Wagamama in York

Just stopped for somewhere to eat was nearly out off by the queue which disappeared quickly, service amazing food even better.

Assistant manager James wouldn’t let our 2yr old eat chips. Our son was sat quietly eating his lunch and we were asked to leave

Although it was busy, we were seated promptly and service for our meal was quick.

Good old Wagamama, you can’t go wrong with any one of their restaurants. Food great, helpful staff, good value for money, what more can you ask for!

Fresh ingredients, healthy food. 0% alcohol cocktails just perfect 🥰. Really enjoyed the experience.

Lunch was lovely here, got quickly seated & order taken quickly. Drinks lovely and cold, food delicious as always! Ordered the new roti raisukatsu starter - highly recommend! Had chilli chicken ramen & chicken yaki soba - YUM!

For a chain it's really nice food and good service

Always enjoyable. Frustratingly, and it was absolutely freezing. Not entirely their fault but slightly detracted from the experience. More of a climate issue than a restaurant issue but they could have whacked the heating on...

My wife and I attempted to have lunch at Waggamama”s in the York Outlet yesterday. We queued for 20mins and when it was our turn to be seated I asked the waiter if we could be seated at one of the seating booths at the front of the restaurant due to it being quite warm in the centre of the restaurant. As there were a couple already dining in one of the booths I didn’t think it would be a problem, as it would have been much cooler there than in the main dining area. To my amazement I was informed by the waiter that the seated booths were for 4 people only and we had to dine in the main restaurant. I immediately pointed to the couple who were already seated in the booth and asked how could that be, when there was clearly 2 people already eating in a booth. The reply from the waiter was “I don’t really know, but do you want to eat in the main restaurant or not”. My wife and I decided not to bother due to the main restaurant being very warm inside. We then decided to dine at Pizza Express and had a lovely meal with outstanding customer service. The next point is beyond belief and clearly demonstrates the lack of customer service at Waggamama”s. As we walked past the restaurant I noticed once again that a couple were dining in one of the, so called “family booths” for 4 people and not for couples. I proceeded to go into the restaurant and asked the manager why had we been refused to eat at one of the booths. The manager couldn’t give me a reason and basically tried to ignore my question. At this point, another member of the customer service team asked what the issue was, I explained in full my issue and was told that one of the diners had a back problem and that was the reason they were seated in a booth. I then reminded the waiter that the couple earlier were seated in the booth and was given a reply of “well they must have just sat down on their own without being seated by a member of staff”. My wife and I, with our family and friends were regular diners at this restaurant, but following yesterday’s experience we will not be using this establishment ever again. To all single, couples or threesome diners who frequent the York Outlet Wagammama”s and wish to sit in one of the “family booths”, please inform the staff you have a back problem and need to sit in one of the “family booths” and you should be able to sit where you desire. Failing this, just ignore the staff and other customers and just blatantly sit in one of the “family booths” and you will be fine. Thanks for nothing Waggamama”s , your customer service is a JOKE!!!!

Reall enjoyed the food. They were able to cater for my wife, who has a gluten-free diet. Service was good, also very pleasant staff. Thank you to all concerned .

First visit to wagamama I now understand why there is always a queue. Great food fantastic service and staff would recommend to anyone that likes loves Asian food. Can't wait to come back again. I will say you pay for what you get, yes it isn't cheap and it is very good thanks see you again i hope.

This is recently my favourite spot for lunch, every time I’ve been every member of staff has been welcoming and friendly and a credit to Wagamama’s. Every time I go I try something different and I have never been disappointed, it has all been fantastic 💕

Checking in waiter was horrible and refused to let us sit at one of the empty tables instead sitting us on the end of a party of 6. His argument was they might get big parties arriving anytime. We asked to sit on one of the many tables with just two people on ( or the table for 8 with only one person on) After a stand up row where he humiliated us, we finally got to share a table for 6 with three others. The waiter that took the food order couldn’t have been nicer. Shame the welcome to the restaurant is so unpleasant Food great as slways

Food excellent and great value.Staff were so friendly and very efficient. Will definitely visit again Whilst we were having lunch a gentleman came in who clearly had psychiatric issues and was very aggressive and confrontational towards the staff. The manager came over to the man and spoke to him quietly and respectfully, offering him a seat and a drink, the man declined and left the restaurant quietly. The manager totally de-escaleted the situation with his calm and professional manner. A real asset to the company.

Great food..pricey ..hey but that's UK and VAT...not crowded at 6pm mid week even during Xmas. We were surprised the whole mall was quieter than we thought...the good thing in Designer outlet mall is the choices available in terms of various restaurant outlets. Service great as usual

We love a visit to Wagamamas, always! The vibe was great, the food was great, too! The waiter came across as a little lost yet very friendly. Overall, I'd recommend Wagamamas as a reliable choice with a vibrant atmosphere.

This restaurant had a heavenly ramen ( which I ate all of) it had delicious drinks and had a lovely broth! Will be back again!

Arrived couple minutes before it opened, girl says can I help you, I say yes table for 2 please, she says we're not open yet, I started replying to her when she turned and walked off! The food was not great, chicken was CRUNCHY and RAW in the middle of peices, wok fried greens sat on the counter for so long they were cold.

First time, and won't be the last! And managed to eat 90 % of my main course with chopsticks, will definitely return.

On the day in October half term the restourant was busy but the staff were still friendly and made time for conversation alongside taking order and usual stuff to a friendly but non intrusive level so about perfect. The food was done to a good standard but I thought some of the portion size was miss matched on my manager fresh prepped meal due to allergies with not enough sauce on katsu curry, but I have been here previously and it would have had 5 stars on that occasion when slightly less busy. However considering every table was full and queuing out of the door we were seated within 5 minutes and the service and timing etc was good. Shame a couple next to us expected for everyone to bend to their will, however the staff managed it speedily and maintained situation, shame there are some self entitled people in this world but well done for the staff defusing the situation while standing their ground a good management of a potentially difficult situation.

Have eaten at 3 different restaurants and they don't differ like other franchises. Great food, great staff

Lovely food. Bao buns for starter. Main courses Duck Donbury and Chicken Firecracker were very nice. The Donbury is a larger portion. We were seated very quickly. Service friendly and quick. You can pay at the table via QR code with the option to give a tip. Designer centre offers plenty of parking and the food court is accessible via escalator and lift.

Persuaded my friend to let me treat here and come here for lunch while out shopping. While she had been several years ago, she wasn't sure what the menu was like now. I enjoyed the Salmon Koyo Bowl, while she enjoyed the Katsu Chicken salad....and we split Bang Bang Cauliflower. Both dishes and the side were brought out when ready and we didn't mind this as gave us more time to chat and enjoy our surroundings. The food was stunning, with just the right amount of spices to complement the chicken and salmon. Bang Bang Cauliflower was a revelation and we both want to recreate this at home! Staff were great, service was excellent and food reasonably priced too!

Fully forgotten about. Had to wait 25 mins to order. Came in 40 mins before close so really quiet, staff just cleaning and ignoring us. Such a shame.

Wonderful lunch today. Perfect service and and my son said they couldn’t have done anything to make the food more perfect. The cherry blossom lemonade was great. We hope to return as soon as we are able.

Excellent food good value for money

I had never been to any Wagamama outlet before. We were seated immediately . The young staff were lovely , efficient and healthy .Food was tasty . A great experience.

Great meal, fast service. We went with a couple of toddlers and they had run out of Crayons so the waiter found a pen fir the kids to use which was thoughtful. Kids menu great, and sauce was separate which was ideal.

Excellent food with a wide choice.

We had booked a session to take children from our school to learn all about Japanese cuisine. From the moment we confirmed the booking Emma and her team could not have been more attentive ensuring everyone's specific needs, allergies, dietary requirements etc. were met with minimal fuss. The whole session from beginning to end was well thought out with every member of staff interacting, smiling and helping the children to make food, learn about culture in cuisine, create our own smoothies and taste different ingredients. As staff, we were absolutely blown away and thrilled at the response of the children and just how much effort had gone into the morning- our children have not stopped raving about it and cannot wait to bring their families too. 5 stars is not enough- a HUGE thank you to Emma and the Team!

Excellent Japanese / oriental food at a reasonable cost in sizeable portions! The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Drinks are somewhat pricey, though.

Atmosphere and service goid. Benches too small for bigger person, was offered alternative. Service good. Pad Thai was bland, no flavour mostly onion, leek and beansprouts. No flavour. No peanuts etc. Disapointed even if not classical and has modern take. Drink irderd nit available, but was offered alternative on house.

We're big fans of Wagamama but it wasn't great on this visit. The waitress was lovely, attentive and efficient, thats the good bit. I usually order the Firecracker Chicken but opted for the steak with noodles and my girlfriend ordered noodles with prawn and chicken. There were hardly any chicken or prawns in her dish and the noodles were bland. My steak was nice but again tasteless noodles. A soft drink each and just a main course that wasn't great for £52 didn't represent great value either. Disappointed!

We visited last night and I currently have to avoid milk as my baby has a milk allergy. The staff were absolutely fantastic, so knowledgeable about allergies and explained exactly what they would be doing to ensure that I (and therefore my baby) could be kept safe. I felt totally reassured and was so impressed with their approach. It's also brilliant that you can download their clear and comprehensive allergy guide online before you visit, so you can choose what you eat before you get there for extra reassurance. The food was fantastic as always too!

Got seated almost immediately by a nice waiter who said that someone would be along in a few minutes to take our order. 25 minutes later noone had appeared. We'd not even been offered a drink. So we left People who had been seated after us, had been seen to, and had food on the table Infront of them

Considering all wagamama food should be the same where you go. The food here was just not all that, tierd salad and the rest not that hot. Maybe my mistake was asking for tofu in my noodles, the waitress was ok with that on ordering, but it turned up in a bowl on its own. Cold. Luckily tofu doesn't need to be cooked. When asked to make it part of the meal and warm they did it. But it still wasn't that warm. Wagamama used to employ chefs, I think now they just employ assembly staff and it shows.

What a lovely place very clean food was delicious and quick to the table our waitress Naia was lovely and friendly all the staff we came in contact with were very friendly definitely be returning 😀

The price of soft drinks are ridiculous - £3.30 for a small 330ml glass bottle. My food portion was small in comparison to what I've been served at their other locations. The staff were very busy and it was difficult to catch their attention without...

First time I've been and loved it. Staff are really friendly and one who served us "anastasia" was unbelievably nice, friendly and helpful (and patient). Food was top notch, bags of flavour and cooled really well in deed, came fast didn't have to wait long at all. Restaurant was squeaky clean, very well presented and tables spaced apart really well so didn't feel like I was sat on someone's knee. Atmosphere was great everyone smiling, staff included all seemed really happy and that instantly put me at ease. Me amd my Wife had a really great meal priced pretty decently considering the food and service was great. Would highly recommended

The restaurant is spot on and food really good (I ask for no prawns in my meal and only sometimes get extra chicken- but I could just speak up when it happens tbh). I just feel bad for the staff when arrogant old people walk in and treat them like dirt. Definitely recommend it unless you're a disrespectful 'Dawn of the nearly Dead' contender.

Wasn't able to book a table but we didn't have to wait long. Food is freshly cooked and the portions are good. My daughter has a nut and fish allergy, staff made sure everything was taken care of.

Fresh & lovely big portions. Have wanted to come here for a long time. Love the feel of the dining room. Very New York chic. And fabulous open kitchen. Price was good and left feeling full and happy. Will definitely be back!

I had the gyoza ramen and it was ok. The gyozas weren't that flavourful, but the broth and noodles were good. The chicken yakitori was nice, too. The seating was unusual as you are sat on the same table as other people, right next to them, which isn't something you really want, but it might be just how you are supposed to sit in this type of restaurant. Overall, I would say it was good, but there were a few minor problems.

Ordered takeaway to collect but found we’d made an error with our collection time. The team at the restaurant were absolutely fantastic when we realised our error and demonstrated exemplary customer service (so many other companies could learn from them!) Really can’t recommend them high...

The blonde alt girl was absolutely amazing and so friendly. The food was mega. A lot better than the chefs in York centre.

Went to this place for lunch, taste and quality of food was great.. the tropical juice is just awesome. Ramen was good, just that missed that spicy 🌶️ taste in it.. although menu mentioned it is spicy.

Poor selection and some shops were like walking into a jumble sale. We travelled from teesside and never bought a thing.

Called here for tea before our 2.5hr journey home after Christmas shopping at the outlet. ALL the staff we came into contact with were lovely, nothing was ever too much trouble, really flying the flag! our food we ordered was on point, no complaints at...

Friendly and cooperative staff but a typical wagamama

Really disappointing. All the dishes we had were mainly luke warm water. Left still hungry. This isn't the experience we were expecting nor the standard of cuisine we hoped for. Not rushing back but am going to pick up a bigger on way home.
