We had a fantastic visit. The waitress was so warm and welcoming chatty without being too much. We loved the decor and atmosphere. A couple of us are quite fussy eaters and it's not often we are presented with a menu and struggle to pick as there were so many things we wanted to try. Two of us had the Doner steak baguette and the other the chicken, bacon, cheese & bbq sauce panini all dishes served with salad and chips. The standard of food was exceptional you could tell it had all been freshly cooked and prepared the flavours were great and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We were desperate to try the waffles but were all too full. We bought cakes to take away and enjoy later. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Dropped in for takeaway waffles yesterday and was really disappointed with them. Took ages to make them even though the cafe was empty and when they were eventually ready the contactless machine wouldn’t work! When we opened the boxes we were shocked. 1 waffle each and barely any chocolate and it cost £12.10!! What made it worse was they weren’t properly cooked either so we ended up binning almost all of them. Safe to say we won’t be back.

My wife and I popped in for takeaway coffees recently and we felt the coffee was well below par (albeit the waffles looked good). A flat white should be 2 shots of espresso with the same volume of textured milk, usually at the the bottom of the cup you will get some froth when you are finished. It should be flavoursome and smooth when you get a good one, but unfortunately this wasn't the case here. The coffee was way too hot to drink immediately, usually a sign the coffee won't taste so good. When it finally cooled enough to drink it was very bitter and watery. Volume wise there was way too much liquid, it tasted as if a small amount of slightly frothy milk had been added to a filter coffee. In the end neither my wife or I could finish our coffees. In all fairness it seemed like a local hang out and staff calling customers by names, but if you are paying through and looking for good quality coffee best avoided.

It had a family feel and free WiFi. For us it was about the food. We both had Izmir Sulu Kofte. It was a generous potion and tasted delicious. The bulgar rice was cooked to perfection. The service was great and the customers were piling in behind us. Give it a try if you like Turkish food but even if you don’t there’s plenty else to choose from

Nice bright cafe with welcoming staff. Decent choice of standard cafe fare plus specials and a Turkish section. Soup, lentil not great but my scampi and chips were good and my wife had an omelette with chips which was also good. But when it came to the bill l was told that card payments could not be accepted. The notice outside said that they were. I will not use it again on that basis.

Just visited the Bank Street Cafe and had possibly the worst food I've ever experienced. After looking at the menu we (myself and wife) decided to both go for the chicken club sandwich and ordered a coffee and a glass of water. The drinks arrived promptly and the coffee was pretty nice, the food took a while but if it's being cooked fresh then I'm more than happy to wait, however what arrived was a plate of inedible junk. What we received was a plate of burnt chips, a brown wilted salad that was drowned in vinagerette, the cheapest shop bought coleslaw and a chicken and bacon toastie. I'm not sure how you manage to burn the chips when we were the only customers in the shop! After a couple of bites of the toastie (I refuse to call that a club sandwich) we took our plates back up to counter and complained at which point the "cook" took them off me and slid the whole lot in the bin without recourse. Always look to support local business and am not one to complain but this was honestly the worst thing that's ever been put down in front of me!

No ! They put stale ones in a microwave for you. When I sent it back and asked for one unheated I asked if they were fresh and the waitress said yes. Sent it back as clearly stale. Was immediately given money back for it. Coffee was nice but would have loved a nice home made scone to go with it.

Came across this little place whilst looking for a light lunch on a quiet Sunday afternoon. The place we normally go to was packed. I was pleasantly surprised by everything! Really friendly staff and a chef that cared so much about my dietary needs that he came out of the kitchen to talk to me. Freshly cooked chicken kebab that was delicious, super spicy for my husband; a gentler version for me. Excellent value for money. Really good coffee too. Will definitely be back.

We popped in to the cafe for a light lunch and left absolutely stuffed!! The service is second to none - super attentive and efficient without being intrusive. The food was superb too. I had a huge portion of lentil soup which was delicious. Hubby had quiche which was packed with filling. Daughter asked for a chicken baguette which was not on the menu but the chef happily obliged. Coffee was excellent too.

A few days ago , while touring the Scottish Borders , I ended up in Galashiels one day at lunchtime . Finding a suitable cafe for a meal proved a bit of a challenge , but I eventually stumbled on the Bank Street Cafe and Waffle House . I am glad I did , because it was a very pleasant experience . The decor of the cafe was bright and cheerful and it was nice and warm . I decided to have a bacon and egg sandwich , fruit scone with butter and jam and a coffee . My meal was served up in a few short minutes , and was very tasty . Also ,the staff were very pleasant and helpful . I particularly liked the view through the window to the lovely gardens on the other side of the road . Next time that I visit Galashiels , I will definitely go there again .

Finding a coffee shop in Galashiels proved to be a bit of a challenge. Surprisingly, none of the "chains" are represented. Maybe the 'eye-wateringly high' business rates might hold the answer (come on, Gala Council .... get real before you completely turn your town centre over to charity shops). However, we found Walkers. Very pleasant owner, great coffee and fab home baking. Well worth the search. This stylish and spotless establishment deserves to be busier than it seemed. Go support them ..... or you might find it even more difficult to get a caffiene hit in Gala

Hand cut chips also accompanied the meal. The fillings on both the sandwiches and Panini's were good. We both had delicious lattes to finish off the meal. Cost £14.
