Booked a table at short notice on a Saturday night. Arrived to a very warm welcome. The staff were very attentive and our drinks order was taken as soon as we had settled in our seats. Our order for food was taken once we had enough time to choose, with no pressure. The food arrived quickly, piping hot and was very good indeed! I had the sirloin steak and I can say it was the best I have had for a long time. Tender, juicy and done just as I ordered. The pepper sauce had a bit of a kick too, just as it should be. My daughter had the haddock and chips and this was also very good indeed. A fabulous meal and great service. I think this may well be our go to pub from now on. The only negative is the toilets are not accessible to anything more than a small rollator of walking stick, but not surprising in such an old building.

as we were there in the middle of the week it was suprisingly busy. the person who served us was very fiendly and accomodating and nothing was too much trouble for her,. the menu was varied and there was Venison and various other things to choose from. The desserts were good and seemed to be home made. The only two things that let it down was the absence of a coffee machine and the fact that I was charged £4 for soda water which I very much object to. Would return only next time would drink tap water.

Went to the Wagon and Horses second time with a week. Last week took our daughter this week our son. Our son wanted to try venison. Where else would you go. The service was beyond excellent. All three of us had amazing dishes. I could not manage dessert. The landlord was welcoming, and talkative and made us all so welcome. Will make this our place to eat in the Breckland / Watton area.

I was really looking forward to the meat pie but it’s not on the menu anymore ☹️ However, the lasagne I had was hot and tasty and the fish and chips my family had looked lovely and they enjoyed them. My mums cheesecake was lush. Service was quick and efficient but we were not rushed. I was pleased to see the tables were well spaced and staff were wearing masks, not the law anymore I know but their care for our welfare was much appreciated. Also very sensible from their own point of view. Place was nice and clean. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because it’s always a little cold in there. But then I should have remembered that and put another layer on.

We treated ourselves to a Sunday lunch here whilst on holiday and were really impressed with everything about this establishment. Friendly staff, good Covid protocols and delicious food. We had one beef roast dinner and the chef kindly cooked the beef for a little longer to taste and one lasagne which was so cheesy, amazing. Sadly no room for dessert but had a fantastic time, many thanks

I attended with friends from work for the set two course meal at 19.95.. There was only one choice for vegetarians for the main courses (which is no choice at all) which was risotto which I do not like. I therefore ended up having a starter and a dessert which was ridiculously over-priced. The dessert was a pavlova but the meringue was bought in meringue nests and were very hard and tasteless.

The setting in the village opposite the church is beautiful, it was warm and cosy inside with a fantastic atmosphere. The staff were just lovely very friendly and helpful and so welcoming. Our meals were superb and absolutely delicious with generous portions too. The only disappointment for our friends was that they had not found the Waggon and Horses sooner, they were heading home the following day and would loved to have returned for another meal. As a family we've eaten at the Wagon three times. I'd seen the place before on my walk to Griston and back. The place you could see from outside is always choc-a-block, so even before eating there you know it's a place locals like or the place wouldn't be in business. Staff are friendly and know their many regulars well. There's a good range of food and a good selection of specials, The interior of the buildings quite charming. As for the food it's 'top banana' in that the food is brilliant. Portions are of good size and my favourite which I've had twice is the 'Wagon Burger' which is extremly tasty to say the least. Food is all fresh and cooked well, clearly the message to the owners is simple - keep doing what you do, as again the food and service is brilliant. We will be coming back to eat again fairly soon.

The menu is a fairly typical pub menu with vegetarian options (not advertised on website). Being pescatarian we opted for the beer battered Haddock. The fish was huge! The side option was salad or garden peas both of which were very nice. The chips were delicious too, nice and crispy as they should be. The fish moist and the batter tasty. We were both working all day on Easter Monday, so decided to treat ourselves and eat out. We phoned first to check they had a table for us. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly landlord and staff and made to feel very welcome. We bought drinks and were shown to our table by a very cheerful young lady. My husband ordered the Whitebait starter and the Venison Burger whilst I had Garlic Mushrooms and the Sea Bass of the Specials List. Both enjoyed the tasty and well presented starters then the main courses arrived. The Venison Burger was huge and according to my husband one of the best he has ever tasted, it came with Coleslaw, Chips,Onion Rings Etc. My Large Sea Bass Fillet was beautifully served on a bed of rocket, with a line of juicy plump King Prawns on a green Pea Puree across the centre of the plate with drops of Balsamic Jus and Red Pesto around the edges, like the outline of a fish. It was serve with a bowl of chips and that was enough as the dish itself was a taste sensation all perfectaly cooked, when asked how my meal was I replied "I think I've died and gone to heaven". I finished with some Ice Cream once again well presented and tasty. My husband? well, for the first time ever he had met his match with the Venison Burger and had been unable to clear his plate, so he just settled for a coffee. This is a Gem of a Village Pub, Oh! yes the Beers good too.

The young lady that looked after our table is a credit, she obviously enjoys her job and is very good. She doesn't appear forced in any way, having a great rapport with the customers. Three of us opted for the specials. Obviously I can't comment on their meals but from what they say it was very nice. I had the venison burger, and she wasn't kidding when she said I wouldn't want a starter as it was so big. When it arrived at the table, I knew straight away that I would not be able to finish it. It was the biggest burger I have seen, hand made venison Pattie, focaccia roll, onion rings, chutney and a chilli cheddar melted on top, smokey bacon, chips and salad. Only one way to describe it, it was incredibly tasty! I am going to enjoy at home too, as i could not finish it and had to ask for a takeaway box. The decor may not be to everybody's taste, but that is part of the charm of these village pubs, much better than corporate chains! To sum up, if you want good food in a quaint village pub, served by attentive and friendly staff you won't go far wrong by paying a visit here

We only decided to try this place because of the good reviews on trip advisor. Firstly it must be said that the staff are lovely, all friendly, all helpful, I could not fault them in any way. My disappointment was purely down to the food, I had the aged rib eye steak at £21.95 I thought things didn't look good as soon as I took my first bite and started chewing and chewing and chewing then trying to take the piece from my mouth without getting noticed. The steak was not good at all and resembled a chunk of gristle. I have had nicer steaks for £10 less. One of our party who is a child had the burger which consists of two 6 oz burgers in the bun, as this seemed too much for a child we asked for just one of the burgers which the waitress said no problem. We were slightly surprised that we had to pay the full price for both burgers, we expected a little something taken off for only having half of the meat. My wife had the steak and kidney pie and veg or as she called it the kidney and kidney pie as she couldn't find much steak, it came with a massive lump of undercooked cauliflower and about seven large boiled potatoes, she was rather envious of us having chips, She ended up leaving most of her meal on the plate. The puds were ok but just average pub fayre. All in all it was expensive for very average food, I can't work out what others have been eating here to review it as they have. Perhaps we were just unlucky with what we ordered. All I know is that I got moaned at all the way home as it was my suggestion to go there.

We were reccomended the Wagon and Horse and were not dissapointed. Very friendly staff who were more than happy to change seating to suit the group. Various starters were ordered and as a fishy person I opted for the Whitebait which came fullt loaded with salad and a tasty garlic dip. Although my main option was off the menu I went for the Wagon Burger, now this is a big burger which had a thin bun so you can taste the meat and not just bread. It was a struggle but I made it through. A lovely little place which is worth another visit.

Visiting with family, first time to this Pub, food was excellent probably the best Lamb shank I have ever had. Portion was generous, with reasonable price. Pork chop was had by others, come hungry. Finished with sticky pudding, heavenly.

Friends suggested we meet up here for a meal.......brilliant choice.Decent pub menu with a few specials, which they were! Generous portions as well.Really busy but v friendly efficient service from everyone. The dining area was emptying by 9pm but the rest of the pub was still busy at 10pm, which is the hallmark of a proper village pub.

Just having moved to Norfolk we thought we would give the Waggon & Horses a try, it really was superb. The bar has a very friendly atmosphere and very friendly bar staff coupled with a super range of beers etc. The food is to die for, you must try the renowned Beef Stroganoff, I can quite confidently say that it is the best you will have tasted. We all had super meals and Tabatha our waitress should have been called Mary Poppins as 'she is practically perfect in every way' with a super personality and can't do enough for you.I can honestly say that this must be the best place in the Watton area for fine dining. Can't wait to go again.

We were staying in the area and it was suggested by a local that we try this pub for food. The staff were really welcoming and able to accomodate us. The area we sat in was cosy with a lot of articles and quirky decorations on the wall. The many offered a lot of tasty sounding seasonal options. The food was served in an appropriate time. The lamb was delicious and very well cooked. The portion size was very good and sadly we had no room to try the desserts on offer.

Owner and chef Scott and his wife Sue always do a great job with the food. Very friendly atmosphere. There's never been a dish I've had that wasn't done well. Good assortment of drinks as well. Well worth a visit, even if it's a little out of the way. Call in advance for reservations for dinner.

Having just moved to the area we had not been to this pub before - but heard good things about it so thought we would give it a visit. The pub is located in a very small village so we were not expecting it to be particularly busy on a Wednesday evening - but we were wrong! We experienced aq very warm and friendly welcome, one of the best beers I have had in a long time (Morland's Golden Hen - sadly only half a pint with my meal as I was driving) a varied and original menu that made it hard to choose what to have. We had to wait a while for the food - but it was well worth the wait..... portions were extremely generous and the food was delicious. We will return!
