Went for lunch the other day with my friend, the meal was lovely, gentleman how served me was very pleasant could do enough to help .. My meal was lovely, very friendly, pub dog 🐕 friendly, nice atmosphere, staff very nice , will going back soon keep the good work !!!!

Haven't been since the new people took over so decided to give it a try, we were not disappointed. We hadn't booked but friendly and accommodating staff managed to find us a table and gave us the menus. Ordered a selection of baguettes for our party with drinks, food excellent value only wish I had ordered the handcut chips, tasted one of my partners and they were the best ever! Saw some of the other dishes going out to the tables and all looked appetising, looking forward to a return visit soon!

Well I can’t believe I’m writing this but OMG this has got to be the best hidden gem in the Hartlepool area if not the NE! The staff Nathan Sue & Terri need to take a bow! We’ve been a couple of times and I honestly can’t say how accommodating they are! How they get everything right, food quality, chefs expertise and the front of house! We had the “what the duck” parmo and was absolutely delicious! Sue was our server and from the min we walked in we were treated like long lost friends, albeit nearly caused a domestic as she suggested I share my parmo so Mr J could have something different! Errrm no! All in all an amazing meal and great ambience!

Called in this Valentine’s Day. My wife ordered a baguette and I ordered a Cumberland sausage with chips along with a sticky toffee pudding and a pint of Speckled Hen. Absolutely delicious. Service was great also. Will definitely be coming back soon. We’ll done to All.

Possibly the worst meal I have had for a long time. The batter on the fish was so thick it wasn’t cooked properly. The starter wasn’t season properly and the place itself was cold. I ordered a cup of tea and got half a small pot. It didn’t come near filling the cup. The sad thing was that we were out for a birthday meal.

Booked for today evening tea to make a change. The service was excellent, and the staff were helpful. They get 10 out of 10 off me, along with food quality and quantity. A must try if you're in the area.

Good food with real hand cut chips also, the only thing I could recomend to the kitchen staff is never serve hot food on a stone cold plate, which I received, its a basic error if dealing with hot food, other than that I will be returning for more, but will mention the hot plate option next time :-)

Really enjoyed the food today. The tomato soup was really tasty, and my husband enjoyed his bao buns and Katsu curry. Would go again, but you do need to book as it’s only a tiny place.

Empty tables on a Saturday night. Pre ordered from Festive Menu… Waited 1 hour inbetween our soups and main course. How is it possible to serve cold Yorkshie Puddings/Turkey. Overall poorly presented with burnt roast potatoes. The Mince pie was sent back too salty/unedable… At £56 x2, not good enough❗️ Come on White Heart you must do better‼️

Been to the White Hart a few times. Didn’t realise it had changed owners. We pre ordered our meals as there were 9 of us. The soup came out in very small bowls, the child’s portion was tiny. Soup was very tasty and the baked bread was lush. Chicken strips were nice however, one portion had one full chicken strip with two little scraggly bits (looked like the broken bits you get in the bottom of a frozen bag). The mince pie (which was removed from the bill) was far too salty to eat. Christmas turkey lunches were just say warm, the roasties were very hot and the Yorkshire pud was cold! The was far too much red cabbage, over powered everything! The Parmos were nice and tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful. We waited quite a while for our mains to come out to say we had pre ordered.

First time visiting this place, we've tried a few times to get booked in but never managed until now. We weren't disappointed! I opted for turkey and all the trimmings and the red cabbage was absolutely delicious. Everyone on our table had something different and they all said it was a gorgeous meal and so filling. The staff were friendly, polite and attentive without being overbearing. A great experience and we will definitely be back on many occasions if we can get a table.

Three meat Sunday roast £15.95p three stars meat cooked well but there was hardly any vegetables two small roast potatoes little bit of mash. I do not think good value for money.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was sublime. Highly recommended.

I think the food is overpriced, especially the vegetarian option. Prefer the smaller portion options when available. Part of my fellow diners' food was not cooked. Staff offered to replace this, but we declined put off by this. Service was very good.

Nice pub, food good, staff welcoming and friendly, but if you book a table ensure you get one in the lounge . Arrived Friday early evening for a family tea, given a table in the bar which was extremely busy and noisy, struggled to hear the lady asking for our drink order. Some older female on the table behind us, talking very loudly and using very bad language oblivious to the fact our party contained 2 children, not pleasant. If I returned it would only be on condition that I was in the lounge. Another party arrived and we're seated next to a crowd of people standing at the bar, needless to say they didn't stay to eat and left after approx half an hour of arriving. Be aware it is a bar area and you may be seated there, probably ok during the week but certainly not on a Friday. Spoiled it for me.

Such a small, rustic pub with a very nice, friendly vibe. The staff members are all very polite and lovely. Even when taking drinks orders, she was recommending gins to have and she was definitely right about the blackberry gin. She helped my partner with what food to get and she wasn’t wrong about that either. The vegan mushroom bruschetta and garden burger were beautiful! I had the haddock and chips and think it was the best haddock and chips I have had at a pub. The batter was crispy but the fish just melted in your mouth all the way through. You could tell the chips and tartar sauce were homemade. I just didn’t want it to end. Such a lovely pub in a quiet place. Definitely worth the visit.

Veg was lovely, gammon and pork was nice, beef was terribly undercooked and chewy, wouldn't recommend beef

Fabulous Sunday lunch! The beef was tender and tasty. We each had 3 large slices. Each of the vegetables was special - nothing simply boiled, instead cooked to perfection in some super-mouth-watering way. My elderly mother has said the Yorkshire pud was the BEST she had ever had. We were warmly welcomed, served our glass of Merlot quickly and then felt very cared-for throughout the meal. Lovely staff, fantastic meal. No room for pud!

Good food, nice decor, food good and filling, pleasant staff

This was our first visit post Shaun & co. Sadly, we found it disappointing. Granted, it was a cold day but there was no heating on so the place was cold. The meals were served on cold plates which doesn't help. Whilst I appreciate this cost of living increase, it was quite a surprise to see the lite bites menu no longer include chips and are now a chargeable item@ £1.50. It is early days for the new Owners but I think overall there is room for improvement.

Lovely place for food and drink.

Haven't visited for about a year as last experience wasn't that good. As now under new management we had a walk up and we were not disappointed. Good food and friendly welcome from new owner and existing staff. Definitely be going back.

As a party of 4 we thought we'd give it a try. We eat out on a regular basis. We live not far away so this could have been our local. However the food was very average and the portions extremely small. I did mention this to the new owner who did pay us excellent lip service and came across as very pleasant and polite. We do wish the very best for the White Heart's future in these difficult times. However sadly we won't be back.

Can't fault the staff. The Yorkshire pudding, however, needed a steak knife as a minimum to cook it.

I always come here for a meal when in town but after tonights experience never again, very limited menu children riding up and down the corridor on scooters, rolling around on the floor and apparently they belonged to a staff member who couldn't get child care, asked to see a desert menu which we couldnt order from as we could only order from the list the staff member had in her hand ? So what was the point of giving us the desert menu, all in all very poor.

Called in for the first time in many years for our evening meal. Bar / pub is lovely inside and out the back. Very comfy and warm feeling. Staff were pleasant to begin with and very helpful and friendly. Food wasn't great. The cheeseburger and chips were nice however the rest of our meals weren't pleasant (see pics and vids). When asked about the food, my partner squeezed water out of the veg in front of the staff to prove how bad his meals was. When the bill was given there was no discount applied to compensate for how poor the food was. The bill came to £55 which I think was extremely overpriced for the poor quality of the food.

Zum Essen kann ich leider nichts sagen, da wir das Restaurant vorzeitig verlassen haben. Zu aller erst wurden uns dreckige Gläser gebracht, die wir dann wiederum gegen dreckige Gläser eingetauscht haben. Dann wurde uns Ketchup und Majo gebracht und die Majo war seit 2 Monaten abgelaufen. Das ist absolut inakzeptabel und ekelhaft ! Wir wollten daraufhin unser Geld zurück, welches erst in 14 Tagen zurücküberwiesen werden soll. Ich bin gespannt... Das Restaurant kann ich aus gesundheitlichen Gründen nicht empfehlen.

From the look of previous reviews this place is going downhill. I'm not surprised given how they treated my mother recently. For Xmas I purchased my mum food vouchers as it's her favourite foody pub. She has not been in great health recently but picked up enough to visit this premises. Unfortunately the vouchers were 3 weeks out of date so they refused to take them. Upset and embarrassed she left vowing never to return. I can understand that inflationary pressures are putting up prices at the moment but im staggered that they didn't even offer the current value of the vouchers. Appalling. We won't be back and White Hart I want my money back.

Very friendly and happy to help. Small venue but very good food with lots to choose from. Drinks reasonably priced as well.

Really disappointed in out meal on Sunday. Food served on cold plates, then took an age to bring the gravy and then finally the veg came, by which time the meat was cold. It had been meant as a birthday celebration but after finishing our cold meal, we were not asked if we wanted dessert (or if the meal was ok!) so we paid the bill and left. Really random as this place has been known for good service and excellent food for many years, but we won't be back again now until we hear of some big changes.

We were in Hart on business, and dropped into the White Hart Inn for a quick bite around 5pm on 30th June, 2023. I had the Curry of the Day, which was a 'Madras', and my wife had the Brie starter. They were fine, and reasonable priced. The lounge is a nice bright space, and the staff were very efficient, and friendly. In fact, during the few days we spent in County Durham, everyone we met was very friendly. We had remarked on it several times. But it was all going to end on a sour note, right there in the White Hart Inn. While my wife paid the bill, and I was considering which route to take back to Edinburgh, I was challenged by the lout sitting at the next table, apparently keen to impress his girlfriend. He accused me of 'looking at him'. No, really. I thought that was quite funny, a reaction that made him even more angry. It was like a scene from the school playground. Nothing to do with the White Hart Inn, but I don't think we'll be back.

Really nice place, staff very helpful and friendly. Steak, not really cooked very well. (Steak knives would have been a good idea). But will definitely be going again. Manager did not charge for my meal.

Lovely village pub landlord is very friendly as are the rest of the staff. The food is really nice lovely home made chips. Four of us had different meals all well worth the money. Will definitely return.

Came today Tues 6/6/23 with a group of 7 friends , staff are very friendly, food was fabulous & delicious. Hubby and I have eaten here several times over the years, this visit was for tea as a first meeting with our son's in laws, there were 6 of us. We had eaten there a couple of months earlier and thought it was ok for a tea so we were looking forward to a nice evening. Company was great and the food for 4 of us was ok for a pub tea but us two "mam's" were very disappointed, we ordered scampi and it came partially cooked, not cooked then left to cool but actually only partially cooked! Of course we alerted the server who picked a piece from my plate and put it in his mouth to test for himself just to make sure, he came back to the table saying he'd spat the scampi out in the kitchen and we were to be getting 2 freshly cooked scampi meals. The rest of our table were almost done with their meals by the time we got ours but we had to leave those meals too as the scampi was so overcooked it was inedible....... again, the server picked a piece from our plates to check we were telling the truth! Our compensation for our ruined meals were he told us he would be taking the scampi off the bill....erm yes!! not even a good will dessert on offer! We're in no rush to return anytime soon.

Visited Sunday 5th for Sunday lunch with my husband . The staff were so welcoming and when the food arrived it did not disappoint . The beef was delicious fresh vegetables were cooked to perfection and great mash with roasties .

Visited this outstanding pub with 2 friends on Tuesday night. What a lovely experience. We were made to feel so welcome as soon as we walked through the door. We arrived early (booking is essential) our table wasn't quite ready so we were invited to have a seat in the bar until it was available. The bar area was so cosy we stayed & had our meal there. Staf are amazing, they make you feel like you have been visiting for years ! The food is fantastic. If you are going to have a chicken parmesan don't eat for a week!! They are huge. I would like to give this pub no stars so we are guaranteed to get booked in but it is a fab place & deserves more than 5* looking forward to going back.

Fabulous Sunday lunch and will definitely be back. We used to go every week years ago until it changed hands and went downhill rapidly. Have heard good things since new owner took over so gave it a whirl. Beautiful food. Also much better decor now and looks clean and fresh. Can’t wait to go for midweek lunch. Oh also staff are so friendly and accommodating.

Sunday lunch at the White Hart Inn, absolutely beautiful. Beef cooked perfect and so were the vegetables. Would thoroughly recommend. Only criticism is it's a small country pub with limited room.

What a lovely hidden gem this pub and restaurant is! The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive and the food is delicious.
