Whittle Vintage Tearooms & Cafe in Chorley

Absolutely wonderful, the food was beautifully prepared with great attention to detail, very homely and relaxed atmosphere. Our first visit, between us we had a miniature cone and ice cream with the hot drinks, homemade cheese and onion pie, goats cheese and beetroot salad and a Lancashire cheese, vine tomato, chutney, coleslaw, side salad & crisps. We even had cakes to go, well worth a visit….

This was my second time visiting the tearoom and both times I have been impressed with the quick and friendly service and tasty food. Food is very well priced and there is a good selection. There is an even wider selection of cakes and they serve teas and coffee is with a lovely little treat too. Would recommend for friends/families and children.

Sally was absolutely amazing in helping me organise a friends baby shower. Sally communicated when required and was available to answer all questions. The cafe is beautiful and such a nice quiet place to hold a baby shower. The afternoon tea was loved by all. Thanks again. Highly recommend x

Telephoned for a reservation for afternoon tea for 4 people. When we arrived the table was laid & staff knew we were having afternoon tea. Wow! It was amazing! Soup arrived in expresso coffee cups, oh my, how delicious was that! Then the 3 tier cake stand. Bottom layer with a selection of 3 types of sandwiches, crisps & salad. Second layer 3 different cakes & the top layer, the "piece de resistance" the scones with jam & cream... Lush!!

Amazing little hidden gem! Food was fresh and tasty, prices were excellent, staff very friendly and accommodating. Outstanding from start to finish! Cannot recommend enough! We will be back again for sure!

Had a really lovely afternoon tea from here. Will definitely be going back. The red velvet cake was the best I've had, and the Christmas cheesecake was delicious.

Had the cauliflower and cheese soup (delicious) and the turkey stuffing and cranberry sandwich as a takeaway lunch. It was so lovely - salad in a little pot - and so fresh and tasty Highly recommended!

Visited for lunch today and had the broccoli cauliflower and stilton soup with an egg may and sun dried tomato sandwich. It was delicious! My daughter had a ham sandwich and as requested the home cooked ham was cut thin and she ate both sandwiches - very unusual for her! The Covid rules were read out to us on arrival which was good - hand sanitser provided and table cleaned as soon as people left. I just think the social distancing wasn't really adhered to - I certainly wasn't two metres away from the next table, and I don't think other tables were.It would be a shame if the cafe was penalised for something like this as it is clearly a popular venue for the local community.

We called into the tearoom today for lunch and what a treat. My husband and I got shown to a table. The lovely ladies who work there are very helpful. The food was amazing and the blueberry scones absolutely gorgeous.Loved it will definitely go back again Thank you ladies.

My boyfriend & I visited for a date afternoon on a sunny August. I rang up the week prior due to some dietary requirements. Thankfully they were able to adjust some of the sandwich fillings and cakes so I could enjoy their selection.When we arrived we were informed of all the covid safe requirements and showed to our table. We were offered tea & coffee, which came with a surprise ice cream cone, which was polished off within seconds. Within a few minutes the cake stand arrived, which was well presented, we were told which what everything was and which ones were specially prepared for me. Everything was fantastic but my favourite thing was the blueberry scone, so moist and tasty. I did take a box as we just couldn't manage to finish all the cakes so ate them the following day.We will definitely be coming again and have recommended to family :-)Felt completely at ease, the tables were well spaced, hand sanitiser, toilets cleaned after each use, very covid safe, well done.

Really lovely and clean place to visit. We were working but desperate for a drink so called in on the spot. Really pleased with everything, a really genuine little cafe and very nice pleasant staff who were helpful and attentive. Will certainly return.

Had afternoon tea and it was a delight. Sandwiches were tasty with plenty of filling and made with heavenly local bread.Cakes and scones were plentiful (we took some of them home) and were absolutely delicious.At £7.50 a head (with all the tea you can drink) it was a real bargain and we’ll certainly be back.The service from all 3 ladies was excellent, efficient & cheerful and the atmosphere is cosy but lively...recommend booking because it’s very busy.

The best traditional afternoon teaSally who runs this place is wonderful The food is all homemade, fresh and delicious If you get chance to try the lemon drizzle scones you are in for a treat but the blueberry and fruit ones are also delicious The sandwiches on artisan bread perfectThe meringues melt - my favourite are the chocolate ones but any are delicious - sparkling with edible glitter.There’s a mini soup too which is always vegetarian and unexpected with the flavours - a great twist alwaysThis place is so good we nip in on our lunch break and take the leftovers back to work - envious looks every time as everyone wants to look at what we have. Occasionally I have shared! I am missing this place being open during this lockdown but there is a mini delivery service being offered on scones/brownies but this gets booked up as soon as posted on Facebook!This will be one of first to visit when open again Cannot recommend highly enough

Found whilst driving through the area. Just a normal cafe type place. We had various jacket potatoes, when they arrived they looked quite small but everyone thoroughly enjoyed them and they left room for cakes. There were two youngish waitresses who were very polite and provided a brilliant service. A credit to this cafe. The only one thing I would say is the table was really dirty but perhaps they had just been busy. Thank you

Sally, the boss, had a rare day off the day we went. The Tea Room was its usual vibrant self, busy as ever. Did we get our table at the time booked, yes. Was service depleted because the boss was off, no. Was food choice any less, no.It is such a wonderful relaxing experience to take tea and fancies at Whittle Tea Rooms. There is an ever changing menu of delights to try and we are never disappointed or dissatisfied.Are we going back? You betcha.

Went today. The mini afternoon tea was wonderful and very generous, so generous I had to take my cake home as was so full. Great place and will definitely be returning.

I have been meaning to write a review for the Whittle Tea room for some time. I have been on many occasions and recently Sally did the catering for my daughters Christening. The quality of the food was outstanding, the service just brilliant and the christening cake was so so sooo yummy. I can not recommend Sally and her team enough, we received so many compliments on all the food. I have visited many times with friends and family and the afternoon teas are just brilliant, so fresh and the small touches of the little ice cream are so cute. Thanks so much again. We cannot wait to return!

This is a fantastic tea room. The sandwiches are made from gorgeous bread the cakes are fantastic. Everything is so lovely and really good value for money. If you are looking for a brilliant afternoon tea go here you will not be disappointed!

I came in just to get out of the rain whilst on the phone to my husband. One of the staff came over straight away to greet me and inform me of the tables I could at and brought me some water to start off with.

At the moment I am bed bound and have been promising to have afternoon tea with two friends. After contacting Sally she said she would do a takeaway for us! What an afternoon we had lots of chatting and the most fabulous food… homemade soup and the most gorgeous sandwiches,the scones were sublime as were the meringue nests and cake and biscuits. We hope to visit the tearoom when I’m fit and sample the delicious food that Sally provides definitely 5 stars .

Attended a baby shower here recently. The food was excellent and the staff very attentive. It was clean and nicely decorated. More than enough to eat, and beautiful cakes and sandwiches, I took half my cakes home. Be aware you should be hungry when you go ! I will be back.

Friends and I visited this afternoon and we all had the ‘mini tea’, a smaller version of the standard afternoon tea. I can only say the quantity was more than sufficient for us and the price of £11 pp was extremely good value. The food was fresh, attractively presented and of high quality. The staff were lovely and the tea room is spotless, light, airy and very tastefully decorated. Highly recommended.

My family booked a surprise 90th celebration for my mum at my favourite little tearoom! As always excellent food and service ! My family...some of whom have never been here before thoroughly enjoyed the visit, commenting on the food....the best they have had from an independent cafe! Lovely afternoon spent here! I visited with my mum on a Saturday lunchtime after reading the reviews online. I would suggest booking in advance as it was full. The afternoon tea looked amazing, there was so much! We opted for the smaller option of sandwich, scone, any cake and tea, and we still ended up with a takeaway bag! The quality is too notch, and it was such good value for money. In fact, the owner could probably increase her prices slightly as she can’t be making much profit. Would definitely recommend x

This is my favourite afternoon tea locally. All the produce on the afternoon tea are home made. Not one thing that wasn’t tasty. So nice I went back the week after with family 😊 The service is really good and a reasonable price too

Situated just outside of Chorley Lancashire in the UK, in Whittle-Le-Woods my Mother who had just turned 90 had a great Tea Room meal surrounded by all her Family and Guest friends. The whole experience was lovely.

Lovely staff, excellent service. The afternoon tea was amazing.....lovely bread and filling on sandwiches, delicious scones, yummy cakes, delightful trifle. Well worth a visit. We loved it. Clean and cosy tea room.

I visited this lovely cafe, with my daughter and granddaughter today. We found it by chance after shopping and putting into google, nearest cafe. So glad we did. We love afternoon tea, so we were delighted that we could order a mini afternoon tea, without having to pre book, like you usually have to at other tea rooms. Everything was delicious and we absolutely loved the surprise tiny ice cream that came with the coffee and tea. We will definitely return and bring our friends.

Well what can I say, I visit this lovely little tearoom as often as I can...would visit more, but my waistline would suffer! Took a friend today and had afternoon tea. It simply is the best, the food is always delicious, staff so friendly and helpful...what more do you need?! My friend thought it was the best afternoon tea she has had! Ditto to that! Had a lovely time today at the tea room. Home made quiche with cherry scone to follow. All homemade. Prices good. Only a couple of parking spaces outside but lots of on street parking. Well worth a visit. Will definitely recommend and go again.

I hadn't been to this tearoom for quite some time and called in with some friends for a coffee. Ordered scrambled egg on toast for brunch and I have to say it was delicious - as was my cappuccino. My friends ordered americanos which were very nice, but the cups were tiny! I know it's vintage but even so...... Nevertheless I enjoyed my visit and will definitely be returning to this little tearoom

We popped in for a drink and a cake. What a fab tearoom! Loved to decor and the staff were incredibly friendly. We noticed as couple of tables were reserved so may be advisable to book. Luckily for us, there were some free tables. A jug of water and some glasses were bought to out table with the menu which was a lovely touch. We ordered a scone and a summer berry pavlova. Both were amazing and the presentation was stunning. We also each got a mini ice cream which again was a nice little touch. It also seemed very family friendly with toys for younger children. I have promised my Mum I will take her here as I know she would love it. Highly recommend!

We have visited the Whittle Vintage Tearooms many times, as we are lucky enough that it's less than 5 mins walk from our home. We've had breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch and many cakes. Also had sandwiches, toasties and cakes to take away.

The service was great! They were very accommodating for my daughter-in-law, who is vegan, as I wanted to treat her to afternoon tea. The food was fresh and totally delicious! I love the loo too! Lovely and clean!

I love this place so much. We've been a few times now and it never dissspoints. I booked in this week for a lunch with family I mentioned it was for my sons first birthday. When we arrived at our table there was a first birthday balloon! What a lovely thing to do, it really made my day. We all ordered the mini afternoon tea. I forget that a mini ice cream comes with the tea, it's such a fun little treat you don't get anywhere else. I had a BLT which was so yummy. Perfectly cooked, as were the scones. They are the best I've ever had in a cafe or shop! The homemade raspberry jam is amazing and lovely fresh cream. My little boy enjoyed helping with my shortbread too. As ever it was very clean, the baby crawled around the floor to test this and lovely decorations. Staff are warm friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back.

The afternoon tea was served beautifully, vintage cake stand, china cups and saucers....so very pretty. The food.....AMAZING, You get a little cup of homemade soup (yummy) selection of sandwiches, mini tarts, mini lemon cake and of course delightful blueberry scones, served with cream homemade jam! I went today for Mother’s Day afternoon tea and it was absolutely fabulous. Leek and potato soup to start was delicious, a good mixture of sandwiches & salad with coleslaw were very enjoyable. The scones are so fresh, with the added detail of homemade jam. Nice unusual touch of mini ice cream cone on the tea cup of tea, as much tea as you can drink freshly made. I could go on for hours, beautiful decor and just a really lovely relaxed atmosphere........when they were extremely busy. .......also fantastic value for money !! I can’t thank Sally and her girls enough. Highly recommended five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This lovely cafe was recommended to me by a friend, we visited last Saturday, and can only say so glad we called! The food is all fresh and home made using local produce and is sooo tasty. Struggled to decide what to have it was all so tempting!

Whether you want soup and a sandwich or afternoon tea this place won't let you down, if you haven't got time to stay you can order food to go, due to my partner working on Valentines day we were unable to have the Valentines afternoon tea so I rang the team rooms and asked If I could have one as a take out, not only did I get the full afternoon tea to take out they even lent me the sandwich/cake stand and the mini cups and saucers to serve the soup in, all I had to do was plate it up and warm the soup for my very own Valentines afternoon tea, the sandwiches the cakes and the soup were all excellent and my partner loved the surprise Valentines tea, I can't recommend this place highly enough

Just had a lovely lunch here...All tasted so fresh. The homemade soup was heavenly, and the sandwich soft, fresh and so tasty. Lovely decor, and so clean. Even the toilet was lovely - vintage decor, and spotlessly clean. Will definitely be back if we are this way again.

We had a really fabulous afternoon tea over the Christmas holidays with the family. We had a range of xmas afternoon tea, gluten-free afternoon tea and special childrens afternoon teas, and they were all excellent! The Vintage Tea Rooms in Whittle-le-Woods is just superb. We called in for lunch today. It was our first visit and we were very impressed. The dining area is immaculate and clean, the staff are lovely and the food was excellent. Tea for two was served with mini ice cream cornets, the sandwiches we ordered were very generous proportions and served with salad, slaw and crisps. I also sampled one of the lovely homemade cakes, a fruit meringue, which was delicious. Best tearoom we’ve been to.

Visited with a friend for coffee/brunch. Absolutely loved the little ice cream cone with our tea ( in China cups & pot). Menu varied, could have stayed on for lunch! We'll be back

We got a very friendly welcome from the staff when we arrived. The tearoom was quite packed and so felt a bit squashed on the table we were sitting at. However the sandwiches were excellent and nicely presented. Will definitely visit again.

A great tearoom. With lots of attention to detail. We had the adults and the children’s festive Afternoon Tea. Loved the warm mini mince pie on the saucer and the fact that the teacup had been warmed. The Afternoon Tea was the best we’d ever had. Everything fresh and tasty. Loved that everything was home made and that local suppliers are being used. Staff were lovely and friendly. Can’t wait to visit again!

I visited the Vintage Tearooms on Saturday 3rd November. This afternoon tea had been arranged for myself to celebrate with 20 other ladies my 60th birthday. We had an amazing time. The afternoon tea was the best I had had and I've had a few!!! Sally and her team catered for gluten free, gluten/dairy intolerant, vegan and a diabetic and every single plate was amazing. Thank you so much to all the team for all their hard work. I think we will all be coming back and bringing others with us. This tearoom is a must to visit!

My partner and I adored this place. Some things should never go out of fashion and a jolly good tearoom is one of them. Food here is very good and the decor and atmosphere is a delight.. And the staff are lovely.

This is a delightful tea room with a very friendly new owner. The pink decor makes this a very cosy cafe. We just ordered tea for two but it was accompanied with tiny ice cream cornets in small holders at the side of the cups. We were also treated to delicious chocolate truffles made by the owner, who obviously has a talent for confectionery judging by the lovely cakes on display.

5 star food to match the 5 star service. My children (10 & 6) loved the Halloween inspired afternoon tea!

Having seen on their Facebook page that the tea room offers home-made scones and jam, with fresh cream, I headed there on Saturday lunchtime (after 1pm). I chose my own seat and the waitress came over with a carafe of water and a glass, along with the menu. It didn't take me long to find what I was looking for - the Cream Tea. I quickly ordered and soon afterwards was served with a lovely blueberry scone, with two pats of butter and two small dishes, one with home-made jam and the other with cream. I had ordered a pot of tea also and this came served in vintage china, with a china cup & saucer and milk jug. The cup and saucer held an unexpected surprise - a tiny ice cream cornet ! It was lovely - fudge flavour and very moreish. I then set to work on my cream tea... It didn't disappoint. In fact I devoured it ! Beautifully fresh scone, lovely jam and nice fresh cream ( hate the clotted stuff) piped into the dish, with three blueberries on top. All this for the truly unbelievable sum of just £5. Top marks for presentation, swift and attentive service and value for money. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

My daughter has recently moved to the village and she wanted to take me on my first visit. We each had the Mini Tea which was a perfect size. The food was fabulous. We were the only customers however it was an early visit. Speaking to the owner she advised that she had sold the cafe and the new owners woukd be taking over shortly, I do hope they don't plan on making many changes as it is a little gem and I will definately pop in next time I visit my daughter.

We have been recommended to go hear by a lot of friends, and today finally managed a visit. What a nice experience! the ladies running it were so welcoming and friendly, everything is freshly made and if there is one draw back, it all looked soooo good, but you can only eat so much, so return visits are inevitable. The menu is extensive, but if you have an idea as to what is meant by the term "tearooms" you will have a good idea of what to expect. We had the large fruit scones, butter and jam and clotted cream. Oh my goodness, fare to die for. It was a hot day so I was relieved to see that they sell cold drinks as well as hot, and the jug of cold water brought with the menus was an excellent and very welcome touch. Not at all expensive - we had three meals and drinks, totalling £11. We will not be waiting so long to go back. Thank you ladies.

Don't be fooled by the exterior of this lovely village tearoom. It's definitely worth a visit.

Visited today with my two daughters after swimming. The kids afternoon tea was really good and the girls loved the unicorn hot chocolate. My jacket potato was excellent too. Well worth a visit we will back very soon.

Customer Service - couldn't be better. The ladies were so helpful and brilliant with my friend's little girls. We were made very welcome and felt very at home.

Have been to the tea room quite a few times and it was always lovely, this is my first visit since it changed hands and it is every bit as good. I love the new deco, it looks very cosy and inviting. The lady came over with water and glasses first which I thought was a lovely touch. We had the soup,leek & potato which was absolutely delicious, served with croutons and warm bread roll and presented on beautiful china. Then we had tea and I couldn’t resist a slice of Victoria sponge, which was obviously freshly baked and very tasty. I will be returning soon with my god daughter for the full afternoon tea experience. I wish you every success for the future. You deserve it.

I liked the tearoom before but I love it now!

Visited today with my friend. Had pre booked a table as I anticipated it would be busy as it had only been reopened under new management a couple of days.. Was glad I booked as it was very busy. Loved the new decor and theme.. Felt like I had stepped back in time! We both had mini afternoon tea which consisted of a selection of good quality of sandwiches, scone and cakes and unlimited tea or coffee. This worked out to be extremely good value for money.

Visted for the first time today for afternoon tea, having prebooked for 6 adults and one 5 year old. Four of us had the Gentleman's & 2 the Classic, with our grandson having an individual Nursery tea. All the food was delicious, more than enough to satisfy 7 healthy appetites.

Visited the vintage tearoom this afternoon-I can certainly recommend this tearoom-the staff were very friendly & welcoming ,service was quick & efficient,menu varied & lots of choice .Went with my daughter & we thoroughly enjoyed our food -the poached eggs & smoked salmon on toast with salad was well presented & delicious -my daughter enjoyed the soup followed by scone,jam & cream with strawberries-We were very glad we called in here whilst passing by & we will not hesitate to call in again soon.

Visited the tearoom this lunch time had scramble egg and smoked salmon on muffins with side salad. Scones with butter jam and clotted cream and a pot of fresh tea. Lovely setting and very friendly staff. Would definitely go again.

Ive been here loads about 6 times and it's never been open I've research it to make sure it's opened and even tired to ring and it's not been but if our lucky anough to go when it's open it's quite nice inspect from once I went and the Afternoon tea were awafull we all were starving after words

Lovely visit to J&L; Vintage Tea Rooms with my mum, sister and Niece. Throughly enjoyed the Classic Afternoon Tea and would definitely recommend. The little cup of soup and the little caramel tart was exceptional. Will definitely return in future.

Visited the tearoom this afternoon for tea and cake and we weren't disappointed. We were quite late in the day so the cake selection available was only small, but we had lemon cake and a scone which were both yum! Will definitely return!

Visited this lovely tea room with my friend today for a mini afternoon tea.This is a pretty little place,with a varied selection of food,especially the delicious cakes! A nice touch,was the selection of toys for little ones to play with.Will definitely go again

Visited for afternoon tea; first visit. Excellent afternoon tea, nicely presented, fresh & tasty. Fresh coffee or tea plentiful. Very welcoming; a warm friendly venue. Some lovely offers advertised. Sells work from local artists. Spotlessly clean. Will most definitely visit again.

First time visitor, so here's my summary. Welcoming, warm, nice coffee, delicious cake, decent value. Will call again.

Popped into the tea room with my mum after attending the flower arranging class at the village hall. We chose homemade soup and a sandwich which was excellent! The Brocillii and Stilton soup was yummy and the sandwich was freshly prepared accompanied with homemade coleslaw and salad garnish. We finished off with a piece of homemade cake, the Victoria sponge was lovely and light.

I have been to the tea rooms lots of times . It is a great tea room . It is great value for money . Lively China . Great afternoon tea . Cakes are amazing and all home made . Always feel welcome when I have the children . Very child friendly . Amazing little gem .
