Great staff, very attentive Food brilliant Highly recommended, from moment of arriving, to moment we left Well worth a visit

Great lunch, quite quiet when we arrived, but got very busy over a short period of time. The steak pie was excellent and the braised steak was very tender. Two Real Ales were available and the IPA was very good.

The Weston is our go to restaurant. Food was great, as always. Service was great kept us in the loop as we were a big table, 14. What I love about the Weston is they source a lot of the food locally which is great for the local economy. Last but not least a special mention for the landlady, Dos, meeting and greeting. See you soon.

Went with my sister for lunch as it was midway from where we both live. The vegetable pakora was so floury and stodgy, with a salsa dip - that's not really a dip - couldn't eat any of it. I ordered fish and chips, it was OK but a bit greasy. But I've felt nauseous all day since eating. The service was abrupt and not very friendly. Overall, below average and hugely overpriced. Restaurant was also cold and everything felt a bit sticky. Won't return.

We enjoyed amazing fish and chips on our last visit but have tried various dishes from the extensive menu. We have never been disappointed. Atmosphere is great and staff very welcoming and friendly. In the bar afterwards always enjoy the range of beers . Particularly like the selection of local craft beers.

An excellent night out with incredible food as always. A fun and interesting quiz kept us here longer and was absolutely worth it! So much fun was had here and can't wait to come again. Sticky toffee pudding and the donuts were a must have!

Lovely family run pub. Great service and food. We left very pleased with our dinner (we had starter, main and dessert and everything was excellent). Very dog friendly. A water bowl was provided straight away, and we were offered a free dog meal of our choice as well.

Visited here for impromptu lunch with family. The place was half empty-but they sat us next to another table of people. We could hear every bite they took as there’s no music or noise. The place was absolutely freezing so once we ate our meals we left. Too cold for dessert. We had ordered a veggie burger which was basically a vegetable (mainly potato) croquette in a bun with salad. Had to eat with knife and fork given its mushiness. It also cost £16:45 for this. Ordered a macaroni which came with a small side of bread. I’ve attached a photo of the portion size. This cost £17:65 which was ridiculous. It smelled as though it needed a good clean. Although the waitperson did come over when we were eating to spray the table next to us with a strong smelling cleaning fluid so we ate that as part of our main. Was recommended this place today by friends and travelled to visit but with these three mains (one steak pie) and a soda water costing £56-we wont be back.

Well where do I start…. My wedding meal was here at the Weston Tavern with our family and friends. And our food was absolutely delicious. We were made to feel so welcome, as were our guests. Nothing was of any trouble and every guest who ate a meal with us commented on how lovely the meal was. The lentil soup was delicious, turkey dinner perfect and sticky toffee pudding…. Wow. The service and hospitality was second to none and I can’t wait to dine here again very soon. The restaurant was very cosy and my husband and I appreciate all the personal touches which made our wedding very special. Staff even offered local transport to take guests home and to our evening reception due to weather conditions. A must visit if you live locally or are passing through. Thanks again to you all.

Unbelievable. We went for Festive Lunch as a work team. The food is absolutely exquisite, the portion size generous and the staff and ambience delightful. This really is an absolute Scottish gem and you would be an idiot to drive past without stopping in. We could not have been happier upon leaving.

We recently revisited the Western Tavern in Kilmaurs for a family gathering. Despite a mix up in the booking, there was a lack of communication that we were bringing our dog along ( our fault) the staff rearranged the setting to accommodate our party of nine. The service was great as was what we had on our plates. I had the salmon and it along with the vegies was scrumptious ! Yes, we will return here 😊

Yummy 😋😋. I had the large nacho with chilli . It was a small portion but was delicious, dare to think what large was like. My Dad had a sirloin steak with the chips cooked a few times with peppercorn sauce , haven't seen him clear a plate since my Mum's cooking. Yum 😋

We visited last weekend, the service and the food was excellent, the place was busy which brought us back this weekend however it was a completely different experience. Same food ordered as the week before tasted completely different, presentation poor and not as enjoyable. Sadly we won’t be back any time soon.

This was recommended to us.. but we wont be back..waited an age for a simple starter sized meal... food was tasteless and its very run down.. it needs a refurb.. even the tap on the bathroom sink was loose. seats need recovered as the vinyl was worn off down to the lining! no atmosphere and the waiting staff couldnt even manage a smile.. worst place ive been in a long time.

We were the only people in the place for breakfast and had to wait nearly an hour for our food.

Traditional Steak pie, mm not traditional when the gravy tastes like the Chinese takeaway gravy! Veg was smush, hand cut chips where more like extra large wedges undercooked and hard in he middle The weston burger, £23 odds, not worth it, not edible at all! Very little garnish on this burger plenty of grease, fat or oil dripping off it and topped off with carbon. The bacon was cold too. Service was poor, young boy had no clue what he was doing and it was left to the 1 lovey lady (5 stars for the lady alone) to take our order while the boy was 20 minutes getting 2 pints of coke, which would have been nice to be told its Pepsi as we would have chose another drink! 40-45 minute wait in an empty place for our meals where 2 other tables come in after us and had been served there's. Very overpriced for very poor quality food! Don't think I need to say I won't be back! Not sure how this place is highly starred on here but it's no reflection of the greasy gunk I was served! Oh if the owner feels this is a fake review I have the receipt table was booked under my name too 18:00 today.

Restaurant was very quiet when we visited on Tuesday 15.08.23 afternoon time we ordered from the grill menu as it half price on a Tuesday,food was very nice unfortunately we were missing beef from our order which the kitchen forgot to add ,the wait time was okay around 25mins as the place was empty though the atmosphere was a bit off the music was cutting off and on the seat are looking old and need some work .After the main we wanted a dessert we noticed on the menu bailey white chocolate cheesecake which sounds good to me but unfortunately after ordering was told it wouldn't be ready until tomorrow I personally think the kitchen and front of house should have communicated this to avoid customers thinking about ordering items that aren't ready yet.overall think i will go back to try other food to see .

Great wee pub. We now walk here rather than into Kilmarnock as its got a lovely beer garden area for people watching. Staff are generally very pleasant and the regulars keep us entertained. Really quirky inside and just an excellent pub.

Disappointing experience - despite some clear positives. The main problem was poor service - with a couple of young staff members ignoring us and the only woman on duty being over-worked and over-stressed. I tried to ask a few questions but they weren't really answered (due to stressed staff). Dog was allowed in but I wouldn't describe it as 'dog-friendly' - as no attention was paid (not a big issue but the tavern makes a big deal out of this). Food was pretty good but some strange portion sizes. Chicken skewer plate was very empty (no salad or veg) and yet the 'small portion' of braised steak was packed more than any of the main courses. Being next to the bar was a bit of an experience. Not particularly 'family' friendly and although the old guy being sick couldn't really be helped - it didn't make for a pleasant night. Despite the place being very quiet (Tuesday night) we were in the tavern for 1 hour 50 minutes and only had one course and one round of drinks. Overall some really poor service and a strange night. I have to say it didn't feel like value for money.

Took our family for a meal yesterday after having been ourselves previously the food yesterday was not good. I had the nachos and the cheese sauce was horrible more like white sauce with lots of pepper. The guacamole and salsa looked and tasted like it came out of a jar. My husband had salt and chilli chicken tempura and it was soggy and greasy. My daughter in law had it as a main and it was the same, not crispy and light at all. I had the chicken and bacon salad it was awful, lots and lots of green leaves peppers and onion, 3 tiny bits of chicken and the bacon was practically non existent. The dressing was not good either. I would have expected a full chicken breast and a couple of bacon rashers chopped through it, some croutons and baby tomatoes. The price they charge for it is a joke. Sorry but that is now of our list of places to go. Crazy thing is I was going to book somewhere else but remembered how good it was here about 2 months ago. I wish I had stuck with my original place as this ruined a nice family day.

Visited tonight. A friend had recommended here to me. So I took my mum and dad as treat. I wasn’t disappointed. Greated by friendly staff. The menu has plenty to chose from. There’s different offers on for different days of the week. Everyone enjoyed their starters. I had the Cajun chicken skewers starter followed by the fillet steak and peppercorn steak. Both courses were excellent. And even my folks polished off their plates.. And the portion sizes are perfect. So much so I couldn’t even think about the sweet menu as I was stuffed. A first for me! The staff also gave you time between courses, so you had time for the starter to go down before the mains arrived. All in, staff great, atmosphere great, food excellent. And prices very reasonable as well. A real hidden little gem. Will definitely be back sooner rather than later. And will also be passing on the recommendation. Cycled 20 miles from Ayr today to visit the local CAMRA pub of the year! Was not disappointed. The cask beer was spot on. The Spey Cadet at 4.5% was lovely and only £1.85 a pint with our CAMRA member discount. Bargain! The Theakston Old Peculiar at 5.6% was from a woid cask and delicious. Food was also first rate and the landlord and staff couldn’t be more welcoming and friendly. If you like good beer in a quaint old pub and good food to boot you should visit. Worth the 40mile round trip on bikes!!

Fantastic experience tonight at the Weston In Kilmaurs. Very attentive waiting staff, the food was exceptional. Extremely tasty main courses, would recommend the Cajun Chicken Sizzler which was Fantastic. Nice relaxed atmosphere in comfortable surroundings. Will definitely return.

Great place with a nice owner and friendly staff. It's great for people with dogs who are allowed in the pub. Great flavour full food I personally enjoyed the Sizzlers which are packed with flavour. Good local pub and restaurant with a friendly atmosphere. Do recommend it.

Great service and really good food. Final bill was so much cheaper than expected aswell as they had an offer on when we went on a Monday.

Fish was miniscule covered in deep fried breadcrumbs so crisp the knife cut with difficulty. The chips were potato wedges and the so called mushy peas were marrowfat peas not cooked enough to be mushy . We were not served in the order in which our order was taken . Staff were friendly enough . Will not be back or recommend to others .

The Weston Tavern, on first impression appeared 'tired'. The interior decor had seen more than its first rodeo. The restaurant menu had all the usual suspects and when the food was served the portion size was good. The quality of the cooking was average. Booked for Xmas Eve after being recommended to by friends. Booked week before Xmas and when we arrived we were told it was Festive menu only that was available (was not told this when booking) and it was clear other customers had the choice of the main menu. We were given a table that had someone else's name on it for reservation so also appears our booking wasn't recorded. Veg was cold but main courses were ok even though it wasn't what we would have chosen. Disappointing overall.

Good food, shocking service. telephoned to see if they had any space for lunch, told yes please come straight away. There were several empty tables so we were seated quickly. Several members of staff passing the table, eventually asked for our drinks order. Drinks arrived fairly quickly but took another 20 minutes to get the food ordered. The food was well presented and as described on the menu, however at no time did the servers ask if we were OK or needed anything else. had to ask for a spoon to serve the main dish and some vinegar for the fish and chips. No offer of a glass or bottle of water and a delay in clearing the table after we had finished and a further delay in the bill being presented after asking for it. Overall good food but 90 minutes to order and eat 2 main courses is a little over the top for me. The waiting staff did not seem to have a plan, would make me think about going back. If you like to spend ages over a meal then this may be for you.

I ordered Turkey and Christmas pudding from the festive menu. Both dishes were just lukewarm and I received a very small 1.5" x 3" slice of Christmas pudding. Didn't live up to expectations.

The staff here are so wonderful. I planned to reveal my babies gender to my partner and had called in advance to see if the Weston tavern would be involved in this surprise. I didn’t expect the amount of effort they put in and then at the end of the meal they brought us our a card, flowers and sweets to say congratulations! I was so overwhelmed and thankful they really made our time so special. Thank you again all of the staff at Weston tavern x

Went with the wife and kids for our Christmas lunch as I work away. Wasn't disappointed. Only thing I would change is the frozen veg and add some sprouts.

2nd visit here , 5 adults 2 kids , when we arrived the staff very quickly recognised the table allocated to us wasn't suitable, when booking forgot to mention we had a 93yr old and a 2 week old in the party totally our fault, we were given a more suitable table without any fuss . We all had the festive menu which was full of choice and reasonably priced. Food was excellent, real home cooked no microwaved food in sight . My 93yr old mum loved the pan fried salmon , the garlic prawns were amazing, brother said steak pie was the best he'd tasted , several of us had risotto it was so creamy and absolutely delish. My nephew designed his own pizza which he enjoyed doing and loved eating , big shout out to the handcut and home cooked chips and the potatoes, Ayrshire tatties are thee best . My hubby couldn't come so got him takeaway chicken pakora and spicy rice with potatoes and veg they where both excellent. Can't recommend this hidden gem more highly food , staff and lively friendly atmosphere.

Disappointing compared to previous visits. Firstly I'd like to point out the food is always good here, never had a bad meal. Visited on a Tuesday night, only 1 other couple in the restaurant so wasn't at all busy. Was very cold when we arrived and this didn't improve at all, waiting staff blamed this on the kitchen using hot water taking power from the boiler. I had 2 courses from the festive menu, was lovely but didn't have any pigs and blankets as advertised with my turkey main. Couldn't point this out to any waiting staff as we didn't see them from the plates being sat down until 20 mins later. Due to the lack of attention from waiting staff there was a long wait from finishing a drink to ordering another. Pointed the issues out when someone cleared the plates. Was told I'd get money off, this wasn't my intention I like to enjoy a meal and cost is not an issue. Had 1.50 removed from bill. Really disappointing based on previous visits, have visited a few times but last 2 visits have seen a lapse in service levels. Restaurant feels to have less importance than customers at the bar as 2 staff seemed to base themselves there, with this being a Tuesday though this also wasn't busy

In today with the family for a nice sunday pub lunch. Food was of a high standard, very tasty, well presented and the lassies serving were nice. We only managed two courses as the were large portions, drinks were of good quality too, the latte was the best latte ive had out while dining. Fairly priced, and really good parking behind the venue.

Not one ill be going back to.I had a starter which was not bad but the main course was something else the steak pie had a stong cinnamon flavour to it.it was that bad you couldn't even taste the steak.i asked the waiter if there was a cinnamon in the steak pie and she told me she didn't know.and that was it..

Fantastic little gem of a restaurant tucked away in Kilmaurs. In the Kilmarnock area alone this is in my top three eateries, and I've only been here once. The chef has put together a lively little menu and you can always tell when someone has a passion for the food they're cooking and want to share it with you. Great flavours, quality produce and all the rest. The only drawback, for me, is the fairly limited beer selection - but there's very few places that tick THAT particular box. Will definitely return.
