Wagamama in Belfast

Totally enjoyed my food, delicious..😀

During our trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland for a week, Wagamama is the only hands down 1 star experience in terms of food quality. The food (we ordered Yakisoba and Tantanmen) is bland, without taste and really a far cry from what those dishes could be. The duck pancake has side of sauce of cherry and hoisin which is rather a weird combination. The only salvation is the crispy squid which is well cooked and crispy.

Great wee place for a nice meal in Belfast! The service is top notch and the food is top tier! Although sides where a bit slow as I had finished my meal when I got them, it was worth the wait because it was still delicious, and the great service from the staff made up for it too.

The place wasn't so busy when I arrived, therefore I was seated quickly which was great. However, after I sat, I had two waitresses within the space of a minute come up asking me about drinks and food when I haven't even had time to look at the menu. I was confused as it's usually just one person that serves the party. The food didn't take too long to come out. But I was disappointed as the food was quite bland. Not the best experience I've had.

A new experience for me. Amazing.

Can’t go wrong with a Wagamamas!

Don't get from here there delivery driver was very aggressive and as he put it not happy not happy in fact he almost put my door in so I'll not be getting again this is probably all over a tip but how can I give a tip if he just started on me right away very on professional needs sacked and for what I got the price is ridiculous

Good food, very friendly staff, located in a shopping center in the city centre. A little expensive

Its my first time to try in wagamama and I ordered this chili chicken ramen. Okay, I don’t know if the resto claims to be a Japanese or Jap fusion because the ramen broth tasted like Tom Yum soup without the coconut milk. Chicken part that was used was breast so its a bit dry, and chewy. Hope they used they used the oyster thigh part. Noodles was good but the construction of the ramen really looked / tasted like a tom yum without the coconut milk.

Had a really nice visit here, the staff were attentive and charming, the food arrived quickly and was warm and very tasty

Great eating out experience for the whole family. Our 5yr old and 2 yr old boys loved it . Staff so friendly and helpful. Very careful and informative about allergies which was really reassuring for us as parents. Kitchen is nut free

Can't go wrong with Wagamama .. food was excellent and service, especially in this branch, was really friendly ... and they have a good range of vegan options too .. all and all very pleased 👍

Very fresh & consistently lovely Beef Bao Buns are incredible

Beautiful food. Lovely staff. Went here with my son. Was extremely busy so probably best to book ahead. The guy who met us at the door and brought us to our seats was very friendly and helpful. Our server was also nice, friendly and helpful.

We went here this afternoon for lunch, small bit of a wait because the restaurant was so busy. We ordered the chicken gyoza ramen with spicy broth and the hot katsu curry. Both dishes were excellent and served speedily. Love coming here.

My first time at Wagamama, service was great and very helpful for the first time visitor. I'll be back!

Visited 19/12/2023 with my friend. Was very disappointed with the service after my food was delayed around 15 minutes after my friend's food had been served. When I questioned this, there was a rush from the waiters/staff to try and get my food which appeared to have been omitted from the order. Once the food was served it was cold which was very disappointing. When I asked was it supposed to be served this way: the manager in operation stated "in Japanese cuisine its custom for food to be served at different times" there was no real reflection on how they could have improved the service nor any real accountability taken. The manager then did not take my plate but rather came back with a separate warm plate of chicken and just basically planted it on the table and walked away. This is definitely not the dinner experience I was used to last time I visited wagamama and it was actually downgrading. In Japanese custom I'm absolutely certain that there is politeness and good manners; last night I was served the food like I was a dog. Furthermore I'd like to say that the Team Lead (brunette girl) was able to resolve my issue partly as she cancelled my order from the bill. I'm sorry I did not get the manager's name but I was so disgusted by their actions. There was a serious attitude problem and even upon leaving he still didn't have the decency to apologise for his actions. I would hope to attend Wagamama again but not if they're employing managers with this attitude and demeanour in the workplace. I hope no one has to go through this type of experience like I did.

A friend of mine and I ate here on a Saturday night because it was full elsewhere, so we came in here without any particular expectations. Despite this, we were pleasantly surprised by what we decided to order. The ramen is really very good, exactly what you need to warm up on a cold winter evening.

If you order a popular dish such as katsu curry chicken and your friends order something that is rare, expect your food to arrive cold

Food was great and fast service. Did have to argue slightly about sitting next to my toddler rather than across from her. But we both really enjoyed our food!

A good reliable option - you know what you're getting and it is okay, but the prices have increased dramatically since the last time I was there!

Food was excellent. We had 3 different meals and each one was perfect. The price did shock us ( in the good way) drinks and all inclusive it was a happy me going home.

The ambience of the establishment is like every other establishment of the chain. I ordered a ramen which was good and had a nice amount of kick to it. The drink was delicious as well. I had a lovely, enjoyable dinner here.

Boring tastless raman,lots of students there. Overpriced for what you get,heated up in microwave. I didn't like my pad thai and raman. It tasted bland. The menu looked overrated.

Food is good the prices have increased quite a lot, however it is always good to come and enjoy a lovely lunch or dinner.

Awful service Food poor in comparison to other Wagamama’s Staff lazy

Lovely food bust service was quite slow and it wasn’t busy!

I had an so many asian restaurant experience. This one was the worst one I had ever. Me and my bf ordered the two different dishes. Mine was coming too fast, it was soup and was not good. Than my bf food took almost 15 minutes. Also was not good.

Located on the second level. They had a slightly different menu than what we get in Britain, but great food and service as usual.

On an afternoon when I was battling an internal fever, pounding headache and a severe wrenching cough, NOT COVID though, comfort food came in the form of a warm soulful bowl of (Chicken) Gyoza Ramen. Every slurp was worth the money! The service too is full of warmth. Being an Indian, I did ask for more of the momo chutney(as we call it back home) or the sambal chilli paste, added some more chilli oil from table sides and washed this down with a bowl of delicious cappuccino. This combination I made is not for the simple gut. You need an Asian digestive tract to handle the heat I put it through, mind you ! Anyone who wipes with toilet paper and doesn't wash, this combo of etc chilli paste, chilli oil, coffee with Gyoza Ramen is not for you! I felt alive after leaving the restaurant. I was in God mode when I walked back to my hotel !

Was greatly disappointed by the food if I am honest. I got the katsu curry and the whole plate just didn’t agree with me; the rice was so smooth it felt like I was eating porridge and the chicken being breaded really threw me off. The chicken was nice though, I will say. Then there was the chilli fried squid that completely turned me, it was so pale looking and had such an overpoweringly bad taste I couldn’t finish it. The chocolate brownie was okay but so hard and cold! Not a fan personally and I’ll honestly never be back. Great staff and atmosphere.

I usually don’t put bad reviews. But after eating the food I had no other choice than to put a review. I ordered ramen it was absolutely disgusting. It was smelly and didn’t taste like anything. I’ve had ramen before and it’s even one my favourite. This couldn’t be called a ramen!!! It was a disaster. I had to force it down so as to not waste the food. It’s Instagram worthy, looks good but taste wise A BIG NO…

Great food and outstanding service. I have always found western food doesn’t really agree with me. I love it but it does not love me. Japanese/Asian food provides me with a reset! Thank you to the restaurant manager for taking the time to come and speak with us and all of the servers for their professionalism. We are back in Belfast in September!! We will see you then again!

Only good for instagram photos. The concept is flawed every time I decided to give Wagamama a second chance I am always severely disappointed. The food was lukewarm, tasteless and bland. It always felt that the chefs are on a training day and the customers are the test subjects. I order the new ramen on the menu which states the broth was a richer chicken broth; however, it was the same broth as the normal ramen a complete disappointment. We ordered three different mains dishes and we were all disappointed with the quality of the food received! Wagamama is living on borrowed time which is purely based on the franchise name. Broken dish I was surprised that Wagamama was using broken dishes, this is something I would expect from a street vendor in Asia. Toilet The toilet was at an acceptable standard but did not had any toilet paper. Staff area At the rare there were two sets of sitting area which was used as the staff rest area. There were pizza box and other stuff that made the area looks very unprofessional. Staff was sleeping/ resting on the table on their break in plan view of the entire restaurant. This in my view was totally unprofessional, Wagamama could have built a separate area for their staff to rest on their break.

If you are NOT LOOKING for: - hot rich broth in your ramen - eating together, simultaniously - specific types of noodles fo specific dishes You may be happy with Wagamama. But I wasn't. It was all wrong ;(

Attendance from server was very good however, there was a 10min difference between two main courses being delivered to the table. Food was also bland.

Laid back atmosphere. The food is fresh and tasty. It's served as it's made rather than trying to keep it warm while other dishes are prepared. Definitely recommend visiting here. Waiter got part of my order wrong and brought the wrong dish. He let us keep the wrong dish and brought the correct one but charged us for both.

Always enjoy a Wagamama meal! Prefer Victoria Sq to the one at Dundonald. Service was quick - food piping hot and fresh (all dishes cooked fresh so can arrive at different times but ours arrived within seconds of each other). Delicious as always, so full we couldn’t finish the squid! I wasn’t a fan of the gyozas but my husband loved them, just personal preference!

Just wasn't great, expected way better from what I'd heard. Must have gone down hill a bit, very sad

Yaki Soba with spaghetti? Not sure Wagamama. Thought you have standards all over the world the same… disappointed

The worst wagamama's I've been to, staff felt rushed and the vegan options were lacking compared to the rest I've visited.

Recommended. First time I've been greeted by Staff enquiring if we have any food allergies. This is a life saving question. Staff are friendly and professional. Very aware of the menu. Food's delicious. Atmosphere was nice and relaxed with background music playing.

Excellent Japanese restaurant despite being a franchise. The best thing on the menu is Ramen. Adequate price for the quality and quantity of the dish. Dish+drink about 18 pounds

Great Japanese restaurant in Belfast city centre. Popped in for lunch with my family. Absolutely great menu with a good selection for all. My wife and daughter are vegetarian so they were pleased with their meal. Food is fresh and decent sized portions. Chop sticks supplied if you're brave enough lol. Service is fast which I was surprised with as it was a busy Saturday afternoon. Reasonably priced for the city centre. Three main courses with drinks and one desert for £50. 5 stars.

Great food but my waiter had a terrible attitude and they never brought our starter and asked if we could just cancel it.

Had to wait a bit for our table (group of 5), but as soon as we sat down we had a nice server who got our order immediately. She warned us about the potential long wait but our entrees were back to us within 5 minutes. Grilled chicken ramen was excellent and only 13£. Had a nice spice to it as well! 5/5 for how crowded it was

Bursting with flavour and great service

I am not sure if this is a right place to leave an Uber Eats order review from this restaurant how ever, I ordered Katsu Curry and Grilled Chicken Ramen and Korean Barbecue Beef Bao Bun. And this was the worst ramen experience. £1 Nongshim ramen is much better. First of all, Ramen broth smelled awfully. Grilled chicken in ramen was as dry as a towel - overcooked. It was not even grilled, looked like boiled. And the ramen noodles were super overcooked too. The taste of broth is plain, no toppings no garnishes. Now about Katsu Curry. I requested to make it extra spicy but it was not spicy at all. The chicken was very overcooked and dry too. I also don't understand which part was Katsu in that dish, cause chicken was just a boiled chicken breast. Bao buns were fine though. We loved the way it was packed, liked the plastic bowls. The quality is not matching this high price. Very unsatisfied. Couldn't finish this Ramen. All photos are attached.

Yummy food but the gyoza ramen could have been a bit more richer and creamier. But I guess it’s expected because it’s made from veg soup base.

They used to be halal but not anymore. So disappointing as their chefs and everything was super! The vegetarian menu isnt as exciting..

Atmosphere was quiet due to the early time we walked on.

One ofthe best Thai food I had in UK. It is a chain restaurant. Food and drink both available there. I had dine many times and tried both veg & non veg options with drinks. As an Indian, I like to had spicy food and some of dishes are mouth watering. Mashroom bun is my favourite. I also like kastu chicken varient. Noodles dishes are also amazing in taste with many options. I also drink thailand beer, gin and many other cocktails. Must Try if you are near to Wagamama.

I have eaten at other Japanese restaurants before and I love eating ramen when I go to these restaurants. The other things on the menu in Wagamama might be better but having bad ramen is really a deal breaker. Let's just say that if you dissolve stock cubes in some water, that water would have more flavor than the ramen broth I just had. Grilled chicken? More like boiled unseasoned chicken. And the ramen? Feels like italian pasta instead of ramen.

Service has always been fantastic every time we visit here. Always plenty of seating and you’re never usually waiting massively long to get seated. Food is excellent, usually always have the Chicken Katsu Curry and would definitely recommend it if you’ve never been before.

Much ado about Nothing!! I walked in with high expectations and hopeful. The menu language is confusing. I asked for grilled chicken and got boiled chicken in soup aka ramen grilled chicken. At the price point, meals should at least be served in hot plates. The food was shockingly bland. Even Jonny found the beef brisket very bland. If you are into seasoned foods, then this is not for you. I asked for chillies to add a bit of flavour to the food got 2 chopped chillies at £1.25 with no warning. Only saw it on the bill.

Wary about visiting this restaurant after a bad experience in Birmingham but this time the service was excellent and the food was good.

A Japanese restaurant with light food and excellent taste

The wait was appalling! Seven people were served before us even though they had came in after us. The duck gyozas were not to my liking but that could be just me. The chilli squid was awful, it was just tasteless batter, I couldn’t taste any squid at all. My sister was given the wrong dish as the chefs made a different one than what we ordered, so that was another wait. The rest of the food was pretty mediocre and certainly not worth the money or wait! The best part was the strawberry lemonade I got, and even it was too sweet and therefore got extremely sickening towards the end.

there was a fly in my Ramen but offer than that food was amazing. squid was delicious. service is fantastic.

I ordered grilled chicken ramen. They have a friendly service here with short waiting time from door to table. The staffs are attentive and they have toilets available inside. I gave 4-stars because my ramen broth was not really hot enough when served but the meal was filling. I would recommend this place to my friends when in town.

they've taken off half the original menu over the years so there's very few options for main courses. also do not get their food off delivery sites, it'll be thrown together without any real care.

I've been to wagamama for many years but the very last experience was very disappointing. I ordered a peach iced tea and an extra glass of ice since it was hot. When the tea came, it was fine but the glass of ice was a pint glass with one ice cube on its own in there... I'm not sure if it was meant to be a practical joke or something but I asked a different waiter for more who also thought it was strange. Also, the yasai yaki soba, no peppers and rice noodles instead I ordered, came very very late. My friends good arrived ages ago and he was eating very slowly to try wait for my food. It cameate but there were no pickled gingers as it usually would have. I know the staff usually look like they don't want to be there but that day was worse than usual. Food is bland... Service is awful, I made a complaint online but of course I wouldn't get a reply... EDIT.. I did receive a reply for this and it was fully investigated. I am satisfied and will amend my review rating

Great food and atmosphere and very nice staff.

Staff were very nice. I think the food has changed. Katsu curry chicken is very thin and the chicken wings are exceptionally dry. Even though this was noted, the chicken wings were still added to the bill. Unfortunately we will not be back again, which is disappointing as we previously enjoyed it and would travel quite far to Belfast for one.

Wagamama in Belfast is a brilliant wee place! Lovely food, with lovely people working there! Not much better and always looking forward to go again ☺️

Love it here. The steak teriyaki is amazing

I chose this place for the many vegetarian options it offers. I didn't know exactly what to expect, but I feel a little disappointed. I know this isn't a stand alone family run restaurant, but I would say the food wasn't so tasty, it's like the tastes are not matching for me. At least it isn't overpriced, and the portions are big enough. But still, I didn't like so much all we had. Fast paced environment even if we entered the place at 3pm, and food was served with 10 minutes delay, so one person was eating and the other wasn't. I can't say the food wasn't good, but even though I like japanese so much, I wasn't so satisfied. The best one was "Vegatsu", and I would recommend this, I also liked the rice. But too much coriander for me!

Always high quality food at Wagamama

The vegan Yaki soba I got was very delicious! BUT I paid £11 for about three bites. It had about three mushrooms too… I felt like it was very stingy on portion size, especially considering I did not get meat with it. I left hungry and £11 poorer.

A very good location. Amazingly good food I recommend 100% The ambiance is not special, but if you come for the food, it's worth it. Otherwise it would be 3 stars

Always excellent but why oh why did you take the beef tantanmen off the menu.

The menu offered less vegan option as the Wagamama in Edinburgh. However, the ramen were really tasty (and spicy!!) and the gyoza I ordered as a starter were also delicious. The staff is really friendly, and the water is free.

Give it a miss, lots of places to choose from in the square; staff is ok, food is apalling.

Had a great experience in store, I ordered takeaway through a delivery company which ended up getting ruined and I lost my money for the order. I called Wagamamas Victoria square and Emily was more that accommodating listening to what had happened us and made sure we had a replacement.

When I go to a restaurant with friends, I expect to eat at the same time as them. It was not the case here. Between my first friend’s meal and my own, the wait was more than 10 minutes. There was no explanation whatsoever and when my meal was finally brought (without apologies) I discovered that I didn’t have udon noodles (as supposed, according to the meal I had ordered), but soba ones. So I asked why (had there been a mistake…?). The waitress told me in an unapologetic cold way that they didn’t have udon anymore so they switched it. They should have told us before. The food was good but I didn’t even have time to put my sticks down that my plate was already taken off the table. Goodbye and see you never.

This is one of our favorite restaurant chain and we always try to eat here while visiting the UK.

First time at Wagamas and won't be the last. The Katsu curry came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The Korean BBQ beef bao buns , chilli squid and bang bang prawns were all delicious as well. Main courses were very well priced, and sharing sides between the table kept us well satiated without breaking the bank. 4 mains, 3 sides, 3 soft drinks + water for £20 per person.

Team lead and FOH servers could use a bit more training in fire drill safety and overall customer service. Team lead was over heard saying she was unsure of what to do during the fire alarm and somewhat rude in her delivery of information the little that we received on the evening in question. A lot of the staff unsure what to do or tell customers when the incident happened. And didn't communicate with customers once we reached outside. Hard to differentiate between Team Leads, servers and black bands. The young woman tall, short spiked hair, fantastic make up (white line across nose) was a fantastic seater and server. Made sure we were okay and checked back on us during our meal. Very active on the floor compared to a lot of other FOH. A lot of staff but service was very slow. 5 people at the bar and drinks not being served within the recommended time frame set out in server handbook. Go easy on the sichimi on the chilli squid, it was too heavy handed and doesn't require that much. Dressing and pickles missing from Katsu, carrots for the mini noodler's dish were sopping wet and tasted very off (possibly sitting in water or cross contaminated with other vegetables in situ). It wasn't an overly busy service and yet dishes were left on the pass for a really long time, with many staff walking past the pass without running food, it wasn't busy enough to have set staff running for the evening so there were many opportunities to run food to tables.

Very good chicken noodle dish. Never been in a Wagamama before. Will go again.

Iv enjoyed wagamamas for over a decade in Manchester, and supported the company when it opened in Belfast. However, sadly it's gone down hill in my opinion. With the amount of staff on they still couldn't get my order right, and had the audacity to charge me for items I didn't receive! Due to my last visit in Victoria squares franchise I have come to the conclusion I will no longer feed the fat pockets of wagamamas due to the food being inconsistent, and inedible. Also, not getting what I ordered. Pity - as wagamamas a decade ago was beautiful.

Got Firecracker, it was a little bland and not as spicy as I have experienced in other locations... disappointed but still ate it

Been here a few times and the food have always been up to standard, I generally get the pork ramen and gyoza which was pretty good. Waiters and staff were nice and overall a good experience 👍
