First time here night out with the family late Mothers Day treat .Food good staff very good .lovely restaurant. I would highly recommend it .Thank you .

Roaring log fire on a cold evening, just the job. Guy who was serving us was a great laugh, knew his audience and we all had a good giggle. Great evening spent with friends. Food was great. Lovely choice as well.

Really grieves me to leave this review but sadly this little cosy gastro pub has gone downhill in both food offering and service over the 7 years we’ve been frequenting it. We love sitting by the fire and having a few drinks - that hasn’t changed hence three for atmosphere (I’m being fair and honest here). We went in November and noticed the service was a lot slower, a change in staff and a couple of issues with our meal (dry chicken breast) and cold sides but thought it was a one off. Historically, the Sunday roast that was always an absolute rock solid choice which last week was overdone with dry beef with a cold Yorkshire pudding. What upset me most was hearing the bar manager laying into a young barman over his lack of knowledge over using the coffee machine. We heard it two tables away and I didn’t appreciate having to witness someone being publicly humiliated in this way. We will revert to the tried and tested food and service at the Duck on the Pond where the previous owners have moved to.

We had such a great meal here on Sunday. We arrived somewhat flustered and late (having called ahead) with two young hangry kids and the staff still couldn't have been nicer to us. We felt immediately welcomed and look after. The food was fantastic (the beef in the Sunday roast was to die for), great wine, lovely cozy and stylish atmosphere. Just everything you want from a lovely country pub really! Very happy it's local to us, we'll be back many more times I'm sure.

Haven’t visited for a couple of months so decided to call by for a couple of drinks, we were both so excited to enjoy a couple of hours at our favourite pub, the first thing I notice once we’re at the bar is the Guinness has gone and the John Smiths is off, which is a shame, my partner came especially for the Guinness. It seemed to be replaced by the new Camden Stout. We love to sit and enjoy a drink by the fire and soak up the gorgeous cosy vibes of the pub but we’re constantly distracted by the staff around the bar and their loud conversations, talking about getting drunk. The staff all seemed different to the last few times we’ve popped by. Me and my partner left questioning has this pub changed hands? We drive out here on purpose for the lovely atmosphere but today I’ve left with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, it definitely seemed different all round. Can’t comment on the food as we only had drinks, but in the past it has been wonderful. I hope they can bring back the old charm and we would come back in a heartbeat.

No star for food because I didn't have any food. However, the pub is very cosy.

1st visit....Would have appreciated more V options. Had the Wellington and the pastry was very very dark Overall my table were very happy. Nice ambience..... Update 2nd visit. Could have been a different place The waitress was not in the right job, food was amazingly slow. A confident waitress would have been on top of this and explained. We had a table booked for 7:30 pm and were still waiting for our first course....bread and oil at 8:35pm. We had to ask where our drinks were. GF bread was a laughable offering, actually all the bread was. Why not serve butter that hasn't come straight out of the fridge? Butter was solid and so there wasn't enough by miles Mains took forever and so did the desserts £9 for the tiniest slice of dessert.. £9!!!! This is a village pub. Whilst appreciating you need to employ local teenagers, they really need to be up to the job. Sorry. My friends told me one meal was dry and bland and one meal was greasy. Such a shame.

We made a booking here but forgot to tell them I was 'with dog' so we had to sit in the bar area but I was really happy we did! We sat right by the fire and had loads of room around us so were very comfortable. The food was all delicious and well presented. The only issue I had was with some of the bread that came which was undercooked but this was only a couple of slices in the breadboard we ordered to start with. There were some interesting sounding vegetarian options and even though I'm not vegan, the dish I chose was vegan-friendly and really flavoursome. The biscoff cheesecake to finish was a big hit... insanely good. This is a cosy pub in a lovely little village setting which was the perfect spot for lunch after a very chilly and muddy walk!

Lovely place for a meal. Compared to some in the area this is expensive but the food is amazing and worth it, of restaurant Quality. Dog friendly and staff friendly. Nice open fire, clean and decor lovely.

Delicious food. Fantastic black pudding scotch eggs and wonderful apple pie with black vanilla ice cream. Really friendly staff and put us in a quiet part of the pub as we requested for my hard of hearing Dad. Highly recommend thus place.

Excellent meal, personalised and very attentive service and a lovely atmosphere. It was a last minute reservation to celebrate and the welcome was great. The quality of the food was very good and well presented too. All the waiting staff were friendly, helpful and in particular one, who even printed out some word games for my younger son to entertain him. The decor is very nice as well with good parking and easy to find. We will certainly be back.

We went as a family of 5 on a busy Friday night. Food was absolutely gorgeous, staff were attentive, but service was really slow. We waited a long time for our starters & mains. We had up chase, rather than anyone explain why it was taking so long. We appreciate (& pleased to see) it being so busy, but better communication from staff would help.

We visited the White Horse twice during our stay in the area, a return visit was a must ( does not happen often). The menu offers a lovely choice from a Burger to top quality Beef, Lamb, Chicken and Salmon. On our second visit there was live music which added to the cosy atmosphere. We will be returning at some point and wished we lived nearer. Thank you to all the staff especially the kitchen team....excellant food, great wine choices and smily faces.

Nothing special. Overpriced for pub food. Children's meal, was extortionate for a miniscule amount of food. On the up side, it's a quaint old building in a lovely village.

Food was good, but despite not being busy, took a long time to arrive… then one of the 5 meals was missing. 3 out of 4 had finished when the 5th meal arrived.

We were in the King Sutton area at lunch time and asked for a recommendation as to where to get some food. We were pointed in the direction of the White Horse and landed in the what turned out to be one of the most delightful pubs we had been in for many a year. The reception we received was warm and welcoming, the service was amazing, and the food was excellent. What amazed us even more was the bill when the time came to depart - it was very inexpensive. We highly recommend the White Horse as a must visit pub if you are in the area.

Popped in with friends as passed in by accident. Wow, can only be described as a great. The food menu was comprehensive and costs were reasonable. But…..when the mussels arrived, these can only described as out of this world! The ploughman’s was also huge, fresh and delicious. The lady who was looking after guests couldn’t help enough, drinks to the table etc. highly recommend this be found public house.

What a great find. Good old 'Mr Google'. Having met some American friends off their train at Bicester Village Station, booked here for lunch. EXCELLENT. Great real Ales, fantastic menu / food and everyone was so friendly. Could have easily stayed all afternoon.

We had an excellent meal last night, quite possibly the best seafood linguine I have ever had! Generous portion sizes, not just basic pub grub, much higher quality and clearly cooked by a proper chef! Great service, left to enjoy ourselves and food not rushed out. Beautiful pub in a lovely village. Highly recommend

Nice venue but food was poor. Lamb cofta mainly a huge bowl of salad.

Sunday lunch for our family. As our party was large we had pre-booked, with a couple of dietary issues which were handled well and without any fuss. Food was fantastic, very tasty and plentiful. Staff amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be returning.

Absolutely amazing lunch, for someone who never clears her plate I ate the lot! I will be back and highly recommended this place

Shockingly bad meal…service was very poor, food was rancid (literally…chicken salad, salad leaves were off and were hidden @ bottom of plate…dressing was out of a bottle… totally inedible and should have never got out of the kitchen). The second really poor meal - never again…

Only stopped for a pint. Seemed nice. I've had a meal in here also. The tables were set out nicely, enough that my OAP friends could easily hear what was being said. Food was good. We weren't looking for a cheap meal. I thought that we found it reasonable.

Booking for 22 people as a birthday surprise. What a fabulous evening. Food and service were excellent. Considering the variety of starters, mains and desserts, hats off to the chef. Youssef and his team looked after us really well. Brilliant. Thank you.

What a cracking pub and bistro pub, service is excellent and the food is superb. What’s great is the Gluten Free options…I cannot recommend this pub enough. You won’t be disappointed.

Idyllic village setting, gorgeous sunny day, cold beers and great roast dinner! Met my brother and his family here for Sunday lunch, as it was more or less a "meet in the middle" spot for us both. Lovely traditional relaxed pub with comfy covered outside seating at the back. Food was delicious too.

My partner and I went for Sunday Lunch at the White Horse on 7th May and sat outside. We both ordered a roast chicken dinner. It was the worst. Sunday roast I have ever had. Most of the roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips were burnt and swimming in oil. The cabbage was overcooked and slimy and the chicken was dry. The Yorkshire Pudding, looked impressive but was cold, hard and inedible. I took the meals inside to complain, I was met by a gentleman who apologised and said he would come outside to talk to us. We waited 15 minutes and nobody came, so we left. I emailed the pub and received an apology but to be honest, I do not expect food of such a low standard. Whilst waiting, we happened to look at the outside bar area, there was a tray of Yorkshire Puddings left uncovered right next to an open waste bin, the puddings were also covered in flies! Having worked in food handling and hygiene, I know food must be covered and stored hygienically, and at the correct temperature (it was a very warm day) even if indoors and away from any contamination, i.e. bins and risk of vermin/flies etc., I will not recommend this pub for food, it was awful.

Just got back from having my birthday dinner here- food was amazing! Best we have had within the banbury area in a very long time! Would highly recommend!

Stopped for lunch whilst on the way home on the motorbike, making a point of visiting it due to the other reviews, only to be told, quite rudely, that they weren't serving. Considering the place was basically empty with every table set out, not sure if it was the bike gear or just not looking fancy enough, but very disappointing. A simple explanation if you were fully booked might have been nice.

Lovely stop off on a lunchtime walk. Sat outside for Sunday lunch. Food was excellent and so was the service. The triple cooked pork belly was a definite favourite!

Parked the car in Newbottle to walk our puppy, walked to Charlton & on to Kings Sutton. Found this village pub, The White Horse. Decided to stop for coffee & lunch as dog friendly. Staff friendly & smiley. Set Sunday lunch menu had great choice. Food was extremely tasty & presentation of a high standard. We chose triple cooked pork loin with seasonal vegetables, roast potatoes & Yorkshire pudding, followed by Tiramisu & coffee. We would highly recommend & we will return again. Thank you

Had a delicious lunch here yesterday. I started with the Black Pudding & Cumberland Sausage Scotch Egg, which was SIMPLY SUBLIME. Followed it with the Confit Duck that was also perfectly done. Nice selection of wines and beers, attentive, friendly service and a wonderful atmosphere as well…what more could you want???

We were looking forward to a nice family Sunday lunch and were pretty disappointed. The lady serving drinks at the bar could not have been less friendly. There was a nice table at the bar area which we asked if we could sit at (we had reserved) but were told no, this table was reserved for another party. The table remained empty during our entire visit. We waited nearly an hour for our food from ordering. Were given water but no water glasses - again the lady at the bar was unhelpful - she wasn't very keen to give us glasses as she was running out. The food was actually very good so it was a shame that the service and attitude of one member of staff let this pub down enormously.

Really gorgeous food.we went for a work shop. staff were really attentive and the food was memorable. Will definitely go again.

Fab Sunday lunch today the beef was delicious! Greeted by a friendly team of young staff offering brilliant service throughout the meal! Lovely welcoming atmosphere and dog friendly. Loving all the outdoor improvements too. Will be back soon ☺️

Very cosy place, especially by the fire Excellent service

Not been here since it changed hands, really lovely ambience as you walk in, very cosy, service was quick and very polite, food was absolutely lovely no complaints there, all round a lovely evening, we were a table of 11, always check your bill if you are with a larger group as they will add the service charge on the bill, my sister didn't realise and left a cash tip on the table as well, so check your bill first. Highly recommended, I had the beef burger it was lovely.

Decent village pub restaurant. We came in for a quick lunch. Service was efficient and friendly. Menu was comprehensive, w pizza, starters and mains. We had fish & chips, mushrooms pizza and buttermilk fried chicken. I would say they are fine but not particularly memorable. We may come back if we happen to be around and it’s time for a meal

Been in a couple of times now and each occasion has been well worth the drive. The staff are polite and attentive, the food is prompt and lovely. The coffee is to die for

Absolutely incredible, would highly recommend. Food was outstanding and really not too highly priced given the standard, I would have happily paid more for the quality of food I had. So much to choose from, I wanted at least 4 of the starters! The building is beautiful, lots of little nooks and crannies and the decoration just adds to the atmosphere. I can't wait to bring more family and friends.

We had an excellent dinner at The White Horse. Food was very high quality. Very friendly staff with Lucas and Charlotte being very attentive to the needs of a 15 person group. We ordered in advance and our choices arrived without a hitch. Great ambiance with all parties seeming to be enjoying themselves as much as we did.

This is a nice restaurant if you fancy a simple bite to eat the food on the menu is better than it is actually in real life they are trying hard but unfortunately at the moment there is still a little way to go, this said pension in soup was actually very very nice, 4 stars is a generous score unfortunately I cannot do anything less as it would be a 3.5 this said the atmosphere and the people are warm and welcoming and the bar area / bar restaurant is dog friendly so big thumbs up for that. 😃😃

Excellent lunch for 9. Attentive staff and good food. Portion size has diminished over the summer (last visit) but food standard remained. Beer is good quality. Nice country pub but a few problems with the fire smoking.

It's a really nice pub with reasonable food. We arrived at our booked time - 1pm and received our lunch at 2:05pm. It's just too long to wait, particularly as we had the set lunch and the restaurant wasn't full.

What an excellent pub and restaurant. Beautiful old stone building, full of atmosphere , very busy, which is always a good sign, and great food. Staff so friendly and helpful, excellent service, it could not. Have been better. All set in a pretty village, on the green, church on the other side, if you like the quiet classic English village experience, you will not find better.

I was really impressed with both the standard of the Sunday lunch and the friendly staff. It was good value for money and the food was delicious. I would have liked a few more fresh vegetables though. All in all excellent.

I chose the White Horse as the place that I wanted to propose to my girlfriend at - we had never been but always thought it was lovely. I wanted to do something special so I emailed the team, and from the start, the team...

Food was okay at best. The roast chicken was described with rich gravy but seemed like it was ready made because it lacked flavour and the same thin gravy was served with the beef and the pork. The service was slow and no one did a quality check to see if everything was good. The Yorkshire pudding was impressive but still did not make up for the rest of the dissatisfaction. Used to love this restaurant.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch today! Thank you for being able to accommodate us despite some of our group being 40 mins late. Lovely pub, really lovely home cooked food - we’ll be back!

A nice find on a short stay in King's Sutton. My beef shin pie was top notch. My friend had pork belly and found it overcooked. Service was really good. Recommended.

We went here for a three course meal, my lady had an excellent onion soup, I had a lovely runny scotch egg which was delicous for starters then my lady had a steak&vegetable pie which was tasty but didn't have enough meat, I had some amazing Lamb cutlets with mashed potatoes&vegetables then we went on to desserts I had a delicous sticky toffee pudding, my lady had bread&butter pudding, the custard was horrible and also the raspberry coulis with mixed with it which should have been separate on the plate, the menu didn't say that it was served with anything so the custard was not expected.

We had a fantastic meal here the night before our wedding. It was the first time our families had met so there was a lot of pressure on getting it right and we absolutely did with The White Horse! We were in a separate area which was really nicely done and we were so well looked after all evening. We actually got the time of our booking wrong so were very late but the staff were understanding and never made us feel bad. The food was amazing and gave a good variety for a big group to choose from. I had the pork belly and it was delicious. Would definitely recommend for a good meal if you’re in the area. Thank you!

Although the pub is lovely, very cosy, and the staff great, i feel the food was not of a standard to warrant the cost. Pork belly was a little overdone and was hard in places, and the potato rosti was so hard i struggled to cut it. The pudding were presented lovely, but i was overall disappointed.

We had Sunday lunch at this handsome pub. My wife’s Duck Confit was strangely concrete like. She had to pare bits off using the steak knife had been given to eat my beef with. The dish came with a good carrot purée and broccoli. I...

This is a lovely pub restaurant, set beside the village green in Kings Sutton, near Banbury. Met up with friends, nice pub Sunday lunch, though there are other meals from the menu. Would recommend and will visit again when the opportunity arises.
