Jacob served us from the pavement, his voice carried across the shop well. His serenading of the menu made the night. Don’t forget to ask for his special sauce.

I came to whistler's for my early evening Sunday feed, to be greeted by a titan of the takeaway industry. Jacob's masterful knowledge of the menu, friendly manner and strong, gentle hands left me at ease as I made my order .A truly delightful experience, the food was also good.

The fish and chips were the good stuff you would expect from down by the coast but what really made this experience worth four stars was the lovely customer service I received from my server, I believe her name was Emily. Lovely girl who was very kind and speedy and made the whole trip worth my while. Hope she severs me again the next time I go!

Really good fish'n'chips! We're repeat - as in back again and again - customers. Today it was to pick up a meal to celebrate Great Granny's 99th birthday! The service was excellent and even included a birthday card. Thank you!

Staff claimed to have no knowledge of an online order despite being shown confirmation. They mumbled something about a new computer system. Rather than apologise for their defective online ordering service and proceed to cook the order immediately they still hadn't bothered to rectify this after nearly an hour of standing outside in the cold and rain. They simply didn't bother to cook the order despite continually asking what was happening with the it. 'I'll start it now' or 'in 10 minutes' Meanwhile people were coming in, ordering food, getting it and leaving. In the end the staff reluctantly handed over a refund when after 50 minutes of waiting the order still wasn't cooked. On their facebook page they ask for complaints to be sent to the owner rather than leaving bad reviews - I have done this and now the email is being ignored too, hence this review. I'm sure the food is fine but don't trust their online service or expect any decent apology from the shop staff or the owner when buying from them goes wrong. Appalling customer service.

The fish and mushy peas were nice enough but the chips tasted like ‘warm ups’ or over cooked and stale. Don’t normally go to this place, we will stick to our usual place where the chips are much better.

For me the chips were dry. Cod, tasted fine, I prefer thick and gooey batter. There's was crispy. Pea fritter, good. Portion is two smaller ones, tasty.All well packed in separate insulated paper bags and polystyrene container in brown, paper carrier bag. Lovely village. Friendly and good service. Disappointed by the chips in particular. Would have been an anticipated favourite place, and location and all. They need to improve the chips at least.

It's not often we have a treat of chips for tea so it was very disappointing that on more than one occasion the chips have tasted unpleasant, anaemic and stale. Its our local fish and chip shop so I would like to support them but won't go again. Not only that, I had made a phone call and returned after 30 minutes and then had to wait 30 minutes because they'd mislaid my order. There was no apology or discount given because of this.

We recently placed a large order for an annual event. In the past, the quality of the food, freshness and heat has been remarkable, but not this time I'm afraid. Food was cold and overcooked.

Large order placed on Sunday night which was put together within the time advised, service was friendly and helpful, and food was excellent.

I hadn't been to Whistler's for a good few years, but found it just as good if not better than ever. I don't know what they do to those chips, but they're completely different to any other chip shop and tasted very good eaten whilst walking home in the rain! Also a covid-friendly ordering system, nice staff and food cooked fresh to order.

Used to enjoy fish and chips from Whistler's, not now, the chips lacked taste, the fish was bland and the pies hardly any filling. Needs to improve.

Haven’t eaten here for a while and I won’t be back in a hurry.I had cod and chips. The cod was thin and tasteless. The batter managed to be both greasy and dry! However it was crispy. I also had a bone, which didn’t help things!The chips were chewy and hard.It was almost like last nights leftovers were heated up.

Simply the best chip shop chips I have ever tasted served with a super sized battered Haddock and curry sauce devoured on the little bench outside in the sunshine. Absolutely delicious. Will definitely visit again.

Drinks 0/10 Food - 8/10 chips and fish cake were a little overdone but still good. We didn’t however gets the drinks we paid for and we didn’t have time to wait for them to come back for them.

The best local chippy around! The food is always great and as is the service. The most recent time, I spoke to a lady named Jessica who made sure I had everything I needed before I left.

We went at peak time when it was busy but we did not need to wait long at all, Jess was really helpful and was great at the front dealing with the customers. Our chicken nuggets were the best I've tasted and great portion sizes.

The quality of the chips were awful. Dry, overcooked & tasteless. The delivery was missing items and the way the female manager handled this was appalling and unprofessional. I would not recommend this place to my enemy and certainly won’t be using this chip shop again

Husband wanted fish and chips for Father's Day meal. Ordered online but when it arrived we were missing a couple of items. Called the shop and Jess was fantastic, sorted it all out and got our missing items (and some extras as an apology) delivered to us within 10mins. Food was great as always.

Called in here with a friend while passing through area. Cod and chips, eaten on the bench in the square, after a quick pint in the adjoining pub garden.Probably the best chips either of us have tasted in years, either from local chippies or expensive restaurants. And good fish as well.An enthusiastic group of young people running the place who do their job very well indeed. Excellent work. Well done.

Usually go here and food is good but wasn't today ordered cod +chips and sausage +chips. Sausage was fine cod was OK but well over cooked and chips , well they were awful. Seemed they were oven chips that had been fried and over done not what you expect from somewhere that is usually OK and has great reviews. Won't be going there again.

The food was one of the best I've ever had from a chippy, especially the chicken nuggets, by far the best I have ever tasted and get so many of them! Jess and Daisy were both really polite and talkative and were also very helpful when I had some questions. Great Chippy!

Well what can you say there is nothing more delicious than the food that they serve here. All the added extras like the homemade fish cakes and the new battered Halloumi was to die for and the service from a lady Emma was polite and cheerful and very informative about their new products on the menu Thank you we will be back

First of all, The food is cooked to order therefore you expect to wait a short time so I advice preordering by phone or online. The fact the food is cooked to order gives it the best quality, its mouthwateringly good. The service here is second to none, the staff are always polite and happy to assist you when taking your order. Look out for the monthly specials - The big Whistler this month... Double cheese burger with bacon, lashes of sauce and onion. Oooo I can't forget the battered halloumi... Nom. Definitely highly recommend

Hands down the best fish and chips in the area and beyond. A friend of mine lives in Chichester and travels here to get his fill ive used whistler for many years and always bang on! The staff are amazing too, especially the lovely, charming manager. I think it’s Emma.

Wow great fish&chips again last night ordered the haddock meal deal went large when I got home I open the bag and found not a large haddock but a medium and small so much fish I had to give the dog some fish and she love it this shop pulls all the stops out to satisfy us customer they must of run out off large haddock and not to let me down gave me what they did and they always cook their fish& chips fresh you can tell I have never had a bad food from them big thank you for all your efforts x

Me and my boss were looking for somewhere special for fridays lunch and boy did we get that! From the moment I opened the bag and the smelt the vinegar, I knew it was going to deliver. Greeted with smiley faces, I couldn’t recommend this place enough

We ordered 4 fish, a scampi and a special burger, all with chips. It was being packed as we turned up and we didn’t have to wait at all. We had to walk a good 5 minutes to the park, where we were having a socially distanced celebration, but the food was all still piping hot by the time we got there. Well wrapped, good portion sizes and really delicious!! We will be back!

As someone with Coeliac Disease it it really difficult to find a takeaway you can trust. I have been to restaurants before who have assured me they have cooked gluten free and I’ve still had a reaction. If you know you know and a reaction to gluten can take a few days to get over. I have never had any issues at Whistlers and they have always labelled my gluten free food clearly. The curry sauce is gluten free and it’s amazing! The telephone manner from Josh was very polite cheery and helpful and Daisy was complete service with a smile and again very polite! 100 % satisfaction.

Thought I’d ordered large cod and chips for two but had only in fact ordered the fish. When I arrived Emma questioned it and had done chips “just in case” made a mistake. I was under no pressure to have the chips but had she not thought to do any I would have had to have waited whilst they cooked. Thank you Emma, you and your staff work so hard and the food is always excellent.

Ordered food online for Saturday lunchtime but accidentally pressed collection instead of delivery. I didn't realise till right on delivery time. I rang and spoke to Emma who was really helpful. Not only did she arrange delivery but also rang me back to tell me that the order had been done and was on its way. The Cod and chips was still hot and extremely tasty. So not only wonderful food but excellent customer service. I would highly recommend and can't wait to reorder again.

Me and my little boy had the most delicious dinner from here last night, excellent service, fresh fish, beautiful chips, gravy was spot on, I could go on and on about how tasty it all was, was busy with people collecting which made me confident that it would be yummy even before eating the food, all the workers were friendly and even gave my little one a toy with his meal!! We live about 25 minutes away,but this is now our go to chip shop, couldn't recommend highly enough !! Happy happy customers!! Thanks you guys, keep doing what you're doing xxxx

Lovely fish&chips it’s the only one I use the fish is always cooked fresh I don’t know what I would of done without them during lock down even tried the sausage and bacon in batter it was nice but their fish wins every time with me

Whistlers was my son's birthday meal of choice - and this was a great decision! Spoke to Mitchell on the phone who organised the delivery brilliantly. Food was delicious and arrived on time and we really appreciated the Valentines Day heart- shaped chips! A great meal for all the family - thank you for all the attention to detail!

Whistlers provided us with a free dinner after working hard all day at the local Covid vaccination clinic. Greatly appreciated. Food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.

I frequently order the Senior Special fish & chips to be delivered to my elderly parents who live independently in their mid 90's. Food always delivered within the time requested, piping hot & beautifully fresh. Remarkable value, and portions are very generous. A real treat!

I've been using this fish and chip since February 2013 I have "never in any way been disappointed" in actual fact the food is amazing, the fish is always cooked perfectly and portions are generous to say the least, I normally go for the large haddock and share with my son, always plenty there.The sole is divine , the pea fritters are bang on, chips always perfect I kid you notAll of the Whistler's branches are in short excellent and westbourne is no exception. The staff are extremely polite and the food is always ready when they say it is, they're also dealing with the social distancing extremely well. My wife particularly likes the chicken burgers which are very good quality. Anyone who complains about this fish and chip shop is either making it up or doing it through malice.I actually love the food here, try them out I guarantee you'll be more than happy.Jeremy Cole of Emsworth.

After a pretty tough day at work, we decided a quick meal was the order of the day. So I was detailed to vist my favourite chippy for the required sustanace . Upon arival I was greeted with warmth and friendly cheer by Megan, Jess and Daisy. This immediately lifted my mood, and the world was again a much better place. The food as always was excellent and superbly cooked. I would recommend anyone to visit this excellent chip shop, superbly managed by Emma and the team, it's service like this which makes this locally run business such a success. We used to really enjoy their fish and chips but, unfortunately, over the last few months the quality band care around the delivery has deteriorated.On our recent order the large haddock was no larger than the small cod and the cod, which was long and scinny had been chopped up to fit in the box.We will be giving them a miss for a while.

First time trying the delivery and it was on time and the meals were piping hot and really delicious. We ordered lemon sole which was exceptional and also had decent cod, chips and mushy peas. I visited Whistlers takeaway for a pitstop tonight as I'd been walking my dogs for a few hours . I was greeted as always with a smile and a warm welcome from all the staff as always. They asked would I like to try a new flavour sausage. They said it was a halloween recipe, it was full of flavour with herbs and spices and a good meaty taste. I've been going to Whistlers for 10 years plus now , they're always friendly a lot of fun , make you feel welcome at all times. Their food is always first class, and I would always recommend them.

I've been looking forward to my Whistlers order all day, and it didn't disappoint. I could go on for hours, but I won't because all I need to say is perfect food, perfect service, great people and a satisfied stomach yet again. Try them, you'll not be disappointed.

Working out on the roadway outside of the property and the tempting smell from the chips lured me to the front door. The staff are amazing and extremely friendly. Ordered my food and it was efficiently prepared and served with a smile. The meal itself was perfect. I strongly recommend that you visit here as you won't regret it.

This is the best chippy in the area by far. The food is always good and hot and good sized portions. On Friday I visited late but Meghan and Daisy went above and beyond to serve me. They are a credit to the establishment. Will be back !

Ordered a large cod and chips. The cod was small, the batter and chips were soggy, not nice and very disappointed. Had a OAP special, the size of the fish was good but not sure what it was. It was crispy just round the edges. The chips were soggy. Had delivery many be hanging around for a while. Not usual standards but has really put me off going back.

Pre ordered and pre paid using the online system, selected a collection time slot. Waited until my time slot drive to westbourne, tried to collect and was told along with other customers that they hadn’t printed off the orders and I would have to wait whilst they prepared the food. What an absolute farce and a disappointing service.

Had a couple of deliveries from this great chippy during lockdown, having previously visited prior to these unfortunate circumstances, and true to form everything was really tasty and well cooked. Delivery was in a timed slot but arrived a little early both times which was not an issue at all as the anticipation of a yummy dinner was shorter than expected. Will definitely be ordering again.

During lockdown 2020 due to Covid-19 we had a couple of take out delivered from Whistler's, food was awsome, great value for money and delivered on time and respecting government guidelines. Since lockdown has been relaxed, we had our first take out tonight. Ordered and paid online, I collected, food great as always and service faultless. Highly recommend!

Been using Whistlers in Wesbourne a few times over lockdown using their delivery service, we've always had excellent food and service. We always ask for a joke too in the any other requirements box :-) and we have had some very funny ones! So not just great food and service but they have have a great sense of humour too!

Been quing outside for half an hour. We placed our order online an hour before for a set time of 1745 and we are still waiting. Everyone quing is in the same position. And know one knows what is happening. It is a shame as food here is great but they just seem to have no system at all

Whistlers can now find my daughter`s house in Westbourne easily at the fifth order since it reopened for takeaways only. Pre -ordered on the way back from the Isle of Wight ferry it arrived in its allocated time slot. Loved the smaller portions for us oldies great haddock, chips and mushy peas. Cod and sausage, onion rings and curry sauce etc enjoyed by the whole family our social bubble. Good value and still warm and correctly cooked despite being a mile or so away. It is good to see local businesses adapting to the challenges of this pandemic.

Impressive ordering and queuing systems to deal wth Covid-19, friendly and efficient service. All the food was really well cooked, but there was a slightly stale taste to the oil that took the edge off what would otherwise have been excellent cod, scampi and (especially good) chips.

Tried for first time had large cod small cod small chips and cod roe and curry sauce. Well it was awful chips was cold actually it was all cold . Curry sauce was so sweet tasted horrible all over cooked won't be using again.

We ordered 24 hours in advance and collected. It was ready on time. There was no faff when collecting, the staff were friendly. It was hot and tasty.

I had a couple of disappointing meals from here a while a go. So have not visited for a while. I have been using this shop for about 15 years.I went in on my way home this evening and saw some familiar faces. I was unexpectedly apologised to and compensated with a free meal. Thank you whistlers, my meal was superb. You made my day.

Got food delivered. Chips were very substandard,Over cooked and very greesy. Not a very good experience won't be using them again.

The quality of service and food was dire ; there was more batter than fish and fish pieces were small. The chips were overcooked. Finally, mushy peas were missing from the delivery.Had arranged delivery due to Covid 19 restrictions to stay home. On ringing the shop to say that peas were missing, we were informed they were too busy to deal with it but the manager will telephone in the morning to arrange a reimbursement. To date (17/05/20) no calls have been received. We have advised all our friends to avoid patronising this branch of Whistler's F&C shop.

The best fish and chips I've ever had. One of my favourite takeaway meals and have always struggled to find somewhere that cooks it this good. The haddock was juicy and cooked perfectly along with a very crisp batter. The chips were cooked beautifully and the curry sauce was to die for. I certainly recommend Whistler's. The food was absolutely delicious.. When we got it. I understand this is a difficult time with business continuity plans being tested. Whistler's has never delivered before and therefore teething problems are to be expected.We placed an order on Saturday evening, for the 5pm slot but were informed when we placed the order, an hour slot is given so to anticipate it between 5 and 6 as they cannot give an exact time. 6:20pm came and still no food, upon calling we were asked what our order was, and they had forgotten it. My granddaughter was waiting for hers in our garden to take it home with her as she lives out of the delivering area and didn't want to wait anymore, so we cancelled her order.Eventually at 7:25pm our order showed up, if I hadn't called I'm not sure it would've ever arrived. The food was absolutely delicious in the end, and the following evening my granddaughter reordered hers which turned up on time and was also delicious. The team also dealt with the issues well too!! Keep up the good work, we know you are trying your best

We ordered our food for a timed delivery in the afternoon to give plenty of notice for a slot between 7.00 pm and 8.00pm only to phone after 8.00 pm and find out our food had not been prepared and was asked to phone back after 20 minutes if it did not arrive, guess what it didn’t and phoned back to let them know, to be told we could collect, as I was going to pick our food up their delivery guy turned up, we wouldn’t have minded but our children were very hungry and we were basically fobbed off, we won’t be using Whistlers anymore, which is a shame as the food is ok

Just ordered a take away tonight for the family, we have used the chippy for years but tonight stood out from other times. everything cooked absolutely lovely not greasy what so ever, young fella behind cooking think his name was Luke, nice fella, nice to see a young man doing a top job!

This popular fish and chip shop does brisk business with excellent quality and service. My only criticism is that when they first open in late afternoon, they should be fully prepared before hand, but not start up while customers are waiting!

Just moved into the area and it was suggested we try Whistler's. The cod and plaice were outstanding, with crisp batter (no soggy grease); chips were fantastic. No wonder there was a constant stream of customers. We will be back. Well done!
