Waffle House in Norwich

I was in Norwich for couple of days from London to see a close friend. My friend knows I like Hugh Jackman so she suggested to come and check this place out on late Monday afternoon. I had the plain waffle with Vanilla ice cream and toffee and she had the fruity cherry waffle. Cute place to visit if you are in Norwich, nice atmosphere and lovely staff especially Anna who served us, she was attentive and helpful. The ground floor was full so we went upstairs which was lovely. Thank you Anna and the team for a good time. I will definitely return in my next visit xxx

Shakshouka & wholewheat waffle. Picture on a plate. Delicious to eat, accompanied by an equally nice glass of Rose`. Served by friendly informative staff. Always a pleasant experience.

Great if you have a party as they don't mind the noise and look after you amazingly. We were upstairs next door. My #vegan milkshake was divine. My vegan waffle was dry. Note to self ask for maple syrup next time. My partner doesn't like waffles so enjoyed his rice. The servers never stopped 👊

Amazing waffle house with both savoury and sweet options to satisfy both cravings! Cheese waffles with more cheese and beans was THE BEST THING. I would have this every day if I could. The chocolate honeycomb waffle wasn't too sickly sweet which as great. Staff here are fab too.

Nice to return to a favourite of the family. However when the ordered smoked salmon and egg arrived - instead of slices of salmon with scrambled eggs, there was flaked salmon and scrambled eggs. Not ever remembered that previously. Good coffee.

if you want to eat out in the city, this is the place to go for a first choice everytime, everything tastes amazing, serivce is amazing and a great atmosphere.

Everything we had was so noice we could have eaten it twoice! Not from around them parts but would defo go if back them ways! Portions sizes being bigger wouldn’t hurt anything but the expanding waistline

Decided to go here for Valentines Lunch, I was very impressed with the food and the pricing was fair. The tables and facilities were clean and tidy. The food was hot and tasted nice although I would have chosen from the breakfast menu if it ran all day

Have been coming here for years. Waffles are so tasty, variety of toppings, savoury and sweet. Specials board. Good service, hot food always hot when it reaches the table.

I called to book a table for my wife and I, I normally just walk in but I know sometimes you can’t get a table and it was for a special occasion.I was told I could not book a table as they only allow groups to book, I would have to turn up and take a chance they had a table. Then the lady informed me that they do allow people with disabilities to book. Great I said I am registered disabled to which she then said “are you in a wheelchair?” I said no and she said well you’re not disabled!!! I first went into the Waffle House in the late 80’s but not any more.

Lovely experience and yes they have vegan options . Loved the banana milkshake . It's my aunts favorite place . Had a great time . Everytime I visit Norwich a visit here is compulsory. Just love the food here as we get vegan too

I've been dying to get back here for ages. It didn't dissapoint!! Great food. Lovely staff. Decent wine, although mini wine list but it was all fabulous!

Maybe I just don’t get it but I really can’t see what the fuss is about. Had dinner last night and it was very hot and VERY noisey and we sat on a very tight table with next to no elbow room and felt very squeezed in with a chair with wobbly legs. Food was average at best and walked out as hungry as we walked in. Spent £40 for dry boring waffle with a tiny amount of bolognaise on top with a small sprinkle of cheese. Two of. Was glad to get out of the place to be frank because it was sooo cramped and hot and noisey. Everyone raves about it but I was very very underwhelmed. Service however was bang on! Very fast but then to be fair the amount of food we received it would have taken them many seconds anyway. Not for me at all and won’t be going back for sure.

There are so many savoury and sweet waffles to choose from, but the Pecan Nut Waffle- perfectly cooked and with a very generous drizzle of butterscotch sauce- won out for me. Blissful! Oh, and friendly service, too 😊

Well made, tasty food that my family all enjoy. Some have the same each time they go but I enjoy having the specials which are always something different!

I love this place. A favourite restaurant if the family. Whether a savoury or sweet the choice is remarkable and I love the variety. Spag bol was amazing. Horlicks milkshake is best milkshake ever!

Delicious gluten free waffle. I ordered the hummus, sundried tomatoes, olives, and avocado savoury waffle and it was incredible. Fast service and lovely staff. Great atmosphere - cosy and friendly. Highly recommend.

It’s hard to tell since looks great and wonderful service and try to give you the best but.. waffle 🧇 oily I can’t eat that and acidic a bit. I would assume it’s local okay so they keep doing it this way!!

Too busy. Too hot. Too crowded. Too noisy. A sensory overload nightmare. Wouldn't reccomend for anyone with sensory processing issues or toddlers etc.

40 years later it remains superb

We had brunch here and were moderately disappointed. Service was good but the food and drinks were not great. Our coffee and hot chocolate were in limbo between warm and cold but definitely not hot. This was a shame because they tasted nice so were simply missing the hot. I had the ham cheese and mushroom waffle - the cheese was in fact a sauce which was far too wet and barely tasted of cheese. The waffle itself was ok. Nothing more than that. Pricey for what you get. It looks good but looks aren't everything.

Never had waffles before had sweet and savoury both absolutely fantastic and really great value thank you to all the staff for making us feel so welcome. We’ll be back next year. Highly recommended

Definitely in my top 3 places to eat in Norwich. Food is excellent, very tasty, good sized portions. Quick and friendly service too. Can get quite busy so there can be a bit of a wait to get in, but it's worth it

Used to bring my kids here many years ago and they loved it...have been 3 times recently and it's still great. The staff, although young are friendly and efficient and the food is very good. Last night was very busy but the service was great and we had a lovely evening. Will definitely be back. Well done 👏

Has great reviews for a reason! Food is great, menu is diverse, service is kind and quick (for busy hours, wait can be around 30 mins). Slightly tight seating but that's understandable due to the size of the place!

Haven't had a chance to revisit the waffle house for a few years. Was so pleased to find it just as I remembered, with just a few changes like refreshed decor and pottery. Food was excellent, just hard to choose from a varied menu. Too full on this occasion for any dessert, but they still do the dutch apple, so maybe next time. Not too pricey for a lunchtime treat, except maybe the soft drinks. We opted for tea.

Such a cute place to get brunch with friends and family. Lots of sweet or savoury options. Son was given colouring pencils and sheet to keep him busy. Good service and Restaurant clean. Toilets are out and in the next door upstairs. I really recommend the Bacon & Banana Waffle, an unbelievable but perfect combination!

The food is delicious, the staff are lovely, and two songs from Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed played in a row. Highly recommend

Such a cute place to get brunch with friends, family, or on a date. The menu has a mixture of sweet and savoury waffles to suit everyone's taste. The staff are all friendly and attentive whether it's busy or quiet - one time in particular they were empty at an odd hour of the day and were still welcoming, friendly, and attentive to myself and my partner. The banoffee waffle is my personal favourite as most places don't serve anything banoffee these days.

Used to come here when the waffles were made at the front desk. Probably shows my age however they were thick and very tasty waffles. The ones we had today were just not up to somewhere who's menu is based on waffles. These just didn't have the consistency of a waffle made to order. They looked and tasted like catering bought. If someone wants to prove me wrong and provide a video showing them being made in the kitchen, ill happily rescind the review. This is a huge shame as the toppings we had and the milkshakes and smoothies we had were lovely.

My friends and I came here for brunch and had very good savory waffles. I never could do much with savory waffles before, but this restaurant won me over. The service was super nice and the ambiance was also very pleasant.

The Waffle House is a great place to sit in and have a meal. They have multiple different options for patrons to try, covering savoury, sweet, and vegetarian options. Portions are well sized at a decent price. Service from staff was great - welcoming and friendly, and being as busy as they are, they certainly work hard there. The atmosphere is fine - it can, however, get very busy/noisy at peak hours, and the plCe itself is quite small, so you can't avoid any noticeable noises from other patrons. Overall, it is a good experience to be had, but if you want a more peaceful eating experience, then try to arrive outside of busy hours.

Time for a new menu I think, seems it hasn't changed for sometime! Still, good food and service.

Table of 6 booked for 5pm on a Friday evening - 4 adults and 2 kids. A very warm welcome when we arrived to what was already a busy restaurant. A very enjoyable evening, service from the team was outstanding - friendly, patient and helpful. I went for the hunters chicken. Didn't know what to expect but it was delicious. Well presented, very tasty - if I was a dog i would have licked the plate clean, sat with puppy dog eyes and begged for more - but as a human, I could admit the portion size was perfect. Some very good quality ice creams to finish. It is obvious to see why the place is so busy. Faultless service, food and atmosphere.

More spacious seating upstairs. Also good view of the street. Old building, narrow and low doorways, lots of stairs. Expensive street parking outside or St Giles car park is a few feet away.

It's a cool place to have breakfast with friends and catch up. I enjoyed the waffles, even though I would have preferred fried eggs instead of scrambled, I requested for fried egg but I was told they had just one chef in the kitchen and my request wasn't granted. In all, I had a good time catching up with my friend, and the service was also prompt and friendly.

Food is amazing, waffles are light and fluffy, both wholemeal and plain waffles. Had bang chicken and banoffee. Staff are friendly and not shy, however did take a little longer to clear tables than I thought but not major. Was popular for a Monday lunch so expect some occupied tables. Overall a great experience.

We thought you were selling waffles since 1978, not selling waffles FROM 1978. We could have been able to use the waffles as an emergency glass hammer to break the window in case of a fire. They were cold, dry, and tasted like plain ice cream cones.I can not say anything good about the waffles unfortunately. We were expecting warm, soft and fluffy in the middle and crunchy on the outside goodness. Super disappointed. The guy who served us was very friendly though, there were 2 other members of staff and none of them asked us about the food. The place has great reviews so I assume other people have very low waffle expectations.

Shame there's not more than 5 stars to give! First time in Norwich and at the Waffle House and the staff were beyond friendly and helpful. Waffles were delicious too. The restaurant was busy and there was a real buzz. Didn't wait long for anything. Nothing too much trouble. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Norwich.

GREAT food!! I had a savoury waffle because the sweet waffles honestly did look underwhelming but I didn’t try one so I can’t say for certain. The sweet potato waffle was insane! I loved it so much! There was so much toppings as well including: corn ribs, halloumi , chilli jam, guacamole and crispy onions. It was jam packed with flavour and salty goodness. 10/10.

A Norwich icon. Consistent quality and a must-visit in Norwich. As good today as it was when I first visited nearly 20 years ago. Bolognese waffle and the Chocolate Mousse waffle are the best. Long live The Waffle House!

Everything about this place is great. The staff are excellent, food is wonderful and atmosphere is very good. Great place to dine.

I came here with my boyfriend and we were both very excited as the reviews are great and overall the waffle house seems like a really lovely place to come. However when we arrived we were placed in a tiny corner that felt too small for even one person to dine comfortably. The service was mediocre and it felt as though us being there was a real inconvenience to the staff members. We both ordered from the sweet menu and had extras also. The waffles came freezing cold and with the wrong toppings that I had asked for. The waffles tasted stale and shop bought and for a place called ‘The Waffle House’ they really did not specialise in waffles! We both left hungry and disappointed. Off to have a picnic!! 😁

While the service was good, I think the mushroom stack was a bit ambitious. There were many flavours within the dish, but the main ingredient (mushrooms) was left flavourless and full of water, which didn't pair well with the waffle as it made it soggy. However, I will go back again to try something else as their menu is quite intriguing.

My first experience with waffles, thoroughly enjoyed the ham, mushroom and cheese sauce variety. Staff were pleasant, efficient and friendly. Service was good, only a short wait despite the place being full (and having to wait for a free table). Would visit again (but probably book if in school holidays!).

The Waffle House is located at 39 St Giles St, Norwich NR2 1JN. This restaurant offers varous option of waffle in different tastes, including chutney, crunchy, chili, tamari, cheddar cheese sauce and the traditional sweet. A kind of mixture of contrasting tastes. After trying the options, traditional sweet waffle is the best. A long queue of customers is always found in front of the shop. No booking is necessary.

Ordered chocolate waffle straight off the menu, didn’t add any extras which was maybe a mistake. It came and it was stale, cold, crunchy and dry. Disappointed. I presume I got unlucky as the reviews are great. Left the waffle after a few bites.

One of the true local gems of Norwich. Never disappointed when I come here. Highly recommend the chocolate mousse and honeycomb waffle!
