Wagamama - Lakeside in Thurrock

First time having delivery from Wagamama using the Deliveroo App. Food arrived quite quickly but hardly any dipping sauce with the chilli squid, no broth added to the brisket beef ramen making it very dry and restaurant sent us duck gyoza rather than hoisin pulled duck buns. Deliveroo will refund the cost of receiving the wrong item but nothing for the mistake on the two other dishes. More care needs to be taken when preparing orders for delivery.

Decided to have a spot of late lunch so came to Romford Wagga's. We were served by Rebecca who guided us amazingly through the menu as we are trying new healthy options rather than the dishes we would usually go for and I found chicken gochujang rice bowl with brown rice of course. It is delicious, I have found my new favourite!!

Am diabetic and was freezing cold I wanted a hot tea of ginger and lemon but it came with ginger syrup which is a no go for me our waitress offered to put fresh ginger not syrup in our tea which was very helpful and really refreshing tea

A nice looking & tidy restaurant with a decent atmosphere and varied menu. But dining experience was poor. They are clearly understaffed and having 4 different people serving contributed to a lack of continuity. The service was just too slow and in the end we had to leave without receiving a dessert we had paid for. Very disappointing.

It was nice and the food was good. It was very busy and due to the layout of the tables, the atmosphere is not as nice as some other restaurants.

Pad Thai was disappointing. Bang bang cauliflower was great as well as the drinks, great service but pad Thai … the chicken didn’t taste good as well as lack of sauce and its taste ruined the dish …

Sitting can be a little awkward at times when you go with family as their tables are a bit small. Food is good but for the price you pay I'd expect no less. Their staff is at times not well trained I feel as compared to some.ither establishments I have been to in the same area.

For the first time visit to this establishment I was confused with the menu we was serviced amazingly by Jess she done wonderful job showing us the menu and highly recommending us what to get which was lovely. A* service by Jess. Decent food and a great first time experience.

Went there on Friday night, the was place busy, Amazing food 🥘 and incredible service, Sofi was great she looked after so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, thank you Sofi you were the star of the show.

This place will give you food poisoning. We absolutely hated the service, it seriously needs to be looked at. We both have been seriously sick and off work for 2 days since visiting Romford. Go to lakeside. We will avoid the cuisine altogether.

I ordered for takeaway and found a small hair in my food. Called up the branch and they told me to email them for a refund, however it has been 4 weeks and I haven’t received a reply.

We used to drive from Romford to lakeside just for Wagamama, so was really happy when the Romford branch opened, however every visit we make to the Romford branch the service has been so terrible and there is always an issue. Tonight we visited for the last time. It took so long to have our orders taken, when the food came it was all wrong. Waited ages for the correct food to be made. We asked for cutlery and waited ages until I had to go upto the desk to ask again and by that time our food was cold. We asked for more drinks that never turned up. Made a complaint to the manager who did not apologise. The staff do not want to be there and have no clue what they're doing, they all need retraining. The food is not upto the standards of the lakeside wagamama or other branches I've visited. In future we will be driving to lakeside.

We went there on Sunday evening for dinner. The place was really good and has free parking on Sundays only. The food was good, and they took care as we had a kid with an allergy. Their service I felt is bit slow, starters came last on the table, and even we needed to ask a couple of times for water. Otherwise, all good and I definitely recommend this place.

It the first time we had visited a Wagamama. The food was lovely but what made our night was the lovely Waitress Ambra who served us, she was so welcoming & friendly. Very knowledgeable & helpful and took time to talk to us. We thought she was amazing and she’s a credit to your company!! We are in the hospitality business ourself and it’s very hard these days to find staff with a great personality- Will definitely be back soon !

I want to give it a 0 but I can’t! I’m sure we got an upset stomach from eating here. 3 people had the same issues. The portions were significantly smaller than other Wagamama Restaurants. I had 4 prawns in my dish, that’s not normal. My partner had 3 tofus pieces in hers. I won’t be having Wagamamas in a while.

Exactly what is expected from Wagamamas, very clean and tidy, efficient service and really good wholesome food.

I found the sticky ribs vegan alternative to have such a strange and unpleasant texture. It was like a chewing gum with barbecue flavour. It was recommended by staff otherwise I wouldn't have thought about ordering it. Very disappointing. My main meal also arrived 20min before my husband's. We ended up sharing my meal as I didn't want to eat on my own. I feel like the prices are not reasonable considering the poor service we encounter in almost every of their restaurants, regardless of what time of the day we go.

Tash served us. I hope I got the right girl. She had a Jamaican bangle on. She was lovely. I was there with my 4 kids and demanding wife. She got our complicated orders correct. No complaints for me.

Beautiful little wagamama here in romford shout out to my great server naveen made me feel right at home took our order perfectly showed how to use the online payment system and the food came out at a decent time! The udon noodle on the side came after we finished most of our food but that wasn't a problem once I asked about it the service was speedy to sort the issue out thank you very much to our host aswell didn't get her name but she was very welcoming and got us seated ASAP! Great experience defo coming again!!! Lovely view nice atmosphere was very happy

So a few new additions one being the Korean Hot Pot, spicy, and very nice, but surprisingly it doesn’t come with a side of steam rice, it really needs it, so ordered a side of rice extra, another new addition the Roti, perfectly made, but the advertising table mats show as 3 Roti, but you only get 2, very misleading advertising, maybe as there was a large bowl of katsu sauce it is meant to be 3, but way too much sauce for just two, any reason for it ? Service great as always, food fantastic, maybe a loyalty scheme could be introduced.

food was alright, however i was impressed with the food, noodles was bland and the gyozas was tasteless the only thing that made them taste of anything was the hoisin sauce, 3 of us ordered gyozas nothign turned up at the same time, super weird concept, wouldnt be back in a hurry

Good service.Reshma was a good server. We were new to wagamama and she made it easy for us to choose our food. Always checked as if everything is okay with us.

Came here unplanned because TGIF could not honour our booking. Got seated quickly. Really friendly staff. All food was hot and served up as per order. Minor gripe was a couple of dishes came after the others were finished and we planned to share some noodles with the Currys. No drama. They were busy and we never booked so can't grumble. Really nice food and good Japanese draught beers. Will defo return. Next level professional service compared to TGiF.

Brilliant just like all the Franchises around England. Enough staff great cooking I always go for firecracker chicken curry which is super hot and spicy and can blow your head off. They sell alcohol which goes very well with the food and for a social occasion. Will come here again when possible it seems very popular as well.

Conveniently located outside of the Brewery shopping centre. I have visited this Wagamama several times since it opened a few months ago and every time the food and service has been very good. I will certainly eat here again soon. The QR code to pay is also very convenient.

I love this restaurant 💖 Staff is usually chill and nice, the kitchen is open and visible and the vegetarian offer is better than most places and delicious.

Wagamama is an absolute treasure when it comes to serving soul-filling Ramen. Every visit to this restaurant leaves me not only satisfied but with a deep sense of comfort and contentment. Their Ramen dishes are a masterpiece of flavor and warmth. Service is very good, Staff are attentive and helpful.

Fantastic Nori, but shy on the prawns but love the sauce. Even better, they do Asahi beer on draught. Great place to sit by the lake and work.

Service a bit slow, none of our food came together but customer service was good and food was good no cross contamination nice atmosphere and good place to around Romford.

Went for a special celebratory lunch today and was blown away by the service (thank you Emma), the freshness of all the food, the taste and presentation. Awesome treatment of our 7yo; thank you for giving her a menu and asking her questions - most places don’t speak directly to the children. Thank you for your recommendations. Best meal and experience I’ve had in a restaurant for a long time!

Wagamamma as a chain continues to maintain consistency between its branches. This branch has great food and good service. It can be busy as one would imagine, but getting a table does not take too long. The long queue of delivery drivers is testament to a lot of local people agreeing as well.

Can I just say my server Stephanie was absolutely fantastic, she was so polite so kind I was very much impressed. Even the way she carries herself to other customers is just so amazing I will definitely be back and I hope she ends up serving me on my next visit, can I also add I was very much welcomed when I first walked into the restaurant which just made the experience here at Wagamama amazing. Brewery wagamama is the first time to visit, though preparations were quite nice, but we were not quite impressed with service. Food came quite some time to come on tables, it was busy Friday evening for them though they were not looking short staffed. We had to ask 4 times for serving tap water, Food was served with very less sauce, so we asked for extra sauce which eventually came after asking 4 different servers just before we were about to finish our food. This Wagamama branch is quite close to me, near to vue cinema I frequent so I hope I get better experience at service next time as preparation were quite nice and I love wagamama in general. We had ordered firecraker tofu and raisukaree tofu, I enjoyed my raisukaree with good amount of vegetables in it.

Asked us to pay halfway through our meals and was being arrogant and rude towards us. I had to step outside for a phone call involving a family emergency while my friend remained inside. I was not long and hadn’t finished eating or drinking and they took it away by the time i came back in being rude to my friend asking where i had went. When i said i stepped outside for a minute they were being rude and judgemental about my situation. They were interrogating my friend about where i was when she remained at the table and hadn’t finished. I was disgusted at the way they treated her whilst i was gone for 3 minutes dealing with something important. They then insisted on replacing the food although i said leave it due to being astonished and disgusted at there service along with the close eye they was keeping on us, the whispering and dirty looks. They still replaced the food and then we paid and left. Awful experience

I love wagamamas and the atmosphere here is excellent. Only had to wait 3 or so minutes at peak time on a Saturday night!! Our server Naveen was so friendly and accommodating - always checked in on us and was lovely. Will definitely come back, never seizes to amaze me :)

I can report that this branch serves up the good stuff, we usually choose Chelmsford but this one is on par in fact not been here since 2019 when I didn’t rate it too high, nice food, easy ordering, easy payment, the new dish of fried oyster mushrooms are superb. And a generous amount of pork belly in the ramen was noted, Photos, oyster mushrooms, teriyaki Donburi, and pork belly ramen, all superb.

Excellent service from Naveen, very caring. Will definitely be visiting branch again soon as he was so welcoming. On a separate note Wagas keep changing their menu, I miss the old chocolate layer cake and the vegetarian beef bao buns. Bit annoying! Prices gone up again which isn’t great.

The ramen was bad even a 5£ from a shop is better

On a visit with my family I inadvertently ordered the wrong type of noodles and thought that the restaurant had made a mistake. I thought i was ordering the dish that I normally do. The staff immediately arranged a replacement with the right noodles. I was apologetic when I realised that the mistake was mine. Well done and thank you

So i walked in for a takeaway on my way home with gifts and cake, the whole bday package on me. Didn't want to order online cause it was my partners birthday and i wanted to surprise him with Ramen, as thats his favourite. Well.... despite the fact that they knew it was for a birthday, ramen was MUSHY!!!. My daughter makes sometimes pot noodles,leave it out in the kitchen overnight, next day it is a pureee kind of thing. That was how the birthday Ramen looked and felt like. Called them the next day, tgey said they will get back to ne. Never happened. But whatever, they couldnt undo the dissapointment and embarassment anyways. Soooo... its maybe good when u sit in and they dont want u to send food back, but for takeaway, I would say AVOID!!!

Overpriced food, food good but lacking something

Very lacking in service - food is expected at different times at Waga... but not half hour between people, we had finished mains before someone at our table got a started. really out of order and very little care or attention, staff didn't feel this was an issue

Visited for lunch after an appointment nearby, had a perfectly serviceable meal! The menu and experience are consistent with every other wagamama I’ve visited, and service was prompt. Location is convenient and accessible, and there is ample parking. Overall, this is a great addition to an area that’s been historically lacking in options - hope it sticks around!

Fantastic food, lovely venue, amazing service and good value too! What else could you ask for? Definitely worth a visit and we will definitely visit again.

We’ve had waga mamas a few times in different branches but ROMFORD is the WORST. Myself and my daughter had food poisoning and when we called and spoke to the Manager Elizabeth about it, despite her promises she never called back to resolve the issue! Awful and don’t recommend.

I visited the Romford branch in the Romford Brewery shopping mall. The staff are amazing IMO the best I've come across and utter goes without saying the food and drink was superb.

Ordered via Deliveroo. Food took 1.5 hours to arrive. It was all stone cold. My prawns were dirty and had black/blue/green things inside their bodies and one of them looked like it had a hole in it with a bug in there (see photo). The food is such poor quality for a not so cheap price point. I’ve given Wagamama so many chances after having a few disappointing visits in the past. This is the last time I will be eating there.

I highly recommend. The customer service was very friendly and when the food came it was delicious and had good sized portions... At the end of the meal when we paid they gave us a free desert as it was my son's birthday. Once again I highly recommend.
