WA cafe in Ealing

I've always enjoyed the Japanese style pastries here. But however the service is terribly appalling especially in the morning. The manager (I believe) dressed in white was really unfriendly and made it seemed like she's 'doing you a favour' in manning the till. Spoilt my morning with this, which was unfortunate.

This quaint Japanese cafe exceeded expectations with its charm and culinary delights. The matcha tiramisu was a revelation, blending the richness of traditional tiramisu with the distinct flavor of matcha. Paired with expertly crafted coffee. Must try place for cake lovers.

Very delicious Japanese desserts and drinks, Very good prices. It has different prices if they are to take away or to eat in the place.

The styles of desserts are very attractive and are rarely seen in the market. But the coffee is just mediocre

My second time visit with this japanese patisserie shop. I had a matcha tiramisu and it's delicious. Their patisserie are not too sweet. I highly recommend this shop if you're concerned about your sugar intake.

Real Japanese bakery. They have speciality cake/bread every season which I enjoy.

It's always buzzing and bright in WA café but not to the point it is hectic. There is a calm atmosphere amongst staff and customers that radiates satisfaction. The cake here is wonderful and I always get a box of 4 each time I visit Ealing. The cake here tastes as good as it looks and I highly recommend popping in.

Incredible service and gorgeous array of pretty cakes, pastries and Japanese-inspired confections and drinks. Very high prices though which was a little disappointing.

Ordered take away and items are missing. The package came with a sticker which states that please do not contact them directly with regard to any missing items. Disgraceful. Unscrupulous. Shameless.

£4.80 for a matcha latte, very white, extremely milky. Disappointed. The presentation looked great, just to find out that all the bright green matcha was looking beautifully on top and underneath it was a barrel of pretty much plain milk. Service was also appalling. They ran out of cakes (apparently), I asked if there was anything left and they confirmed that there was not, both to me and to the next customer. Imagine my surprise when 20 mins later they sold take away cakes to new customers from a fridge underneath the counter despite it had not been restocked whilst in there. Clearly lazy attitude from staff for dine in. Will not come again.

I dont if people are getting paid to write reviews but this place is honestly not all that, service is so mid the waiters feel very passive agressive i think theyre only nice to white customers and regular customers that come all the time. the food is so expensive i spend 19.20 on two very small cakes and a matcha latte which was not nice at all

A lovely Japanese cafe/patisserie in Ealing. They have beautiful desserts, but also some savoury items, as well as coffee and tea. The seating space is rather limited.

Best experience, food was tasty, coffee was lovely it had that beautiful roasted aroma and taste. The service was great. All the staff were polite, helpful, and smiling. Atmosphere was neat, clean, and relaxing with the view of the park.

I got a matcha latte and a chicken teriyaki sandwich, the matcha was ok and the chicken sandwich was really good but very overpriced. It was very flavourful, and the portion size was good too, definitely one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had, but a sandwich for £10? I wouldn’t get it again even if it tastes like heaven. We also got the earl grey apple cake, unexpectedly good, not too sweet and not too plain. Overall everything was good but it’s just very pricey.

It's a good thing I don't live in Ealing anymore, otherwise I would've come here everyday, absolutely delicious!

I'm ordering what I used to order since I have been buying cakes here years ago, I used to buy a lot of cakes WA. I found out the cake isn't the same quality. The matcha chocolate is very flakey much thinner chocolate than before it has no crunch to it and the taste of cream is not as rich and milky as before.The base has no crunch to it as well. The cake is very lack of character than it used to be. It used to be fantastic! I can not taste strong matcha with the rich cream and less matcha powder. You are not going to remember it or feel impressed of the matcha if you eat this cake. The strawberry cake has very little strawberry in it. It's not the same when I have them now compare to the past. I also ordered some different latte which were okay. Cakes are not the same,shame.

Been here a few times, always a great experience. Would recommend the plum tea, a little on the expensive side but a lovely treat!

All the cakes truly taste like the authentic japanese cakes, Love this place so much... can be a bit pricey but so worth it.

Good breakfast with French-style matcha croissants.

Stopped here for some treats after lunch and wasn’t disappointed! All the dessert looked very good and fresh. I tried the chocolate one with pralines and it was delicious. Also got one of the matcha tiramisu, which was good too. Bit pricey but worth it. Definitely recommended if you are around Ealing looking for a treat

I think people mistaken this place is run by Japanese. I was told the owner is Malaysian who also owns Hare and Tortoise next door. I used to love this place, however, the service seems to have gone down hill. I ordered a cake online. On the day of picking up, I stood at the door and told one of the staff about my order. Then I tried to walk into the cafe, the staff shouted at me ‘Stay there!’. Why couldn’t I wait inside?! About two weeks ago, I went to order matcha latte and green tea cake to dine in. Again, another staff was rude to me by telling me to ‘Sit down!’ and she would call me once my order was ready. When they were ready, she simply left them on a tray on top of the countertop without calling me. I knew there was no service but the staff didn’t have to be rude. Not going back. Cakes are good but I don’t want diabetes.

I enjoyed eating here. The quality of the cakes is excellent and delicious. They are very lightweight and tasty, not overly sweet or rich. I had the strawberry cake with Kurogoma(Sesame) Latte. The latte was not sweet at all which was nice because it balanced out the dessert. The total was a bit pricy and came up to £12. Customer service is fast and staff are very hospitable and polite. I would definitely keep coming here in the future.

Tea was just hot water. Asked for stronger tea and was charged 50p extra for some more tea leaves. Matcha tiramasu was uneatable. Matcha roll was good. Citrus tea was okay. Overpriced and disappointing. Won't go here again and I don't recommend.

As an ex-expat in Japan of 15 years, I have finally found a Truly authentic Japanese cafe with a wide selection of pastries, cakes and drinks in London! What a delight! Matcha tiramisu, pumpkin croquet and sen cha are fabulous! Yet to go through the full selection of Wa’s dishes, so will be coming back soon! The cafe gets very very busy, hope they can expand soon or somehow add more tables for more customers.

Had a very bad experience in WA Cafe today. I have been a WA Cafe customer for years. Today I went in to get some bun for my breakfast. The girl at till was so rude. She gave us the most serious face and no communication at all which is fine. Before we leave I found out the bag of bun wasn't been sealed. So we kindly ask her if she can seal the bun for us. She grab the bun without out say anything and gave us poker face back. I well received that she is so unhappy with us asking her to seal the bun which she should do before handling to us. And we said thank you so much for your help to her. She replied with silence. Before I go I told her I'm not happy with her service and she rolled her eyes back. As a customer I like WA Cafe products. But it's not what I'm expecting when I coming spend my money with this attitude. You don't need to be professional but at least respect the customer. If you are not happy with the job you can leave do not need to showing it at work to customer like this. This is extremely rude.

Been to WA Cafe several times before, never disappointed. Cakes are very soft and not too sweet. Plus they look very pretty, too!! 🥹

The most “Japan” Japanese Cafe I’ve visited in the UK. All staff are Japanese or Japanese speaking local, totally no problem if you order in their language, definitely give me a feel of going back “home”. They sells different kinds of pastry like cakes and pan, also some sandwitches, all very authentic Japanese style. Their drinks are superb, from taste to presentation are top notch. The shop is spacious but only have a few tables which makes it a comfortable place to chill and relax, however, may be many people also thinks that way make they have a policy of only 2 hour dinning time.

Both the seamsame cheesecake & the bun with sausage was delicious! Would try the matcha instead of matcha latte tasted bit diluted !

Amazing coffee place. One of the best places to enjoy your coffee in Ealing.

The coffee here is nice, although it may not be the absolute best I've had, it's definitely a great deal considering the price. The staff is simply amazing and very friendly. I also tried their sandwich, which, I must say, is outstanding, although it comes at a slightly higher price point.

Had coffee and vermicelli maron cake. They were both nice and the cake was delicious and had the right balance of sweetness and creaminess.

A rushed experience that was not enjoyable in the least. Toilets were closed 49 mins before cafe closed, stools turned upside down and music turned off. Ok, we get the message. Bye.

One of my favourite bakeries in London, must visit! The melonpan and veg curry buns are delicious! So are all the cakes, every one of them. I recommend trying to black sesame drink too, it's delicious! (And please bring back the egg mayo doughnut, I miss it!)

I visited WA at covent garden several times and loved their black kuro goma latte . Today was my first time visiting their Ealing brunch and I was shocked that their kuro goma was extremely sweet, tons of sugars in it , disgusting ,I couldn’t drink it and thrown it away , how can two brunchs using different recipes for same thing ????

I'd been wanting to go to WA Cafe Covent Garden for a while, because it looked so good on Instagram! It was so good I went twice in the 2 days I was in London! The patisserie are delicious fluffy heaven! I had matcha roll one day - with the delicious red bean paste inside! Day 2 I had the Yuzu Honey cake and it was perfect! The matcha latte is delicious and beautifully presented with a lovely pattern on the top. And what I really liked was the lovely smile I received from a kind member of staff as I walked in the door, both days! :)

Amazing pastries, many Japanese-influenced. Popular with Japanese locals. If you need an amazing birthday cake order it a few days in advance, they can't oblige on the day.

Really lovely cafe, I enjoy coming here, fantastic cakes and pasties, polite staff. Recommend anything matcha and plum tea. Very clean and hygienic including the bathroom. Only took off one star, because things are often out of stock, and because the seating isn't very cosy.

Lovely place. The staff were kind and constantly smiling and gave me time to properly look at the menu. I got the chocolate banana cake and the matcha croisstant with a matcha latte. The croissant was fluffy on the inside and flaky on the out, and the cake was airy and delicious. It's one of my favourite coffee shops, and will definitely be coming back again.

Expensive as you'd expect. Lanka is probably slightly better in my opinion.

This was my first time visiting WA Cafe in Ealing, but I’m a regular visitor to the one in Covent Garden. This one just us good. The food and drinks were delicious and service was impeccable. I’ll definitely be visiting often.

Update: was passing through and decided to get an Asian hot dog bread. It looks like both ends of a full frank sticking out but it’s actually two of the tiniest cocktail sausages with an empty space between. Definitely intentional. For the price, that’s incredible… This cafe is just okay for me. I've been several times to buy cakes or buns to take home, and the counter service is not what I expect of Japanese standards. They can be curt to the point of being a bit rude. Some of the cakes are also tiny for the price. I don't expect to fill my belly with one, but the flavour doesn't make up for it either.

The cakes and bread are fantastic and the staff are brilliant, you are always met with a smile. The strawberry shortcake and banana cake are my two picks. The shortcake is the most popular cake in Japan, similar in popularity to our Victoria sponge cakes here. The atmosphere is very Japanese, the design of the interior fits really well with a typical Japanese modern simplicity to it. I can't say what the drinks are like as I've only bought a coffee once, the main event is the cake, but I'm sure the drinks match the quality of the food. The only thing I would note is the serving of coffee is quite small so if you are looking for a drink to walk to work with I'd avoid the coffees. However, it's fairly strong and the size matches well with the lightness of the cakes. Having visited both of their shops a number of times I can say I very much prefer the Ealing branch as it's more spacious, although there is less seating. I have been a dine in, takeaway and delivery customer, and all experiences were brilliant. If you have time and there is a free seat I recommend you dine in.

We got there at quarter to six and were denied service as they were closing at 6pm. We could have taken our drinks out, but no, apparently they can serve pastries up until a minute to 6, as we witnessed while sitting down to wait for our lift, but drinks were too much effort. The staff were very rude and kept telling us they were closing while people were still being served at the till. I am not going there again and do not recommend it.

Great patisserie and cafe with a to die for selection. Be careful if you follow a vegetarian or halal diet however as some items contain beef gelatine.

It’s so nice to find places like this - where you are happy to spend your money. So far I’ve tried the Matcha roll and sesame cheesecake. Both are delicious. Cheesecake wasn’t my cup of tea but this one certainly is. Well done to the business. Your staff is very friendly too.

Definitely my new favourite in Ealing. Excellent selection of cakes and good range of sandwiches for breakfast. Lots to choose from to drink as well. Try the earthy Soba Cha (buckwheat) or pick from the list of coffees and teas. Everything I've tried here has been excellent. Recommend.

A bit weird. Didn't realise it was Japanese at first but all was good .I had a black coffee and some little Madeleines .

I just paid £4.50 for half a cup of latte. Worst cup of coffee I ever had. The cakes look amazing but disappointed in the price and quality of the coffee.

WA Cafe is one of my go-to cafes in London, especially their Covent Garden branch. They have amazing matcha drinks which I always crave for every month. Their desserts are all so good too.

The Souffle cheesecake is the BEST cheesecake I've ever eaten. An ultra smooth souffle and soft crumbly cheese. Will definitely be back for more!

A favourite. The standard is very high. Interesting flavours and everything is made to perfection. The service is excellent too, as you might expect from a Japanese establishment. We also visit the central London one when in London.

Came here on a recommendation and the cakes/pastries are amazing! We got the banana chocolate and strawberry short cake and both were so light and airy. Would love to try their other desserts too. I had the oat matcha latte but they also have a range of other specialty drinks too that sound great. A great little spot in the area!

This is one of my favourite cafes in Ealing. The desserts are so light and not too sweet. They are delicately curated and have a well balanced flavour and texture. My favourite is the white sesame cheesecake and also the mango cheesecake. They have seasonal options too, so even if you are a regular like me, you can still try something new. There drinks are a mix of Classical Japanese drinks like sesame pate or matcha tea, and western coffees. The venue is clean, light and has an area to sit. It’s a shame that the venue is small, as you often have to takeaway since the place is always full. There are also some nice savoury food options like the pumpkin croquette sando and chicken karage sando. Their buns are delicious and great if you want to take them with you whilst travelling/commuting. They also make lively whole cakes for occasions and they package them up nicely. The staff are so sweet and friendly. I would highly recommend this place.

Nice swish little place for tea and yummy cake. V nice staff but I did wish they had bought over the food and tea. Tea excellent and loose leaf in a fancy cup.

Visited again this weekend- and still brilliant. Amazing Easter cakes and delicious chocolate & banana cake. I’ve never had anything apart from amazing cakes and patisserie from WA!

I was not welcome in this cafe for some reason! I was meeting a friend here but I arrived first so I ordered a pastry to be polite and sat on one of the tables. After 10-15mins, the waiter came up and asked if I am leaving. I had finished the pastry by then. I said I'm waiting for a friend. She asked when and how long we'll stay because they have other customers who need the table. I had been there for literally less than 15mins!!! Everyone in the cafe was looking at me because she was talking to me from a distance!!! Very impolite and rude waiter. This wasn't my first time coming here but will definitely be my last.

I have been here on two occasions now and each time has been an absolute treat. The melon pan is so soft and sweet, and most recently my partner and I have taken home some sweets to have for desert. The Matcha Roll and the Chocolate Praline Gateau. So lovely. The staff are always kind and sweet and they pack your takeaway treat with so much care and love.

I got the chicken katsu sandwiches (takeout). This was the second time I got them as when I tried them last time, I loved the softness of the bread and the chicken katsu and the mayo in between, but this time the bread wasn't as good as before and the chicken katsu seemed to be smaller while there wasn't as much mayo. A bit disappointed as the price increased as well..

Incredible pastry, tea and kurogoma latte. Everything looks beautiful, fantastic attention to detail. The staff are always super polite and welcoming. A haven of Japanese food and culture at the heart of Ealing. Just wished they had more seating.

Have previously only been to the sister location in Covent Garden, but was pleased to find that the Ealing brand also had some of its own unique cakes. Got the summer Yuzu lemon special, alongside the matcha gateau, a raspberry torte and the banana cake (forgotten proper name). Also had a lovely matcha tea which was warm and enriching, their savoury stuff always looks really good as well but have never gotten it before, would highly recommend this place either as a treat or something to get someone you care for!
