Came for an early lunch with some friends. We had reserved a table and had no trouble getting shown to our table and given both the set lunch menu for the day as well as the a la carte. The a la carte menu had plenty of delicious sounding options, but we all agreed to just go with the 2 course set lunch menu as all the dishes were the same anyway.

We’ve been coming here for years now. The welcome is always warm as is the atmosphere. We came in early for a pre theatre this time and the food was excellent. The date, fig and orange pudding was to die for! Wee Lochan has become a West End institution. Lang may its lum reek!

Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery

10/12/2018: We visited for a special occasion and the lovely surroundings certainly made it memorable. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They were extremely helpful when it came to dietary requirements. I had the goats cheese to start which was a great portion size and very tasty. I then had the catch of the day which was very fresh and again was very filling. Would definitely be back.
19/10/2018: I feel the restaurant is past its apex. The dishes were good, but definitely did not impress. While the doll bread was delicious, the beet salad with goat cheese was mostly goat cheese with a couple beets. The salmon main was overcooked. Sadly the garnish was the best tasting part of that dish. The white chocolate sweetness in the panna cotta completely overpowered the delicate flavor of the berries and the cream. Fortunately, the meal ended with a high: The merengue and caramel dessert was delicious. Service was average (my water was refilled when I had completed the meal). Prices are extremely reasonable, tho. Would I come back? No. There are definitely better meals in this town.

Cail Bruich

27/10/2018: This was our second (for one of us and third for the other) go at a tasting menu having been so impressed with the first. We very much enjoyed this restaurant, the atmosphere was good, the service excellent and the food intriguing. We sat at the bar that looks into the kitchen, which we would recommend doing as it is fascinating how efficiently the kitchen staff work around each other. However we felt some of the courses were just a bit odd for the sake of being odd and we are fairly adventurous foodies. When we have done other tasting menus we have come away with courses that really stood out as being simply amazing, on this occasion we just didn't feel that any fit into that category. Everything was beautifully cooked and wonderfully presented, maybe just not the seasonal menu for us. Overall we enjoyed our evening.
21/11/2018: This is a small restaurant in the West End of town. We opted for the tasting menu which gave a good balance of flavours and well presented food as well as good value. The service was good.
