was an avocado salad. Both were delicious. You order and pay at the bar, and the waiting staff were friendly and helpful. Nice ambience. For some reason, the lights kept going up and down which was a bit strange, but other than that it was an excellent lunch.

Visited during the week, was not that busy, nice atmosphere and very clean, had the cod & chips, fish very good , chips good but could have been done a bit more. would recommend.

Have been here a few times. Good, efficient, friendly service, good menu and tasty food. I recommend the Sunday roast and the house salad with chicken.

This is one of Lutons finest chippies, if you get the chance well worth a visit. Would have given 5* but the staff are a wee bit miserable.

A wide selection of very good food and drink, served by friendly staff in a nice location, with plnty of off strre parking.

I have been coming here for years and always had great service and food.

Today I had the best piece of Plaice I have ever had absolutely outstanding , I can’t say more than that.

We were a large party and everyone really enjoyed the food. Large portions with great, fresh fish on offer. Lots of veggie options on the menu too! There was a small mistake with our order on the night but the management got it sorted as soon as it was noticed and saved our evening. Very friendly and down to earth. There is a large bar with wide range of drinks and cocktails. We really liked the amazing coffee that we had after our meals too. Really nice inside with a modern and trendy vibe! Looking forward to the next visit.

Have been here many times and I always enjoy it. Fish is their speciality, normally battered but they have a special Fusion coating that you can have on the fish. Gorgeous Absolutely first class service as well.

This restaurant was clean and smart the food was excellent but could do with a children's menu the staff where very friendly the drinks where a little over priced how ever the experience was very good

I have been going to this restaurant for over a year. I am someone who appreciates good, quality food. This place is quality looking, seating and the food is so so good!

Food was great. Tad bit of wait for the food but didn't really mind. Felt very welcomed. Staff are ever so friendly.

Called in for cod and chips to eat in. No plates anymore just cardboard box. We have not been here for some years now, but it is definitely not the same. We sat under a sign that said all their food is cooked fresh to order. The meal we had did not give that impression.

We have been here a few times now and each time the food and the service have been excellent. I have had the fish and chips which are great and the portion size very good. The last couple of times i have had the Chicken Skewer with salad, Greek bread, chips and tzaki and its amazing. The deserts are wonderful too. All in all a very pleasant place with wonderful food and friendly staff. The cocktails are pretty amazing too.

Due to original booking for meal having to to be cancelled due to fire in kitchen at another restaurant,this little gem came to our rescue. Excellent service from all the staff. Food was beyond excellent . Prices were very very reasonable for a party of 14 including drinks. Highly recommended. Will certainly be visiting again.

I pass about 4 other fish & chip shops to get here is the food is great. I have only taken food away and not eaten on premises.

Good portion size but pretty average fish and chips considering all the hype, we will go back to try something different.

I love this place so much and moving to Luton recently. Especially finding out it does halal food. My kids love it and love the mocktails especially the elderflower one. Halloumi is my fav especially the battered one. Prices are quite expensive but then again the service and quality match to this.

We have always loved the takeaway however the last few visits have left us disappointed. There seems to be an inconsistency with the sausages that are used for the battered sausage. More often than not the sausages have had a funny taste to them which means we have been unable to eat them. My partner couldn't even stand one bite and spat it out.

Twenty years ago my commute took me through Luton and on a Friday night I was often encouraged to swing by Wigmore Fish & Chips on the way home to feed the family with a fish and chip supper.

Had a lovely pancake and fruit desert was so tasty, fresh and of a very high standard and looked really appetising This restaurant goes from strength to strength thus dish was really recommended after having a lovely healthy avocado salad!

Have been here once before on a recent visit and fish and chips were good. This time I opted for souvlaki but it was dire. The so called salad had one small tomato, a few minute pieces of cucumber and even less red onion, accompanied by some past it shredded lettuce. The koftes could have been any meat, dry and lacking in flavour, and the tzatziki seemed to have been made with creme fraiche or something similar and not Greek yogurt as it was whipped like cream. It also lacked the usual taste of Greek yogurt. The few chips it came with were fine but £9.95 for a small portion of chips is steep. My wife had fish and chips which were good but my daughter's avacado with halloumi was not as described and also disappointed. The score of two was for the fish and chips. I'd have given the souvlaki 0 if possible and the avacado 1. If they're going to serve dishes like souvlaki then they should resemble something you might expect to get in a Greek restaurant or in Greece. This failed miserably. Stick to fish and chips which are pretty good.

This place has been a regular spot for me and my friends/family for over a year now. The food has always been amazing. You know its a great restaurant when their food is always consistent. The service has always been fantastic. They have fresh home made cakes are also amazing. If you go, you must try their Virgin Mojito made by Barbara or Cody.

First visit today for Father’s Day lunch. Great service and food would highly recommend. Had heard that it was expensive but no more than pizza express and actually the food was well worth the money. £55 for the 3 of us including a beer/wine with lunch.

Great menu and service staff were great table's and restaurant very clean will certainly visit again and highly recommended.

toke my mum an dad for the 1st time, my mum had a beef roast dinner an my dad had grilled plaice, I my self had veal sovlakia, the roast was cooked beautifully nice an juicy just how a roast beef should be cooked, the plaice was grilled to perfection, my dad commented that he could have finished off another 1,my veal as all ways was lovely, we had a nice bottle of wine wish was recommended by the lovely Barbara, who by the way knows how to make a great cocktail then the very pleasant panny recommended the home made cheese cake, an boy was he rite, head chef Antoni again was on top of his game

We had an excellent meal this evening. Although we live close by, this was our fist visit and we can’t rate it highly enough. Pani and his staff made us feel so welcome and relaxed. Can’t wait for our next visit!!

I was very impressed by this restaurant. Very spacious and great atmosphere. The food was delicious. A good selection of food. I had a Greek meal which was really good. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I will definitely go there again.

Returning back into luton to meet with friends over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to of had been taken to a hidden gem of a restaurant, located opposite ASDA on the corner of the parade. Surprised to have seen such a nice restaurant!

We have been to The Wigmore Fish Restaurant a number of times but I was disappointed with the service last night.

I visited this restaurant for lunch with my mother. Although the menu is extensive, I had the Plaice and Chips which was absolutely superb, the fish was plentiful, fresh and crispy, the chips were excellent. There are a wide range of extras available to compliment your meal. I had a pint of the Brooklyn Lager which I really enjoy and was pleased to see on draft here. The portions are huge so be prepared to eat heartily, I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will return.

Visited this beautiful restaurant with my friend on the Thursday, I had the cod an chips an my friend had the chicken souvlakia, both dishes were hot an delicious we decided not to have dessert instead we went for the cocktails, we were indesicve to which cocktail to go for. Barbaras warm friendly customer service, assistance, her knowledge with the food and cocktail menu to suit our individual taste. Which made it super easy to choose. We had pina colada and espresso martani cocktail made by her. We were not disappointed. The quality of the cocktails was excellent, made how a cocktail should be made. Full of flavour an quality, can't wait to go back to taste more cocktails.cant wait to go back, all the staff are lovely and friendly food excellent and cleanness

Very disappointed at the service and quality in the take away . I had to wait while a silent worker carried on cleaning , she never said anything like I won’t be long or the like . 5 mins later I was able to order but told there would be a wait if around 7 mins , fair enough . My order arrived and I took it home and was shocked to find my fish was only half battered . This was doubly disappointing as I had seen some wonderful looking fish being served . My conclusion was that this fish should have been rejected as it wasn’t battered properly , deep fried I battered fish tastes horrible .

Great service, staff very accommodating to our needs. Food presented well and a varied menu kept everyone satisfied. Restricted parking can catch you out, make sure you register your vehicle in the restaurant to avoid a fine for overstaying a 2 hour restriction.

Went with friends, the meal was perfect and the service was excellent. We had a wonderful evening and will look forward to our next visit. I would recommend this restaurant for friends and families.
