White Tails in New Forest

Great food and great host, I would highly recommend this restaurant. The portions were a good size and great tasting. Ramsay the owner was just lovely.

Had dinner at White Tail and had a great time. Ramsey, the owner, looked after us and his knowledge of the menu, ingredients and his passion for the food was second to none. The restaurant is running to strict COVID measures, which we really appreciated and gives you a sense of how much they care for their clients and staff welfare. Highly recommend if your down on the New Forest!

We stayed at the Cottage Lodge Hotel and dined at the Whitetails Restaurant twice. All I can say is it was incredible. The staff were attentive, funny, informative and made great recommendations from the menu. The food was amazing. We went to James Martin’s Kitchen restaurant and it wasn’t anything on the Whitetails. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant if you’re staying in The New Forest and looking for good food. Thank you. The O’Neill’s and Frasers.

We had been looking forward to the food all week but were bowled over by the overall experience as well as the food. Ramsay is a brilliant host and the whole atmosphere is welcoming and unpretentious. We have both been spoilt over the years but the meal was up at the top. We had whitebait and goats cheese, then sea bass and stroganoff finishing with lemon roulade and Icecream. The website is very helpful because it has pictures of the dishes to help you decide what to choose though there were lots of other dishes we would have liked if I had had the foresight to book twice. I am not surprised it is so popular that it is booked up for most of August. The covid precautions were excellent too despite no longer being legally required

Booked into the restaurant on our first night at the hotel as we knew we’d be tired and didn’t want to have to “think” where to eatWhat a disservice to Ramsey the owner and his chef that would be. The entire restaurant is run and manned by these two gents from head to toeThe menu options were perfect for me, and I could have eaten every starter, main and dessert given the time.The food was just amazing. My wife ordered the glazed goats cheese starter and I the king prawn linguine. We were both very impressed and I could have easily eaten the linguine as a larger portion for my main (you can ask for this). However, my main was lip smacking gorgeous. I chose the lamb shank and my wife had the mushroom stroganoff. I’m not a huge fan of lamb (sorry mum, your fault) , but because of this, I’ve never cooked it myself, so thought I’d try it as somebody professional was cooking it for me. Both mains were delicious, and I had the broccoli as a side to accompany it. Nice and al dente as I like it. I also had a little of my wife’s stroganoff which was stunning.Finally, we finished it with a cheese board each. The wine selection was also great with something for everyone.Ramsey is engaging, energetic and fun to chat with, who is passionate about his restaurant and food, rightly so. To sum up….. it was so good, we asked to rebook. Ramsey informed us he was full but for an early sitting two days later. We made our apologies to our original booking, and rebooked with Whitetails and Ramsey to exploit his only availability.My wife chose the same dishes as before as she enjoyed them so much, where as I chose the scotch egg starter and the steak and fries for main. I’m not a huge fan of fries and I enjoyed the mash potato that accompanied the lamb shank thoroughly. I mentioned to Ramsey I wish I’d had this with the steak. I was told if id asked….he’d have swapped the potato options. You live and learn. I would estimate over half the restaurant chose the lamb shank that eveningSo, learn I have. We have rebooked the hotel and restaurant for September. And I’ll be trying something new, but I think the mash potato will take some beating for me not to choose it with a different main.See you soon chaps. Look forward to eating with you again. Considering just two people run this restaurant, you do better job of other restaurants we’ve eaten with infinitely more staff

Ramsey the owner was outstanding, first class friendly service, the food was superb.The pea and mint soup was delicious, as were the fish cakes. Temperatures were taken on arrival very COVID secure which was good to see. Make sure you park roadsideAnd not in the car park unless you are a resident.

Welcomed by the lovely Ramsey to this fine & elegant restaurant . Would highly recommend , the atmosphere and service is spot on . Started with the soft yolk scotch egg , i had the Sirloin Steak and my wife had the sea bass , for dessert we had lemon meringue roulade and my wife had salted caramel cheesecake . Every course was to die for . This restaurant is a must .

A small owner-operated restaurant offering beautifully cooked favourites, including the best fish cakes I've ever eaten. Definitely worth a visit but pre-booking is a must.

So pleased we booked here. Lovely little intimate restaurant, Ramsey went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Food was amazing and nicely presented. We had the whitebait to start, I had the sea bass and my husband had the chicken main. The creme brûlée was gorgeous and I had the salted caramel cheesecake which had happy birthday popped in chocolate for me, such a lovely gesture.I’d definitely recommend this place, we will be back when we are next in the area

Welcomed in by Ramsey who is a fantastic Maître d'hôtel . very welcoming setting we decided to have the scotch eggs to start followed by the pork and sirloin steak finished by cheese cake . Great food great service would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic service and very well priced. The restaurant is small, very cosy, so tastefully decorated and the music was well suited to the mood. Ramsey, the owner single handedly manages to provide incredible personalised attention to each table. Always smiling and making sure that we have enough drinks etc. We had the cheesecake for dessert which was delicious. Thank you for such a lovely evening.

We were staying at Cottage Lodge Hotel so trying the food at the restaurant was a no brainer, great choice and amazing quality at very good prices. Will be back next time we are in the NF!

We had a warm welcome from Ramsey and great service. We dined on soup, stroganoff, prawn linguine and lamb shank. My linguine was lovely and I can recommend the lamb shank that fell off the bone - the gravy/sauce was so tasty. We had cheese and creme brulee to follow. The creme brulee let the side down slightly as it was cold (possibly from freezer). Could also have done with more cream in my liqueur coffee, but I did have my creme brulee. Usually have a liqueur coffee instead of dessert for the cream! A lovely stylish place to eat and I can definitely recommend the lamb shank.

We had the pleasure of dining at White Tails this evening and the experience was a joy from start to finish. Ramsey was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant is run by himself and the chef, so it’s a very personal experience. We went for starters, mains, the cheese board and dessert, accompanied by white and red wines. The overall experience was excellent, the quality of the food was fantastic and we will definitely be dining here again on our next visit to the New Forest. 5 stars all round!

Booked to eat here based on the numerous great reviews. Staying in Brockenhurst, so only a short walk to the restaurant. Met by Ramsey, all covid rules followed and tables well spaced, was quite busy and as mentioned in other posts, he does all the service himself, so it can be slow at times.Wife had starter of Goat's Cheese, which she said was lovely. I had the Prawn Linguine, which was nice, but I was disappointed to find one prawn not looking fully cooked and with the thread left in. I left this on the plate, but nothing was said, down to me to say something I suppose.Both had the Lamb Shanks for mains and felt it was lacking something. Nice meat, very tender, but felt the seasoning was a trifle lacking. The mash was quite ordinary too.Desserts were very nice. Wine was lovely.Never like leaving a poor review, but can only go on the meal etc. Would be more than willing to give White Tails another go when next in the restaurant, especially as the owner seems such a nice guy.

Ate here with friends whilst staying at The Cottage hotel. The restaurant is small with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We all had two courses and the food was fantastic and beautifully presented. We would definitely eat there again if staying in Brokenhurst.

A fabulous dining experience! Ramsey personally ensured our evening was a success with excellent service, delicious food and wines to accompany. The prices were comparatively very reasonable considering the excellent quality and all expectations were met with regard to covid requirements. Well done Whitetails! Five stars from us - we will definitely be returning.

We went just before Christmas. There were a few decorations and a tree, but somehow the place still seemed a bit stark - lots of rough wood and hard surfaces.Ramsay is lovely, but there’s only one of him and it’s not enough. We were asked to arrive a quarter of an hour later than our chosen time. We were left standing for quite a while in the lobby and had to wait ages for our wine. The food was fine, good-sized portions. However, one of us had the venison, which we’d had at another local restaurant a couple of weeks before and it was not nearly as tender as that and no sign of pink (we weren’t asked). Overall, it was good, but we thought expensive for what it was. The bill was not much less than the restaurant we had previously been to and the experience was nowhere near as special.

Dined at this restaurant on a couple of nights whilst staying at the Cottage lodge hotel. This restaurant is absolutely amazing. The owner, Ramsey, could not be more courteous, helpful and polite. Would have no hesitation in returning to this restaurant, a real jewel in the middle of The New Forest.

We enjoyed 2 evening meals, the food was wonderful and the friendly service of the owner/waiter Ramsey added to both pleasant evenings. The restaurant was Covid safe.

We picked white tails based on the trip adviser reviews and we really weren't disappointed! The food was tasty, nicely presented and reasonably priced. Excellent service from the friendly waiter. We particular enjoyed being able to pick which table we ate at having recently had a few meals ruined by noisy tables nearby! I would highly recommend for anyone staying in the area (we were based in sway and it was a 10 min drive out - well worth it!)

Food to absolutely die for. We had an absolutely fab evening on Friday 11th December. The service fantastic and the food was the best I’ve had in a long time. I am still raving about the salted caramel cheesecake!

Hotel restaurants can be a bit hit or miss. Well White Tails hits the bulls-eye! It is not strictly part of Cottage Lodge but co-habits the same building in Brockenhurst. After a really disappointing meal at the East End arms the night before this surpassed our expectations. My teenage children both had medium rare steaks whilst I had the confit of duck. The steaks were seriously good. Top grade meat, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The duck was delicious as was the chocolate roulade that I followed it up with. Add in some top quality service from the very attentive owner and it’s no wonder that White Tails has such high ratings. I would go out of my way to eat here - it’s that good. My one very minor observation is that the restaurant dining area itself is a little sterile (maybe no bad thing in the age of COVID) but a few pictures on the walls might give the place a bit more ambience.

We came to this restaurant reading such great reviews and it was just fantastic the best restaurant I have been to the food was delicious and specially Ramsey who runs the restaurant was so welcoming and so friendly we will definitely be returning back. It was just simply the best I would highly recommend it to anyone

Had a fantastic meal here, the host was so lovely and nothing was to much trouble. Fantastic selection on the menu something for everyone. We had the fish cakes and mushroom stroganof, both of which were very flavourful. I'm quite fussy with my stroganof and am usually disappointed but this was a lovely one. I added beef filet, it was creamy without being too heavy. The puddings were also lovely. We loved the quirky sold wood tables. Best place we have eaten on our stay in the new forest.

An exceptionally good steak with mushrooms and grilled tomatoes. My teenage boys agreed! My husband had the confit duck and said it was excellent. Very good service too.

This was our first visit and definitely will not be the last. Very secure covid regulations.My husband had venison and I had sirloin steak followed by pannacottta and creme brulee which were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious.Lovely setting, perfect host and first class food.Highly recommended

Visited for dinner whilst in area on holiday. Shared the mackerel starter which was fresh and tasty. I had the venison and partner lamb shank. Both were wonderful. More than reasonable wine menu for a small restaurant

We went to the white tails this week and had a lovely meal. The waiter Ramsey was very good and made us feel welcome. I had the homemade scotch egg for starter and steak for main both were fresh, locally sourced and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended to visit this place but you will need to book beforehand as it was very busy.

We had had the pleasure of eating in this restarant last week. What a find. It may not be the most fancy of restaurats but more than makes up for it with its delightful food, wine and service. Absolutley 10 out of 10. Romsey who appears to be a one man band was brilliant znd his helpfulness most welcoming.

We chose this restaurant as the reviews were very favourable. It’s a cosy place with Ramsey acting as front of house, barman and waiter. The food was delicious and all locally sourced, a great menu of extremely high standard. We did feel Ramsey could have done with an extra pair of hands.

We had a wonderful evening meal at White Tails on the 9th October whilst staying at the adjoining equally excellent Cottage Lodge Hotel. The food was excellent and mine host was welcoming and attentive.

We visited White Tails for dinner as we had noticed it's very high ratings on TripAdvisor and were curious to try some British food made of local produce. The restaurant did not disappoint, the ambience was great, the food phenomenal and Ramsey the owner / manager was a brilliant host. All in all a great experience that we would recommend to anyone visiting Brockenhurst. From a COVID safety perspective it all seemed to work well, there were a limited number of tables available with appropriate distancing and you were required to sanitize and wear a mask upon entry.

My wife and I visted here for dinner while staying in the New Forest. Excellent three course meal with good service. We were very well looked after and would certainly visit again when in the area.

We ate twice at the restaurant during our stay and the food was simply delicious. Clearly freshly prepared. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We recently stayed at the Cottage Lodge Hotel for a night and chose to eat supper at White Tails as we'd eaten there last December and loved it. It did not disappoint! We had plenty of time so we went for 3 courses and chose a white wine to go with our starters of Mackerel pate and Salmon cannelloni (both wonderful and well balanced in flavours) then a red to go with my Confit duck leg with cassoulet and my husband's Mushroom stroganoff (with beef strips). The wine and the mains were exceptional and beautifully cooked and presented. Portion size was perfect for ending the meal feeling happy but not at all over-stuffed! Ramsey was delightful and his restaurant deserves its good reputation. You'll definitely need to book well ahead as it gets fully booked very quickly for obvious reasons. Congratulations to the chef and kitchen staff and to Ramsey. We'd go back and we'd highly recommend it to others without hesitation. Sue and Tony, Farley, Salisbury.

Stayed in the New Forest this week and this restaurant was recommended. It did not disappoint! Ramsey was an incredibly attentive and jovial host, and made sure we understood the COVID regulations. The food was beautiful - I had the scotch egg (which was really light - a pleasant surprise), sea bream and crème brûlée, and my fiancé had the salmon, pork and the dark chocolate and orange roulade which he said was one of the best desserts he had had for a long time. Would highly recommend and when we are in the area again we will be back!

Stayed in Brockenhurst for 3 days this week and had two meals at the White Tails restaurant. The owner, Ramsey could not be more attentive and friendly yet professional if he tried. The restaurant and staff are totally Covid secure, the food is absolutely perfect and delicious with a very varied selection to suit all tastes and the prices are very reasonable. Will definitely be eating at this restaurant again.

First visit here and we were not disappointed. We were greeted by the manager/owner who was very attentive and friendly. He was also doing all the work (they didn't have any other staff ). The service was impeccable and the good amazing! I would definitely go back again. Thank you for a lovely visit. This is a hidden gem and one not to be missed!

My friend and I where staying at the cottage lodge hotel for a few days, so decided to eat at white tails (which is based in the cottage lodge hotel) in the evenings. Well where do i begin !!! Ramsey, the manager was very attentive and such a pleasant man. The food was absolutely amazing. The flavours really came through. My friend had the parsnip soup, pork loin steak and creme brulee, i had the goats cheese then the steak, perfectly cooked (rare) then creme brulee. Next day we tried the sea breem which again flooded with flavour. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you Ramsey for a lovley evening. Look forward to seeing you next visit. Sue and Viv

We had a memorable evening in this restaurant. The owner/manager greeted us at the door and served the food in a professional and friendly manner. The restaurant itself is in a very nicely restored 17th century house. All dishes were very well cooked and even our fussy sons were happy with the food. The ice-cream was also home-made.The surprise is that the cost of the meal was in line with what we paid in much less classy restaurants in the vicinity. The only problem is that it's hard to find a table if you don't book a week in advance.

Excellent service and delicious food. My mother and I ate here whilst staying in the New Forest; the food was perfectly portioned. All three courses were very much enjoyed and had time have allowed we would have returned to try more if the menu. Thank you for a lovely evening, I am certain that we will return if ever nearby.

We spent a week in the New Forest and ate out every night and this was the highlight. If you didn’t know it was there, you’d likely miss it as it’s a restaurant in a hotel. Good, useful informative and attentive service, with quality food in pretty large portions too. The owner was also good at making accompanying recommendations with your choices, which is always a nice touch.

As regular visitors to the New Forest, we pre-booked two evenings at this fabulous restaurant because we know how popular it is. On the first evening, the meal was fantastic and the service exemplary - the owner runs the front-of-house and is both knowledgeable and friendly. There is not an extensive menu, but it is well-balanced and interesting - we quickly realised that we wouldn't be able to sample all of the dishes we liked the look of in only two nights. Despite being fully booked for the week, the owner managed to squeeze us in for an extra evening. This was much appreciated. Over the three nights we tried an array of starters, mains and puddings, all of which were delicious and beautifully presented. I would highly recommend the scotch egg starter (had this twice!), the chicken, the lamb shank, the roulade and the creme brulee (had this twice, too!) and last but definitely not least, the steak - beautifully cooked, juicy and tender. My husband had the mackerel pate, the sea bass and a cheeseboard (twice!) and thoroughly enjoyed them all. We will definitely be returning and hoping that the menu doesn't change too much!

We had, the scotch egg and salmon cannelloni for starter and pork loin and steak for mains. We could not fault any dish. It was absolutely delicious. The service was also great.

My wife and I had a short break in Lyndhurst, but we fancied a slightly up-market meal and decided that White Tails was it. We were not disappointed. We shared a Mackerel Pate starter, and as it was a very hot day, we both went for the Mushroom Stroganoff with extra beef, as the main course and shared the home made cheesecake as desert. All very delicious. If we go back to the New Forest, I would happily go back to White Tails.

My wife and I had dinner here whilst staying nearby at another hotel: just fancied a change from hotel restaurant ambience.Good, attentive service and food that lived up to the high expectations from reading the reviews. It has to be good - as in my wife did not recite the usual "I could do better at home"! Nice, intimate atmosphere in the dining room. Also handy as a short walk from the hotel and station through a lovely village.

We had a wonderful evening at White Tails.The meals were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Music played quietly in the back ground was just right for creating a nice atmosphere without being intrusive.The owner is also your waiter and ensures everything runs smoothly and is to your liking.I would highly recommend dining here and will return when next in the area.

The restaurant is quite small giving a cozy and intimate atmosphere but staff have cleverly seated people so that it doesn't feel at all crowded. The food was so tasty with a range of dishes to suit everyone and excellent portion size. The dishes looked amazing when they were brought out and lived up to expectations. Staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel comfortable. In the current situation (coronavirus) the restaurant seems a safe place to go as our temperature was taken when we went in. My particular favourite is the sea bass which is perfectly crispy and served with the best potatoes! I would highly recommend! Definitely make a trip here if staying in the area.

Mrs K booked this as we were staying in the Cottage Lodge ( same location). The starters were lovely, soft yolk scotch egg and mackerel pate ( both home made ) and we both had lamb shanks that were simply Devine. To quantify we were away as it’s our 35th wedding anniversary and we got a surprise , as we were stuffed and not having pud, when the manager presented us a complimentary dessert with “ Happy Anniversary “ on the plate! A very nice touch. The service was just perfect, not too much but more than enough to ensure a seamless experience. We would highly recommend this for an evening out as it was an exceptional meal

Having read good reviews on White Tails, it felt like a must visit when we were in Brockenhurst, we were not disappointed.The menu feels well balanced between focus on quality but with enough choice. The glazed goats cheese and fishcake starters were delicious and nicely sized, leaving room for rich tasty lamb shank and beef bourguignon mains. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and fast enough without feeling rushed.Highly recommended

We thought we'd try our new local restaurant, having just moved to the area, for my wife's birthday and were pleased that we did.There was a warm welcome from the patron Ramsey and we were offered any table we wished to have, although the restaurant did fill up through the course of the evening. Tables here are well spaced which made for a good private atmosphere and simply decorated, no table clothes or over-fussy table decorations, the food does the talking here.The menu is limited, although enough for even the most choosy person, far better a limited menu rather than pages of dishes that simply cannot be prepared and cooked from scratch. There is no brigade here, just the one chef who clearly enjoys what he does and prepares very good fresh food. Dishes were fairly priced, for example I had an excellent piece of beef fillet at £20, quite superb value. The drinks menu was limited but again enough to ensure a decent drink to compliment the meal.If I may make one negative comment, I usually go for the cheese board but found the selection here very uninspired so passed, cheddar, brie and manchego. Every course had good, imaginative dishes but the cheese selection was a disappointment.Ramsey kept an eye on our table throughout the service, never intrusive simply attentive. When the bill came we saw that my wife's dessert had been provided free of cost as a birthday gift, what a nice touch. Shame my birthday isn't for another 10 months!Would we go back? Certainly as it's affordable and very good fresh food which is a credit to the chef.Be aware there is no parking in the car park of the hotel except for hotel guests, however there is ample parking in the area, just bring a brolly if it's raining.

It's probably a good job we don't live locally or I'd be in here all the time! The restaurant is small and intimate. The host/server was great - friendly/attentive/welcoming. The food was amazing - great ingredients cooked simply and well, resulting in fantastic dishes. It's not the cheapest place to eat but it's certainly not expensive and I felt we received excellent value for money because the food was of such high quality. There was nothing to fault about this restaurant.

We stayed at the Cottage Lodge Hotel on Valentine's Eve and dined at White Tails. Fine cuisine, attentive service and an altogether lovely evening. Highly recommended.

Went to this little restaurant for our anniversary dinner last night and my goodness what a lovely find. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere/ambiance was perfect and the food was exceptional!! Had a truly lovely evening. Will definitely be returning and recommending to all our friends and family. Perfect

My wife and I visited White Tails whilst on a weekend mini break to the new forest and were pleasantly surprised by this little gem. We looked on trip advisor before our trip and saw it had very good reviews and these are perfectly justified.The restaurant is situated within a charming little cosy cottage and the welcome was very warm.There was a great menu choice and the service cannot be faulted.We started by sharing the home made scotch egg which was really tasty and then I had a melt in the mouth steak and my wife had a fish cake which she really enjoyed. The deserts were yum and the wine was great.We really enjoyed our evening and it contributed to our perfect weekend break in the forest.

After reading all the reviews and because we were staying at the hotel we decided to eat here.We were hoping for a great meal but it was so disappointing! Menu is pretty limited and fare I say slightly boring.It started off well with the tempura prawns but our main was dreadful- we had pork belly - worst I’ve ever had- meat was chewy, bland and incredibly fatty! I know this is a fatty cut of meat but it’s one I’ve cooked and eaten many a time and cooked properly meat should be tender and fat should have been rendered down. The choice of veg was very strange too - gratin potatoes and very creamy bland cabbage?The gravy also had no flavour.We both left the majority of the very small portion as it simply couldn’t be eaten! When plates were cleared nothing was said about it?The wine we had was excellent and had a 2nd bottle but beware I know restaurants mark up wine but this was £20 mark up per bottle!Would not recommend and don’t understand the other reviewes

Gorgeous meal, the soup is the best I've ever tasted and the steak melts in your mouth. Ramsey is an excellent host and very attentive and with his chef Matthew they make a winning team, would definitely recommend it to anybody, you won't get better service or food anywhere else. 5**** all the way.

Excellent find. Food was amazing,could not fault it. Lovely setting and the service was excellent. A real find , you must pay a visit!

We had a very warm welcome at this small and cosy restaurant. The food, though not fancy, was very tasty and well executed...I thoroughly recommend the Beef Bourgignon, it was everything I expected it to be..full of flavour, melt in the mouth beef and warming on a cold January evening.

Exceptional food, fantastic service. This was our third visit to the cottage lodge hotel and also whitetails. The food has always been excellent quality and very well presented. We've stayed at the Cottage Lodge a few times and eaten in the restaurant so knew that the food and service was good but we haven't been there for a little while so we had not met Ramsey. He was a fantastic host and the food was absolutely amazing! There were 6 of us and not one of us could fault the food or the service in any way. We would not hesitate to go back there and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone going to the New Forest. It's well worth a visit!

Me and my wife booked dinner here for New Years Eve and as always we were not disappointed! Ramsey is an amazing host who is friendly, polite and takes pride in what he does. We had a set menu that had been especially done for New Years eve and everthing from starters through to dessert was beautiful, tasty and well presented. The fillet steak is the best i've ever eaten and cooked to perfection.This is the second time we have eaten here and we would 100% recommend booking a table here.

Firstly the service was excellent, the way we were greeted and treated by the manager was exemplary. He wanted to make sure we were happy with the seating, the temperature, everything!

If you are in the Brockenhurst area this restaurant is one not to be missed.

We had a very relaxed New Year's eve dinner. Ramsey, the manager, was so friendly and professional. Don't know who the Chef is but the food was fabulous. Up to 5 star hotel standard

My Partner and I took a spontaneous trip down to the New Forest for the weekend. We was routing though the many restaurant choices within the area on Trip Advisor and stumbled across ‘White Tails Restaurant’, and we are so pleased we did!

what a gem!! Proprietor Ramsey rents the space within the Country Lodge Hotel five nights a week (for 48 weeks of the year) which makes a beautiful B & B even better!!

Better meal than we had at the pig hotel, the owner was so warming and welcoming we had such a lovely talk through the menu and the passion was clear and a special personal touch made the meal. Salmon was amazing beef filet was Excelent and red wine and cheese finished it off. Cant recommend this place enough really romantic yet not pretentious!

We visited in August and chose to eat here due to the excellent reviews on trip advisor. We certainly weren’t disappointed and the three of us had steaks which were delicious! The setting, greeting and service were all excellent and we would recommend White Tails restaurant to anyone staying in Brockenhurst.

This is part of the hotel, but run separately and you settle up after dinner like in a stand-alone restaurant. Good service, interesting menu. My wife found the food a bit bland, but I didn't.

The White Tails has a chef who really knows what he's doing. We each had a three-course meal and all courses were delicious.

Staying at the adjoining b&b;, this was an obvious choice for dinner and it didn’t disappoint. The restaurant manager was extremely courteous and created a relaxing atmosphere. There was plenty of choice on the menu and everything we chose was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable evening with excellent food.

My husband, his sister and partner and myself had a fantastic meal here. We were staying in the adjoining bed and breakfast. The food was by far the best we have tasted in a long time and we have a fair number of breaks through the year. This chef is so talented, everything beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The pork (which I had) was to die for!! The restaurant manager was friendly, welcoming and knowledgable.

Me and my partner were staying in the adjoining B&B; for 1 night and after reading very good reviews we chose to eat at White Tails. The service and ambience of the room was exceptional for couples, very romantic with music playing lightly in the background. The food itself was delicious, we both had 3 courses and the crumble for dessert was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. It was also my partners birthday and she was treated to her dessert with a candle and happy birthday written in chocolate - a very nice touch. The only very very small improvement for the restaurant would be to crank the heating up a little. However, we had a lovely night and when we’re back in the New Forest, we’ll definitely be eating here again!!!

Stayed at the adjoining hotel which is absolutely lovely and decided to go here for an evening meal. Food quite good, although expensive for what you get.However, despite being a November evening there was no heating on. When we arrived we requested a warm table and were sat next to a radiator, but it was stone cold ! Despite repeated requests to turn the heating on and given various excuses, the radiator finally reached lukewarm just as we left. Went to the Thai restaurant in the village on the next night which was very good and warm ! Alternatively wear a thick thermal vest and your coat to dinner.

Such a delightful hose/owner of the restaurant, really hands on and knowledgable about the food and provenance. He tries to manage his sittings to give his clients the best service and food. WELL WORTH A VISIT THANK YOU.

Booked a dinner on Saturday night as we were staying in the B&B; attached. The restaurant was lovely - dimly lit, romantic and with tasteful background music (enough to fill any gaps in conversation, yet not overpowering). The host, Ramsey, was attentive and informative without overstepping, while the service was efficient and thoughtful. The food was beautiful - nothing too 'cheffy', just high quality local ingredients cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were perfect for a three-course meal, and I was left feeling very pleasantly full. Prices were, I think, justified for the quality of food and service that we enjoyed. We shall definitely book again.

We had an excellent meal here last night, Ramsay was very knowledgable regarding the menu and attentive without being intrusive (a great guy) The food was amazing with portion sizes just right to enjoy a three course meal. Myself and my husband agreed it was the best meal out we have had in a long time. Obviously the prices were slightly higher than in a pub but worth every penny to get quality ingredients. Whitebait/scotch egg, belly pork, apple & berry crumble/salted caramel cheesecake were all amazingly good.

Lovely food, staff were attentive but slow. The quality of dining is good. We would visit again, but would recommend service was more up to speed.

My husband and I stayed two nights in the New Forest and both nights chose to eat at White Tails. Over the two nights, we enjoyed 12 dishes and they were all absolutely delicious. If you visit the New Forest without visiting White Tails, you will be missing out!

Delicious food, very enthusiastic and knowledgable owner who could not do enough for us or his other customers, he managed to make us all feel important. Lovely atmosphere, very well arranged with spacious tables and simple decor. A really enjoyable experience. Would definitely go again and well worth a visit.

Just had a meal at the White Tails restaurant. It was absolutely superb, could not fault the food at all. All three courses were delicious. The owner Ramsey is the perfect host, very courteous, obliging and nothing is too much trouble. Look forward to returning here when we next visit The New Forest.

Good menu selection using local ingredients prices about average for the area.. Wine list not extensive but enough for most palettes..Did find the restaurant to be very dark with the main lights turned down low..Only criticism was with my partners meal she had lovely lamb shanks but the chive mash was very salty. Three course meal for two with a bottle of wine came to £100

Would definitely recommend this restaurant. The service was really great and the food was delicious. We had a wonderful evening and we would go back again.

Service, food and ambience combine for a very enjoyable dining experience. Our latest visit was with eight guests. The dishes were chosen in advance, this meant they were served without undue delay, they were well presented and very tasty.
